Nafi Thiam's SENSATIONAL performance | Road to Gold

[Applause] well it's team who gets the better start this time burson's on the shoulder but it's tianne the first to rise to tian really wonder going very very well here there are some very disappointing slip back but that was a clear win there for naffy tiam well that looks like a big personal best for tm she showed in rio that she was capable of producing personal best after personal best did five on that occasion and she started here with another one yes just waiting for confirmation i can tell you we're looking at the stadium clock and it's giving us the unofficial time of 8 26 and if that's correct that slice is more than a tenth of her personal best so really rising to the occasion and it was a cracking start there and she was never headed you thought that brussen would have challenged but person in fact didn't have the best of races and it's confirmed they're a 23. that takes 1400th of a second off a personal best well big smile there from the belgian 193 now for nappy tm whoa great jump there not even close to the bar very very nice jump indeed there from the rio olympic champion she's gone over 194 indoors 198 outdoors and i promise you she did actually say that she wasn't confident at all about her high jumping but it looks as though she has no problems whatsoever for tm [Applause] second attempt well indoor personal best there another terrific jump it's very very simple to commentate when somebody like tiana is jumping you do have to wonder how far away a two meter jump is from tien personal best outdoors at one meter 98 maybe this summer well as we say tm dominated the competition with 196 two other women over one meter 87. so she started with 14 11 and she'd be looking if she's going to challenge the sort of scores which we're hoping for to do a little better than that well i think it's every reason to think that she might be wanting to get close to that 15 meter line she's done that this year there it is yeah she really is a super competitor isn't she always seems very calm and collected when she goes about a business of the various events doesn't show too much emotion generally she surely would be pretty happy with this one [Music] 15 29 well the best is uh only six centimeters ahead of that foreign [Music] how [Music] in the long jump this was i think just a recap of the leading jumps in the competition phil yes we've seen this one already that's tms best jump of 6 37 there's a round up personal best for the leading pair of dadich zyvoski parkas well still quite convincingly in the lead and there we see it four thousand one hundred and six points for nafi tiam [Music] representing tm is clearly settling just to take the gold medal because there's no way she's going to run a 214 also 800 meters the way she's right at the back of the field at the moment that's perfectly sensible she's going to make sure of the gold medal she may well come in last in this race and it'll be last but gold so it's 65-2 and that's pretty quick for an 800-meter race with schievoski farkas leading from daddy's these medal contenders [Music] [Applause] [Music] seymour just behind the top two she's a good 800 meter runner indeed she's got the best personal best to 11 28 on indoor all-time form way behind and the battle on there with uh now having taken over from zivatsuki forecast and looking set perhaps to get the silver medal one forty point five one yivotsky farquhars i think he's having to yield as the gap opens to daddich who's had a really splendid uh competition throughout the whole day particularly with the high jump those magnificent three successive personal best and she's going to come home to win this event and to take the silver medal just behind her krisan has overtaken her compatriot schievoski farquhars but it's going to be the silver medal here for the winner here daddy then the hungarians finish with zyvotsky parquez shaw of the bronze medal and here comes the gold medalist way behind the rest of the field that is nafi tiam who has run about 226 or so won't worry about that at all she is the gold medalist and has smashed her personal best smashing their personal best as well danich i think she's added about 200 points to her austrian record and we're waiting to see what georgie szabotsky parkass has done i think she may well have even beaten the hungarian national record so let's just wait for confirmation to those results what a terrific competition but here we see naffi tm two personal best in the opening two events and consistently high performances across the long jump and the shot put now we saw team daddich and they'll be very happy indeed 2 14 13 here that's uh just outside her lifetime best as an indoor 800 meter runner gives her another 905 points stretching uh another 24 over zebotsky farquhars well we know who the medalists are i expect they do as well they know what they've got to do study the points tables very carefully and congratulations there to uh between the medalists there who just assembled couldn't do quite enough there's the result that itch 214-13 chris end coming through pastor boski park has to take second place 224 44 for tm seventh and last but clear gold medalist and in fact we can now confirm that her total is seven 0 points well that's quite a long way short of the record she didn't really go for it in the last race because she knew she couldn't really quite match that but it is a tremendous performance adding to her rio triumph of course at the hemp chaplain you
