so if you went ahead and pre-ordered the 90 version of nascar 21 ignition that today was your release date and oh man twitter and instagram is a bonfire right now from all the dms i've been getting from viewers of actual video footage of the game breaking in areas we didn't even know there were glitches from the content creator early access a lot of doubt for me is starting to circulate if this game will ever be fixed so you're gonna see in this very long video why it is no surprise nascar 21 ignition's launch day has been a complete disaster and mostly from the consumer standpoint and to help give us a better understanding and a little more insight into racing game developments i have my friend austin ogonoski with me and we're gonna go ahead and discuss the disaster of the launch of nascar 21 as well as some projections on when we can expect things to be fixed and how bug finding and beta testing is actually found so without further ado let's get started so i'm here with austin oganoski and uh austin i want to say hello and thank you so much for coming on yeah thanks for having me uh what you guys are doing with uh really putting the truth out there about nascar 21 ignition is really important i think you guys underestimate even yourselves of how important it is to cover a topic like this and i'm glad we're just we're getting it out of the way on launch day yeah me too so uh as of recording this video right now early access did release and twitter instagram all over the place it's blowing up over all the broken aspects to nascar 21 ignition that was covered in the last video and honestly it looks like nothing has been fixed so austin can you go and explain to everyone your background in the gaming field for the last four years up until about the spring of this year i was part of the internal qa quality assurance team for slightly mad studios i worked on project cars 2 project cars 3 and fast and furious crossroads as well as a couple unreleased games i'm obviously not allowed to talk about so i do have kind of industry insight in regards to what it takes to make both a racing sim uh and a racing sim cate or arcade racing game uh and what i'm seeing with nascar 21 ignition is just really really disgusting a lot of people are trying to defend it by saying oh it's early access oh the team is going to work on the bugs and the game will be polished into a much better product down the road uh i'm sorry guys but you're being gaslit about this whole situation what motorsport games has done with this title is is just frankly embarrassing it's probably not going to get better uh and we are in really unprecedented territory when it comes to very low quality nascar games i mean this is this is really outdone everything nascar the game 2011 uh did 10 years ago when it first released with just a ton of issues uh it's outdone nascar heat evolution this is something we're going to remember for a while and might have really big industry ramifications down the road yeah like i'm even looking right now on twitter while recording this video it is non-stop craziness when people are posting that glitches and left and right and people were making videos about saying oh we're using constructive criticism to improve the game and people are saying might as well wait till launch day to see how this comes down well early access is here a lot of people have access to the game and we are getting uh info on frame rate completely dropping videos of cars even seeping through the ground cars not even acting like race cars and for a lot of people on the console side it is what seems to be unplayable as of right now and i would say if you're playing on the pc side it seems to be a little bit better because i'm going to take a while i guess that the rfactor engine works better on the pc side well we got to back up a bit and really address a phrase you used early when introducing nascar 21 ignition the idea that this game is in early access it's not an early access i hate to break that to everyone listening to this game development is very intricate very time consuming and nothing is left to chance uh usually from month one of a game's development cycle i believe nascar 21 was under development for two years you will have both a small internal qa team quality assurance team really going over every single bug uh logging every bug from you know something really high priority like the game crashing to you know insignificant stuff like alex bowman's car is the wrong shade of purple in an internal bug database and it just it'll have everything and then every couple of months as you hit various milestones and get to the various completion stages of the product project you'll hire external qa teams you know big groups of you know 15 20 25 30 people to like mass test the game and they too will be submitting bugs to your internal database uh so you know throughout the course of the project you'll be very aware of what state your product or in this case your video game is in now when it comes to the term early access this is not early access at all the whole point behind early access is you give people a game like a year in advance when the game is very obviously not done or features are slowly being added into the game like we saw with both acetyl corsa and a subtle course of competition where you have like a year for the most hardcore of hardcore fans to really play the game in skeletal format and just find stuff that either the developers you know are so stressed that they they just didn't have the energy to find or they couldn't afford a qa team to to hunt bugs which is typical with very very small indie outlets or the developer was flying blind uh and just really needed the community's feedback because what they were building they weren't quite sure what people wanted from the sandbox nascar 21 ignition is not early access it was made by what is postured as a aaa gaming studio with