hey guys welcome back to my channel today I want to share with you a new ultrasonic cleaner that I just purchased from laser sales I actually bought it a few months ago but I haven't taken it out of the box yet I thought I'd wait till I make the video so what I'll do today is an unboxing I will show you the features on the machine and I will test out a few parts to be cleaned out in the ultrasonic cleaner as well and I'm also going to share a few solutions that I use in the ultrasonic cleaner machine as well and here's the part number for the machine it's ninety seven eight ninety from laser sales it's the six liter ultrasonic cleaner and there is a link under the video to where you can purchase this directly from laser and you do get a manual with it and you get the plug with it here in Canada we use this plug here so the first thing you can do is plug in the plug here now if you look at the machine here it's quite big it's much bigger than my smaller one over here this one here was 2.5 liters this one 6 so you can see it's a huge improvement for size and have a look inside here it comes with a basket and one tip guys is don't put parts inside here without the basket you do need to have the basket to give it some space between the bottom of the ultrasonic cleaner and the parts and on this ultrasonic cleaner you do have a heat setting as well as the timer I highly recommend guys that if you do buy an ultrasonic cleaner for your small engine repair shop that you do get it with the heat function the parts clean much better if the water is warm inside the machine and also if you do small engine repair professionally I do recommend that you get one that's made a metal like this one it's going to put up with a lot more abuse than the cheaper plastic ones now this ultrasonic cleaner comes with a water valve over here so that you can drain it you just simply turn the valve the water will leak out and then you can shut it down like this it does have a hole on each side for your hand for lifting the machine and if you look underneath it does have a cooling fan so overall the unit looks quite well built it's all metal and here's the model number and capacity it's 180 watts and here's another warning here on the side again emphasizing the importance of not plugging it in without water now the guys that laser sales recommended that I use distilled water in the machine so that's what I'm going to do now just dump four litres of water inside the machine which is just over one gallon and now it's safe to plug it in and again make sure the switch is on in the back now I hear it's giving you the actual temperature and what the minute is set at however it's not on you have to turn it on here to activate it so what I'll do for now is let the water heat up I've got it set at 35 degrees Celsius now there is quite a bit of water in the machine so it will take a bit of time to heat up and it'll heat up a lot faster if you put the lid on now laser carries two models of ultrasonic cleaners they have a three litre with 120 watt ultrasonic rating and 200 watt heat rating and the six litre which is the one I have here is with a 180 watt ultrasonic rating and 400 watt heat rating now laser told me that these units have a higher heat rating than most other units available and this will give it a better cleaning performance and also laser goes to the additional step of having older units ESA tested and certified for electrical approval in the US and Canada so when I spoke to the guys at laser what they recommended to use in the machine is one cup of water to one cup of vinegar and a dash of dish soap again make sure to use distilled water if you're gonna go that route it's basically half in half half water half vinegar and then your dish soap however for today I'm going to be trying out their ultrasonic cleaning solution that you can buy and it's basically one part of these two four parts of water now if you do use this stuff it is a bit more expensive than using the homemade solution of water and vinegar and dish soap just thought I let you guys know that in advance and before you use this product make sure to shake it well because some of the ingredients are at the bottom so since I've got four litres of water in the machine I'm going to prepare one liter of the solution here now in my previous ultrasonic cleaning video using the small machine here I had used water the Zep orange cleaner here and Dawn dish soap you can use this liberally along with the dish soap as well now more than likely everybody watching today will be using a different solution in their ultrasonic cleaner however the goal is the same is just to get your parts cleaned and whatever works good for you guys just comment in the comment section below so I've actually said the heat at 80 degrees Celsius I put it up higher I'm going to let this warm up and then I'm going to put some parts in there now here's the tip guys you can actually put your parts inside the machine until it warms up fully by having your part soaked it's going to be a lot easier to get that dirt off so I'll put it in with the dirt base in the bottom it's a lot nicer having the big machine guys you can get a lot more parts in there it was pretty difficult in a small one over there now one really important thing that the guys the laser told me is that when you use the machine make sure the baskets in there you don't want to put parts directly on the bottom of the machine without the basket if you don't use the basket and you put the parts directly on the bottom you can damage the transducers in the machine then it won't run properly after that so I'm going to let that sit in there until the liquid warms up so I've decided to set the heat at 70 it's now reading 78 degrees Celsius and now the ultrasonic part is set to 15 minutes and I will start it up and the sound of these machines is like nails on chalkboard you might want to go do something else so you don't have to listen to that the whole time [Music] okay so it's all done the 15 minutes they'll be careful it's extremely hot over here now when you grab the basket just use something hooks or pliers so you don't burn yourself lift up everything and I can already see that it did a really good job cleaning those carbs now when you pull your parts out they may be a bit hot so you might want to let them cool now it's going to take a bit of experimenting before you figure all this out so you got to figure out the cleaning solution what's the best heat setting for you and how long to leave the timer on but for these carbs here it did a super good job this carburetor here is super clean compared to what it was and again guys it is better if you put your carburetors apart in the machine these are just older carburetors that I keep for parts so I just threw them in whole like this one here but the exterior is extremely clean and I'm actually impressed using this cleaning solution here I only used one part of this cleaning solution to four parts of distilled water in the machine and I've got this Tecumseh carburetor that goes on to a snow blower I've actually removed the bowl and the float and take note here of the dirt on the card so I'm going to set it in to the machine I always try to get the dirtiest areas of the parts facing downwards so I've got the heat setting at 65 I brought it down a bit I've got the timer set at almost 16 minutes all right we're done with this carb and again it's extremely hot inside here now if you look at the carb here it came out extremely clean as you remember before I put it in the machine it was quite dirty on the intake manifold here the top of the carb was full of dirt but now it's extremely clean it looks like new again now the metal on the carb did not turn black like some other solutions do now there is a little bit of white in some areas but you can actually just wipe that off and when you take your carbs out of the ultrasonic cleaner it's not a bad idea to air blow them with your compressor blow gun but again I'm really impressed at how clean that came out and especially using this solution over here now there's a guy at laser that told me he uses four liters of distilled water to half a cup of dish soap and one tablespoon of baking soda in his solution I've never tried that solution but it's just something to keep in mind but overall it's a really good machine I'm extremely happy with it and it's a lot bigger than my old machine I think I will sell this one because it's way too small I'm just going to keep the big one in here in the winter time what I do when it's cold outside and cold in the shop because I don't heat it 24/7 is I'll put a bit of windshield washer inside the solution then it won't freeze you can also use plumbing antifreeze as well so this bigger ultrasonic cleaner guys will definitely make life easier for me in my shop this is the one that I recommend that you guys buy if you're thinking of getting one it's solid steel it's six liters it's huge and being solid like that it should put up with the abuse that a repair shop will give it now I'm just going to give you guys some shop tips here when I put a carburetor in the ultrasonic cleaner if it still doesn't run properly on the equipment I replace the whole carburetor it just gives you that extra edge to know what's a carbs gone in there if it doesn't work don't waste your time however sometimes I do manually go inside and clean some of the Jets before I put a carb in there depending on how dirty the carburetor is and sometimes guys running a carburetor through the ultrasonic cleaner may not fix it sometimes it's so dirty it's just so badly used or neglected that no matter what you do the carburetor will not run properly again so in that case just replace it with a brand new carburetor but at least by having it run through the machine here you can have peace of mind that you did the best you could to get that carburetor running good again and again the link to purchase this ultrasonic cleaner is under the video go check it out guys the guys that laser are great to deal with they've got awesome prices as well and they're always ready to help you if you have an issue with their equipment thanks again for watching guys make sure to subscribe and you can follow me on
