"That's another kind of a tricky joe-bob there". This is awesome! Thanks!
You know that's very considerate
So I've always liked Heart because I grew up hearing them as my parents were fans, but never knew much about the band. A while ago I stumbled across this video while going down some YouTube rabbit hole and was like "yo, who is this dude slaying it on guitar, and why is Nancy playing an acoustic?"
Then I went further into the rabbit hole and realized my entire familiarity with Heart was their early work and I knew like none of their much less hard rock 80s songs. Again, I don't know much about their backstory aside from what I've read on wikipedia, but I can't help but notice that they started to rock considerably less after Roger Fischer left the band in 1980.
Maybe it was just a changing of the times and they were quick to jump into a decidedly more 80s sound, and while I don't mean to diminish their continued success as a band well after he left, it really seems like their sound completely changed after he left. Kind of makes me question my perception that Heart was just two sisters who rocked super hard since it seems like their rocking got considerably less hard without him.
Why isn't this a thing now?
I miss my Takamine
One of the first women of hard rock to sing and *kick ass* on the guitar!
Heart was so awesome for a good solid decade... until they turned into a milquetoast adult contemporary act in the mid-to-late 80s.
It's was nice to discover that they haven't completely forgotten how to rock, though, like this song they recorded with James Hetfield four years ago (which is allegedly yet another song about Courtney Love. Damn, that woman has pissed off a lot of musicians).
I thought that was Christina Applegate.
Nice! Great reminder to learn this song.
