My 1st Time In Indonesia 🇮🇩 Batam 1st Impressions

Germany okay let's see what will happen ah it looks actually very very good I have to   say that's okay that's okay  keep the change hello hello if I like money today we are going to  Indonesia we're taking the ferry from   Singapore over to an island called  batam Island and yeah it's going to   be my first proper visit to Indonesia  it's been on my list for a very long   time so I'm very excited so join me on  the journey from Singapore to Indonesia so I bought a ticket already online but I  the email I got set I need to exchange the   the voucher I have basically into real ticket at  the counter and the email also said I need to be   there more than one hour in advance and it is  less than one hour in advance so I'm a bit late   already hopefully that's not a problem ah here we  go Majestic fairy sindo Ferry that's my company   right there okay ticket secured let's what the  ferry it looks a little bit like like an airport   here to be honest very modern Ferry Terminal  I have to say and then yeah there also needs   to be immigration here before I enter the ferry  because yeah we are leaving Singapore so leaving   one country obviously and then entering the next  one all right and I am through immigration and uh   out of Singapore and yeah I had a really good  time here in Singapore I'm really impressed by   the country and I'm pretty sure that sooner or  later I will return to Singapore but yeah now   I am at the terminal and it looks a little  bit like at the airport here so I'm just   waiting for the ferry to arrive and then off  to Indonesia I'm also very excited for a new   country all right let's board the ferry this  is going to be our ride for the next one hour   and in case you're wondering the price of the  ferry was about 40 USD can just sit anywhere [Music] upstairs oh let's go upstairs then   let's see usually you have seats on your  ticket right but here it's not the case   oh actually it looks pretty nice to be  honest actually I think I prefer downstairs all right I will leave my bag right here  actually the seats are looking quite nice   ah let's test it very comfortable the leg space  okay for a tall person like me it's a bit limited   but no problem because I'm sitting here so I can  just stretch my legs right here and then I already   see there's some water here which we will probably  get later and then we have a TV right here which   has nothing on screen at the moment but yeah  I think the first impressions here should be   an easy ride I mean it's just one hour anyway I  can take one yeah yeah okay ah free water okay splashed a little bit I'm gonna just see you can  buy I think instant noodles and coffee there for   two dollars for the noodles and one dollar for  the coffee and yeah in case you're new to the   channel I am currently on a journey that started  a few weeks ago in Bangkok Thailand and the goal   is to reach Jakarta Indonesia without taking a  single flight so I took a 30 hour train journey   from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur then I took the bus  from kl to Singapore and now I'm taking the ferry   to Indonesia and then I have to figure out how to  get from batam Island to Jakarta without a flight   all right and we are leaving even earlier than  schedule it is now 1 15 and we were scheduled   to leave at 1 20. I'm really Amazed by that  leaving very much on time here in Singapore so bye bye Singapore [Music] and here  to show you where we are and where   we're going so Singapore right here we're  just leaving and then batam island is just   this island right here and there's the town  here batam City that's where we're heading to always we are like 45 minutes into the journey  so almost there and here pretty easy right you   can see it's not really busy here pretty empty  so easy going and incredible experience here and welcome to Indonesia guys and yeah this  is the first time on my channel that we are   visiting this country I think actually Indonesia  is probably a most requested Channel by you guys   in the comment section so I'm very happy to be  here now and yeah this is also the start of the   proper Indonesia series I'm probably going to stay  here for the full month the full length of my Visa   and I'm trying to reach Jakarta in the next days  or weeks and now batam Island but yeah first let's   see if I can actually enter the country because  I don't have a Visa yet but I should be able to   buy a visa on arrival and yeah the funny thing  is the ferry ride was quite exactly one hour   but because of the time difference between batam  and Singapore it is now the exact same time as it   was when I left Singapore and welcome to batam  all right and I am in the country and that was   a very smooth and easy process there are almost  no other foreigners arriving here so I was the   first person in line you can buy the visa on  arrival it was 50 Singapore dollar now or 500   000 Indonesia rupiah but yeah I could pay with  single very easy and I already gained my first   subscriber here in Indonesia the immigration  officer he saw my camera and he was asking   hey are you a YouTuber and then he subscribed to  my channel as well and yeah now let's see money   changer because I do have more Singapore dollar  left oh hello I have Singapore dollar yeah [Music] how much I have left I think I have like  80 left okay let's yeah 50 60 70 81 83 uh so you take 28 000 Commission   that's okay I the price give the company you  also need to earn some money right I understand all right so yeah they have super high  notes here so this is one hundred thousand   and yeah I'm almost a millionaire now I  have 900 000 Indonesia rupiah you know   and it exchange rate is like one US dollar  is about 16 000 Indonesia rupiah so a bit   confusing when you're new here you have to  get used to all the high notes 900 and 5   000 so almost a millionaire now all  right next mission I need a SIM card can I get a SIM card here being in a new country  is always so exciting