meet the Barretts a small-town family of arms dealers their renovations have led to a sniper rifle that can disrupt car bombs from a mile away their guns are in the hands of the best military snipers think there's any video game that'll beat that [Music] deep in the woods of Tennessee there's a training facility for soldiers security personnel and mercenaries for hire I'll save over set they can say whatever they want when were set were set take the time do it right while learning contemporary warfare tactics they shoot real ammo and utilize state-of-the-art weapons one of their guns the m107 sniper rifle can disrupt a car bomb for more than two football fields away that high-tech gun comes from an unexpected source a family business and Murfreesboro Tennessee called barrett firearms so mac-11 30-plus years old shoots incredibly fast though now if that isn't nice they're led by Ronnie Barrett who invented the m107 when he was just 28 years old all right well this is my little personal safe that I've got here in the R&D department my first submachine guns here which was I used to run in competitions this is little boozy submachine gun that's they're so fun I have one at nine millimeter one in 45 this is a this is a tommy gun the FBI used him a lot of course it made the Roaring Twenties war and everything Ronny designs builds and sells guns with his son and daughter Chris and Angela I'm Angela Barrett viz media director I do anything from trade shows to website to graphic arts photography and actually Monty could you show me a Smith & Wesson old jframe right there with hammer and I've kind of a sentimental attachment to this particular model when I was 21 years old my father as my birthday present came to me and he had a little leather gun case and this was my very first floor revolver my name is Chris Barrett and I am a director of barrett firearms manufacturing inc you know from a very young childhood Dean in this gun culture and be able to shoot guns and design guns and work on guns and this is my job and this is my purpose today their company creates in markets five different rifles with more designs on the way but their flagship gun is the m107 how and why did Ronnie come up with the idea of what would become the world's first semi-automatic 50 caliber rifle it came from a lifelong love for weapons the biggest baddest boy you could have was the 50 caliber browning cartridge but it was only available in a machine gun and so since it didn't have anything that that an individual could just easily play with I just made one myself [Music] 50 caliber cartridges are some of the largest infantry bullets in the world this is the standard US military five five six millimeter cartridge this shoots a point two to 4 diameter bullet this is the 50 caliber this shoots a diameter boy that is point five zero it would be like getting hit in the face with a baseball or a bowling ball there's a lot more powder behind this there's a lot more energy developed and there's a lot more recoil so you're going to find the 50 caliber penetrating more sandbags more dirt more concrete walls it's an object in motion that has more mass it's going to hit harder downrange Ronnie's prototype rifle was first test-fired hanging from a swing set in his backyard he called it the model 82 renamed the m107 when adopted by the military years later early on there was a lot of frustrations people look at it and laugh you know they think what am I going to do with that it was a real departure of anything that had been ever to be able have a shoulder-fired 50 everybody's looking for the bigger gun the faster car the bigger house and that's what I was looking for when I was decided to build the 50 caliber rifle his gun included two crucial elements both of which significantly cut down on recoil the reverse motion of the gun many people call its kick first he included a barrel that retracts as it fires and he built a muzzle brake which vents away 70% of each shots energy the result is a big gun that's easy on the shoulder of its user the entire gun is made to be able to take heavy recalling cartridges and to be able to buffer them down so that the human shoulder would be able to handle it Rani made his first sale to the Swedish army in 1989 which got the u.s. army interested and the rest is fifty-caliber history it's the biggest the baddest thing that you can have and it's that's what made it such a great gun in 60 different governments today Ronnie Barrett is considered a rock star in the world of firearms and his family business means working and playing with his son and daughter hmm who's a better shot me or my sister positively me about the sheet right sevens with my dad and brother stay it like ties back to hit you in the face and you're gonna take it like that yeah you can hear that hey like that's alright I don't think there's any video game that'll beat that the m107 is made here in an 80,000 square foot manufacturing plant just outside of Murfreesboro Tennessee but perhaps the most unique aspect of the Barrett manufacturing process as how they are assembled one individual fully completes each rifle no