- Well, unfortunately, it is
almost time to leave Austin, a city, by the way, which
we have enjoyed quite a bit. Very nice town. And this place where we're staying, the Pecan Grove RV Park or
resort, I think it's just park, impeccably located. I mean, we are walking distance from all the attractions
downtown, everything, the jogging trails; very cool. And for the most part, a beautiful park. But then again, then
you find stuff like... Like this, which gives it
kind of a rundown look, if you will. The lawn is not mowed. Of course, we've only
barely scratched the surface here in Austin, which gives
us an excuse to come back, to return at some point. And then I'm gonna, maybe I'll
do the kayaking on the river and do some of the other
trails and eat more barbecue. And there's also the
Lyndon Johnson Library. There's a lot to see here. (soft music) So long, Austin. We will return one of these days. Really had a good time here. Now, to New Braunfels we go. ♪ I'm riding ♪ ♪ Riding, riding ♪ ♪ Riding in my RV ♪ ♪ My RV ♪ ♪ Wherever I want to be ♪ ♪ Because I'm free in my RV, yeah ♪ (upbeat electronic folk music) Well, on the road again,
rolling solo this time. If you recall, in the previous episode, Ili had to fly back to Miami. Okay, I won't lie to you, it feels very weird
traveling by myself again. Take a look at those clouds. They almost look painted. I'm really not supposed to arrive at the campground in New
Braunfels until 1 p.m., so I'm gonna kill some
time here at the Walmart and resupply while we're at it. Well, took a break here at
the Walmart, resupplied, and I'm actually killing time because I'm not supposed to arrive at the RV park until 1 p.m. I'm gonna arrive at 12:50, so
it's probably gonna be okay. All right, onto I-35 South we go. Here we are, New Braunfels, Texas, and our campground, Landa RV & Campground. Very close to the more-famous Landa Park. This here is the Comal River, which is a tributary of the Guadalupe. It is supposedly the shortest
navigable river in Texas. It runs entirely within
New Braunfels' city limits. This is my site. Hoo! Well, here we are in New
Braunfels, and this is, I forgot the name of the RV park. I'll put it somewhere down here. But seems to be a
popular river for tubing; this is what people are doing here. I might, I may or may
not do the tubing thing. But, yeah, it's awfully
hot today here, by the way. I'm not even gonna connect my sewer because I'm only here for one night. Tomorrow, it is back to
San Antonio for the rally. (light keyboard music) Let's do the aerial view. Oh, Wurstfest! Sounds yummy. And an old factory turned into a condo. Somewhere down there is the
aforementioned Landa Park, but I don't know exactly where it is. This is the view from my campsite. And check it out! We've got wildlife right across the river. Yeah, tubing is a thing. Since, let's be honest, we're
not gonna be doing any tubing, let's go explore. Well, didn't necessarily
come for the tubing. I didn't even know there was tubing here. But someone recommended
the town of New Braunfels, and we're going to the
Historic District now, if I can find it. Oh, another Mini. $15 tube rental. Hmm. (upbeat electronic music) Well, here we are, the Historic District. This is the... Gruene here, a pretty historic town, founded by German immigrant
farmers in the mid-1840s. The main industry nowadays,
however, is tourism. But the thing is, there are so many over-the-top German-themed
towns around the country, you probably know which I'm talking about, that Gruene here feels
somewhat underwhelming. I guess expectations are everything, and I was expecting perhaps
a mixture of Helen, Georgia, with a splash of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and it is not like that at all. It is actually refreshingly understated, and the Guadalupe River
here is absolutely gorgeous. (light keyboard music) Ooh, and it is a historic bridge. There's a winery, so how
about a wine tasting? We are in Texas wine country, after all. And before I was into IPAs, I was actually a little
bit of a wine enthusiast. I'll start with a
Gewurztraminer and then a red, and it is a pretty cool winery. They also have some infused wines. Well, that was a nice little
tasting for four bucks. They have all kinds of quirky shops here. After much indecisiveness, I am going to go into Mozie's here. I'm kind of in the mood for bar food. Got a Hopadillo IPA from
