He's super knowledgeable on the people he interviews, but his shtick is cringy and damn near unwatchable at times.

are you filled I'm feeling great mr. Brown well I know that mr. Brown is real great but I think he might have better call me James Brown he's kids you know you want to get me but my name yes if he told me to address you mr. brown well that's I in business transaction but this is our modest fresh so just call me James don't worry about it sitting by the organ yes that's right now I was gonna call a bit of sweets up and we were gonna hear something that um would you cut one minute bittersweet gently I said yeah Amy Martha Heller and Janice and my name is Willa try me try me try me gotta tell me try me try me try yo but always eat you I need you Oh me me I want you right here by my side oh me oh me I need you what is gone away hello Devon she's brown yeah you know what would you like to introduce who you had singing with you you would again mother it's Kelly this is Candace is Amy and this is Cynthia this is a bittersweet and down you'll be doing a fantastic job tonight they traveled all over the world with me I'm trying with that religious book focus five against one that's it but we traveled all over the world together then we can have a dynamite show tonight wanted you to remove your catch and you're back in Vancouver did you remember at all when you've been to thank you ver before cuz you've played here a few times over the years I bet indeed I remember the cave but I there's another place I bleed yeah as that was that you elegant parlor I don't know that there's a Spanish room for these guys Bobby Taylor into vancouver's remember them I don't remember them Bobby Taylor and Tommy Chong they're in the span Tommy Chad Bobby Taylor was the guy supposedly discovered Michael Jackson really yeah - knew how discovered you discovered Michael Jackson I don't believe that but I mean you're Jesse I own my own way of speaking Michael Jackson was discovered by a man named Kevin Spann and myself we had television shows out of Gary Indiana but uh you know I don't want to shoot this kid down because he could have been he could have met him later yeah - mm-hmm I thought the TV show you were beating Carson no I'm not gonna brag about it but we did we had a show called future shock in Atlanta but Ted Turner when he first started was the superstation TBS and we be costing 27 to 10 and they wanted me to do national television but I don't want to television because I want to be out soon which is pretty young leaders and they're like yeah I'm on television every day are you writing any new stuff is there a new album coming out we got a new one out now called I'm back and it's not we're doing a couple of cuts from it one's entitled funk on a roll which is up jumper heavy like sex machine with a dynamite it's a new Grave with a new groove and it's really you have to hit and it blows you away because it's a whole new bag we got a new Mouse on the planet it's really dynamite and then I do about our ever beating my heart on organ we don't get it just to do a lot of it but there's one to nothing personal that I'd like to well two extra one this very close to me is it's called our peace in the world and that's probably one of the main problems around the world today so much violence and killing and we're trying to address that and hopefully would seek to to young people let them know that life is about more than killing it's about living and then wall said we got a song yet everybody knows has probably got a brand-new bag is like then soul national anthem because it started the music from two and four to one and three minute with me it probably back I'm still Mozart she would Beethoven and Strauss kind of turned a little bit and so yeah what do you got that but uh it's a it's a song that everybody knows it's a lot of fun and myself and a bit of Swiss we do a fantastic job with along with the soldier of the band and it says something arrangements so we got this range mat this time on Sam it's really dynamite and who knows we're talking about bringing out because so many people are requesting this particular song the shows sold out tonight mr. Brown what James Brown well but I thank God it is and I will do our best thing what let the people know that they didn't just come in vain and the next time I'll come back over this place will be too small for me yeah I you got to bring in five days I got a British state you I hope my mom hear that oh you want to play the stadium via the audio is lousy I don't get that audio on what we we video anywhere and we're visible anyway so they see us is good enough they can imagine what we're saying we wanted to see us do it because not a there's not enough people can see it in yeah I'm sure that and we thank God for this cuz there's one to find its venues around but we got to bring up about five or six days mr. Martin together I'm John over here gonna fix it for you the jeebies have a new al mode I noticed in Mojo magazine have you ever thought of getting back together with them at all well there's no JB's there's a lot of people at Cydia it's a reunion LP well yeah I'm on will do good with all the fellows that went by many many years ago and we like try to play some gigs but have some time for fun you know but the soldiers we have nice there's a new young Dinah Dinah Dinah McMahon that's um it's unbeatable but also Maysoon fred is gelling beautiful too and yeah JB's aren't anything without JP you were JP you are the JP wants it another thing because they're very good players and hope they make it because playing room for everybody I'd like to see the families friends with them and I like it I don't you come back you know it's not that we don't want to see them make it because we there's a lot of room for so music and we can only feel so many places that we play and play another place somebody else need to be coming later you're standing by an organ right now we're you made a couple instrumental albums like grits and soul whatwhat's the deal behind that well it was something I was kind of expand that people know musically we had something to say as well as a Saudi Oh was it due to contractual obligations like they weren't letting you sing well one time that I did that because I was with King Ruxin and smash which is when later became product round we have to do both um because both people want us so we gave one instrumental in one single but then I came back later I mean singing and then we came back later with them little couple of more albums and it got jazz out I got John King ready said well we have a jazz always thank me coming up in a sooner if my guess is right with mr. Stewart I think he's gone now he runs the women you got obligation you also play drums don't you did you play the drums on night train I heard like the drummer went to the washroom and James Brown mr. Brown filled in your bunny dead yeah but that's true that's true she had to go to bathroom we had to cut the wrong song yes I started going deeper he had number one in mine we had the whole thing in my right we do it was wicked and I play the drums on a song called hold it as well that was old bill dog song um but I chair the night you'll be seeing a lot of things because we've been doing a lot of songs that I had a chance to cut one I miss honky-tonk we recorded after bill Doggett we wanted to be sentimental around and we also will