My First Day Being Homeless | Living in My Car

all right so I am currently in Abilene Texas I'm sitting in a random parking lot eating my lunch peanut butter sandwich two peanut butter sandwiches actually I'm actually smashing these at the moment but I just got finished taking my first shower in an actual locker room and that's probably going to be the most difficult part the shower itself wasn't Difficult by any means it was after the fact it was trying to navigate all of my self-care routine in that confined space without just walking out of the shower butt naked with my just hanging out for everyone to see that's not something that I haven't reached that level of Enlightenment yet I'm not at that level yet but I'm very very diligent about my self-care routine and that's not something that I'm willing to compromise on so that's just something that I'm going to have to deal with moving forward but everything else thus far has been perfectly fine I still need to get to that storage unit in LA so that I can get some of this stuff out of my car and sleep more comfortably and make my car more inconspicuous better for stealth camping if you will but as far as the car lifestyle in general I'm liking it so far these Vlogs any Vlog pertaining to me living in the car especially with me making this trip it's going to be very very raw just want to go ahead and put that out there right now because I'm making these videos for My Future Self for my future kids and for my family who seems to be much more concerned for my own well-being than I am because me personally I don't really see any risk associated with what I'm doing I don't see how it's any more dangerous in a regular life if anything I feel safer being in the car but I don't know I guess to each their own everyone has their perspective but at the same time I am just really really Satisfied Man I mean this only the first day this third video that I'm filming today we're out here putting in some work you guys are probably gonna see a lot more videos from me moving forward because I have a lot of free time I literally can just turn the camera on and just start talking but anyways I want to document this first day because this is going to be the first time that I sleep in the car as well I'm planning on going to Midland Texas and sleeping at the Love's Travel Shop over there for those of you who don't know what loves is it's basically this big gas station 24 hours it's very very big you can sleep there if you want they have showers there I believe private showers you pay 10 to 15 for like I said I already took a shower at the locker room and I'm going to continue to do that moving forward just to save money and I'm also going to continue to eat my peanut butter sandwiches to save money and yeah man I'm just going to document this process I don't know how many videos I'm gonna get out of this trip but I do know that I'm going to look back on this video one day and see just how far I've come because I'm already off to a good start [Music] okay so I don't know if you guys can hear me right now because I'm on the highway but basically the situation right now is that it is 7 53 p.m and I'm headed to Midland Texas and I'm trying to decide if I want to stay there for the night because I'm only a little over an hour away and when I get there it'll be what nine o'clock P.M I usually don't sleep that early anyways I'm thinking about continuing to drive from Midland to El Paso which is probably an extra four hours three four hours give or take but if I make that decision then I have to fully commit because I don't think there's really anything in between the two it's just vacant land so I don't really know what I should do with that I'm not tired at all I think that cold shower that I took at the gym earlier really really helped so I don't know we'll see all right so I am currently at Love's gas station I don't know if that's just a Texas thing or if there are Love's gas stations in other states but I'm at a Love's gas station in Midland Texas and I don't know if I said this earlier but this was where I was supposed to sleep there are other people sleeping in the parking lot but I have a little bit of excess energy and it is currently 9 47 p.m so I think what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna drive the extra four hours and go to El Paso when I get there it should be around one o'clock in the morning give or take I don't know if I just did the math correctly actually no it'll be two o'clock in the morning but because of the time zone change because the clock moves back an hour by going that far west it'll be one o'clock so as soon as I get there I'm going straight to sleep hopefully I'll even make it there bro I'm tired well I'm not tired but I don't know if I have enough energy to get over there but just finished gassing up so I think I'm gonna go ahead and take that leap of faith man we already took one Leap of Faith today by literally becoming homeless so I might as well just take that next leap of faith and drive that extra four hours man I gotta get used to being on the road for long periods of time by the time I finish this road trip I deserve an honorary CDL license so honestly I'm really not tired in the slightest bit that was my biggest concern is that if I hit that wall which I typically hit around two and a half hours once I hit that wall I don't really know if there's anywhere to stop but I think I'll be all right I'm pretty energized and if I can get to El Paso tonight and then wake up tomorrow and get to Phoenix then from Phoenix get to La that next day I'm good I'm Gucci at this point it's just a matter of endurance one thing that really helps me get through these long drives like this Pro tip for anybody out there listen to albums don't just listen to music listen to full cohesive albums and really pay attention right now I'm going through Kendrick Lamar's entire discography because what else will I do I made the mistake