[Music] in election season what about the Muslim vote and is there even such a thing as the Muslim vote I'm you're with the moo story at a time when there is huge debate around the absence of political representation for India's Muslim Community the BJP has begun an Outreach with at least members of the pasanda Muslims while not having had a Muslim member in the loksabha in the last outgoing loksabha this at a time when leaders like akiles yadav have earned the bjp's criticism after his meeting with the family of gangster Dawn MTAR Ansari the BJP has slammed the samajwadi party leader for this meeting akilesh yadav says he believes the family that mkar Ansari was killed in the larger picture questions of representation remain we had prominent political voices like Shahid sidiki walk out of the rld after it joined hands with the NDA we've had Modi critics turned fans like zafur sesalla talk on our podcast about what what they're calling the political decimation of Muslims and we had the Prime Minister bat for Mad l in Hyderabad who's taking on aadin oesi but the data tells its own story Muslims like all communities in India have never been a monolith Muslims like all communities in India are not to be caricatured and stereotyped and Muslims like all communities in India have a mind of their own and cannot be generalized in any way despite fite those cavates are there certain trends that are emerging around the political campaign today when it comes to the Muslim voter the Muslim vote and the politicians attitude to the Indian Muslim voter let's introduce a very very interesting panel of guests today Shahid sidiki is with us Shahid sidiki of course has been a veteran journalist but he's also been a politician he was still very recently with the rld and he only recently left the rld because he said he was not com comtable with what he called an the constitution of India being now under threat we're also joined by zafur sesa zafur sesa of course is a prominent businessman he has been a fierce Modi critic as you saw in our podcast he then became a Modi Advocate but in that podcast he spoke of how he believes the political decimation of Muslims is today evident what does he mean by that we'll find out in a moment zenab sikander is with us zenab has been a journalist is now wearing a different hat she's a spokesperson of the rld the same party that Shahid sa left only recently so this is a new avatar for zenap and welcome back zenup to the program and also joining us is Aikman he's an Islamic scholar and a commentator on current affairs aik sa it's always a pleasure uh to have you with us now remember we're talking at a time when there has been a huge controversy uh with the Prime Minister uh in fact attacking the Congress Manifesto drawing a comparison between the Congress and the Muslim League the Congress is hitting back um at this so every day there is it seems to be in this election season uh that there is a new uh polarizing and polarized conversation I want to get opening comments from two people Shahid sidiki and zafur sesalla and I don't know how many of you know uh but they've been friends they've known each other a long time and there was a time when Shahid sidiki today who's quit the rld was thrown out of the samajwadi party after he interviewed Prime Minister Modi who was then the chief minister of Gujarat why have you quit the uh look I had no problem with rld joining hands with BJP my problem is not as a Muslim my problem is as a as a Indian who has believed in Indian democracy Indian constitution Indian political system and I felt that today it's not election is not about Muslims or Hindus or Ram Mand this election is about India Indian constitution and and the Democracy which we have built in last 70 years and the institutions which we have built and this India cannot grow cannot remain United cannot achieve what we want to achieve without the institutions which we have built and demolishing or damaging the institutions is not in the interest of the country the major reason I have left rld is because rld had not joined BJP rld had gone into NDA in the past also they were part of NDA there are parties I have no issue with that my issue is basically when the when the institutions are attacked then I feel it maybe any party I stood up against Congress during the emergency I went to jail during the emergency I went to jail fighting Mr Arun Naru and others when they were attacking the institutions as as a journalist as as a activist I believe that India is Great India is recognized globally because of its Democratic institutions and the day they go we will we will have uh we will not have the India which Mahatma Gandhi and molana aad and subash BOS and sadar Patel were buil built in by their sacrifices okay so the very important thing that you've said is that you have not quit the rld as a Muslim you have quit the rld as a politician and I think that's a very important distinction because these days everything is made into Hindu Muslim and I'm sure zenab is somebody who is with the same party that you quit uh will want to respond to that but before that I'll get za salla to also come in uh before I play out a clip of zafur sarala from our podcast the