assembly lines we're all certified armors we become their familiar with with the parts of something doesn't sound right feel right we know exactly what it is this real right now it's got to be straight it is not overly complex less is more I would say as far as being durable so it's a very functional easy to easy use weapon you wouldn't like to feel the shoot guns all day long and a special indoor range built inside a 360 foot long bunker each rifle is test-fired for quality control metrics are measured and recorded by computer a record of how each gun performs this is our 10 meter indoor range where we do all the shooting as it gathers data such as velocity we have four acoustic microphones that pick up for exactly the round impacts and instead of wasting paper and time walking downrange we can see that immediate results right there [Music] you can function good it's nice and smooth we don't have any hang-ups with rejection so at this point we would give it our quality stamp and it would move on to have this post test fire inspection if it's not right it is not get out the door and even after guns do go out the door the weapons used in the field are serviced by Barrett these are Fort Lewis Washington US Army unit say a good 80% of them were used in combat by the way the bore conditions were and how filthy they was in the camouflage paint Don cook himself a Marine has been servicing m107 s for 17 years he'll never forget the time he received a call from a soldier needing help during an active firefight probably one of the biggest highlights in my life to be able to help the Marine unit in a firefight what had happened is they bent the ears of their lower receiver up the night before doing some maintenance on and when they got in this firefight they realized every time you squeeze the trigger it wasn't firing religiously the only thing I could tell them because the lack of tools and time was they needed to bend those ears down so I told them to use the bottom of the carrier and bend it back down to where they could actually get it back in the operation they accomplished that and over 30 seconds 45 seconds and before I knew it they actually have the weapon firing again they told me thank you very much they had more important things to do and I heard a dial tone them it was that quick calls from the frontlines don't arrive every day but Ronnie gets feedback from soldiers in all sorts of ways this is a scope cap off of one of the rifles that had come back in from Iraq has written in there Lord forgive me for what I'm about to do but these bastards must die it's a chilling reminder of the horror of war and the power inside these guns to end lives you know and it's it kind of relates the desperation of the feeling of that's that's in those moments prior to pulling the trigger memorabilia like this and other letters from the front that are just so sincere and so so personalized it can tear you up and the R&D lab an innovative new weapon designed by Chris is about to hit center stage it could be the first time in American history that a father and son have had their guns adopted by the army in the research and design department at the Barretts factory work is underway on the next generation combat rifle it's called the mrad and it's modular design can adapt to changing missions it can shoot with different barrels and several kinds of bullets this is the mrad the multi-role adaptive design rifle this is the hot new thing in barrett but it started off of the 98b platform which is this rifle but it had room for improvement there it had room for additions and more modularity so what we have here is a an intermediate rifle but we started addressing some of those things different barrel lengths we saw more need for portability and compactness than we did the ultimate velocity and long-range capability of the gun and the ultimate configuration is the mrad and we added the folding stock drop free magazine but most importantly we identify the need to reconfigure the barrel how this shorter barrel can easily be installed by removing these two bolts eventually the Barrett's hope this rifle will be adopted by US Armed Forces but their guns take years to perfect and there's still plenty of design and testing left to do on the weapon system we're taking the in red and we're making a multi caliber out of it we're gonna adapt it down to a smaller cartridge a smaller cavity now so you think it's no big deal to take it to shoot that make it shoot this basically we haven't we have a magazine now that feeds the 338 cartridge but it will not work for this new small cartridge you have to have a specific magazine it involves doing the hardest thing there is making another magazine well there's different ways you do that you've a single feed than one on top of another that's the easiest of all to do but we've got all this room so we're going to double stack them so we're going to put one on one side one on the other but we're going to have to go from a double stack into a single feed and so that's why you're only seeing one cartridge at the top as they funnel in throw a little sand and grit in there