a serious amount of financial backing uh and giving the game to you know just anyone who pre-ordered it you know three i think three days out from its launch on october 28th that's not early access now the next question that's going to come up that you're probably going to ask is in regards to well they can probably fix things between let's say today's date and the 28th which is about three days or they can fix things between now and let's say a month after release well unfortunately that's really not true when it comes down to the entire bug reporting and bug fixing process just a single bug can really eat up a ton of development time so the whole process is a lot more complicated than you guys might think it starts with the qa team finding and reporting bugs like eight hours a day five days a week that was my job when i worked for sms doing contract work i would wake up i would sign in at eight am and from eight am to five pm i would play p cars 3 all day and i would report bugs all day and i would grind out finding bugs all day i really can't stress that enough now when you find a bug it's not a matter of just sending the dev team a single sentence in regards to hey you know like i found a car warping through the ground here as a qa guy your job is to actually reproduce this issue over and over again and and when you report it you have to report these really detailed steps so the development team whether it be the code or like the guy working on car physics or the guy working on uh like 3d modeling or doing the track environments you have to write it in a way that these steps can easily be followed by someone who's not you know super savvy with let's say nascar because not everyone working on these games are huge nascar fans right it's just it's just a reality of the industry well i'm gonna stop you right there because you found something like really good and that i feel like has been kept a secret from a lot of people do you want to go ahead and explain uh what you found about the producers yeah so i found the site called signal hire which just listed the basic staff of motorsport games for example the person's name and the person's position and where they are located and like i'm not i'm not trying to like on like any country or like for a company making uh what's it called nascar games i thought it was surprising just how many guys from europe were on the dev team which is not something you traditionally see i mean like imagine if someone imagine if a european developer made like an nfl game like you you'd start to question how familiar they were with the content and again because motorsport games is a publicly traded company and you can start looking up uh you know people in key positions like the senior game designer on linkedin a lot of times i found that they were you know their previous work experience wasn't on racing games at all but with like mobile games you know like with with strategy games i think i saw like airport city was one of the games the team the senior game designer had worked on previously so the the staff you know like i hate saying this because obviously they're not bad people they're trying their best you know we all have to give them credit at the end of the day that like this is probably a pretty hard project for them but you know it'd be like putting me uh giving me the reins to like a basketball game or a tennis game like i don't watch either sport it would be very hard for me to kind of grasp what's really necessary for for the core fans that are going to play this game but kind of circling back to what i was saying before like the key way process you know when you're reporting a bug you have to write bugs so these people who may not be familiar with nascar or just how racing games work can really understand them and get to the root of the issue and then those people the the coders the developers the 3d artists the like the track modelers or whatever have to be able to reproduce it on their end and if it's not 100 uh that eats into time and then they have to try and fix it and a lot of these guys are pretty good at hunting bugs regardless of what kind of game it is uh because at the end of the the day it's just code sometimes there's typos or sometimes you know it's just the chain is wrong or stuff like that i'm oversimplifying it you know of course but that's basically what it is so then once they try and send in in a fix you know then you have to rebuild the game so you have to recompile everything and send it back out through steam like you know the updated build for the testers to test to see if the fix worked sometimes the fix doesn't work or introduces more problems so then it just turns into the qa guys sending the bugs you know back to the development team saying hey you actually didn't fix this you need to spend more time on it now fixing bugs in itself that's not you know a five minute thing or a ten minute thing you know sometimes in regards to some of the more serious crashes like we saw in the early access footage where guys would like load into bristol and the application would crash you know sometimes the stuff isn't that easy to fix sometimes you know this this is down for a couple days or a couple of weeks where you get a build and it's just like hey don't load this track because like it just doesn't work and we're working on it but we just we can't find the root of the issue yet so a lot of the guys sitting on youtube comments and it's a mix of what i believe to be astroturfers and just you know kids who are excited that an asker game is out these guys saying oh you know just give them a few weeks to work on a passion to iron out the issues you're really underestimating the amount of work involved for just fixing one single issue and that's before you even start addressing some of the more egregious stuff like just outright missing features like i mean this game supposedly doesn't have stage