what's going on everyone I hope you're doing absolutely fantastic this is a 60-day update of the honey gourami Community tank and boy oh boy I'm super excited to show you what's been going on because there's been a lot of really cool things happening inside of this aquarium so let's get straight into it thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign so what you guys are looking at right now is the tank at exactly 60 days I wanted to show you guys what it looked like you know right at 60 days before we got the trimming and removing and adding stuff just so you guys could see exactly what it looked like and the growth that has actually occurred and it's grown a lot so so here it is let's enjoy it for a moment thank you so you probably already noticed something at this point and that is there are more fish in here than there were last month and that is because we've added more fish we added six green neon tetras and one more honey gourami and I'm super excited because these fish look absolutely stunning I could not wait to add them in the tank and they're just they're doing absolutely wonderful in here and they just look super cool and they're extremely fun to watch I have never owned green neon tetras before but they might be a new favorite they're insanely awesome and I would love to do like a black water tank with them at some point just because of the way they reflect light in low light situations it's it's awesome in addition to the tetras we decided to add one more honey gourami as well and um he she is doing pretty well I say he she because I actually have no idea if it's a male or female I really don't know so if you can like help me identify it let me know but uh yeah as far as the new Honey Grammy my girlfriend decided to give it the name honey graham cracker you know like honey gourami honey graham cracker what [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign we went ahead and cleared out all of the floating plans with the exception of duckweed obviously I mean what are you gonna do but um we have so many floating plants here we have water lettuce and then we have frog bed I separated them because when I put them back in I kind of want to do just frog bit because I want to see what it looks like um so yeah every time every month that I'm working on this tank I want to do something just slightly different so that you know it's constantly evolving and changing so so the first thing that I'm going to do here is I'm going to give this vowel scenario trim it's back to growing on the top which is honestly insane it's growing Through The Hardscape and it's even growing to the front which is just crazy because we planted it in the very back and now it's at the very front and look how tall it is this is in the front it's crazy to me that a runner would make its way all the way to the front in just that short amount of time so let's go ahead and take care of that thank you [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] all right so we just trimmed a ton um we went ahead and returned the valve scenario but I also trimmed the red tiger Lotus as well because I'm trying to train it to stay lower as you can see this is how much we have from a trimming session and I can assure you this is how much grows in a week with these plants I'm not even kidding develop scenario is insanely fast growing and the more you trim it the faster it'll grow and the more Runners it'll send out so it's kind of a catch-22 the more you trim it the faster it grows and the more of a burden it becomes to deal with so there's that so next thing that I want to do is I want to clear all the detritus from the front here as you can see we have a lot of detritus and this is from all the Almond leaves and Botanicals that I originally had in here and most of it has broken down as you can see and yeah it is extremely beneficial to have and we do have a lot of detritus and Botanicals in the back still so yeah I kind of want to clear up this friend section here and make room for more foreground to mid-ground plants [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] so we cleared up the detritus and I gotta say it's pretty satisfying to be able to see the sand again I can't remember the last time I was able to actually see sand and gravel on the front and obviously the plan here wasn't to completely make it sterile as you can see there's still a lot of detritus and I like the way it looks like that you know it still looks very natural looks weathered down and that's kind of how I want to keep it because detritus is actually beneficial to have but it was building up quite a bit here I mean we had like a half an inch maybe right here and yeah it was It was kind of getting out of control so you know when it comes to making tanks like this last longer you know it's always beneficial to have various iterations of whatever it is you're doing it just keeps it interesting and yeah I I'm enjoying seeing the sand again that's for sure so what's next is we had this cardinal plant here and you remember in the last episode I did actually cut it in half and I actually cut in half again so as you can see we have multiple cardinal plant that are now filling out the foreground and this all started from two plants so what I'm going to do is I'm going to go ahead and cut it again and continue to propagate it as you can see when you cut it it sends off more shoots and it grows in more densely so the more we cut it the more we replant it the better it's going to look so let's go ahead and do that all right so I'm just going to go ahead and cut this little piece oh get out of my way just going to cut this little piece of lobelia here every time I cut this plant I end up cutting the leaves off of it I really do like this plant though it's like kind of growing on me it's a plant that not really like people really talk about it it's a cool Plant though all right just gonna plant these little cuttings in here my goal is to basically just fill out this entire front with this plant and I kind of Loosely carpet it if you know what I'm saying so this is a relatively fast growing plant so there's no doubt in my mind that we can accomplish that foreign Japan that I got from a shrimp tank Let's uh let's plant this in the front we'll see what happens [Music] so do you guys remember in the last episode my java fern was creating new baby Java ferns well guess what holy shh so I didn't really know what to do without the Java ferns so I decided to sort of bunch it together and then I put it in a disposable pot so yeah eventually all these roots will just kind of tangle together and then it'll kind of effectively just become one plant and I can just pull it out all together I'm not really sure what to do with it just yet so I'm just going to go ahead and temporarily keep it in this better waterfall tank uh yeah it should be fine I'll keep the leaves immersed but I'm just keeping everything hydrated under the water yeah that should be fine I don't really know what to do with it so I'll just keep it there for now so I found this tiny little pot at the craft store and I really liked it I thought it was really adorable so I thought I don't know maybe I could incorporate it into this tank let's see what we can do I've always seen people do this thing where they put red tiger lotus in a pot and then it looks like the pot like fell like off a boat into the river that's kind of what I'm going for you know what I'm saying let me know what you think of it in the comments do you think it's legit or do you think it's [Music] all right [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music]
