so over the last few months you would have noticed many changes that have come through for international students here in Australia and if you are planning to study in July 2024 you will need to know about all these changes and in this video we will talk about the changes for the upcoming intake in July 2024 and some tips that will help you to prepare better if you are planning to study in July intake without wasting much time let's get into the topics so first of all let's discuss some of the updates that you need to know that has come through over the last few months there many of them so please hold your seats tight the first one is in regards to English language requirement so from 23rd of March 2024 Australian government has increased the English language requirements if you are planning to apply for a student visa the minimum score for the English language requirements for a student visa has increased from 5.5 to 6.0 if you are taking is test or equivalent for the test so you need to score at least minimum of 6.0 in your Isles or equivalent in other tests such as pte and so on now if you are going to do a packaged Al course course which is packaging your English course with other course such as certificates or diplomas the requirement has increased from 4.5 to 5.0 as a minimum again this is in terms of is tests or equivalent in other English tests however if you're going to do alicor course only or a Foundation program for your University then there are no changes to those score requirements have a look at this screenshot here where we mention about all the requirements in terms of your English language for your student vasas this gives you an overview of what you need to achieve if you are planning to study in Australia in terms of Isles or pte scores you're welcome to take a screenshot of it moving on to the second change which is the GS requirement on 23rd of March 2024 Australian government also introduced new genuine student requirements these genuine student requirement has replaced GTE genuine temporary entrance now there is a new format for this new GS requirement in the past in GTE statement you had to write a 300w statement which is now replaced with the new format of set of targeted questions that you will need to answer the maximum word limit for each of these questions is 150 words these targeted questions relates to the current situation of you as an applicant so what is your financial situation your family situation your home country situation and also regarding your course why you're choosing a specific course what is making you choose a specific education provider how choosing this course benefits your career there are more specific questions we have mentioned in one of our previous video where we discuss in bit more detail about these questions and what are the Expectations by the department of Home Affairs so if you want to watch that video we will leave a link of that in the description box below the next thing you need to know about is temporary graduate Visas so there are few Chang changes that we expecting to come into effect in the middle of the Year regarding the temporary graduate visas while some of them have already come into effect still waiting for an update regarding some others so first let's discuss about the things that have already come into effect we will start with the English language requirements for the temporary graduate Visas so the minimum test score required for applying for temporary graduate visas has increased from 6.0 to 6.5 in Isles or equivalent in other tests with a minimum of 5.5 in each of all the four components of of the test which is reading writing speaking and listening also the English language test validity has been reduced for temporary graduate Visa applicants previously the validity was 3 years now it has been reduced to just one year so the English test you are taking for your student visas more likely will not be applicable if you're applying for your temporary graduate visa after finishing your studies now there is also announcement regarding the end of extension of post stady work visa rights that will come into effect from the middle of the Year 202 4 they haven't mentioned a specific date but if it's the middle of the year you can expect it around 1st of July basically this extension of post work visas were announced only last year from 1st of July 2023 where certain qualifications with a skill shortage in Australia were able to get additional 2 years of post study work visas but now from the middle of the year that will not be available as government has scrapped this extension on post stady work visas for those courses in the areas of skill shortage also the government government is planning to reduce the age of temporary graduate visas from 50 years to 35 years this has not been implemented yet but we are waiting for an update regarding when it will be actually implemented but it is going to happen sometime in the future now another update you probably have heard about it already as it came in the late last year already which was about meeting Financial requirements some student visa applicants are required to show their financial capacity to study in Australia and that Financial capacity has increased from the 1st of October 2023 so you need to show a minimum of $4,550 in your savings if you are planning to apply for your student visa for Australia as I mentioned earlier this has already came into a fact last year but it is important for you to note as you're planning to study in July intake now some other news updates that you need to be mindful of also as there has been a report regarding High student visa rejection rates and also delays in getting student visas over the last few months we have been hearing the news regarding the High student visa rejections by the department of Home Affairs and there has been reports regarding a delays in getting student