before we get started fair warning I just came back from the dentist so I'm all swollen numbed up right here just like tight like Oh mmm Baker I iguanas I'm pretty sure that the one female is about to lay her eggs I was gonna open it up I'm almost 100% positive that she's dropping her eggs right now okay there's our first white right there so look at that that's one of the eggs so now we're just gonna slowly kind of just pull the dirt away and then it will start revealing all the other eggs that are around it what's up everyone and welcome back to another episode so before we get started fair warning I just came back from the dentist so I'm all swollen numbed up right here so they actually had to hit me three times on this side with the novocaine whatever numbing stuff they do and I can barely even open my mouth I'm so numb and just like tight like Oh mm-hmm yeah so I might talk with a little bit of a lisp lisp lifts and yeah I might be talking a little funny today but anyways my Baker I iguanas I'm pretty sure that the one female is about to lay her eggs she's made like a little den and she's inside the den with her back and was a button whatever you want to call it facing the inside of the den so I think she's about to drop the eggs in there and then cover it I'm super excited for this this will be the second year in a row that I have produced these guys they're are critically endangered species so any of these guys added to the world is a great thing we're gonna check her out right now we're gonna open it up so there she is you see she's made like an entire little den area a little cave so I'm almost 100% positive that she's dropping her eggs right now they got some worms right here we're gonna give him a little bit of a treat right now see if he wants them oh we want them a my worries gonna bite my hand I bet someone will comment that not really they're pretty good at just eating what they want they won't bite look they don't want to bite when they do bite it's more so out of Defense not because they're being aggressive at least with these guys ow oh I just jinxed myself he got me just a little bit didn't hurt too bad though do you want some beautiful lady look she just took the little stinkers right there oh yeah take some of that mmm that's good hey guys so we're gonna go do an update right now on the iguana that was laying eggs it's been like four or five hours I just got back from lunch so a lot of times the nesting process can take that long it can take days so we're gonna go check up on her I'm hoping she has laid these eggs I know you guys have seen me open this bin at least three or four times in the video I'm hoping this is the last time so we're gonna open it up see if she laid those eggs let's see she laid the eggs yes so if you look at her before she was all fat and swollen now she's all skinny you can see that wrinkled skin that's because she just laid those eggs so her skins are all stretched out right now you can see right above her hips she is all sunken in she's laying on top of her eggs you a good mama are you good this is incredible guys can't wait to show you guys when I take the eggs out so the next step is I'm just gonna leave it there for now I'm probably gonna give mom a nice soaking in water it's very energy draining to lay eggs and then I'm gonna put them in the incubator and show you guys all that so I got the trashcan all rinsed out nice and clean full of water we're just going to take it over now and put them on in and mom bolted for it you know just your average day here chasing iguanas around the cage trying to Soaker cuz she just laid eggs alright I know I know I know she don't want to be picked up right now there you go mom I know it's water but you need it see just how skinny she is just how flat she is guys been holding eggs for the past couple months okay guys we got the mom soaking right over here we got the eggs in the bin we're gonna take it out we're gonna put them in the bin and then get them in the incubator at first we're gonna add some soil so the eggs are not just rolling around in it and we're gonna start slowly digging around in here see where these eggs are so basically she was actually nestled up here so I'm gonna check here she'll make like a little cavity like a little cave and then she'll lay the eggs in it and then just close it up these eggs are like way down in there oh I already moved one I didn't even notice it check it out this is the first egg right in here wow I didn't even notice it crap that was not very good we're just gonna place the egg right there so we're just gonna keep going at it nice and slowly I'm sure the eggs are here somewhere okay there's our first white right there so look at that that's one of the eggs so now we're just gonna slowly kind of just pull the dirt away and then it will start revealing all the other eggs that are around it see this another one there's another one so last year she laid around 14 so I'm thinking she's gonna lay around 16 17 because she has gotten bigger in that time here we have one more beautiful egg now we're gonna put right in here so we're at two eggs right now okay you got one more oh there's another one just revealed a couple more egg number six Wow these eggs are beautiful and they're all fertile eggs right now to take about 90 days for them to hatch so we're thinking like late August early September is when they're gonna be hatching I'm just super excited that she laid before my trip just because I didn't want to have to leave any of my family in charge of it you know most people when they leave on their trips they're worried about is their dog okay is their cat okay I'm worried about my iguanas and the eggs if that laying we are at 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12:13 eggs I'm hoping we have more yep we got number 14 right here so she laid 14 eggs last year she may have more it may be the same amount I'm not too sure but I'm hoping it's more than 14 because these guys are critically endangered or so we want to have as many babies as possible and there's another one yes hey here number 15 this is the most eggs that she's ever laid like I said I thought she was gonna lay 16 17 but if she lays 15 that'll be you know it's pretty close you still want to dig around and see if there's any more yep there's another one yes this is awesome another beautiful egg right here we're at what 16 eggs 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 eggs so let's see if she laid some more I think that's it I am just so stoked we had 16 beautiful iguana eggs laid all of them are fertile so right now they actually got to get the incubation tub set up so what we used for the incubation media or substrate whatever you want to call it is they use para light so it holds the moisture really well so you want to fill it up roughly halfway so we got this filled up halfway we're ready to go so the next step is to add water to the parallettes we can keep these eggs nice and hydrated so a lot of people like to measure out the water to pair light ratio I don't do that but I do and it's worked for me for a while you just kind of take the pair light just like that make it see how the water like that and like that I'm gonna cover it shake it we're gonna do the same thing to this side right here you want to have it on a nice angle so the water is gonna flow down it's evenly displaced around the bottom that's all we have to do and then the last step is we do have to get some moss ready for the eggs for iguana eggs you know they require a little bit more humidity some people don't cover them up with moss I do that and it's always worked for me well we're in the incubation room right now you can see we have the eggs the pear light the moss the incubator everything we need to get these eggs to be nice and healthy so first thing we're going to do is we're just going to start placing the eggs in the pear light so you want to play something row by row and you kind of want to just bury them about halfway in the pear light just like this just so they can retain that moisture there you go little egg then we got the next one right here [Music] so we're just about done getting these eggs we have three more left that last one so we're finally at the end of the process we're almost about to put these eggs in the incubator we have all this ring down moss so it's gonna have nice moisture on the egg so it then squeeze it some more make sure we got nothing and then you just kind of like drizzle the moss on it just like this make a nice layer on the eggs kind of thick so I got the eggs absolutely perfect now I've got the moss covering them last step we're just gonna put this lid on right here and an incubator they go they're gonna start cooking in about 90 days we're gonna have some baby lizards [Music] here they go that is going to conclude another episode I hope all of you guys did enjoy watching me collect these eggs and put them in the incubator this time of the year is most exciting for me because all the lizards are gonna be laying eggs and it's just so much fun and then come Sept Argus September and about 90 days is even
