this right here is the brand new Shore nexine Dynamic vocal microphone and it uses a new type of Technology called the ronic Dual engine transducer technology which is a bit of a mouthful but basically what that means is that there's two different transducers in this microphone and with that design it's meant to give more clarity while at the same time reducing stage bleed there's two different models that you can get you can get this as a wired or Wireless model and it comes with either a cardioid polar pattern or a super cardioid polar pattern and you can see that I'm talking into one right now now and all the audio that you're going to hear from this video is going to be recorded on the nexine microphone this one in particular is the cardioid and then this one right here is the super cardioid if you aren't familiar with what those terms mean I'll get to that a little later in the video so this has been beta tested by multiple musicians at the Super Bowl halftime show the Grammys laap paloa and a bunch of other high-end touring artists sure was kind enough to send this over for me to check out and I've been using this over the last couple of months at multiple shows that I've played and long story short I am switching to this microphone this microphone is now my new main microphone that I will be using so many thanks to Sher for sending this over for me to check out however just as always all the opinions on my own and I am switching to this microphone as my new main microphone so we're going to see if this is something that is right for you in your setup there will be links available down below if you do decide that this is something that's right for you and also I will be doing a giveaway to one of my subscribers at the end of this video so be sure to stick around so you can find out how you can win one of these new microphones for yourself that's enough for the intro don't forget to subscribe if you're not already subscribed and let's go ahead and check this thing out before I start I do just want to say that I am going to record record all of the audio onto the nexine mic even on stuff where I'm demoing the microphone on the table I filmed all of that and then recorded all the voice over later on this microphone I know a lot of viewers are going to want a tone test of this microphone so you can hear how it sounds however I am just going to say I truly think that this shines live hearing it live is where it really shines I don't have drums behind me right now to show you how well it does with reducing stage bleed and stuff like that also the only processing that I'm doing on this microphone right now is just I'm doing a low cut of everything under 85 htz or somewhere around there and I do have a compressor on it just to balance out the tone however I will show you some other audio demos here in a little bit so first of all the packaging that you get is really nice on the nexine system whether you get the wired one or you get one of the wireless capsules it comes with these really nice carrying cases with the wired one you get the case you get the mic and you get a microphone clip nothing too crazy but again the case is really nice and the way you can tell if you have the cardioid one or the super cardioid one is down here at the bottom you will see that it has a c as well as a cardioid symbol and if you get the super cardioid one you will see that it has an S along with the super cardioid symbol if you do want to use this with one of your wireless microphone systems like I do you can get one of the capsules and they come in these little small carrying cases which is also really nice you can see that you have an option for cardioid as well as for super cardioid with both of these one of the things that's really nice is that it comes with these little caps that go onto the bottom of the capsule in order to protect it which is also a really nice touch but especially if you want to bring multiple capsules this case is really nice here is my Beta 87 which I've been using for a long time until now since I'm switching over to the nexine but I'm going to take it off here just unscrew it and then put the nexine capsule on on the top I'm using this with the sh sxd and I do have a video going over it if you are interested in checking out this wireless system that I use you can use the Shure nexine wireless capsules with the Shure sxd series qlxd ulxd or axient digital systems taking a look at the mic without the grill on top of it so you can unscrew it here not down here at the bottom for the wireless that will take the capsule off but if you unscrew up here towards the top that will take the grill off and you can get a look at the microphone itself you can see it says ronic technology on here really cool looking microphone as well you have the two different transducers you got one up here and one down here and then there's a gap in between here really cool looking design definitely something a bit different pretty cool looking mic so as far as the ronic technology there is a sure video that they released least that I think is going to explain it way better than I can but there are two different transducers or Motors whatever you want to call them but a transducer is basically just what converts the signal like me speaking into the microphone into an electric signal and with two of them it's meant to give it more of a natural sound while rejecting some of the sound that you don't want to hear again I do recommend watching that video if you want to find out more details about that design specifically I'm personally more interested in how does it sound I can be explained other there's two different transducers in here but I want to hear how it sounds personally so the clar of this microphone Live While reducing the stage bleed is really awesome and that is what has sold me on this microphone they do have a tagline that is more of what you want less of what you don't and I think that's the perfect tagline for this microphone to me there's a very nice presence boost that comes with this microphone while at the same time not adding a whole bunch of stage bleed the best way I could word it is it's almost like hearing a condenser microphone it's not the it's still a dynamic microphone but it leans more to that nice sound of a condenser microphone phone but still being a dynamic microphone for the longest time I've actually had a lot of trouble with having drums bleed into my inar monitor mix especially I turned my vocals up pretty loud in my ears mostly for when I'm doing vocal harmonies and stuff like that so I could really hear myself I used the beta 887 for a long long time it's a great sounding mic I love the sound of that mic but the thing is is that it would pick up a lot of the drums to me what I like about this mic is that it gives me that vocal Clarity of the 87 but it doesn't add all of those drums in there now the8 7 and the next n are going to sound different they're not the same exact microphones or anything like that I'm not suggesting that they are I'm just saying it has that Clarity that I like of the 87 while at the same time reducing that stage bleed and over the last couple of months I've used it at multiple different shows with multiple different configurations to test this thing out I play in way too many bands but that's probably a good thing because I could test this out in multiple different environments so one of the first shows I did with it I tested it out at an acoustic show that I did I could hear it out front I was like man this thing sounds really nice and clear but it also wasn't in like a band situation there were no drums behind me I was like okay Clarity is really good but what