visas as well and here are a couple of possible changes that the government is still considering that has been reported by the media in Australia please note that these changes has not come into effect yet but the government is actively considering these options and we really hope they don't come into effect cuz they are not really positive ones the first one is possibility of gap on International stre numbers so recently it was reported for it that there are more than 700,000 International students studying in Australia and there has been a lot of talk in terms of capping the student numbers something similar to what Canada has already done and government is actively considering that option so you need to keep in mind when you're applying for your visas for the July 2024 intake the other thing government is also considering is increase in student visa fee currently it is sitting around $710 Australian dollars so you need to have at least $710 to apply for a student visa if you're planning to study in Australia but the government is considering to substantially increase this fees in the media there were some reports that they might be considering to increase it up to $2,500 yes that sounds outrageous and we believe it is outrageous because Australia is already one of the most expensive countries when it comes to student visa fee so putting the prices up three times more is just Insanity we hope it does not happen it is something that government is actively considering as well they may not increase it by that much but increase in student visa fee is pretty much on the table probably from the 1st of July 2024 we don't know how much increase it will be though we will leave the link of these news updates in the description box below for you to read further about it now these were some of the major updates you need to be mindful of if you're planning to study in July 2024 let's discuss some tips that will help you to prepare if you're planning to study in that intake first thing first will be to apply as soon as possible the department of Home Affair itself suggests that you should apply for at least at least 8 weeks before the commencement of your course so let's say if your course is starting on 15th of July you should be sending your application at least 8 weeks before that idly before 15th of May as it will give enough time for the Department to give decision on your application also make sure all your documents are as per the requirements do not miss out on giving any document that is required for your student visa application make sure they are up to date and thoroughly check them before submitting for your student visa application next suggestion will be to work with your education agent or migration agent closely don't just leave everything for the migration agent or the education agent they probably have thousands of other applicants like yourself so it is your responsibility to work closely with them when you're submitting your application get in touch with them regularly make sure you provide all the documents as quickly as possible to them and work along with them to make the whole Visa process smoother also in terms of planning for your arrival in Australia a suggest to do a couple of things first thing will be to book your accommodation as early as possible soon as you get some decision regarding your Visa very importantly start looking up for student accommodation it has been quite a difficult time for people to get a student accommodation not only students even the local residents are finding it difficult to get an accommodation here and we have been saying this for a while now as this is the reality everyone is facing so I suggest you to book your accommodation as soon as you get a decision regarding your Visa hopefully PA positively if you want to look for accommodation options we've got a link in the description box below you can search up accommodation near your University via that link so I highly suggest you to check that link and compare the prices as well we also got ton of resources regarding how to find accommodation so feel free to search through the channel as we have plenty of videos regarding finding accommodation in Australia last but not the least and very importantly prepare yourself for parttime work before arriving in Australia getting a part-time job as an international student has been quite t for some students the reality is that many students have come over the last couple of years and getting a part-time job has become difficult especially for the students who are just arriving so my suggestion would be to start preparing yourself beforehand some of the suggestions I would give it to you is work on your resume and cover letter before arriving if you need a template for that we got a free one on our website check the link in the description for that I also suggest you start undertaking some short courses that can help you to land a job we've got a separate video regarding that also so please check the description for that you could pick up some skills in some online work as well such as video editing social media marketing photography videography so that can help you to learn jobs faster and if you can't find work in Australia at least you can get some work online we got a short course regarding finding a part-time work in Australia coming soon as well we will leave a link of that in the description box below as soon as it's ready or we will pin it in the comment section as well I also recommend you to subscribe to our news news letter which is obviously free for you to sign up as we will update the students as soon as the course is ready the course will be less than an hour long but it will give you all the important information that you need to know before arriving in Australia so that you can find part-time work as soon as you arrive well I hope you find this information useful in case you need to know