racing you know for them to address that they would have to code that in they'd have to test it they'd have to iron out every single bug that could be associated with it you know you're talking a couple months before something like that it's implemented and then you have to kind of extrapolate across every single omission that people have found like the lack of a track map the lack of a fuel gauge you know it's it's not just a matter of putting those in and calling it a day you know over the span of an afternoon we're talking about hey like it's got to be like pretty relentlessly tested it's got to be you know made sure that doesn't have any bugs associated with it if there are bugs those have got to be fixed suddenly to get you know to get this game whipped into shape that you know people are pretty satisfied with giving it like a seven out of ten it's next year and the next game is about to release so this the uphill battle that they're all facing is just really insane and you know to some extent i sympathize with with these guys you know i i do sympathize with motorsport games because you know i've been part of projects that didn't fare so well in medicaid so like i agree that it sucks but oh my goodness you know like i i understand you know the other side of it being a nascar fan and being like wow some of you all spent 100 bucks on this game and like it doesn't even have stage racing like how did you that up yeah and also i want to point some other things out too that i feel like a lot of people are missing here uh the paint booth has been like the flagship feature for this game can't even play it in career mode can't even play it in multiplayer multiplayer you can now go backwards by the way i just saw the video on it you can go backwards and multiplayer and hit other cars there's no anti-trolling system at all so people can do whatever they want multiplayer you can't really even control your own lobbies it's a mess look i think when it comes to the idea that we just need to be constructive we just need to give feedback what people need to understand is that that's just damage control that's planned damage control for a situation like this uh the developers i can assure you again like i mentioned they have intricate bug tracking software they're they're pretty fully aware uh that things are not going well i mean like i said i've been involved on a project like this i'm not going to say what it is but you can probably figure it out just by looking at metacritic scores you know no one was completely blind that's all i'm going to say on that kind of that kind of subject so in this situation i feel like the devs behind nascar 21 are just enacting the damage control plan i'm pretty sure they knew five or even 10 months out that hey like this is really not shaping up to be a good game and then it turned into okay what's what's our risk mitigation plan what's our damage control plan here so all i can really say on that aspect is to just not feed into it you know instead of just being like oh yeah i'll just calmly give them feedback on reddit or twitter you know refund the game if you don't like it don't wait around for these people because they're trying to manipulate you they're trying to gaslight you into thinking this situation isn't as bad uh as it very obviously is at this point now in regards to missing features i think you bring up an excellent point because there's just there's so much this game is missing like you mentioned with the paint booth not being able to use it in career mode or even online from what i've heard uh the ability to go back and grief people uh go by going backwards on the track and online races which is you know even even some of the worst nascar games we've had have had ways to you know prevent that from happening i think what happened is is what we call uh scope reduction in the gaming industry where basically you have this whole plan of of what you're going to build uh in the game every single feature every functionality every piece of content you basically have this like huge overall overarching plan of just everything that's going into the game and i think as it became clear that the team was struggling because a they were a new team with a bunch of people unfamiliar with the subject they're working with a new engine they weren't super familiar with i believe as development you know progressed and they started looking at the release date coming sooner and sooner even if it was still a year out i think a lot of the higher ups realize that the original scope for this game the original plan was just not going to happen they just weren't going to meet the deadline unreal is a bit flaky to work with sometimes the rfactor 2 engine that powers nascar 21 under the hood for example like the car physics and just like the basic rules of stock car racing there are just fundamental problems with it that have been pretty well documented by the rfactor 2 community and again this is all speculation as development progressed i think what ended up happening is the team realized we just have to cut absolutely everything to get the game ready to ship and suddenly it turned into yep uh we're not gonna allow custom cars in career mode or online racing because that's just that's just too much uh we're not gonna have stage racing too much and just they just went through the list and said cut this and this and this and this and suddenly you were left with a very bare bones game that doesn't have you know stuff is basically a track map you know stuff as basic as like anti-griefing measures uh because you know they just had to meet that contractually obligated deadline because i think you might have to correct me if i'm wrong but i think there's something like an agreement with maybe race team alliance someone's gonna have to correct me on this but they had to you know by any means necessary start putting out a yearly game or a yearly