headlines we are seeing is of Pani headlines Za Shahid sidiki had interviewed Narendra Modi then the Gujarat chief minister uh you were also you were also in the no you were also involved in that interview and Mr sidiki got thrown out of the samajwadi party now I raise this because the BJP will say Shahid sidiki is not even allowed to interview Narendra Modi but Akil yadav can meet MTAR ansari's family just just just framing an irony that I see theala how do you see your old friend Shah sik is leaving the rld because he he sayl Hindu politics what do you say you know because you have because I was party to that so let me add the story to that there's a story to it and it's very interesting in fact uh we had a round table in my house I think this was somewhere around 2012 you know before Gujarat election and Shahid Siddiki was there in that and he was in samajwadi party at that time Saleem Sab was there Mahesh bat was there then other two three from film fraternity and also one one or two upcoming BJP ministers I'm not naming they were also there and we were discussing so when to me and sale so said that you are a journalist you ask him said he was reluctant as you know he is and he said let people decide Modi sa accepted even that and true to it Shai Sab will vouch that and you know the best part was when he came sh Siddiki came to our office and he had list of questions and when my brother read those question he said zafur B after these questions Modi will not let you enter in anyway we went I was also there shid Sab asked every single question question which sit would have asked him and that is the Kahan of that interview and and I and I can see Shahed agreeing I'll get shahid's brief response but zaf Sak today when your friend Shahid sidiki quits the rld what would you say to him see uh as it is see I'm not you know that in my podcast also I said this I have no problem where Muslims Vote or they don't vote whichever party they want to vote they may go but I tell and and a lot of young people are coming to me I say go to any political party you want to go go to go to Shiva go to Congress go to samajwadi go to BJP don't remain there as a kakara as a foot soldier alone go in that party as a decision maker and I yes Shai sidiki s was at a very respectable position wherever he was so my advice to him that wherever he goes he should be in that DEC making position only otherwise I yes I'll get a brief response from Shahid and then I think it's only fair that I go to zenab because rld is the party that Shahid sidiki has left Shahid Sab I didn't see you disagreeing with zafur sab's account at all exactly exactly that's what happened that's what happened and I interviewed him as as a journalist and I I I I will again interview him 100 times because before interviewing Narendra Modi I had interviewed atel bhari bajpai adwani all the leaders of of Vish Hindu parishad Ashok singal daal K many people have not heard the names of those who were in The Forefront of the ram Mand movement I interviewed every one of them and printed them I interviewed Bal takre twice so for me interviewing a person is to allowing the people to to understand what he believes in as as a as a Democrat it's my duty to bring everybody not just interviewing people I agree with especially I love to interv people I don't agree with and that's why my job as a journalist and that's where I was when I was asked by samaj party to to apologize I refus to apologize because as a journalist I did my job and I put Mr nendra Modi in the in the and and every question was about the rights not not about Gujarat not about development in Gujarat not about Mod's life but about what had happened in 2002 but don't you but don't you think party then showed a kind of intolerance and you know if you justos it today with akiles yadav going to meet MTAR anari's [Music] family word I hate the word let me let me let me let me let me add something I have I have changed parties for the reason that I always went in a party not as a foot soldier as a policy maker as a Indian not as a Muslim if I am if anybody thinks even in your program if if I'm called as a Muslim I refuse to come I I get very annoyed because I was a professor of political science I have been a national journalist I have interviewed every prime minister in this country I have been active I I have been in jail during emergency I have been in jail under fighting Arun Neu on Kashmir issue so I'm not a Muslim alone I'm not a onedimensional person to think that every person who has a name Muslim name should be treated only as a Muslim I hate that I refuse to be allowed to do that therefore therefore when when I when I I'm in a party I want to be the decision maker here in rld I was not the decision maker decision was taken by I have great love and respect for Jen I treat him as a younger brother I have lot of respect for him but decision was his not mine I was I was I'm the and youre disagreement your core disagreement CH your core disagreement was with the BJP not not with rld my core agree disagreement is with BJP not with the way Modi G is is campaigning today I disagree with that because all attack is on about RAM on Muslim Muslim League or Hindus being attacked