we're going for comfort today guys [Music] hello and welcome back to my channel i hope you guys are doing well wherever you are in the world i have a little co-host with me today for maybe like the next couple of seconds before she scampers out of my arms but bella would like to welcome you to my channel where we chat about uh knitting primarily and other crafty rabbit holes and now she's done but yeah so this is a channel where i chat about what i'm knitting on or whatever crafty rabbit hole i happen to be diving down and lately lately it seems i've been bitten quite hard by by the quilting bug so if that's your jam gather around grab a cup of something and let's get into things uh let's chat elephants in the room shall we this week i only have one elephant to share with you because this this is just a black sweater from h m that i chucked on um it's it's a bit of a dreary chilly day here in in porchester so i grabbed a sweater to match the day and here we are but margot on the other hand in the background my lovely assistant is wearing the thright mirror pullover a pattern by izol latigue i knit this maybe like four years ago i want to say it feels like a while ago since i knit this but it is knit out of a combination of jameson spin drift and jameson jumper weight they're two separate yarn companies but both have very similar qualities to them in that you can knit interchangeably with them but yeah they make really beautiful uh jumper weight or you know fingering weight yarns that you know you can knit all this glorious color work with so uh yeah i thoroughly enjoyed knitting that i wore it to eyf three years ago i believe and yeah it's it's my perfect shade of green like if i have to pick a green that is it my eyes are green so every time i wear it just i feel like it makes my eyes pop so love this sweater well i'm no stranger to color work this definitely taught me a few new um skills when it comes to carrying my floats um and yeah it was just a very enjoyable knit and yeah easily one of my i say this about all my projects but yeah it was it's easily one of my favorite makes um because it does it does tend to get a lot of wear during you know colder winter months but the main color is this beautiful lush green and then it has like an icy blue and cream contrasting colors that i don't like typically i don't gravitate towards blue or teals but just seeing this colory combination you know made my heart sing i i you know say no more um so yeah that is the three muir pullover by izoldateeg so definitely check it out and yes all right so moving along to works in progress living within my beautiful beautiful katydid bags that i showed off last week it's actually got a little floof on it because what i'm knitting has mo hair and it's getting it all over the place so it's typically not this floofy on the outside but this bag love it to death the discount that i mentioned in the last episode uh katie of katydid bags is offering 10 off on all of her bags in her etsy shop and the code is valid all the way through uh april 1st of 2022 so you still have time hop on over to her shop she has a lot of beautiful beautiful project bags and seriously incredibly well made so uh yeah and katie seriously thank you so much again um but yes living inside my kittied bags is my are you ready for it ranunculus yes oh my goodness my friends um this pattern is just knitting itself it's just flying off the needles um probably because i'm using usi's 10 needles to knit this i can't yeah it i'm done with the yoke i've separated the sleeves when i last showed this to you on the last episode i think i was maybe like right here one of the yarns that i'm using is by illimani their sobre base in this beautiful charcoal color uh they don't give their colorways names for some reason and but it is uh color number 29 but again it's just like this very cool slate gray that i absolutely love um and for a really good price point too uh one skein is about 15 and yeah it's 85 organic cotton 15 baby alpaca um absolutely stunning and i'm holding it together with ito sensei um i'm sure this yarn needs no introduction because you've probably seen it floating around your lys or some lyses and but yeah it's let me see 60 mo hair 40 silk um and the colorway which i forgot to mention last week is their goat colorway which i think is a really funny name for this beautiful shade i mean it's it's very opalescent and again it like the the the cord is this peachy beige color with a sage blue halo around it or sagey green not blue um yeah and it just has a very iridescent opal effect and held together with this yarn i mean it's absolutely stunning i mean i hope i hope this lighting is doing it justice but um yeah i'm probably going to get mo hair all over my black sweater now really big mistake wearing this kristen oh goodness yeah you can see all the lint all the hair i didn't try today guys i really didn't it's just one of those days where i woke up it was gloomy out and i was like i just want to be comfortable i want to be comfortable i mean i am comfortable i'm wearing leggings i'm wearing a dress and then i just chuck this black sweater over whatever i'm wearing so we're going for comfort today guys yeah so that is my ranunculus uh and i was inspired to cast this on it's a very impromptu cast on because i had gotten together with