you've got a locked up gun and the magazine is the most vulnerable part on any magazine fed gun this you're gonna have tension all the way up on all of those I think it's gonna be too much dragging and on our other one you've only got a little tension at the very top so I'd go with the one on the left I like it that problem may be solved but the design of the mrad continues things for the soldier over the years haven't changed a lot it is always a constant desire to have a gun that is lighter stronger more accurate faster all these things that never changes depending on demand the factory can manufacture and ship up to six hundred fifty caliber rifles a month the John F Kennedy Special Warfare Center in school at Fort Bragg is home to the US Army's Special Forces sniper course we take the students got a basic level you get them on the flat rate initially and then we start making corrections to make them a better shooter the Barons visit Fort Bragg to see their weapons in action and gain valuable feedback directly from the troops who train with the guns and use them in combat things going wrong in a demonstration used to bother me but not anymore that's what you want them to go wrong that's that's what you want to make discoveries of shortcomings it's also a rare opportunity for the snipers to meet the man who designed the rifle they often use in battle face to face well how many of you have used the rare rifle before because of the delicate nature of the Special Forces role in combat our cameras were not allowed to identify the soldiers the great weapon system you know it's I love that be able to reach out and touch someone with that large of a projectile definitely makes an effect on the battlefield yet target practice begins with the m107 snipers trained to condition themselves to the significant recoil of a 50 caliber rifle but today the soldiers battle a problem not with a gun itself but the ammo much of which dates back 60 years this is a us-made 1943 feel it on the on the cartridge where the brass has developed all this crud that ends up being all the chamber walls and it's highly corrosive and that seems to be the only malfunctions I've ever seen with it is failure to extract yeah well that's what it is so after you file this you're gonna have to take this gun down soapy water wash it just to get the stuff off of it I just it's ok on a range like this I just you know when you go to risk in your life with it you know I'd be a little steel wool cleaning that stuff up one of the advantages of this rifle is how easily it has broken down for quick adjustments in the field like this one and soon target practice continues close it ought to be good zeroing in on a target that may be more than a mile away requires two people a sniper or shooter and the spotter 250 meters out I got it quarter the turret yeah talk about the spotter is like a navigator on a fighter jet informing the pilot or in this case the sniper about direction and distance yeah ready Center the biggest complaint about the m107 by Special Forces is its weight you're the unlucky guy in the mountains of some other region of the world you might have it strapped on your back hating life that day we're working on a version now in 107 a 1 which will be your upgraded in 107 and it's 4 pounds lighter so on a 30 pound gun 4 pounds off is significant it's it's like any other weapons design as they mature along 10 years goes by enough of you guys have feedback to say give me this give me that and so we're now ready to have the UM 107 81 and probably most importantly it comes in brown now yeah yeah so it looks cool which is rule number one of course target practice on the range where no one is firing back is one thing hearing from a soldier who used the m107 in combat is another I'm sorry Nicholas rancid I currently hold the US Army record for the longest night per kill at 2065 meters at Fort Bragg North Carolina some of the Army's most elite snipers trained on the 50 caliber m107 one of the soldiers there holds the record for the longest hit using that gun his name is Nick Randstad I'm sorry Nicholas rancid I currently hold the u.s. army record for the longest hyper kill at 2065 meters sergeant Nick rands dad's record sniper shot at the distance of over a mile and a quarter took place in the Kunar province of Afghanistan just north of the Korengal Valley near the Pakistan border in January 2008 today will mark the first time Nick has gone on camera to talk about his record sniper shot for ACM anti-coalition militia killing construction workers a couple days before that so we knew they're bad guys up there I spotted one with an ache a back to my platoon starting and gave me the go-ahead most snipers trained with targets up to half a mile away next target was more than twice that over 22 football fields long me and my spotter got up on the the ABP police station and we dialed in spotter Alex Simpson helped tranced add zero in on his target shot at my primary target saw dust kicked up about six eight feet in front of him the enemy had no idea that the dust was actually from a 50 caliber bullet fired from over a