franchise starting in 2021 so uh actually they've been having to make a yearly game uh way before that so what i found out including back in 2018 the original contract was through 2029 for 704. that got cut given to motorsport games i don't know if it's now 20 26 or still 2029 but it seems to still be a very long time they have to put out a yearly game now this is where the problem i have comes into play when we knew nascar 15 was gonna be a copy and paste in nascar 14. i remember a video literally coming out saying we know the game basically has the same graphics the same physics it's really just an upgrade to uh actually uh a season upgrade so we're gonna make it twenty dollars when they did that and i saw that personally in a different light because they didn't charge the actual full retail price for the game when they did heat four to heat five as a copy and paste it was also 50 but you would think at least in my opinion and i understand you have to make money as a company your mindset should be how can i make money but at the same time it should be how can we you know give the gamer or the consumer that is what's worth their buck 60 dollars for this game i don't think it's even considered bare bones anymore this is like you built a building you build the building no windows no rooms it's just a structure at this point there's no championship mode no challenges this is this is outrageous in my opinion i mean again we're not really asking when it comes to nascar 21 ignition for a game to set the world on fire but you know the fact that a lot of people and a lot of content creators playing this game cannot finish a single race for their youtube channel without the game just completely falling apart that's an issue and i really hope people understand how serious this is and and kind of take heed to what i'm saying here because you know this is not a a business practice you should be giving money towards this really is ridiculous uh and and it'll be interesting to see what comes of this from from a legal standpoint because there's a there's a pretty big can of worms that can be opened by by shipping a game this badly and there's really three examples you know in recent memory that come to mind that have have really messed things up uh in the long term for all the companies involved the first obviously being cyberpunk 2077 which you know promised the world and gave people what was a very shallow rpg experience that crashed on people a lot there is wwe 2k 20 which i believe was pulled from select storefronts and just really tanked the reputation of 2k in regards to to wrestling games uh because i believe ux had traditionally helped grow that into a very strong franchise and when they jumped ship from the partnership uh to leaving 2k to build the game on their own it shipped in a state similar to nascar 21 and then finally with nba elite 11 uh ea sports cancelled you know a proper nba game just days before it released primarily due to the same factors we're seeing surrounding uh nascar 21 ignition where so many videos were just going viral of just an insane number of bugs that ea actually you know made a really smart wise decision to say we're not going to let this go into the public's hands because it's so bad and when that happens and if that happens where this game's either pulled from the storefront or it goes viral like it it already has i think uh jalopnik did an article uh showing off you know the the nine-hour pit odyssey that david shieldhouse had to suffer through uh the more articles like that that surfaced you increase the likelihood of this game being pulled from let's say online retailers like sony or or microsoft and uh then you run into a can of worms where you know motorsport games could theoretically be in breach of contract because you know let's say theoretically the game does get pulled from stores due to a mass amount of refunds and suddenly your contractual agreement to have a game out every single year you've not fulfilled that and you've also made uh put people in a really weird position in regards to like let's say the yearly advertising campaigns like look at how much money this company is paid to run commercials during like nascar broadcasts or uh paying to be on the the number 78 cup car uh suddenly all that's thrown into question two and you're looking at a situation where a company puts out one game and now like investors might back out uh it's just such a mess and and one of the question of having this entire time and it was brought up by another game development friend i don't really understand how this made it through the certification process now what i mean by that is when you sell a game on the playstation or microsoft uh xbox storefront you actually have to send the game to microsoft and they have to pretty thoroughly play it so basically microsoft has their own quality assurance team and so does sony and they go through the entire game uh to see if it's functional now if you've ever watched like documentaries unlike grand theft auto you'll hear about the certification process because you'll hear things mentioned in the documentary saying like oh sony made them change this because it was too violent or microsoft made them change this because it was too violent uh that's part of the whole certification process you actually do send your you know a copy of your game that's nearly completed to the console manufacturers so it can pass basically their own first party quality assurance checks i do not know how this game passed certification with the amount of bugs and crashing it has in it so now the onus is not only on more sport games but microsoft and sony as well so you've essentially had two internal qa qa teams one of which is is like the the company that owns the game consoles itself this somehow flew under the rug but you almost wonder if you know no one at sony or microsoft was like yeah i don't want to