uh jonna and kim i missed i just realized jonah i was mispronouncing your name i was calling her jonah her name is actually jonna i'm so sorry again i am awful with names but i met up with janna and kim and katie at uh pick up every stitch in mount kisco my new lois and realized that everyone was knitting a ranunculus if they weren't knitting one they were wearing one if they were wearing one or a knitting one they were talking about a ranunculus they one or two ranunculuses that they knit in the past and i was like why have i not ranunculus yet so uh you know twist my arm i felt compelled to cast one on finally because yeah it has been floating around on my rivalry cue for quite some time so here we are finally cast on my own ranunculus and could not be more thrilled i'm so thrilled guys seriously i cannot wait to have this off my needles and enjoy it even though it's spring and the weather is probably going to warm up in like an another couple of weeks um by golly i will have a ranunculus so there we go that said let's move along to talking about english paper piecing oh my gosh guys if you follow me on the instagrams you might have noticed that i finally finished this thing um i'm still not exactly sure what it is but it is a coaster or mug rug of some kind and i made this using scraps from the kensington kaleidoscope quilt that i finished which which i still need to send out to a long armor to be quilted i'm not sure when that's gonna happen but um again we still have so much happening with the house right now that you know right now it's just not in the cards so holding off on sending that out um but that has not stopped me from experimenting with more quilts and quilting and english paper piecing the show must go on am i correct so um but yes these are scrap leftover scraps from that project and this was basically me taking my gomi die cutter through its paces if you recall i purchased a couple of uh die cuts to make my english paper piecing process a whole lot easier because you just lay the fabric and the card stock on top of the die cut roll it through the machine and everything's just cut out for you and you can just wrap the the fabric around the paper and just get get onto the sewing and here you know again this is just kind of like a little scrappy project and just taking those tools through their paces and i am so in love with the whole process i'm in love with the tools i'm in love with the process um but yeah i have some hexis here just a strip of hexis and then right next to all the hexis i have a strip of diamonds and it just from far away it just looks like this really kind of beautiful watercolory um tapestry of sorts i don't know i just love the color play that's happening in here and i added a binding because conveniently i had a couple of strips of the strawberry thief fabric left over and hand stitched it to to the back here so yeah and i actually created a vlog for members of my youtube channel uh sharing how i finished this project so uh if you're interested in that um and you would also like to help support my youtube channel you can do that by clicking the join button below and becoming a member and as i mentioned every week for a fancy schmancy cup of coffee you can support this channel and get some extra fun bonus content from yours truly um but yes if you become a member you can see the vlog where i i finished this um it was kind of like a learning curve for me too because i have only done quilt binding like once or twice yeah about like one two or three times in the past so you know it's just kind of me putting my my quilting finishing skills to the test so you get to see how i trued up these edges and applied the border and you know yeah and and there are there are several bella cameos as well so uh anyway if you do decide to become a member thank you so very much in advance i actually added some extra tiers uh you know to give you guys more options but anyway that said this was such a great quick fun little project and now we have this really beautiful william morris print coaster mug rug what have you to decorate decorate my home anyway yeah the only thing i will say is that i wish i had quilted it i did not quilt it because in hindsight i didn't want to disturb the the prints i essentially designed the the hexagons and the diamonds around this little guy right here the strawberry thief the big one and then built out around there like alternating different lights and darks and but look how pretty that is i mean this right here this flower kind of looks like a crown on top of the strawberry thief and then you have these um poppies right here anyway yeah i just felt like top quilting this quilt would would have just destroyed that so but at the same time i feel like it could use a little more texture anyway um anyway i still love it all the same and yeah uh english paper piecing is is where it's at for me right now so um but yeah speaking of epp i did start another epp project um and this might look a little wonky right now because it's a work in progress but as i mentioned pretty much every week i am completely obsessed and in love with the last homely house another youtube channel that's hosted by a wonderful woman named kate um and she has a english paper piecing pattern on her website to make a pincushion out of hexagons and last night after