or Hindu I mean how long are you going to take the same Narrative of Hindu how long it is the third time talk about what you have done what you are going to do don't talk about this and doing this I I cannot stand that I cannot as I had said I cannot look at my face in the mirror and I wanted to remain but I could not and I I decided to very humbly Decline and so so what I'm going to do is I'm going to you said your problem is with the BJP not with the Rd I'm going to play out prime minister's comments this is about the congress party but the we are not doing a you know Congress versus BJP discussion but it's relevant to the conversation uh where he has invoked the Muslim League while talking about the Congress manif listen ing it's typical dog whistle which he has been doing it Mia musar in 2002 I remember a dog whistle Muslim League is not talking about Muslim League he's talking about Muslims because Congress is not talking about Muslim League he they have few things they have mentioned where mus minorities May benefit so even mentioning them is a crime today this is this is extremely dangerous Okay let's listen to what PM said and we can then open it up for discussion uh one minute Shahid sidiki says the very ref is dog whistling politics is it we'll get Zed and ATA to respond but first let's just uh play the statement of the Prime Minister where he likened the Congress Manifesto to the 1930s Muslim League [Music] [Music] listen Muslim League Congress Muslim [Music] League Congress okay uh zenab sikander Shahid sidiki says that a his problem was not with rld with Jan Chi but with the BJP and these comments they have since been reinforced by the BJP president JP NADA as well these are polarizing comments these are dog whistling comments even the mayor mention of Muslims in the Congress Manifesto has triggered this what do you think are you comfortable an ally doesn't have to agree with everything are you comfortable with these comments I'm glad you said that that as allies we don't have to agree with everything when you get into an alliance with someone there are points that you keep and they keep and you reach a middle ground and there are some things that you accept some things that you don't comment on now as far as rld is concerned I would like to bring it into notice uh how we are you know when it comes to the minorities just day before yesterday J&J uh uh you know made a letter public U you know saying that 51% of the funds of the party which come to our vaks are mlas in utar Pradesh they have to be spent on either the SCS or Muslims and in that he gave 34% to the SCS and 16% to Muslims so when it comes to rld as a party because see why Narendra Modi G says what he says what is his idea behind it what is his if you want to call it dog whistling if you want to call it playing to the galleries or if you want to call it maybe he is talking about nationalism when it comes to comparing Muslim League and the Congress of that time because those are the two things he said you know that is something that only a BJP spokesperson can say but as a Rd spokesperson I'm saying that when we entered the alliance our agenda was very clear rld is a very secular party and we uh Western utar Pradesh is heavily dominated with JS and Muslims and they are a basic boot bang which is why Jan G very openly has uh tweeted this letter in which he said that I'll be giving 16% to minorities and 34% to scss secondly when it comes to rld taking a decision to join the NDA even Shahid s would know this because he's been the vice president of our party and I would like to point out one thing U maybe Shu feels that he was not in a decision-making role but please remember he was preceded by j& himself in this role when Aji G was alive the vice president of the party was Jan Chri G himself so so the the role that he had was of the of the now president of the party so I think that was a very significant role which he sat in I mean we all looked up to him and we all look up to that uh you know that designation of Vice President of rld that being said um when uh Ari was joining the NDA uh we have two um uh vaks two mlas um of the Muslim Community in our party and you know Barka I also feel very uncomfortable in always speaking about the religion of a politician because I am the last person who fits uh the sort of the look of you know someone who's stereotypically Muslim although I'm a practicing Muslim and I am a devout Muslim and I'm very proud to be a Muslim so um you know I don't think that anybody who is in public life has to only cater to the community that they belong to if I am joining politics today I don't have to only cater to the Muslim cause I have to cater to the cause of my party and the vision of my party and I agree to on Shahid siki's point that he felt it would be a betrayal to be with an rld that is with the B the NDA you would say what and I want to we've just lost aoan I'm sure he'll reconnect I want to play out a clip of Za of zaf zafur from our podcast which is very provocative and I've seen it I've seen it yeah you've seen it okay but on shahid's exit on shahid's exit what would you say yes so I was just coming to my point so when uh you know janii had this had