mile away my secondary exposed itself in one of them in front of one of the boulders and I hit him today sniper Nick Randstad will meet Ronnie for the first time it's gonna be it's gonna be an honor to meet this man we're gonna we're gonna have the opportunity to finally meet Nick because who who could better advise us on this gun that somebody's used it like this finally get to tell them what's wrong with their weapon and what I really like about it gonna meet you Ronnie Barrett I'm honored to meet you sir you too thank you so very much for your service let's make sure your weapon we well we got it we got a couple over here let's go shoot all right yes you better meet no sir the Barents watch as sergeant Randstad puts their gun through its paces and offers insight and advice for future versions of the rifle then 107 is important but it is a sniper behind the rifle his training everything comes into play the best thing about them 107 is the accuracy you get how far you're shooting it's really durable you can beat the crap out of it's still going to hold a zero-sum cons it is heavy but dealing with that kind of that kind of round it's good I mean it's a 50 Cal there's nothing light about a 50 Cal it's easy and quick you put it together and take it apart within minutes if you know the system the way we employed it downrange we carried it like you said Bush style and it benefit to get a pad on there that'd be great you won't try the sails depressor yep let's do it I learned that Nick is an amazing shot and he's a natural with a Barrett rifle and we got some good feedback off of him awesome he showed us a new way to carry the gun you know it's amazing things like that you just don't come up with an elaborate Orion you're just not gonna get it until you talk to somebody like Nick who has been there and done it it's nice for my dad I came to imagine what he feels like for him to take his gun from 1982 and to be using the hands of a hero I Nick I mean it's uh it must be a great honor for him back in Murfreesboro the Barretts take the lessons learned at Fort Bragg and apply them to the next generation 50 cow it's called the m107 a1 you know we're always trying to take weight off the rifle you know with a soldier already carrying 70 pounds of equipment on his back if we can take 4 pounds off of that rifle you know that's that's a great improvement but it's weight is not easy to change since it takes so much mass to propel a 50 caliber bullet at speeds of two thousand eight hundred fifty feet per second this is the document that we need to get signed off so we can build the next 30 Bonnie thinks he can create a lighter version of the m107 using an aluminum upper receiver the upper outside body of the rifle field at an outdoor firing range not far from headquarters the Barrett family puts the new m107 a1 through its paces these tests include firing the gun until it gets hot the gauge exactly how heat affects the weapons performance a huge sniper rifle immediately draws onlookers would you like to shoot yourself I just had a chance to shoot the new Barrett 50 caliber up pretty much exhilaration it is uh you know there's not much that you can shoot out there outside of a big bore rifle to equal a 50 caliber it's something else it'll take an arm or leg off you know it hits you in the torso you can pretty much hang it up it will kill you after testing the Barretts take advantage of the range time and unwind with another other weapons called the rx-7 the rx-7 is our reliability enhanced carbine it's barely a heavy duty piston operated I've never done full lot over four I love the sound of that as the new m107 a one hits the arms market it'll be followed closely by Chris's modular mrad weapon a gun designed from the ground up to transform and adapt to a soldier's changing needs on the battlefield [Music] American arms dealer Ronnie Barrett is pushing for his new lighter m107 a1 to be adopted by the military at the same time his son Chris has been developing his own unique weapon the M rack this gun is designed from the start to be a combat gun you know the main key about the mrad is its adaptability the mrad uses the fast and very accurate 338 round which was developed for long-range military use it's smaller than many 308 caliber sniper rifles it's modular it has a separate upper and lower receiver half the barrels change out the front for quick caliber conversions from a folding stock adjustable cheek piece and adjustable wink and pull the overall package is just beautiful because it's so small the mrad is still being perfected one problem with the latest prototype is its trigger system which failed to function well in a desert environment today with a very specific testing on the M rod in the trigger area what happened with this trigger group is through use that you could introduce so much dust and foreign matter into the gun mechanism into the trigger mechanism that could cause a gritty feeling and the trigger and sometimes a failure to fire very happy with the way the trigger is behaving now feels good I'm still thinking we need to bring this pivot forward and down to change that