i was done with work i just said you know what i feel like doing some english paper piecing and you know purchased downloaded the pattern cut out all my pieces and wednesdays dennis has band practice so typically it's just me the cat and a glass of wine and we watch movies together and you know i i either knit or so and yeah that's exactly what i did last night um i started this and i got pretty far um you know for something that's hand-stitched this came together very very fast i mean all that's left to do is just sew these angles together and to create a little basket and then i have this hexy right here that's going to be stitched on top and then i fill it with stuffing so again this is a paid pattern and i'll link to her at her shop down below where you can find it but overall just a really fun simple quick project to whip up that you can you know if you have some a couple of favorite fabrics in your staffs that you want to use up i mean what what a great project so again i will link to it down below where you can find it and yes i am indeed planning to come up with a english paper piecing tutorial for you thank you so much to everybody who left me feedback last week letting me know that you would love to see a tutorial on how to do epp i'm planning i was hoping to do it this week but it just wasn't in the cards but next week i think that's the game plan i'm making a tutorial on english paper piecing for you so watch this space stay tuned and and yeah so anyway i'm gonna keep this relatively short because i don't know if you can hear in the background but we have uh some guys over here re-tiling our bathroom floor so we're gonna hear a little noise uh so i apologize in advance bear with me but uh that said before i wrap things up i do have some stash acquisitions uh i was a little naughty this week because turns out there is a yarn and fabric store a 15 minute walk away from my home i mean seriously and not only that they specialize in servicing janome machines i mean what are what a coincidence so it's so crazy and that shop is called the nimble thimble anyway i wasn't planning on going in but i had to run an errand and it was on the way back and i was like you know what let me let me go pop in and say hello see what they have see what it's all about and oh my goodness you guys what an adorable little shop um i you know i because because i'm into this epp thing and i was like okay let's see what they have in the way of you know charm packs or pre-cuts just you know to build up my stash and while they didn't have too many pre-cuts they did have some fat uh what is it not fat eighths but they had fat sixteenths which are smaller than no i'm sorry they had fat eighths or fat sixteenths which are smaller than fat quarter bundles um but they were at a price that i could not refuse and in a color in colors that i could not resist um and yeah i treated myself to a little a little stash right here i mean it has my name all over it am i right so we've got some moves lots of move fabrics in here we've got some greens and then because i was so shocked because again they they didn't have a lot in the way of pre-cuts but what they did have were these do these look familiar these are some of the same fabrics that i'm using in my devil wedding ring quilt and yeah i was so surprised that they had them and i love these fabrics so much that i just stocked up on them um all right i cleaned them out of what they did have just because you know you never know so picked up a couple of these and let me open these up so you can see what they are um yeah i believe these are fat eights and i'm blanking on the measurements but again smaller than fat quarters i don't know this might be a fat quarter this could very well be a fat quarter i have to measure it but yeah and here's like a little close up these are just moths and poppies and so pretty so pretty but yeah just a really sweet yarn and fabric store they actually have very nice yarns in the back they have a lot of rowan they have ella ray they had a real and juniper moon i noticed just a really nice selection of yarns uh so i was very tempted to come away with a little stash from there but a little haul from there but i i was good i did not have any projects in mind so i i know that they're close by i can always go back um but the people working there super friendly super helpful and i cannot wait to go back there so anyway that was that was my little fabric haul um but yes just to circle back to my double wedding ring quilt i did not have time to work on that this week but i am hoping to put a little dent in that over the weekend uh i cannot i seriously cannot believe it's thursday this week has just completely flown by um but here we are so yes i believe this is going to be a rather short episode so uh i'm just going to end things there guys thank you so very much again for hanging out with me this week i apologize again for the noise in the background next week will be much quieter i promise if you're new here and haven't already feel free to like and subscribe down below i'm putting out videos for your viewing pleasure every week and again if you'd like to support this channel consider becoming a member uh where you can get bonus content for me on a weekly basis and and yeah have a wonderful weekend and i will see you next time bye [Music] you