play a nascar game today nascar sucks and they just passed it so now you're selling a defective product after you know two pretty rigorous checks that should have been like we should not release this to the public which in itself is a giant can of worms so it's just the situation really just keeps getting worse by the hour i feel bad for the consumer that held so much hope up until today and i know there's still a lot of them that that are holding a lot of hope but i feel bad for them because there was people telling them to buy nascar heat 5 because it will help funding for the next game and the next game is going to be the new era the next game is going to be all glitz and glamour and uh stuff like that and there was also people what seems to now be looking like giving them false hope that's where i personally really do feel bad for them because i remember when i uploaded my nascar 21 ignition video last week there is people saying you got to wait till launch this is this could be completely obsolete until it comes out but now we're here and not it doesn't even look like a single thing has changed i mean including what i see on the console side so that's where i now have an issue that we have waited since evolution for most of us that are consumers they've waited so long and there was so much hope for this game and you once again had people saying you should buy nascar e5 that's a copy and paste and ask for e4 because it will help funding for the next one all of a sudden we're at the next one and it's like kind of want to look back to e5 and e4 and kind of appreciate what you had because at least you can play the game even though it had its own issues yeah i'm really growing tired of the amount of manipulation that has come from what seemed to be astroturfing accounts uh you know demanding people to just gloss over the issues or or wait for a patch or to stick it out for in what some cases is going to be months until you have a game that's halfway playable because that's just you would never be able to get away with this in any other industry uh you know if you went to walmart and you bought something off store shelves like a toy for your kid and it was very obviously broken and you go to let's say to return it at like the return desk uh they're not going to sit there and be like well the company that made you know your barbie jeep is trying really hard so we're not going to give you a refund you just have to wait six months and we might send you a new barbie jeep that's slightly less broken like no that's ridiculous give me my money back uh i don't know why this is okay but i think it's because a lot of people have have bought in what is an obvious lie from a lot of game devs who just say oh we just need your feedback uh and and give us give us time to crank out a few patches all that's i can assure you just again based on you know their their internal bug tracking and just you know there that there are humans who worked on this game everyone knew that this was this is something that should not have been released and now it's just damage control to try and manipulate as many people into just not saying negative things about it which is pretty disgusting but thankfully there's enough people who are like yeah this is pretty egregious i think we're gonna see more and more videos and even articles from mainstream gaming sites uh pop out about this over the coming days because like you said this has been a theme with nascar games uh ever since really nascar 08 on the 360 nascar has really fallen to the wayside regardless of who's developing it it seems like the games uh have less and less effort put into them with each passing year like didn't nascar 009 not even ship with car manufacturers manufacturers at least for the cots i know it's just like headlights and like a long tiny grill it was basically like the generic set of stickers you can buy from five star if you have like a late model body kit and don't want to run any manufacturer but no i'm i'm pretty sure an o9 they didn't even have like manufacturers for for any of the series uh and it seems like you know people look back on those days and those were the good old days when the game was you know like a solid seven out of ten and now it's gotten worse so the fact that these companies are still trying to gaslight people you know ten years later i mean like you bring up nascar 2011 it's like i was like an 18 year old kid you know fresh out of high school who like got the game you know at a midnight launch at walmart you know because me and my buddy were big nascar fans and it's like man like i'm almost 30 now and like this situation has repeated itself like close to 10 times and and somehow they're still trying to to gaslight the customers into saying that like hey yeah like you know the game's fine even though we don't even have a fuel gauge this year like what what's what's next you're gonna bring like are they gonna omit half the tracks and and and try and convince users that that's okay too you know is chase elliot gonna be missing from the game and we're just gonna be have to told to live with it and that we should deal with it like you know if the game ships without sound you know the game is completely devoid of sound effects so we're going to be told like well you know we didn't really have the budget for sound uh but you know we we decided to divert our little amount of resources into more important places like how how insane are you guys you know willing to wait this out you know how long are you willing to wait out and be be gaslit every single time a game like this is released i'm with you on in regards to the nascar heat games i thought by like three four and five they really weren't bad they were just dated but a lot of people you know over the years have have wanted like a reboot straight up of dirt to daytona with these exact same physics and car sounds and camera views you