this decision to take that we have to join the NDA all the mlas were called and we have two Muslim mlas sitting mlas right now and even our poor viak X mlas who are from the Muslim Community were consulted and everybody was of the same opinion that if rlt as a party has to do something in Western utar Pradesh especially when it comes to infrastructural development development for for our Farmers you know um you know doing anything that that will benefit the farmers like for example right now the call is Ghana charop par which is that the fair price on sugar cane will be above 400 um you know and 370 or 340 is right now the price so we want to take it above 400 so we knew that when we'll be in government when we'll be with the NDA we'll be able to do this more because we have already sat in opposition and done whatever we could you know for the people who are again the people that we work for which are farmers but do but do you do you agree with the Prime Minister comparing the Congress Manifesto to the Muslim League you said as an ally we don't have to agree on everything do you agree with with this see see to be honest the whole Muslim League par to Congress I haven't even read the Congress Manifesto I personally feel maybe it is a call to nationalism and if he was to you know speak about it further probably he'll say this but I don't want to comment on it because it is it is not my business okay let's just get aoan and then we'll we'll we'll come back to to all the others again AA please go ahead uh you know when you see the this the the political environment today uh you know contradictions contradictions inter options before the Muslim Community I want to make it very clear that I make no assumptions about the Muslims of India being a monolith I make no assumption about the four of you being only some one-dimensional voices of Muslims you are all complex multi-dimensional multi- human beings being your religious identity is one part of your identity and you all interpret it in different ways and that is personal to you so I just wanted to say that AR please goad that's important what you said and as sh also said and janab also said I AB the idea that I am expected to vote on the lines being Muslim not on the lines that I am an Indian I am a caraker of the of the Constitution of India we are the custodians of the legacy of the Indian constitution and that's what shab and I are fighting for and we should fight all such forces which bring in communalism into politics now as you are saying that what is the air of Elections and voting and Muslim patterns we are being forced to think on communal lines because the BJP is pinpointing every every gun of theirs in their AR armors towards the Muslims look at the issues in the past you know just 20 days what they have you know along with the uh CAA and all they are targeting the mother they are targeting the Muslim minority status they are targeting the amus Muslim status in the Supreme Court there there spokespersons on every channel are saying that Muslims are not the minority they are the second largest majority in India so they are attacking the core issue of the constitutional rights of the minorities ured in the Constitution which were de so on what ground are we expected to vote and Z she she since she has you know joined a party which is Allied to the BJP I would like to ask the question that it's so easy Z to say that we are just an ally but not being a you know same thinking and same ideology of the so can't you question your ally partner that what are you doing is not constitutional politics but com Okay one minute uh we can't hear arik sa just let me unmute him uh uh arik sa you have muted yourself at your and G say please complete your point so the last point I was making is z should ask the question to an Allied partner that what you are doing is not constitutional politics but anti-national and anti-muslim and anti-secular it's your responsibility that to ask question to your Allied Partners you cannot take a middle ground and say that we are just an Allied Partners isues okay there was a slight crackle in your comment maybe your headphone is lose I'll get Z to respond to that that you can't It's too convenient for you to be an ally and say this is about constitutional rights why are you not raising questions why are you not displaying anger please respond Zena firstly um rashal loal as a party is a party essentially based in Western utar Pradesh so for us to speak naturally about what's happening you know it has to be in context for example you right now played a clip in which the namis were being hit by the police constable and we can show we can show those shots now because that policemen did get suspended but there was outrage about the fact that the policemen got suspended we can show those pictures there now and this is only one of the fault lines today that is much discussed Zen go ahead so um what social media is saying about this incident I I cannot be bothered about because that's not not my uh you know it's not my responsibility to see how Society is responding to this but my party leader Jan Chri G when this uh when he was asked a question about this very clip he clearly said so I basically