be doing it tonight and we were thought as well what's accepted minutes which will be done there edition of a song called this is my story mr. Brown what exactly was the story behind that al you were saying is a big story behind this little 45 cover because this is it what you're not on the cap it's not your name there's no coming up the ladies know when our pleasure made this song please please please and it became such a dynamite hit they didn't put black man only covers too much and that's that that hit everybody get still got what was happening black man was not only covered and this I will not only cover this album and I was not on the cover of all try me the girl was on that I was not on the cover pink got a baby on there but then they'd only find out what they were missing this beautiful face I got to it so I didn't want to put it on the bags but things got better and people got to understand so they went and recovered all of them and you're able to buy like radio stations do still own radio stations and gas stations and all that stuff mr. brown not yes there's no I wish I did on a gas just read the radio station go because gasps Sylvester says internet came by radio station suffers tremendously I'm sure you know that but um we have two stations and an interesting the third one Atlanta and hopefully we would get a chance together what happened with my station I try to rephrase what was going on in early years and everybody has covered my format now do you also have restaurants select was the golden skillet well no what is your clothes go to platter I do know how you I put on the word skillet what you don't that bro hmm I don't know this ham thank you for British Columbia Canada mr. Brown that's gonna that's a long ways okay but anyway we ought to go Bratton and they didn't put a well but I couldn't stay there I eat all the time I want to get on the road so we give that away gave it up and see what made a lot of money on it now mr. Brown I know when I got um the gentlemen to get you to sign this you're very excited about this lit up for the Middle's the Tammy show right and see what I had to pry through what was this explain to people that may not be aware of this mr. brown Tammy show I will show there with electronic vision most people didn't understand that I don't us then the schematics I explained it but let your honor vision was a way to shoot movies in the TV cameras instead of the cameras cameras take too long and TV cameras you can shoot it if you get it rolling you can keep on shooting it so we won electronic vision um oh I forgot your fellow name but they also did Harlow before that you know Jean Harlow was that was it well then that picture Jean Harlow Jalan but yeah okay anyway Jean I don't made a move in then you really quiz your people mr. Jones mr. Jones mr. mr. Jane sorry all right that's all right y'all just being yourself mr. James Brown no out on a farm because then you know it's a it's nice to see younger people and you try to make him remember things like that when you think of James Brown on the show with the Beach Boys Chuck Berry Beach Boys Chuck Berry barbarians Marvin Gaye poor parents remember them to trauma only had one arm I'm in velvet of a fantastic people I know you remember though they're on TV quite a bit they do play it actually they rerun this on MuchMusic quite a bit the Tammy show I was curious the reaction you got from the Tammy show which is absolutely outstanding you completely blew the Rolling Stones away mr. Brown and and and it's like what was the reaction you got there typical to reaction you would get around the world or playing well that was the first time that ever seen somebody move that way and the crock talks about it all the time my very good friend and I went on American Bandstand had to be careful because my moves when it was classified a little deeper than revenues you know and thank God for Elvis Presley came along with the tight pants he gave me a chance to put my back on I'd actually like to give this to you mr. Brown thank you I said your name wrong totally I mean it's at least like I want to Xeroxes and give it a bittersweet as well because it's either people we had to come through see they were just beginners you know no and it was really heavy but it won't have a vertical autumn because I didn't want about again right now we were we introduced rhythm bluesy to the world with this show and they'd never seen anything like that and it's just blew him away it was standing in amazement and I we did our show I went in the back and sit down and start talking with a fella laughing joking I had to come back and close the show they made me come back again and close it now I bet they I'm not a funny fellow you were totally sweating away they're totally sweating away what do you think of sweat mr. Brown I think sweat is something that is very it's a very emotional thing God where you put a head I eat my head never black because in one of your books and read Sartre expressed well Spencer sweat expresses emotions either way whether it's hard work I'm saying how I wish I can get out of here I'm tired is there a story about you driving around in a black a black Cadillac with beautiful suits with the windows up you know to look cool and you're totally sweating away there in the south I remember that man but idea if I was Judy I'll do deep in his I'll go together like I was working better and those days shader right now now Jeff young that - those are I was part of after dr. King at you medicine is I would have let the people know that that job life is for all people just like the blood bank when you go to the blood bank you don't want the type of blood and those earlier times humble times but we can talk about it now and we can laugh about it because we got other place to go I'm just ready young lady didn't have to face that craziness yeah they seemed ski party the movies ski party have you seen ski party yes I have not it's an amazing movie but ski party was my first debuted and really trying to hack and I can remember the lines on icy we walked in and they walked up and asked me a few questions and I brought in Robert Beach you Robert you loose with this um he'll all wrapped up in snow he's been frozen I said we're finding my Dale you better put him by the fire the abominable snowman I think abominable was the hardest wood I've had to get across I don't want to talk on academic gotta say and talking about hard and singing it I see you after the show let's ask you two quick questions here mr. Brown winding up here I was wondering do you remember it all this gentleman here Andre Williams to remember Andre Williams at all hit us call the bacon fat yes yes I do I remember that I melted - I'm a dancer it's almost like this and me doing this one he's altered the song jailbait - I don't know about yeah thank you could have ankle - $5 as well those Andre Williams are you bringing them back he is back and guess what they've brought him back as mr. brown check it out this is Andre Williams back in the 1990s got a lot of Sensen we're gonna yeah thanks for much mr. Brown keep on rockin in the free world and Duke do the loot do well thank you very much I'm not gonna say what babalu bye my little bamboo music you got anybody that movie they got a new rock and roll bigjon you got doing other songs your mama bum boom pretty close doot Doo - Lou - alright gotta be that good tonight you