got it you know no one said back in the day that dirt to daytona was all that great it was just really unique and that had a nice career mode and properly weighty cars but you got that and now it's almost like be careful what you wish for wish for because when you when you contract a brand new dev team to make a brand new game from the ground up using an engine that has been documented as being quite janky to work with even for like hardcore pc sim racers willing to put up with it this is this what you get and a lot of people are finding out the hard way and i'm looking at twitter i'm looking at instagram it is a bonfire right now some people are even saying this might legit be the worst nascar game because you can hate ignition all you want and you can hate evolution all you want but evolution at least you could play the game granted there was a speed glitch granite the graphics were horrible the physics were horrible but you could play the game at least as of right now of me recording this game twitter is just flooded with nascar ignition legit just does not work we have now just acknowledged that listen the game's launch it's horrible i mean we all know it you can't say anything else we're not going to be about around the bush at all nascar 21 ignitions game launch is really really bad it's like you know just straight up now the next question is when will this stuff get fixed so you've been a beta tester you've been around the games a lot when can we start seeing patches that are very important being fixed so that in itself is really really hard to gauge and even me giving like guesstimated time frames i would take with a grain of salt and it's important i say that because like every development team is going to be different and like how extensive and deep these bugs go uh i really don't have any inside information i can just kind of extrapolate but like the main crashes uh that you're seeing when guys like load into bristol you know like michael moritz would load into the bristol dirt track like six times in a row and it crashed all six times those might actually be the easiest to fix because when you run the game uh in in a testing application uh you you load into what's called a quality assurance build so it's constantly spitting out a game log that's basically just a giant text file that developers can comb through and be like oh you know it spit out exactly when the game crashed and you know like what caused that crash so so finding and and rectifying like the really big crashing issues like again the the load into track crashes you know the career mode crashes stuff like that those are going to be the easiest to fix i think there will be a general stability patch put out within the next week to just rectify all of those i'm talking specifically about the crashes because again the testers play games in a special build of the game that like spits out like a bug splat or like a log file that the developers can comb through and be like oh it's like it's this you know sector of memory that's like that's up the the application and just you know causing the game to brick and crash desktop those are more or less the easiest bugs to fix uh the stuff that you actually see in regards to gameplay like the ai uh spawning weirdly after a yellow flag uh some of the stuff in regards to hey we need like a a tire wear indicator we need like a fuel gauge we need you know a track map we need the ai to start like lagging in offline races that's going to take some time because again you have to reproduce it you have to get somebody who's knowledgeable within the sport to kind of fix it and make the behavior more in line with what we expect you then have to retest it to see if it works again if it doesn't work you have to fix it again this is going to eat up months to the point where they might just say screw it and and try and get it all into the next game and the same goes for you know additional features like stage racing like private lobbies you know anytime we were working on for our games you know online features and functionality and stuff like this it's not like they just did it in a weekend you know it was something you know our online lobbies were something we tested you know pretty rigorously you know for for six months to a year before it was to the point where okay like every last bug and every last you know menu item worked and and was functional and and that sort of thing and then even after it was all 100 working and functional we could move on to other areas of the game you know we would still find little bugs here and there that would pop up because you know just just code is code works like that sometimes guys accidentally bought stuff that that was working in a previous build so i'm skeptical that you'll even get private lobbies you know they might work really really hard and they might get them in by like next spring but oh man like there's a chance that you guys might be waiting a long time and that's again that's really sad because some of you spent you know a decent chunk of change on this game only to realize that you know six or eight months down the road it's still nowhere near a state ready to be played and suddenly they're advertising nascar 22. you know i'm i'm more than happy to be proven wrong because again i'm like most people here i want a good nascar game i love the sport you know this is i got into this sport and now i you know i race in real life uh primarily because you know those those early years as a kid i spent playing nascar thunder uh this is gonna sting if it if it doesn't get fixed and it could look that way yeah i mean this is this is like really bad like i mean i think we all can just go ahead and acknowledge this and another red flag i feel like we saw was the fact that people even said i actually want to say january i'd say probably about february march when it really started coming out that studio 397 was