geometry can't you can't keep sand out so all we can do is let it out let it go what we need to do now is hit the computers and get in there and your model we're going to draw up some ideas I think we already have a good idea to make this trigger group that's going to plow through any dirt what's going to try that and see what completely lull it up let's model it up these are used by the warfighters it the scariest times of people's lives they save lives and they're dependent upon to do so and they have to work basically the leverage there's a being applied through this trigger group is not very good at working when it's dirty you get a little bit of resistance in there that's going to hang it see they're not gonna return there's not gonna release what do you think move to put it on down and for this this is the new axis by reshaping the internal workings of the trigger and more of an angle dirt and grit won't get trapped inside Yolen the new proposed for group overlaid the whole land okay okay I see let's let's build bad [Music] here is our new new trigger revision prototype number one and I'm highly confident that this one is going to be absolutely dirt proof I think it's going to power through anything the new revision of the trigger group basically just utilizes some adjusted pivot points so now we've got that forces working the way we want them to the angle of the new forward pivot placement should make the trigger mechanism stronger while sand and dirt is released through the trigger area here's one way for us to find out and that's try it out in that condition so fortunately these things are easy to swap out now with old in with the new let's hope this does it [Music] if all goes as planned chris is designed for the mrad rifle well battle alongside Ronnie's updated m107 a1 for a new military contract I feel a lot of pressure to get this rifle adopted by the US Army Ronnie dad does not put any pressure on me he doesn't mean to but you can certainly feel it once arms dealers like the merits build a gun like the M red where do they go to sell it conventions like this one in Washington DC the association of the United States Army known as AUSA there are a few main trade shows and events throughout the year that are major major business opportunities for us in three days you can do more business than you can do in six months sitting in an office you've got enough people that are going to be working in the booth the rifles are going to be on the tables so just be there and be ready to do some business the biggest one I've been working on would be the AUSA manufacturers and the military defense industry are they're from the lowest level to the highest level this room here is the exhibit hall where everybody that sells or wants to sell to the United States Army or even be seen by foreign armies will be displaying their most current up-to-date wares although still being perfected the parents have brought the mrad with them this year to introduce it to the crowd at AUSA feel changeable barrel that withdraws out the front well alright so the Army's really looking right now for the best PS our precision sniper rifle and and we've got the mrad out here to be seen for it a couple of other competitors will probably be out here also a lot more punch to the same size or smaller really live for what it is the best thing that I could be doing right now is showing the new m107 a1 we've brought it here to be seen for the very first time by the troops to get some of their responses from it hold it feel it grip it so right now we're out here humping this m107 a1 but although the Barretts made their reputation with the military they support their business through non-military weapons sales at their outpost Armory the outpost armory is a store do we open almost two years ago now we thought what do we know best we know guns let's try a gun store let's try a retail gun store and it's working very well so far we have all types of guns well the customers on the commercial market that look at the 50s they range from collectors to people who are long-range shooting competitors to just people who are just gonna Theseus they're just one of the biggest baddest thing they can get despite controversy over private citizens owning military great guns and every state but California it is legal for civilians to own their own 50 caliber rifle bear rifles are made famous by the military but it's the consumer market that sustains us of course owning your own 50 caliber is one thing but learning how to use it takes training for that you come to places like this a few hours from Nashville lies a school where security military and law enforcement personnel get first-hand experience using an m107 and other military-style weapons the Barretts use this place as a working laboratory to test their guns I'll wait before dawn touch response is a training facility where we train police military and civilians to protect themselves in dangerous situations this is a live fire drill fired with somato and Falah tow machine guns ambushes begin with the most casualty-producing rope weapons the reason we're implementing