Houston-based Karbach Brewery and some sliders with the
most incredible melted cheese. Well, that certainly hit the right spot. Now, let's... Let's go to San Antonio. (light electronic music) Actually, before we go to San Antonio, I think I've found that famous Landa Park, so let's fly over there. Off to San Antonio we go. A lotta people have left
the campground today. At least both of my neighbors did. That's why it probably
feels like a lot more. All right. It's gonna be a hundred
degrees today, by the way. "Why are we going back to
San Antonio," you might ask. Well, first of all, we're having a rally, which Paul and Teana
of RV Caravan With Us, they have been planning it for months, and they've done plenty of research. We're gonna do a few things
that we didn't have time to do when we were there a couple of days ago, so think of it as San Antonio, part two. For example, we're going
to see the missions, we're gonna go to the observation deck of the Tower of the Americas, we're gonna visit historic Menger Hotel, and, I don't know, so much more. But all in good time. We still have to make it there. Before we continue toward San Antonio, I wanna talk about the Ridge Wallet, and they've been very kindly sponsoring the past couple of episodes. And this definitely
represents a paradigm shift when it comes to wallets. It's these two sheets of metal, you put your credit cards in the middle, and then it has a money
clip for your cash, and some of them have a cash strap, which is a different style. Very simple, very minimalist. It is RFID-blocking, so
it protects your privacy. And basically, in order to use
it, all you do is push out. And they recommend that the
cards that you use the most, you put 'em in the front or in the back, so that's where I have my driver's license and the Visa card that I use the most. Anyway, go to ridge.com/myrv. I'm gonna put a link in the description. And if you use the promo code 'MYRV,' you get a 10% discount. Now, off to San Antonio we go. I'm gonna make a quick stop
here at the Petro truck stop because they happen to
have an Amazon Locker and I ordered some stuff. Amazon Lockers, by the way, a
great way to buy stuff online when you are on the road. (electronic music) And here we are, Alamo City RV Resort. And this is where the rally is going to take place, tomorrow. We've arrived a day early
to have everything ready and relax a little bit. It is incredibly hot, so I'll be brief. So far, very nice RV park here. And even the pedestals are brand new. And check it out: This
is Paul and Teana's RV. RV Caravan With Us. And they... They made a welcome sign for the rally. And, yeah, apparently, apparently, I'm a YouTube celebrity. Who would have thunk it, huh? Anyways, I'm gonna connect
the sewer hose now. And lately I've been doing this thing, I call it the thread test. If the thread on the sewer works, that means it's a good RV park. If the thread on the sewer doesn't work... Most of them don't work. And I know I'm not wearing
gloves, but I'll wash my hands. Let's do the thread test. Oh, this one is kind of stuck. Let's see this one. Okay, this one works, so it passed. It passed the thread test. (smooth jazz music) Actually, I decided to
put it on the lower one since my trailer is so low clearance. Yeah, this has got to
be a brand new place. I mean, even the picnic
tables are brand new. TexasTables.net. Who's calling me? Unknown number. You know, get a lot of those calls lately. All right, let's unhook. (upbeat electronic music) Beautiful day in San
Antonio, let me tell ya. I'm just gonna go jump
in the pool real quick and then I'm gonna join Paul and Teana at the brewery where we're
gonna have the meetup. It's very nice, very inviting,
actually, with this heat. (sighing) That was so refreshing. Now, off to the brewery to
meet up with Paul and Teana. It is called a Green Tractor IPA. And look who's here. Yay, Paul and Teana! They've been all day walking
around, doing research, getting things ready for the rally. Pork chops and the quesadillas. Paul got the quesadillas. And I got the barbecue. In Texas, you know. I've had barbecue pretty much every day. But we're gonna have lunch. I got me a growler of
the Green Tractor IPA, and back to the campground we go. (smooth keyboard music) Well, this was a little