going to work on the game it was gonna be the r factor engine people were telling me the rfactor engine isn't the best when it comes down to oval racing road racing it's obviously better but when it comes down to oval racing it's it's janky it's not you know good from what i've heard and then you have the damage control of content creators quote-unquote giving feedback and well we saw how that went yeah i mean the rfactor engine itself has never been very conducive to oval racing because it's been primarily a road racing engine it was built for sports car gt for formula one challenge 99 to o2 for ea's original formula one games that sort of thing uh so a lot of the ai just how the the ai was built to begin with is very train tracky they don't really understand multiple lines like an oval racing they don't suffer from from uh dirty air the way the player does when you get behind a car uh even drafting they have a hard time replicating like authentic drafting behavior compared to something like a nascar racing 2003 season by papyrus where you can actually see the ai suck up to people uh there's i believe an issue with with scoring during yellow flag periods where it's similar to how brett beaudine won at uh north wilkesboro all those years back uh the pace car i believe will sometimes pick up the wrong car when a yellow flag comes out which will result in a lot of cars just going a lap down uh well let me add on to that quickly we've also seen where the pace car is sometimes on the race track during green flag runs yes so so even with that like somehow uh motorsport games have managed to break that where you have a situation where the the caution car is out on the track before the game actually enters like a caution flag period which is just unbelievably messy and like it's somehow more broken than even you know the the vanilla r factor two game is and it's just issue after issue and it's it's really incredible what's worth ending it on and a question to ask you and then i'll answer it myself what do you think is the right call that should be done here in what way well should they just release the game as is and can you continue to string people along with hey yeah we're taking your feedback should they pull a last second delay and say look we're not releasing this until february or should they outright cancel the game and just work on nascar 22. so they're stuck in a pickle i mean we all know this they they make one move they break one contract they make another move they could break another contract i am actually right now in the middle of making a roblox nascar game oh let me rephrase that not making publishing it i have a really strong uh dedicated team so on that side like i literally tell them hey we're i'm willing to delay everything honestly if i was in charge and just the way i am i wouldn't even release the game how it is right now i would have said we're delaying it till february we're going up to north carolina we're talking in nassar saying listen i know the contract we signed but this game is horrible it's just downright bad and there is just no way we can release this to the public including if this this is supposed to be the new era of nascar gaming and i would literally talk to them i would say you know owe you some money because of that or you know there's something that we can do to just change it to february let's do it because this isn't good now in this situation i think you're also stuck because people already have the game they have it what can you do just take it away from them and then kind of bring it back if that's even possible through the playstation and microsoft uh store because in my opinion i think if you take it away they're now going to look at it be like whoa now we have to keep a closer eye on this if they want to bring it back so they're going to be stuck in multiple rabbit holes if i was them they missed their shot to go ahead and delay it one more time you're stuck with what you have and you better get ready because there's a lot of flack coming and just expect it and use this as motivation to make nascar 22 the best nascar game ever because right now nascar 21 edition it could very easily be arguably the worst nascar game and we know how much the graphics look great it looks amazing yay in the physics are better than evolution but you can play evolution you can play you can still play it right now without that many issues there's still glitches and stuff like that but not to this degree in my opinion they're stuck you know hit the green light to go ahead and release on this day if i was them after daytona and you got to talk to content creators that you know were honest with you and after talladega you got to talk to people that are honest with you i would have said their last chance to really delay something was the start of october and make a video to say listen the game is not ready it's just not ready we know we've had two years but we want to create a game and release it to the public that is worth your buck it's worth it to you and honestly i just don't see an area where they can just go ahead and just say hey i know we just uh gave it to some people that pre-ordered it for 90 let's go ahead and take it back from you and give it out in february because that's even more flack in my opinion they've already opened the bombay doors i mean they've already let it loose there's nothing you can do at this point yeah it's it's really tough i do wish they pulled the last second delay like nba elite 11 because that really did save uh the nba live franchise going forward even though it took a few years to recover uh i really have one or two schools of thought on this i think immediately the smart option would be to delay until february 2022 release it on the day of the la coliseum race uh whenever that's gonna be it's gonna be like mid february i think the whatever the the shootout is uh at the coliseum uh