we've spent the last three weeks building this entirely new line in my yard and it's been awesome so this is a medium-sized jump line for my son milo and to be honest it's a pretty good warm-up line for me too it's nice to finally have something medium-sized in the yard in between the pump track which we made more jumpable for owen so it's more of a jump track and then the big jumps that are my jumps which are super fun and floaty and really pretty chill but they're big and we started out building this line with the roll in so we could set our speed and figure out how big to make the jumps after that we figured out where the whole line was going built the landings up with wood so that we could hold the dirt into place and cut down on future maintenance because in the spring all we're going to have to do is pack the riding surface we don't have to worry about the sides we don't have to worry about losing dirt all over the place it's going to really save us a lot of time on maintenance and after we finished all the dirt work on the rollers and in between the landings then we built the lips and we built wooden lips so that we can move them around and adjust them to make the line work perfect and that brings us up to today's build so when you build a new line it almost never works perfect right off the bat it's always going to need to be adjusted to make it ride how you wanted it to ride when you thought up the design so we're gonna do a few build projects today to make this line work perfect the first one we're gonna do is adjust the first lip so this first lip i actually made a mistake when i was building it when we started testing out this first lip i noticed that it was flexing a little bit at the bottom and so looking into it i realized i put the bottom one horizontal without putting a vertical one next to it so the ribs have to be vertical to make them stronger when you push on a two by four vertically it's a lot stiffer than horizontally so that's why the rest of the ribs on the lip are vertical and i'll need to put a vertical one in right behind that horizontal and that should fix the problem so all we're going to have to do for this fix is tip the lip on its side put the board in and then screw it into place and that should fix it [Music] and of course you want to screw the rib to your top sheet as well so it holds everything together so it reduces flex even more looks good and should be much more solid just going to tune up the dirt at the bottom now so it's nice and flush up to the lip and then we can test it out and see if it's stiffer yeah i just figured out the front tire on my push pipe is flat it is flat well we need to put a new tube in you want to do that yeah let's go show them how to fix this flat tire how'd you get a flat tire on it owen sending it too hard i don't know this little thing right here that's so that if your nut comes loose there your wheel doesn't fall off so you need to pop that thing off too oh this is gonna there you go perfect take the front wheel off just smack the top of it no no no don't hit no because that'll mess up the threads just the top of the tire right there so if you use two of them you can pop it off a little bit closer nice now you pull it the rest of the way down around it so if you pinch this right here to pull the tire back out of the way then it'll let you push the valve stem and pull it out perfect okay new flat well now we got to test it to figure out what gave us the flat okay and we'll pump it up big and then we'll find out where the air was leaking okay is that a funny noise yeah okay when here's your patch kit should take that metal thing and scrape the rubber all around where the hole is about an inch now grab a patch so these are really easy they're like a sticker [Music] next we need to check the tire to see if the thing that caused the flat is still in there if we don't find that then we might get another flat from it that'd be a bummer wouldn't it there it is there i can feel it right there that's the top of a thorn oh that's sharp yeah it's sharp isn't it now what do we do okay so we need to push that out get it isn't crazy that little tiny thorn right there is what caused the flat on yeah right now the tube is way too big do you want to know how to let some air out yeah see how there's a little thing sticking up yeah you push that down is it nice to be able to fix things yourself instead of taking it to someone else to fix yeah so this right here this hard part that's a wire bead that's called your bead of your tire so put one side of the bead on first all the way around you gotta push hard so pull this all the way back like that and then push the valve stem all the way through okay then stuff the tube in all the way around the tire awesome now we just need to put the bead back on so this is where you can use your tire levers to pop it the rest of the way on there you go now that's fun okay nice and tight yeah perfect what do you think about that you fixed your first flat tire perfect your tool wall is looking good owen now you can go back to doing wild maneuvers on the push bike sick tail whip oh sick bar spin owen the next thing we're gonna do in the line is pull back the second lip so when we set the jumps up originally i wanted them to be really easy to get through for milo so he wasn't sweating it at all i wanted to make it so if anything you go a little deep and land a little low because that's a lot safer than fork casing on a steep landing but i guessed a little bit short on the second one i mean it works great but half the time we're landing flat so it's gotta come back this one ended up at exactly eight feet from the take off to the knuckle i think since we're going downhill we're losing elevation you're actually going to gain speed from landing this one and pumping the bottom so right now it's at seven and a half feet we're gonna move this lip back a foot if you've been watching my other builds on the channel you'll know the first thing we do to get any dirt work started is to water this dirt so let's get this stuff wet and then we can remove the material at the bottom and then all we'll have to do is slide the lip back one foot and tune up the bottom so along with moving this lip back what i'm going to do is make sure to put a drain in so that i can drain any water that's coming off the lip down to the side and away from the lip looking good milo that's hard yeah what do we need to do now uh we need to build the berm so after you hit the jump line to get back into the rolling yep that's a good idea what do you think about that owen finally oh and you seem taller than normal i know all the way from the house down here you went downsteps on those things yes that's crazy the end of the yard huh what do we need to do to this dirt here before we move on water yeah little mini trail boss that tire holding there yep nice work fixing it owen thanks i think what we need to do is we'll put some wood up against the side of that lip and then we can stack a bunch of dirt in there and then we'll actually turn this into a roller that goes into a berm and then also owen will be able to hit that first lip like a hip and turn right so he can start working his way up to hitting this jump by hitting it as a hip first and that way we can use the roll in without hitting your jump so we can go down the roll in hit the berm and then come into the pump track so it'll be great for warming up so halfway through this project we realized that the route to the pump track for the kids is pretty much gone now and so to fix that we're gonna also put a board in on the back of the lip so that we can fill that in with dirt and then make a nice path so the kids still have a route too if they're not jumping and not going off the main rolling oh you want chicken out who let the chicken down let the chicken what do you think about the new rollers i think she likes them oh little chicks are checking out the bike i think they're stoked on it what's up juno juno do you do any tricks good girl 360. that's a sweet 360. we got dirt jumped chickens and we got a dirt jump dog right owen [Music] bye it's gonna be soft okay all the digging's done now we're riding let's test this thing out first so this first feature has a bunch of ways to ride it we have the jump of course we have the ride through where milo's at right now for a super chill way to get from that side into the pump track then we have the berm right here and the berm will take you from the roll in into the pump track and from the pump track back up the rolling with our speed and then a more adventurous way which is the lip into this landing [Music] you know that was my first time following you through real dirt jumps if you like what you saw today consider subscribing we're doing stuff like this all the time it's awesome to have you along for the ride i hope you enjoyed this video stay tuned for the next adventure you
