So much Ten AGGGHHHHHH
The dance performance is honestly very cool but mashup is horrible.
HOW IS JAEGUCHI GONNA FIT ALL 23 MEMBERS ON A LYRICS VIDEO
Maybe I’ll need a fancam to change my mind but if this was gonna be the case, they should’ve just used Raise The Roof as a stand-alone song and added a dance break after every chorus or something
This is awesome but its less like an MV and more like an extremely high budget Performance Medley. Nothing wrong with that, it's just a little odd if SM is genuinely trying to market this as one song. It's nothing like their previous mash-up attempts outside of the bridge... which is incredible.
Hard slowing the energy from the build up to the chorus and then jumping straight into a different song is bound to annoy some people who are used to hearing the songs on their own, too.
The Raise The Roof parts are S tier >>>> literally make a 23 member extended version of Raise The Roof and add a dance break and we could've had something great SM WHY This is not to say I didn't enjoy the MV or the choreo just like... SM misses so many good opportunities with NCT
these are clearly 4 songs that were never meant to be put together like this and it shows. this isn't anything like one or sherlock where theres a legitimate flow, its just a basic mash-up without actual transitions.
if they wanted to use raise the roof so much, they should've had that track just be a 23 member track and not this. its a shame bc i love black on black and most of the nct 2020 songs but this just isnt it.
I don't know how I feel about this. Visually, this was great and I really enjoyed it. The sets were cool and all the outfits were gorgeous.
Musically, I'm very underwhelmed. I had thought they would try to merge everything more cohesively but it's literally just chunks of each song seperated by a record-scratch type of moment.
Either way, it's still a cool project. It's nice to see everyone together again.
As someone has said in a thread it is a perfect ending and a summary of the Resonance era, no matter how flawed people can find it. Despite maybe a bit underwhelming remixing of the original songs (all but Raise the Roof), the breakdowns from ot23 to smaller groups help to not feel so overwhelmed, because, well. That's a lot of them at once for 5 minutes straight. The camera work was stellar (apart from the nightmare that was the final aerial shots), the styling is nice and calls back to Black on Black, as well as gives a recap of the past several months (save for From Home). They checked a lot of boxes with that one.
Overall, I felt that from a visual standpoint, Empathy was much more cohesive (despite the various styles of Boss, Touch, Go and Black on Black). The dream and reality theme went really well throughout the physicals and the mv direction. All that with a cost of "fairness" where most of the members did not get to shine nearly as much as others.
Compared to that Resonance is the fairest they can possibly be with 23 members in a group (more fair would only be an album with solos for everyone, I swear). Musically the album has FINALLY showcased just what they can do with all the various combinations, all while giving the beloved Boss combination back. For me personally, as a graphic designer, the era felt a bit flat. The visual themes (past, future, departure, arrival) felt a bit slapped on top of the album concept like a sticker, ironically enough. So to echo, they checked the boxes, but didn't quite make a full package for me. The album is still my second favourite NCT-release behind Neo Zone this year, so I'm not too salty about it.
The way they were just flexing their incredible vocal line for the last minute
Pretty sure there were Xiaojun Renjun, Taeil, Doyoung, Kun Haechan high notes. Will have to listen for Chenle to see if i heard him
