in this video I show how I set up my 2007 Honda CRV for camping links for all of the products I use are listed in the video description below since this is our only vehicle my goal was a camper that could easily be set up and taken down as needed the back seats don't fold down flat in older Honda CRVs so I needed a way to have a bed platform that sits above the folded seats in order to to make room for the platform I move the front passenger seat all the way forward starting with a wood board that's 25 in wide by 72 in long I cut the board into three pieces and added hinges so the platform would be easier to get in the car and would also take up less space when stored a board covered with felt is placed between the seat and the bed platform where the top hinge is located to provide additional support four legs are attached via screws to the back section of the platform only to support the top 2/3 of the bed I drilled holes through the platform and four vertical boards and used bolts as drop pins to hold it all together adding a Yogo mat on top protects my mattress from the hinges after loading the rest of my camper gear I'm ready to go on this trip I headed to the Oregon coast for several nights of camping in the fall adding a a canopy makes it so I can have a place to cook out of the rain as well as adding privacy for my camper this canopy can attach to the side or back of a vehicle but since I use the back door for entering and exiting my camper I like to use it on the side this canopy includes long straps that go over my car and attach to the tire rims it also comes with Stakes to keep the canopy from moving around in the Wind for my Camp kitchen I use a small table and chair Under The Canopy then place my cooler and kitchen bin beside them for easy access the kitchen bin gets stored in my vehicle when I'm not using it to keep Critters from getting into it camping in an SUV is cramped for space so I like to keep my gear organized in bins these packaway bins from from REI hold everything I need to set up my camper for the ultimate and comfort for sleeping I use a 4-in thick foam and air mattress that's the same size as the bed platform paired with a Zin bivy bed sheet and sleeping quilt the Zin bivy bed is designed to be more like sleeping at home with a sheet that has a large hood and wings on the sides that zip to the quilt for lighting instead of using the vehicle's interior lights I add strings of fairy lights and rechargeable lanterns for ventilation I add a window screen to one side of the car so I can have the window partly open to let in fresh air and in warmer weather I hang a portable fan to keep the inside cool the screen and fan also help to keep condensation from forming inside the car for me one of the most important items in my camper setup are the window coverings not only do they provide needed privacy they also provide insulation I considered making my own but I found these heat shield window covers that are custom made based on the make model and year of your vehicle one side is metallic for reflecting Heat and the other is black for privacy since I use my camper in Colder Weather I place the black side facing outside and the metallic inside installation is simple just push them into [Music] place I love having a simple camper for quick trips and this setup is very comfortable to use too thanks for watching