Barretts into this is because they are designed to stop vehicles Ronnie and Chris watch nearby out of the line of fire get it time to break up outline of the gun a little bit it's actually pretty nice job yeah you you'd have trouble spot now yeah we have an alliance with Barrett firearms we help with the prototype and testing of their weapons and they were fortunate left to be able to use them in drills like this and they appreciate the feedback that we give them to help further their design and research if there is a place we're going to break it would be a tactical response because the intensity of this training is pushes equipment to the limits so whoever something 107 is gonna be suppressing it's going to be a - a vehicle suppressing where a while others are assaulting the m107 will initiate the ambush okay the cross there doesn't have to be leveled like this shot James points out some problems that the Barretts need to overcome with the m107 the downside to the barrett is it's heavy and so it's a lumber 'some to carry around it does four pounds make a difference oh yeah when you're digging in it and eating it forward like that but that definitely does participants are firing live ammo for better real-life experience handling weapons the students are about to get into position to begin the final exercise for the second team has left the initial ambush site and they don't know it yet but they're going to encounter a patrol of enemy forces now one of the instructors will arbitrarily pick one of them to have been wounded in some body part the team will have to provide some type of medical aid and evacuation of the wounded soldier that was a successful ambush and that was that was what they want a seven does best to stop the vehicle right now students use junk vehicles like these for target practice and a OD or explosive ordnance disposal drills this is an explosive charge that is set off by a high velocity impact from for instance a rifle and we're going to set it off with the with a bare 50 caliber bombs that may be in a vehicle can be disrupted by the 50 caliber rifle five the military units that are using the barrett they use it like it's a tool like it's a pair of wire cutters or anything else it's not viewed to those units as a rifle they use it actually as another tool in their toolbox because of the rifles long-range accuracy the 50 caliber can be used to detonate car bombs and other explosive devices from a safe distance I thought that little bees was heading our way that's actually done the ammonium nitrate based explosive is set off on impact shredding the passenger van but it takes a high-powered rifle like the m107 to make that impact Wow this is why it's a much better idea to stay back with a rifle to disrupt a bomb rather than send a man up here in being able to detonate it on your terms at your distance your safe distance means everything in a situation like this [Applause] Tactical Response is also where they will test the new improved versions of the m107 a1 and mrad Rani's m107 a1 is 4 pounds lighter than the original m107 talked to a marine one time that they had mislabeled their landing zone and he had to carry the rifle 50 miles to a second landing zone what would those four pounds of meant to that marine but let's see if it affects the penetrating power by aiming at three quarter-inch steel plates this high-speed shot shows the 50 caliber slicing true steel like a hot knife through butter leaving a spectacular firestorm in its wake it feels and acts exactly the way the rifle they am now right you know this is good burn right through the first play the second plate doesn't look that impressive from the front but look in the back we got we got penetration on the third place amazing that is exactly what I wanted it to be it is a it is a real badass right with a lighter weight better accuracy so far the new m107 a1 works up to expectations chris is doing his own test to check the reliability of the new trigger system on his M red this trigger now is passing the dirt test is passing the hearts environment test and all the drop tests so I still they it feels good to the larger 50 caliber round went through three steel plates with no problem Chris is using a smaller 338 bullet aiming at five steel buckets filled with water the integrity of the new mrad trigger holds up but what about the buckets [Music] what a very high velocity project on his water it uh it loses that trajectory that it had establish going through the air yeah it started decelerating real quickly water is a great bullet stuff but the mrad 338 round was able to cut straight through three buckets before stopping and when let loose on the same cinderblock wall both the m107 a1 and mrad have an equally devastating effect I haven't been to get out and shoot this gun as much as I've wanted to so to be able to come out and use it today and see see it make hits see how flawless the trigger works its I'm just thrilled Ronnie and Chris are about to unveil a new weapon that employs an innovative type of ammunition being used on a Barrett gun for the very first time the XM 109 is an experimental