release it with the next gen cars clean up as much as you can to get the game in you know a proper state even if it's just next three months that's enough to polish i think everything that the community has pointed out and and go into complete crunch time even though you know the staffs can be really angry at that because crunch sucks uh to get the game really cleaned up for a february release but i do think it would be smart of them if they could somehow get out of the contract they have right now and say look if we release this we will tank our company's reputation to an you know irreparable state we need to just hold off until nascar 22 because i think they could have something somewhat respectable like a 6 out of 10 or a 7 out of 10 product by fall of next year that's that's not me being generous that's me being realistic i think it needs one more year in the oven because a lot of these issues are reflective of a game still having a year left in development at least based on my experience but my god do not release it now uh the impending storm from a lot of mainstream gaming mags from content creators this is going to get really ugly because you got to remember one of the things we haven't talked about throughout this whole video is that this is not a company with just the nascar license this is a company that also has indy car license they have the wallet too like yeah they have the wek license they have the btcc license and they might they might even obtain more so the quality of the nascar game is going to reflect on these other three games coming down the line if you know we could have as many as five different games you know if they go really hardcore and start getting like a world of outlaws license or something like that or a monster jam license which you never know right but this really reflects poorly on this company's entire library of products to release a game like this so busted and who knows if those other partners will jump ship and suddenly you've got a company that is in a really dire place as investors start going hey like you were covered on a mainstream gaming mag this is messy yeah and you just pointed that out i was gonna before we ended i was gonna mention the indy car game because a lot of people are excited for that there hasn't been a indycar game in a very very long time all of a sudden now the nascar game comes out and now you start worrying about the indycar game you know like this is just this is outrageous this is really unprecedented what we're experiencing here because we've never really had a video game company uh we've never had a video game company where their first product has been so bad you know at least with cd projekt red you know as bad as cyberpunk was you know they still made the witcher this cyberpunk will never take away how good the witcher was you know even as someone who hasn't played it like there's some of my buddies swear by it say it's one of the greatest games they've ever played this is a company that this is their first product this dictates the entire company's trajectory for the next 10 to 15 years and not only did they come out of the box of the block you know tripping over themselves it was quite possibly like a landmark moment in gaming that'll go on like the worst games ever wikipedia page i have one more thing to say because i know this video is gonna be going on very long and you know that's okay we had a lot of things to say and a lot of people needed to hear what we said but now it starts coming out with the next gen because there was talks of oh we're gonna get the next gen in this game how can you get the next gen in this game if there's so many issues unless it's already prioritized you know what i mean well i mean the rfactor 2 engine is very modular uh and just looking through the file structure right now it's it really is just data entry filling in the blanks on you know a handful of like you know engine files and and car chassis geometry files getting the car into the game isn't the hard part and getting it to drive somewhat realistically especially in this engine which is built for just people to add their own cars via data entry really not difficult they have 99 of the data they need and if they don't have you know certain bits of data here and there you know i'm pretty sure these guys have an agreement with nascar that they can get that technical data adding the gen 6 or sorry the gen 7 i should say is one one of the uh one of the easier things to do uh over the course of this entire cluster it's just ironing out the wide array of issues that's gonna be the hard part awesome thank you so much for talking with us my man i'm very thankful that you're able to come on this channel if you guys want to check out his youtube channel the link will be in the description below i definitely recommend you check out austin's channel and honestly to the nascar gaming community including the multiplayer community uh i honestly feel for you uh because you know i'm even part of this community myself i might be a content creator but i am a person in this community and i don't think anyone deserves a product like this clear as day so hopefully the next one's better there's also other alternatives that i will be making videos on i will be making review on nascar 21 ignition when i get my hands on it but this right here is just you know i really do feel bad including for the people that have waited so long and held out so much hope there's really nothing uh we could do at this point yeah thanks for having me but hopefully this video does well and and people take what we say you know pretty seriously and understand that this is this is uncharted territory for nassar games right now yep thank you so much for talking with us austin have a great day no problem so that will do it for today's video thank you guys so much for watching if you enjoyed this video please go ahead and drop a like