when we are in a position of power our opinions matter and they are the ones that set the tone so I think Rd has kept its Stone very clear when it comes to how we want to be seen and how we see minorities within this country when it comes to questioning the BJP let us be in power first and then you know will come the time where we can show you know I always believe it is walk the talk you know there are a lot of people sitting in very big National parties and I don't want to take names of parties who say a lot but do very little you know and actually why not I will take names when it comes to the Congress or when it comes to the samajwadi party they also play to the galleries when it comes to the Muslim Community if you see the Muslim Community has been so ghettoized in all the states that they were in power you know when it comes to the last 75 years of Independence and please don't think I'm speaking the BJP line because this is reality if you see Gujarat if you even come to Delhi the silos that were made the ghettoization of Muslims has been extreme there are no ATMs also for Muslims in Muslim areas so when it comes to development you know my take is that when any party speaks of development it will benefit every one you cannot say oh you are a Muslim so this yoga is not for you that is not possible in a democracy if that happens I will say yes democracy but to just whistleblow and say oh my God democracy on what basis are you saying it yes if you're saying because because Atik S I know will say what he will say he will say it is based on hate speech okay I will even say something on that also when it comes to us as allies in NDA what we also notice that when the BJP was taking out his List look at the amount of hate speech perpetrators that had dropped from giving tickets and Bara you also know there were so many people who were dropped from giving from being given tickets because they are known to be repeat offenders when it comes to hate speech okay let's AR just a minute I want to play a clip where zafur sesa argues he uses a phrase he says political decimation mus political decimation what does he mean by this let's listen in and then let's look at the numbers the data and the representation because we should let the numbers do the talking let's play this clip from our podcast with Za I feel Muslims decimation politically is complete there's no why do you say that because you tell me decimation so what do you mean by political decimation please explain it has started from but what do you mean by it9 BP I'm not even talking BP 85 [Music] 90% [Music] for example [Music] Muslim committee and kistan Ministry committee or committee Za BP are you not giving too free a pass to the BJP I agree with you what You' said about the other parties representation tickets but BJP did not have a single Muslim member in the Lo saaba in the outgoing Lo saaba is despite prime minister modi's Outreach with pasanda Muslims and so on despite tickets given to pasanda Muslims and up local poll the fact is and this is one data point that after 2019 Muslims who make up 15% of India's population only 5% were NPS is this not something that should bother us now see Bara why I'm saying I'm not talking of BJP because BJP process we know this BJP 85% for years together Muslims [Music] 8590 show their I feel this shows what I'm doing Zab is highly educated sh sik is wherever he is for what what is his single USP he's Highly Educated he is a professor in a college why not because he's a Muslim because he's educated so I feel now if Muslims in this country want to bring their relevance there are two or in mr's word he told me react not reacting I can see that difference education Point valid but why should high education equal or not coexist with political relevance everyone wants to react now 15% you leave NCP also Cong mades Rajan and 15 20 how many tickets they give symbolic 2% two and half% okay let me getk sabk sa zaf sesa's core argument is BJP parties come the parties that come to power on a sizable percentage of Muslim votes are as defensive about giving Muslim candidates tiets and they have less right if I'm paraphrasing what would you say with him you knows head yes sir go ahead I can't hear you hear you sir let I'm going to let you fix your audio just remove your headphones I'll get Shah sidiki and zenab to come in in the meantime uh sh please respond Shah bka I agree with lot of what zafur sares Bala has said but at the same time I'll say that in last 10 years an atmosphere has been created it has been built that everybody is afraid of giving even what is due to the Muslims and whever even if they give a little they are called Muslim League they are called Muslim chaplo they are attacked day in and day out as anti-hindu whether it's a mam banery or it's akesh yadav mullah mulim or or the left government in Kerala even if you give what you know zanab said 16% in in in in muzafar nagar and Western up where Muslims are 40% if you're giving 16% even that is not acceptable but and and the fact is that yes Muslims have committed mistakes Muslim leaders has committed mistakes Muslims have blindly supported a party or blindly opposed a party and I have said it again and again