about that drum bleed so the next show I put it on my wireless for my SL XD and I brought it to a show where I played with a five-piece band really interesting set the first half was country second half was 80s really interesting set list but it allowed me to test it out in different types of genres and stuff too at that show I didn't bring my in your monitor rack they had a dedicated sound guy and he was in charge of sending us an in your monitor mix I remember at that show I was like there is definitely something about this microphone the clarity that I could get while I was on the microphone and I only had to really sing two songs as leads but then when I would back away and do harmonies you could still have that level of clarity from it and again the drum bleed was not super ridiculous that was where I was really like okay this thing has something to it I brought it to another show that I play with another band it's a wedding band that I play with sometimes and that one is particularly tough cuz there's four sometimes five microphones all in front of the drums cuz there's multiple singers in that band and again that was another time where I was like man this this is really doing a good job with that drum bleed even though the other mics weren't necessarily doing that but with my vocal mic you could definitely tell and then brought it to another show with my 9s band and at that show I was in charge of running the front of house sound as well as running my own INE monitors I was also testing out a new PA system that I will be reviewing that video should come out next week so be sure to subscribe to see that video the thing is that at that show I could really hear how good it sounded out front since I was in charge of soundchecking and everything like that especially when I heard the other mics versus my mic that's where you could really hear it live there's there's something about the clarity in this microphone and that was the first time where I really got to hear it from front of house I brought it to another show where my '90s band played an outdoor festival at this point I was already convinced I then brought it to a Duo show that I did with my wife it's kind of like a loud room but you know there's not drums behind me so it wasn't too awful and then I also played a solo set with those types of shows like solo and stuff like that I wasn't so much worried about it it it sounded great already the ones with the drums is what really sold me on it adding CL it removing the drum bleed that's what I wanted and that seems to be what this microphone does that's what I love about it I mean obviously it's not going to cut out the drums completely that's that's not how it works you know especially like symbols and stuff those are pretty loud especially if you have a bunch of microphones up in the front but it does such a good job of reducing that stage bleed while at the same time keeping the clarity how many times have I said that now I think you get it right as far as the handling noise I'm going to do some handling noise stuff and see what you think about it let's compare it to the sm58 so I feel like it definitely does reduce the handling noise it's not going to eliminate it completely but it does seem to reduce the handling noise on it as far as pricing as of right now whichever one you get either wired or the wireless capsules cardioid or super cardioid it's listed at $2.99 I will have links down below if you want to check this system out out for yourself since the product is so new right now it looks like just right now you can just get the capsules to replace your current capsules like I did with my Beta 87 however in the future they'll start selling you know the sh ulxd system with the nexine mic if you're watching this in the future I'll be sure to update the description down below so you can find the right system for you as far as cardioid versus super cardioid this is a really helpful graph that will help you understand it there a lot of other ones as well but we're looking at cardioid and super cardioid so the acceptance angle is about 130° with IID and 115 with super cardioid that's about the angle that it's going to pick up anything outside of that angle it's going to start to reject that signal just notice that the super cardioid is going to pick up a little bit more from the back and the cardioid does a better job of rear rejection by almost double so the super cardioid is the one that I chose cuz I want a little bit more isolation from that drum bleed there's no right or wrong answer it's just up to you but hopefully these images help you understand it and here's some examples of it so this is the cardioid version so you can see when I'm talking directly into it you can hear quite a bit but then as I start to move to the side it's going to reject that sound a lot more it's doing a really good job of rejecting that signal if I put it behind I mean you're basically getting nothing at this point and then switching over to the super cardioid it's the same idea I'm going to be a very strong signal right here but it'll start to reject the signal sooner as I start pulling away this way I don't know if it's going to pick that up necessarily but the further more I go away from the microphone the less signal it's going to pick up as I start turning this way and then this with a super cardioid you kind of with a I I probably should talk into here with a super cardioid it's supposed to pick up just a tiny bit from you know 180 degrees behind you can tell it still does a pretty good job of rejecting that signal it really does it's not very loud at all with the super cardioid Mike you do have to be a little bit more precise of where you want to be so for me the super cardioid is perfect cuz I want more rejection it's up to you to make that decision there's no right or wrong answer now this is without compression so this is kind of what I like about it is you can hear kind of the clarity of it but I will switch to both the standard sm58 but also to my favorite Studio mic which is the sm7 DB this is what I do all of my voiceover stuff unless if I'm demoing a new microphone of course but here's how the nexine sounds just by itself no EQ no compression I'm just going to leave this one completely dry and then here's how the standard sm58 sounds sm58 is definitely still completely usable but you can definitely tell that there is a presence boost in the nexine and if you've seen my channel before you might know that I'm always like okayy you should do blind tone tests so you shouldn't know which one is which but this entire video I've done on the nexine so I don't think I'm going to do that for this video since the entire audio has been on the nexine however normally I still recommend that you do blind tone tests in order to hear which one sounds better I'm going to switch over to my studio mic here so this one so obviously I do a lot more processing on this one if you want to see my review of this microphone this is one of my favorite microphones for studio and for voiceover stuff check out my video on that to me it's almost like the nexine gives me this type of level in my ears it's not the same mic I'm not trying to say it sounds exactly the same but the nexine mic gives me the clarity that I like of this studio mic in a live setting without all of the stage bleed that's kind of where I'm at with it is that's what it feels like to me is that it gives me more clarity more like the studio microphone but without all that stage bleed so up to you to make that decision if you do decide that this is something that's right for you I will have purchase links Down Below in the description if you do use those links it
