My 1 month progress in building a tech startup

[Music] hello and welcome back this is episode 2 of my startup vlog series if you haven't seen episode 1 i highly recommend you go and watch that right now if you want to see what my startup idea is all about and why i decided to document my journey [Music] so i did post episode 1 into matt developer's slow growth community just so i can get a bit of feedback to help me with my uh next few uploads that i do for this series and i did get some really really helpful feedback to the thumbnail so i might use this feedback work on the thumbnail right now because it's a really really easy and quick fix i can do and i don't know just see where it goes from there and i almost forgot to mention that the book in the thumbnail is atomic habits by james clear i definitely recommend it's a really good book so this is the thumbnail i'm most likely going to use it for the video it's pretty much the same thing but i just made it so you can't see the window in the background anymore so hopefully it's a little bit less distracting and also make sure that the book is forefront and the thumbnail because part of the feedback was that the book was a really good selling point for the title so now i just need to change the thumbnail on the video to this one so now i'm just going to quickly show what progress i've made with the app at this stage i just wanted to take priority in allowing the web app to add edit and delete tasks the reason for this will certainly link firebase firestore into the web app and make sure that data can be added and retrieved between web app and firestore without any errors i thought it would be better to get the firebase firestore sorted now rather than later on down the line because as more features get added into the app it will be a lot harder to stay on top of areas within the data so here is what i've basically done so far so you can so basically when you just click the ad here or come up with a pop-up which allows you to add tasks and you can obviously add a title you've got a space here to add description and subtask and add a location and you can add a date here so if i was to do just today's date friday 27th of may and just call this tidy desk so my task is called tidy desk and my description i don't know just put i am going to tidy up and then you can add subtasks here so i've got four subtasks and just add a location so let's put home office and when you hit save it will appear here so i can just click it here now then it will show me all the details which i have for the task so it shows me the date the description i've added and all my subtasks here as well as the location if i finished it the task i can put mark complete then it will just fade out here but obviously i'm not finished yet because i've got all these subtitles i want to complete before that so i can click these then i'll just put the tick there and i'll just cross out and if i wanted to however just change the date to tomorrow perhaps just press save then it changes it to tomorrow so by doing that that's literally just going to the pencil here which is edit task and just going onto the date tab and pressing here to change the date and you can also delete the task here so i can literally just press the bin as simple as that and the task is removed and it's gone from the database however there are some things to on the add task page which i haven't added and that is literally to do with the date here i want to have like a slot here awaken at a time say seven o'clock eight o'clock and then i'll add the task here and i'll say seven o'clock and right next to the name on the day that's on i also want to add a repeat option field so if i have a task and i'll put it friday 27th of may i'll have an option here to add a repeat so i can add it say daily weekly monthly or annually or any other custom repeat which you want to set up yourself i also need to make it so you can edit some tasks because right now it only displays some tasks and you can set the subtasks as complete or uncomplete but when you go to edit there is no way that you can edit the subtasks so that's something i need to take priority and i need to work on that as soon as possible so here is the firebase console where all of the data is being held for all the tasks and then i have a subfield here which is where the subtasks are held so there's just one here the name of course the id of the subtask and the complete so whether the subtask is being marked as true or false which means if it's been completed or uncompleted there is still so much more things i have to add to this and so much more to do this is just a really really basic and early version that i put together so i can test out the firebase file store so one of the things i want to add on to here is a drag and drop feature so instead of um going into here edit and then changing the date to make it change to a new day like just like this i want to make it so you can literally grab the task and you can drag it onto a different like field here which will be much more easier to do rather than just always going into edit and changing the date and another thing i want to do is to add a 30-day or let's say like a monthly review so you can see all days within a month rather than just seeing a five-day view which is here as a default option so you can see all the tasks you have coming up in that month and another thing i really need to do as well is to start a calendar feature because right now it doesn't really match the female website so if i can probably add some pink or make the background black here with white text that'll be probably a lot more fitting for the website rather than how it is right now right now i think it's in a really good position but later on down the line there is a lot more features on our ad so right here on the side there'll be buttons for other features such as sleeping hours uh meditation uh adding meals workouts and adding gaming sessions so that's something i need to work on in the long run and also there's a whole feature for the custom list which will appear at the bottom of this page here so i need to work on that as well but for now i think this basic version i have is looking really good so i just need to use this improve on what i have here and hopefully i'll be able to get an alpha version out so people can start testing out and giving me feedback on things i can add or things i can improve on before i release this properly if you want to become a beta tester and get access to the alpha version that i'm planning to