earlier of trying to listen to a podcast that I listened to a podcast while I was driving and I started seeing doubles in my vision I was like what the hell is going on I was falling asleep damn near didn't make it that first leg bro getting to Abilene from Dallas to Abilene I barely made that the second leg from Abilene to Midland I was perfectly fine because I listened to music I listen to albums so that's what I'm going to continue doing for the duration of this road trip and moving forward so if anybody knows any good albums feel free to put your boy on you know I like Kendrick Lamar you guys know I like that Lover Boy music I'm a big Daniel Caesar fan I love Frank Ocean gibeon rainy so on and so forth man I love the love songs but if there's anybody that I'm sleep on put me on the weather is just absolutely disgusting right now not even gonna lie to you but hey man we're just out here enjoying the open road this right here is the American dream this is what the American dream is to me having complete freedom and flexibility and just being able to live my life on my own terms that's what America's all about it's about freedom and I think that's what we need to start getting back to we need to free ourselves from the Matrix free ourselves from the indoctrination of the media and of consumerism not saying that you can't indulge in nice things or material items or whatever but don't identify with the things that you have because once you do that you don't own the things the things on you I don't know if you guys can tell how foggy it is outside right now but this is a perfect example of my life right now I'm literally just driving based on the next 100 feet 150 feet of light everything else is just pure uncertainty and just me walking in faith this is very very symbolic and metaphorical for it the way that I'm living my life and once you really lean into this level of surrender you find true Liberation and true freedom foreign bro when I tell you guys that I just got some of the best sleep of my entire life first of all it is freezing freezing cold in this car bro it's got to be 35 degrees outside tops but that's my sleeping bags are for okay we're prepared did you feel me we're prepared but you guys probably won't see me go into too many cold places I learned that last night it feels good here but I don't think I could tolerate No 20 degrees negative 10 no no no no no you guys will never see me post one of them videos talking about some I went car camping in negative 15 degrees no I'm not making one of those videos that's not me I'm not built for that okay this is about this is about the Baseline of my tolerance but let me go ahead and show you guys how I have the car set up I literally I just woke up maybe five minutes ago I woke up put my contact lenses in and turned this camera on because I want to show you guys the setup I got here probably around 12 40 A.M Mountain Time so it was about a four hour drive give or take from Midland and I'm Gonna Keep it to stack with you guys but I barely barely made it bro I was tired as hell but with the help of some trap music and just just an unrelenting desire to get to my destination I made it I made it here and that right there was the longest day of driving that I'll have because now I just need to go to Phoenix which I believe is about six hours and then I'm going from Phoenix to LA which I think is another six hours give or take so yeah and we out here we are out here in El Paso Texas honestly I thought I slept for 12 or so hours because I was sleeping good bro I mean I was gone I only slept for like five hours man I feel fully rejuvenated so basically I have my camping bed I have my sleeping bag and my pillow right here I have my window covers which I will show you guys more of here in the near future when I do a full car tour video stay tuned for that I have my window covers everywhere except for the front window because I don't really have enough space usually I'll just put a curtain between the back and the front but I don't have enough space to put that curtain up but luckily for me the window fogged up on its own so kind of provided its own extra layer of security and I know some people say that you should crack the windows for ventilation look I'm not doing that personally if it's 30 degrees outside I'm leaving these windows completely closed bruh if I die I die I don't care but I'm not I'm not opening the windows you got me messed up but I basically had to transfer everything that was here in the back either up in the front these two bags right there and then I have my blanket I have my laundry bag and my gym bag down there you guys remember that from earlier and then my technology bag is up here I'm a front passenger seat on top of the food and yeah man that's pretty much it I feel a little discombobulated right now I'm not gonna lie because I don't know it was one of those types of sleeps where when I woke up and I looked at the clock I didn't know if it was 6 00 a.m or 6 p.m this is the first time that I let myself sleep in in months so yeah I feel fully refreshed fully rejuvenated um at the Love's Travel Shop so I'm gonna go in the bathroom freshen up brush my teeth I got that morning breath right now bro I'll probably do some editing as well because I've been filming a lot in the past couple of days a lot of videos including this one right here so once they get all of that situated I guess I'm good to hit the road again I'll probably eat some breakfast first too I'm in no particular rush to get to Phoenix but I do I do want to get to Phoenix though I really just want to get to La but I want to get to Phoenix and maybe have some time to actually explore while the sun is still out yeah man this is crazy I haven't been in El Paso since I was 18 since me and my homie Levi Rose rode the bus from Dallas to La 30 hours now I'm out here doing this driving my damn self and I must say I have a lot more respect for the bus drivers fit