I love it no idea to be   honest I didn't made a lot of research that's  what I what I enjoy often to be honest just   arriving somewhere without a lot of planning  and research in advance so I have to figure   out everything on the ground here and I think I  have SIM card here hi can I get a SIM card here can I get a SIM card here  yeah okay I need for one month you have unlimited data to 32 not unlimited right unlimited 250.00 that is 16 okay yeah  please but only 32 GB yeah   yeah but it's only 32. but it finished next week I think we have a bit of a miscommunication here  what is the meaning of unlimited because it says   32 that's not unlimited for me that's limited the  limit is 32 and you have you're from Indonesia   watching this please let me know if this is  already a good price or not a good price for a   SIM card I have to say the first impression of the  local language here it sounds to me like I'm back   in Malaysia the languages are very similar Bahasa  Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia yeah and in case you   don't know I spent over one year of my life in  Malaysia I have lots of videos from Malaysia on   my channel so let's see how much of my bars and my  life I can actually use here okay we are switching   the SIM cards now and yeah I have a dual SIM phone  so I always have my German Sim in the phone and   then the second Sim slot is always for the for  the country I am in oh it's all in German you   can understand yeah oh she knows exactly how to  do everything although everything is in German and   she probably does this like many many times every  day so she knows exactly where to click okay okay   okay yeah I'm still confused it says 32 GB here  but she said unlimited this is unlimited yeah let's see if the data is working nope first  of all I didn't work okay we made it working   after a few minutes it's now working just  restarted the phone a couple of times okay I'm connected to the world let's see how I  will get to my hotel I see a taxi counter already depends if you are more  expensive than grab or sand fries yeah why not okay let me just check the price so I know  what's a good price we have big problem yeah   why why is grab big problem the web is not legal  how much from here to eBay Styles Hotel this one seventy bad but I just wanna  I wanna know the the price for comparison you know   so grab is 40 000 only so that's like half the  price rep is only forty thousand half the price indeed I know yeah everyone the same price but   I can take grab for forty thousand  and you want almost eighty thousands it's not legal no I'm not I'm not so sure  about that the grab is black black color yeah not register Asia actually it's good to take all the bike taxis again yeah  we have no motorbike taxis in Singapore no motor   like Texas and Malaysia so I haven't been in the  country with motorbike taxis for very very good   I have to say so this is typical or famous popular  all over Indonesia it's just like you eat this for   breakfast or lunch normally lunch okay it looks  actually very very good and let me tell you it   also smells absolutely delicious okay let me try  a meatball first right here the meatball was a   good first impression do you mix it together yeah  yeah you have a chili and sunny right chili sauce   ketchup ketchup well it's very flavorful oh I  like it it's a very flavorful broth just the   broth itself a little bit salty but in a good way  so not too salty I like the saltiness of this one   and then we also have one gigantic meatball right  here but almost like spaghetti noodles here you   can roll them here on the spoon oh very nice  that's very good oh enough very Enoch okay um how much I paid for both right here so 56 000 for two meals here all  right that was a delicious first meal here in   Indonesia okay thank you very much nice to meet  you okay have flavor and this one is less chocolate  this is I can try yeah okay let's try hazelnut oh tastes like a Nutella yeah you know  Nutella yeah tastes exactly like Nutella   oh the dark chocolate was better and  this one durian yeah okay you guys know   I recently tried Julian in Malaysia  and it was okay but not my favorite Julian from from Indonesia [Music]   from Malaysia Malaysian durian here  okay let's see if I like this one you like to win yeah   so you're selling this here right do you have some  and this dark chocolate oh it's like a big piece   of cake oh we have something small because one  piece is too big for me I just I have food already   but because you're letting me try I would like  to buy something okay then how much is one slice   42 yeah who makes the cake you make it do you  make the cake or you buy them I mean you make   it oh okay okay it's a homemade cakes okay so the  marketing here worked really well thank you so   much thank you your marketing worked giving out  free samples and then I buy something in return the ticket office for the ferry up there yeah so I go up there yes thank you very  much okay so um when I am in a new country and   it is my first day I'm obviously very keen to try  everything that is being offered to me so when you   ever happen to see me somewhere on my first day in  a new country I am an easy target for everything   you want to sell to me because yeah that's what  you want to do when you're in a new country you   just want to try things right especially try  Foods drinks desserts anything that's new to   you I mean obviously I have tried chocolate cake  before but I think you get the point and I also   got the information in return where I can find  the ticket office so let me actually figure out   how I can continue the journey towards Jakarta  okay I talked to the ferry operators here the   ticket office and so there's no direct Ferry or  boat or ship going to Jakarta so I have to take   a little D route and I think I have an idea of  which V route I will take I think it's going to be   an interesting Journey towards Jakarta but I will  update you give you more information about that in   the
