a year ago to this day I thought it would be amazing to start up and excesses in business my fascination in the subject started when I was very young reading many testimonies viewing accounts and watching documentaries on the fight with the real-life paranormal I wasn't influenced by media such as the exorcism movies they were obviously embellished for entertainment but there was something fascinating to me about the unexplainable paranormal accounts that somehow link up between hundreds if not thousands of people despite them never meeting I not only was fascinated but I was also inspired I marveled at the achievements of famous paranormal investigators such as Edie and Lorraine Warren and aspired to follow in the same industry first I built on my tour set a range of religious symbols notably across salt not just normal salt it's a misconception they can use just any salt I found the real deal blessed salt a number of symbolic herbs and spices some legitimate holy water that I took in myself to be blessed and what I wanted to be my signature my ring which I got blessed in case I needed to get hands on I piled all these into a builder's belt to have at all times this led me to the next phase setting up the company I came up with a catchy exercise your rights right spell our itës have fun playing words if I do say so myself I listed myself in the local ad section in the weekly free newspaper and waited after only a day of publication I got my first call such a fast response sent my endorphins skyrocketing I picked up and answer the phone very competently as I expected the people calling was stuttering sounding very nervous I got an imagine calling a demon hunter as I like to think of myself was a very common and easy thing I agreed to meet so they may give me more details as they seem too distraught talked over the phone this was it my first client a client I would remember for the rest of my life I arrived that evening something I pushed for us I was so excited I bet I let on I didn't want to come across as childish so I acted professionally to the best of my ability the place I ended up aunt was an old house on the outskirts of town a pre-war build which sat ready to be far away from neighbors on all sides the clients were a family who'd found out they had inherited in a while back however was never aware until now they wanted to renovate it modernize the whole thing and move in very straightforward stuff the only part that wasn't straightforward were the mishaps builders who worked inside were always complaining about seeing things move where there shouldn't be movement they also mentioned a horrible smell which could never be sourced and the constant faint sound of whispering at first the family thought they'd hired a bunch of nutjobs and burn a new team but when the new team complained of the exact same thing they knew they were dealing with something else they got a spiritualist to go around and they confirmed that what was happening was indeed paranormal and us contacted me to do the dirty work well they were explaining all of this I had to hide my excitement putting on the facade of a caring yet confident man I decided to leave out the fact that this was my first time but to me that didn't matter I read the steps on this a hundred times I'd practiced a hundred more in my house and the way I saw it the only thing separating me from the rest was actual experience a hurdle I was seconds away from clearing I told them to just stay outside but I was confident I could sort things and to not be worried about loud noises from within the house while I was in there in a fit of bravado I remember specifically telling them not to come in under any circumstance that made me feel so badass with that out of the way I strutted up to the property shoulders bared took a deep breath open the door give her a final wave to the family and went inside darkness that was the first sensation to hit me I fired up my mag light confident it'll be more than enough to illuminate my surroundings but no matter where I shown it I felt it never seemed to illuminate as much as it should've outside the standard cone of light yonas warned me beforehand that construction was partly done so I'd have to be careful of hazards no matter I thought to myself this just meant I'd have to exercise caution it took me a few minutes to slowly make a small lap of the house inspecting the room says I went through them when I start to realize I'd done a circle the first wave of symptoms hit me my mind felt foggy and my body started to feel a bit woozy it was all akin to the feeling of the early stages of a bad body flu I were on my shoulders trying to shake it off and took out my bag of salt I had to use both hands while trying to UM string the bag so my light was waving around the place just as the knot was almost undone the light wave passed an object startlingly close to me it lasted less than a second and it took my mind a few seconds to truly register what I felt I'd seen but after a while it was undeniable right in front of me was a glimpse of an inhuman face I flinched them immediately dropping the bag and spilling the contents all over the floor as my heart settled and I took a few deep breaths I realized the colossal goof I'd just done it was all wasted only a pinch remained on the upturned bag which I defeated Li stuffed in my pocket this didn't distract me however from the mental image of the horror freshly imprinted in my brain it was this moment where my confidence notably dropped down a notch and it was that trigger which made me notice the faint sound it sounded like wisps of air however was too deliberate and constant just be wind the only thing akin to it was consistent whispering I started to panic and in that moment it hit me that maybe just maybe this whole thing was not actually worth it I slowly made my way over to the front door ready to call it quits and twisted the knob nothing the door didn't budge I then started pulling on it each time getting more violent I even tried calling out for help or slamming on the door no response I didn't want to think about what was stopping the door I wanted to believe it was the old house settling which caused the door to jam in the frame however I've concluded that that was just very wishful thinking my heart was racing this was nothing like I'd imagined it'd be and worst of all I had the sinking feeling that things would only get worse I remembered from a brief lap of the building that through the house past the kitchen there was an exit I was no back door as they were trying to convert the area into an open conservatory which was abandoned halfway through by the first team of builders this meant that there was no way for a door to be jammed I trod my way through the house however each step I took felt heavier than the last the woozy feeling was setting in it was setting in fast by the time I reached the doorway to the kitchen I was relying on the wall for support I hated closing my eyes because each time I deprived myself of sight I would concentrate more on sound not things I was hearing would not pleasant the whispering from before had grown into a cacophony of a whispered chatter so overlapped but not a single word could be distinguished but the malicious tone was ever-present however the only reason I wanted to close my eyes in the first