v12 straight through exhaust why did you do what you did what does this sound like i'd say mercy largo no mating please hi i'm adam c and welcome to a bmw 760 li this is a car from 2007 that came with a six liter v12 engine and being the 2007 model this is the post facelift version of the e65 and e66 generation of seven series designed by chris bengal who is also responsible for the e60 the e61 that sounded nice than the e63 and for six series so as i mentioned this has a six liter v12 there are other models with inline sixes or v8s petrol and diesel versions but this was their flagship model so the free facelift model had some weird style headlights this has been sourced out nicely and despite weighing 2.1 tonnes apparently it can reach 60 miles an hour in just 5.4 seconds it's got about 440 horsepower about 440 foot pounds of torque and it was sold as the executive luxury saloon car this one is the e66 model which is the long wheelbase version as opposed to the shorter wheelbase e65 but the engine is what we are celebrating today the v12 so this particular car is owned by a youtuber named it's joel who will be speaking to a little bit later it is in monaco blue you can see the lovely aerodynamic aerial that they put on this massive barge there's a little bit of arrow in the wing mirrors there we've spotted as well oh look it's me but this v12 was later put into rolls voices after it had been bought out to 6.7 liters but this is the six liter v12 and this car as you can tell by the title has been straight piped so it sounds like an aventador or murcielago we're gonna see exactly what car it sounds like we're gonna try and work it out because bmw never really used this v12 engine for performance cars obviously yes they had a v12 in the mclaren f1 but the cat-back system for this 760 li and on first inspection there is no exhaust but if you look underneath there it is wait no there it is facing downwards but you can see that is a full custom straight through exhaust with no back box whatsoever so to give you a bit more of an understanding of why this car has had what it's done to it here we have joel from the channel it's joel to tell you why he did what he did so why did you do what you did i don't know um because it's funny it sounds like an aventador i think yeah i think or any type of lamborghini yeah we've got some tunnels nearby seem to love these barges yeah and the fact that it's a v12 it just had to be straight by didn't it definitely definitely what you see and what you hear they don't add up i've also got a present for incredible we're now going to go up the road turn around and then enter a tunnel for a few more revs i've been abandoned i'm on my own oh here he comes that's not him that is a transit connect tell me what does this sound like [Music] i'd say mercy largo lamborghini murcielago not quite the modern sound of the aventador it's a 7 series that sounds like a lamborghini murcielago it's fantastic so we we've said hi to the cows i think it's time for a little drive in the 760 li standing for long injection it was the first ever direct injection petrol v12 and there it is right so i've got my face mask on to keep boris happy and in we get so it is a seven series i'm in the back i love it in the back there we go so you've got 18 way adjustment by pressing this one you can then manipulate this seat so you can annoy the front passenger i am relaxed down here if you flip that up oh it's not awesome no i apologize i've got an idrive system people didn't like the idrive system but my dad had an e60 and i loved it it was like really new and innovative at the time so we've got all kinds of settings and but what's oh there's the the rear blinds we'll we'll put that back up again lovely freezer ah champagne lovely it's oh fantastic where's the [Music] window it pushes you back in your seat quite surprisingly that was only about half what so we are now heading for hindhead tunnel which is as you probably guessed by the name a big tunnel in hine head the guy the van was wondering what's going on you must think i'm the queen some climate controls on the roof this is a sunglasses holder oh no it's a oh it's a mirror but you can't see yourself you can twist it can you yeah oh my nose down [Music] so i am now a chauffeur i'm going to experience the barge you've got joel in the back being chauffeured in his own car [Music] the car does shake a little bit it does it's like oh it's got character so we have the stalk which is here this side so i'm driving a straight pipe to bmw 760 lr probably the largest car that i have ever driven [Music] wow i mean at the high end it really pulls that's where you feel the torque in this it's not a lot of lowering but when when the revs climb as does the acceleration so that was joel's 760 li something a little bit different so i hope you enjoy that video i'm going to enjoy the drive back a bit more than a slow cruise that's what it's used to
