folks photo track here and making this video today because I'm a little pissed off mula pissed off at Kubota I'm gonna explain why in just a second take a look at my clock you'll see that I have ninety seven point eight hours on it and my tag here says that I need to service my engine again do my oil changes and do my 100 hour service now now it's close enough anyhow and I recently had a knee replacement some about three weeks out and nobody's around today so nobody knows that I'm hanging out in the barn doing work when I'm supposed to be resting so I decided that I would come on out and get that done the backstory on this is that the 50 hour service that was supposed to get done was done by the dealer because it was something that I negotiated when I purchased the tractor that they would do the 50 hour service and I wouldn't have to mess around with it so when I come back we'll get into the meat and potatoes of this video okay so some of you guys already know what I'm gonna complain about but for those of you who don't here we go so I came out I have to move the tractor and take the front end loader off and I'm standing here looking at it and I realized something and what I realized is that when you undo these two right there those two bolts or tie-downs there that hold the engine cowling in place you have to slide it forward when you slide it forward what happens is and of course the hood stays down because there's a little holder that does it while you slide it forward it runs right into the front of the bumper that's a little befuddled by this because I thought to myself wait I got to be missing something but no not missing anything that is exactly how Kubota did this now I haven't or at least I have a theory on what happened which is good enough for me because it's my world nobody took this into account and when they realized that with the bumper on you couldn't pull the front engine cowling off they just overlooked it nobody thought that it would be appropriate to go redesign it maybe put a hinge in it and a drop down or or you know space it forward enough so that you can slide the engine cowling off which is ultimately what I'm probably going to end up doing I'm going to fabricate a couple of plates and push the bumper forward enough because I want the bumper on it protects my tractor so I can get the cowling off and I feel responsible and making this video because of that hitch down there I did a video on modifying your tractor to put a hitch on having a hitch receiver on the front of your tractor is super super helpful when you have a lot of trailers like I do and you got to move trailers around your lot and you know you don't want to back a vehicle to them you can just run up to them with the front of your tractor and move them around but now I've got these bolts in there that hold the hitch on which by the way by red loctite it when I put them on and torque them down to 125 foot-pounds so I'm gonna need heat to overcome the red loctite or just break the bolts which isn't going to happen because they're great eight so my frustration is real and I cannot believe that Kubota went and pulled a stunt like that that that is unacceptable they've done so many things so right with this vehicle and I don't have a single complaint about it my only complaint is that I run out of traction before I run out of power that's just the dynamics of it but this is unexcusable this could have been fixed and I guess to my chagrin I didn't put the front receiver on until after the 50 hour service so now I've got a little bit a lot more work ahead of me than I thought I did and now it's turned out to be another project so we'll tear it down and I'll figure it out but just kind of giving you guys out there a heads up that before you put anything on the front of it keep in mind that you have to remove the bumper in order to remove the engine cowling to change the oil and do your services alright guys we're back so about 15 minutes with the fire wrench and the impact wrench and we were able to spin those nuts and bolts off take that off get the front cowling off I took some measurements before we started and I estimate that if you remove this muffler extension here if you remove this here what you need to get the cowling off is about three-quarters of an inch let's say one inch and we have plenty of room to kind of wiggle it and manipulate it whatever we have to do to get it off the machine I don't think that's that big a deal and in fact I really think that Kubota should make a free upgrade a couple of steel plates or a one-inch steel plate not a set of spacers where junk is going to collect behind here but a steel plate that's solid that pushes that bumper out one inch now the only thing that would have to be considered if you move the bumper out one inch is how does it affect the operation of the front end loader I don't know something else that has to be considered but again that there is no reason in the world why you need to take the front bumper off to take the engine cowling off to do a simple oil change doesn't make any sense to me and I just expected better out of Kubota I don't know I could be on a rant I could be wrong but let me know what you guys think so there's my two cents I'm not gonna do a video on changing oil because there's a ton of them out there so that's it that's it for me good luck and Godspeed go to track