place was because as I stumbled around my light waved about slicing lines through the darkness every so often the light would reveal the edges of something sinister laying in wait just out of sight my relief from reaching my destination was short-lived I looked onward to the open dat wall where the conservatory was to be built with the despair between me and escape was a floor with no floorboards another half-finished construction job which meant the only way to escape was the carefully balanced on the old possibly fragile joists something seemingly impossible in my current state of dizziness I stood there feeling defeated I imagined myself amazingly making me across to safety and at the same time imagined a scenario where I would fall through the joists into the basement below it was as these daydreams played over and over my head that I got my new brilliant idea all hope wasn't lost yet the basement was the answer before entering the house I noticed that there was one of those staircase exits from the basement which was unlocked due to the construction if I could make it down there I could get out that way the only downside would be that I'd have to go into the basement a daunting feat considering the fact that unspeakable horrors always seemed to originate in basements no matter though this new goal was enough to motivate me and if that was where the horror lay it gave me a way to find it and possibly end it I straighten my back rolled my shoulders and headed back in the house towards the basement door when I made it there I froze my suspicions were being more and more proven to be true as I stood in front of my new objective the door practically buzzed with activity a strong feeling of deterrant was given off by simply being in front of the door the whispers from before but even more frantic now and it scared me more not seeing the figure as I was getting a little move feeling that it was waiting for me on the other side of the door a new addition to the horror was the smell an overlay of indescribably bad smells emanated from behind the door seemingly an added warning to stay out whether it be the false provider from before or the foolish determination to get out but bracelet on up twisted it and entered each step I took down seemed to exaggerate the insanity that was going on around me my mind started to walk from the sensory overload I felt that I was pushed to my limit and beyond until my foot hit the ground below in my mind I don't like it shattered a heavy feeling bore over my body my pressure I'd never felt before pushing in from all around me my breathing became staggered causing me to gasp for air with each breath I dropped to my knee trying to compose myself however each attempt to push on felt like a step in the wrong direction a primal part of my mind protesting to my conscious urge to push forward my focus was brought back when I heard a sound from behind me it emanated from under the steps behind me they slowly rose turning slowly to face what I felt to be my demise a breeze rolled over me in intervals but decrepid smell carried with it every so often the wretched smile would sound from the darkness in front of me I had no desire to see what was hiding as even with a light facing the ground the glimmers of something wet faintly reflected off something large in the shadows whatever it was it was big out of fear I stumbled back a few steps the creature seemed to slowly slither towards me eventually picked up my pace stepping further and further back I created no distance between me and that thing as it soon picked a bit space to the whispers were rampant at this point getting more overwhelming the further I stepped back soon my back hit the wall and I started to make peace if the wall was here that meant the exit was behind whatever was in front of me something seemingly impossible to comprehend let alone get around the whispers was there a constant hiss tearing away my mind from within like a drill through a watermelon I slid down the wall wanting to be at least relaxed as I met my demise when my back shut it off of something it was an old valve a strong hissing came from it along with an awful smell without thinking I tried turning it off to no avail it was stuck all my concentration was on this now as I pulled out something I could use out of my belt the result being the metal cross I brought with me I quickly jammed it in and used it as leverage to twist the valve shut the hissing immediately stopped along with the smell I was left in a room completely filled with silence i sat there as I composed myself trying to add things up was all this caused by a gas leak I stood up now feeling a lot more in control way through the darkness in front of me unobstructed the basement doorway to the outside world and gasps bear ever before at normal everyday air tasted so good the couple ran over to me helping me to my feed they were in awe as I slowly built myself from the ground up I was bombarded with questions none of which I hands his straight forwardly when I finally came to my senses I was filled with my own questions I first asked why they didn't open the door when I was hitting it they reminded me that I told him not to interfere under any circumstance and I quickly covered them my stupidity by praising them for following my instruction I rushed away telling them I had to write this all up at once and that I now had a lot of paperwork to do I let them know that they should call me to tell me how things are in a week and with that they paid me and I left when I got home I crashed I bawled into tears due to how stressful it all was and how foolish I had been there's something life-changing about legitimately accepting your own death and that still haunts me to this day after that I kept the business open for another week however each call I got I always gave an excuse as to why I couldn't make it after a while I just accepted that this was my brain telling me I didn't want to do this anymore I threw everything away as to never be reminded of this incident again however something still rolls through my mind every so often as promised a week later the family called and updated me on how things were apparently all sightings and sounds had stopped and the workers all gave overwhelmingly positive feedback in the working conditions I was concerned about the idea of another gas leak in their house so I decided to probe for more information through some small eyes I started talking about how I went through the house and exorcised each room that the worst offender was the basement I transitioned the subjects to asking if they'd been down there since which they said they had I mentioned that during a particular struggle I may have knocked the gas pipe then I accidentally twisted a valve with my cross I mentioned that I thought I smelled gas after which they should get checked as soon as possible I remember I was so impressed with myself how I managed to bring up the possible gas leak without giving away the fact that I possibly scanned them that night his feeling Massena raised with their response they told me that the house was so old that there were no gas pipes installed yet but that was one of the jobs they were planning on doing in the future and at the valve I twisted was simply one of the shut-off valves for the houses water supply [Music] [Music] you
