hey everybody today I'm wanting to share with you a breakfast casserole that is the best breakfast casserole I've ever had it's easy to put together it tastes absolutely wonderful and I think it would be great for the holidays too if you do a family breakfast this would really be a hit I feel and I was just gonna share my granddaughter comes over from time to time and I always feed her when she's here and so I was making this and I said well if you were gonna be here longer I would give you what I'm cooking and she said well what are you cooking and I told her and I kind of explained how it was put together and she said well I'm just gonna wait and try it so she waited and I think the girl had a hollow tooth because she ate and ate and ate and loved it so I want to share it with y'all and hopefully y'all will love it as much as she did and I do so let's just go ahead and get this put together there's a couple different steps and as always if you think of something you want to do to make it your own do it and there's never a problem with that you should never feel like you're chained to how a recipe is written you can always make it your own so we're going to get down into the casserole dish and one day I'm gonna have a bigger spot to fix my food in so anyway depending on how much you want to make well it will depend on the size casserole you do you do it this is like a nine by thirteen now the first time I made this I took potatoes onions and green pepper and I chopped him up into little small hashbrown size pieces and it was delicious but to save all that chopping I just went ahead and got a bag of the orida hash browns with onions and peppers in it so this is a real time-saver but it'll be really good whichever way you decide to do it so I'm just dumping this in the casserole dish breaking up just one big lump okay now what you want to do and be letting your oven preheat on 375 take some olive oil and put enough on here that it will cut your potatoes probably about two good tablespoons worth the input your seasonings that you think you'd like I'm gonna put some garlic salt and some basil there's a lot of you know I love basil and some onion salt even though it has onion in it in the potatoes still add a little onion salt a little bit of Adobe I think that's really flavorful so I'll put a little bit of that and you don't want to get real heavy handed in this recipe with your seasonings and I'm gonna put some sage so once you have all your seasonings in there just stir them up get your potatoes cabbage with your olive oil and your seasonings and then you're gonna stick this in your oven just like this on 375 until your potatoes are done and a little bit crispy so I'm gonna go ahead and stick this in every say 5 to 10 minutes give it a little stir and when you see that your potatoes are done and just a little bit crispy maybe around the edges it's it really does need to have a little crease to it then take it out and you'll be ready for the next step which I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and show you what you can be doing so get a roll of your favorite sausage this would be good with hard if you like quiet my family's not a hot sausage eater that much so I got the mild but open it up the whole roll that didn't make sense of course we're gonna open the whole roll and you you know it's going to take a little while to get your your potatoes done but you can go ahead and get this done and be a step ahead or if you want to wait until until your potatoes are done to do this that's fine too but I'll put you back down now I'm just taking this whole Oh see I always have smoke I don't know if you can see that but I have smoke coming out of this state or and I think I must I don't use this a whole lot and I'm most dropping seeing it but anyhow you just want to crumble this up and get it right up done and so probably watching sausage fry would be pretty boring so what I'm gonna do in the sausage gets done is I'll come back and we'll go ahead hit some words this print work done and get over to the side now this sausage did not make much and just and you want a very thin I guess you would say a paste but very thin the more flour you put the more gravy you can make but if you if you pick too much flour in your whatever grease you're using then you know you add your meal freeze or water whatever you choose you're gonna make your flavor they water down so you don't want to make too thin or too thick of a mixture of great a button I'm gonna get this out just hold on you don't want to get too thin of a mixture of your flour with your fries because when you thin it down you're gonna lose the lighting up flavor so you want this to cook and keep stirring for a few minutes because you want to burn off the taste of your flour can you want to incorporate the taste of your sausage I say that looks yeah that looks real good even when sometimes you think you've just burnt your flower too much it still will make it good gravy but I'm gonna turn that down to about medium and I'm using 2% milk because that's what we drink and I'm gonna add some to my [Music] sausage and old mixture I like to add about half of what I think I'm gonna use and let that warm up and then I add more milk and in this particular recipe because we're going to be putting this in the oven it's gonna thicken up so you're gonna might want to make it a little thinner than what you would normally want your gravy and then when it's cooking it's gonna thicken up and it'll be what you want if you would make it the perfect consistency and stick it in the oven then you're gonna have a big blob of gravy so we're going to disturb this and get our gravy like we want it and you can add some salt and pepper to this if you want to I'm not going to because a lot of times I like to let people do that on their plate because different people like different amounts of seasonings so with salt and pepper I usually just let the person do their own thing with it so I have the sausage here that is ready to go in our casserole this I'm going to turn this up a little bit and get it get it finished making and when it's done I'm just going to cut the burner up and let it sit until our potatoes are ready and if you wanted to add egg to this you could just scramble up the amount of eggs you want i wouldn't put them in raw it just doesn't sound good to me and then you could layer them but with this recipe i just don't think the eggs would do it any favors so what I'm gonna do is finish letting this gravy get thickened up I'm gonna let the potatoes finish crispy then I'm gonna bring you back we'll finish putting it together and stick it in the oven let it cook and then we'll give it a try so I'll see you back shortly okay y'all the potatoes the hash browns are ready so let's get this put together and back in the oven and give it a try so here it is the potatoes are tender kickthrough and slightly crisp we're going to take our sausage that we cooked up earlier and we're just gonna layer this over the potatoes and spread that out a little bit then we're going to put our gravy and that's a little part we're gonna put our gravy over it and see from just sitting it's kind of gotten pretty thick but it'll still be fine so with if you like a lot of gravy make life ready if you don't care that much for gravy then don't make a lot but this recipe does need some gravy and spread this over then the next thing you're gonna do is take a roll of greens biscuits they don't have to be grands you can use just whatever kind of biscuit you want and we're gonna open em up and I like to use my kitchen scissors and smite I guess thought that I use these for everything in the kitchen I only use these for food and I wash them in between so they're sanitary for what I'm doing but take a biscuit and cut them in fourths and just drop them on there you can make a pretty pattern if you want to but I just drop them on there you don't have to fit the whole pack if you don't want to if you're making a smaller recipe you can just use part of the pack of these just whatever you want to do I believe I'm going to go ahead and use the whole pack today and you know these come and even in I believe it's sweet Hawaiian flavor I love sweet Hawaiian rolls I haven't tried this sweet Hawaiian biscuits but I bet they're good so we're getting down here to the last two biscuits just feel in where where you need to be a skip they're say now it's still hot from where I just took it out of the oven what I'm gonna do is stick these back in the oven 375 just like it was for browning the potatoes and this will cook until the biscuits are golden brown we'll take it out let it set them in it and then we'll serve some up and see how we like it okay I'm back with the finished breakfast casserole and it looks gorgeous I started filming the tasting part and something happened so I've got to re-film it and I've already cut a piece but I'm sure you understand but here it is nice and golden-brown it just came out perfectly I cut a piece and here it is and as I said if you wanted to add egg to it you could and so now I'm gonna give it a taste it's really hot oh my goodness this is so so good you get all the different flavors textures it's very comforting it's just really delicious so I hope you give this a try if you're not able to do it for Christmas because you have something that you have this tried-and-true sometimes you know during the year just give this a try and see what you think because it is good and I'm not a big breakfast casserole person but I love this so anyway I hope you enjoy it I thank you so much for watch and have a wonderful day and I will see you soon