gun that's part rifle part grenade launcher it's 25 millimeter ammo is able to explode in midair called smart rounds in the arms business these shells can be timed to detonate over the enemy's heads well the training practice for hours just an inert bullet so there's no explosives in this actual projectile a high explosive armor penetrating would have exposed to some shaped charges but these are just for practice you've got troops dug into the ground you fire over the head and it just bursts above their heads it uses ammo that is so rare that these practice rounds cost $100 apiece yes as rifles goes this would be one of us expensive and most as cannons go this would be one of the least expensive the rifle itself is actually a converted m107 a modular type live when you can take the upper receiver all put another receiver on this is quite an ammo change it goes from a 50 caliber rifle to a 25 millimeter cannon now all of a sudden you're your soldier is capable of penetrating three inches of armor the has a classification for the ampere the anti-material payload rifle so it is delivering a heavy payload at a great distance not exactly what you call your average garden-variety sniper rifle production had stopped on the 25 millimeter rounds until recently this is the general dynamics booth that makes the ammunition for the XM 109 so now we just found out that a contract is out there to build more ammunition well guess who's got the Illinois gun that shoots that so that's very nice new model Vaughn is a gun system there's no good without a gun and ammunition you don't have a system if we start working together we could really provide the soldier a good system also on deck is this new 50 caliber sound suppressor a suppressor which can be easily attached in the field is not a silencer like in the movies but is of vital importance in helping to mask the gun flash and sound or signature of your rifle in battle making it harder for your enemy to detect your location a suppressor works sort of like a car muffler creating a series of baffles and chambers that trap turbulent gases and quiet the sound of the shot compare that to when Chris fires and m107 with a suppressor off earplugs and a fella the sound alone can reach 180 decibels loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss an issue some troops face so you can see you can see there's a huge benefit to the suppressor so that's why the troops are interested in the sound suppressor is because you see the difference on it tames it a lot but further research is ongoing to create an even more sophisticated suppressor after firing several shots it was no sticking with the carbon it popped right on and off so this is that's not in we've alien technology most people when they see this they don't even understand exactly what it does the Bors computes in real time factors such as barometric pressure elevation and tilt of the rifle to make sure that when the crosshairs are on the target that's where your bullet will hit all right just to the left of the previous target so the beauty of this system is that it alleviates one more job from the sniper and spotter team but the spotter in the past would give the sniper the range to the target and the solution that make the hit so he would tell him how much correction he has to mechanically make on the telescope the thing that was taking up a lot of time out here today was getting to a target getting adjusted and everything where if that bores is on that clicked fire with the bores you don't have to keep up with information you just dial until the number on the screen matches what the spotter told you the shooter sets the yardage and type of ammo and the bores does the rest one of the most important features of this Bors is that it allows us to have those quick solutions to make long-range hits it's still just a crosshair every time I look in a telescope with all those little crosshairs and references all over I feel like it's overwhelmed me already this allows the shooter to just shoot it does the work dial the 300 pull the trigger and you could hear the bell ring each time Wow I've not got to shoot this enough but I'm impressed before anything like this can be adopted it undergoes a lot of testing with the government and then you'll have a fielding of it with logistical supply and manuals to be written in everything and before you know it ten years is kind of flying by [Music] that works rifles have always just been a faster Rock I hope one of these days to be able to invent D fast is rock for the Barretts it's the pursuit of developing the faster rock it keeps them on the cutting edge of military weaponry and doing what they love most any time you get out with people who like bombs and guns you're gonna have a good time [Music] don't you love that sound

There's actually an established procedure like this for military training aircraft that are damaged or malfunctioning in flight. If the plane is controllable and fuel isn't a factor, they'll call up the manufacturer and have their engineers help decide whether an emergency landing or controlled ejection is more appropriate.