I'm against blindly opposing any party whether it's BJP or chipsa or anybody or blindly supporting anybody party should be supported on issues or opposed on issues and Muslims should behave as Indians first not as a vote bank or voting on community is which party which party Shahid Shahid which party has not played politics look look I agree with you I I have I have always I have always opposed that and the reason I have left parties in the past is that when they are out of power they they play the M card but once they are in power they don't give what they should be giving and that's where I ask questions because they want only two types of Muslims as any minority in the world it has to follow this path of capability education nobody can stop you and I am proud this country is a wonderful country I I tell my kashmiri friends that the day you decide that you have nowhere else to go you are going to live and die in this country this country will make you great Kashmir will become one of the greatest regions of India so but I think you I I think you have made two powerful points EnV Muslim Muslim Community exploit super defensive I'll get zenab and Zer to respond but aik sa I'm really hoping I can hear you let's make another attempt please bul sir not sir no sir but but trones let's let's try let's try B yes sir am I audible yeah yeah thank you yes sir make your point was the thing we were [Laughter] [Laughter] doing Muslim end of the Muslims in India is only 2024 okay okay okay I'm going to play the role of a summarizer here because aik sab's line is really badik but you don't agree with zaf inss are being now I should say here that the citizenship Amendment act does not impact the status of Indian Muslim citizens as of today citizen is going to lose their citizenship I just wanted to say that but your other points are very very valid and I want zenab and zaer to respond to them Za you speak of Education sh says but he also says the environment is such that parties are not giving tickets if they say something about minorities they're compared to Muslim say education then are minority institutions being challenged so these are contradictions right yeah bar I will start when the first verse of Quran was revealed to the prophet when he was in that atmosphere it was worse than what mran is talking about what we are in India but but it is not that remotely that was the worst he everybody was against him and the situation was very bad for people who were following the word of God and the prophet and which was the first verse of Quran read read by the name of Allah or lick everything will fall in place because it has a reference but then but then why why challenge why challenge the minority status of educational institutions which have been created to lift communities out of social economic backwardness see about I I I'll quote that Hadith Prophet has said Mak to to get knowledge because and then you you can see that those 7 800 years of Islamic rule mathematics physics chemistry those were the inventions now coming back to what you asked see that I don't want to comment because it is already there in the Supreme Court but I'm coming to a mood Point Bara I would not put blame on any government we ourselves did not you tell me bar I'm giving one example con 201 2014 let's start thiss training academy 2014 11 lakh 45,000 students had applied for upsc exam initial nobody gave me a figure of 10,000 let's start doing that and lot of people did that effort with little effort till then till 20145 only 2 I don't I don't I don't disagree with your larger points but I think there are but there is some some some there is some Merit and why I'm telling you this because Shah will have the closing word we have to start closing now zenup zenup Zen sh yeah first because I want to make a correction Shahid s said that even 16% is very Less in a place like muzafar nagar which has 40% Muslims please don't forget when there are funds it's 100% if you're keeping 16% for Muslim that doesn't say that the 50% which is which will be used for the infrastructure or development of an area will not be used by Muslims so if Ghana is power 400 for every farmer that is also for a Muslim so if you're keeping an extra 16 person that is obviously a Philip that is obviously something extra that you're doing you know for uh you know the minorities and this is not just for Muslim that is for all minorities in that area so you can't just say it's only 16% that's wrong so um and the second thing that I wanted to say when it comes to uh you know uh talim and all these things I have to say say for example when someone like U atar Amir Khan I was forgetting his name when he becomes a number two in upsc that time you know why isn't there oh how come a Muslim became you know number two rank in upsc so I think generalizations like this saying that you know Muslims are not made to come up in um educational institutions you know and educational institutions are being attacked based on you know uh Muslims you know being catering to only Muslim you have to understand AMU as a place is also very political just like jnu is jnu doesn't cater to any religion but still there was a lot of politics that was played around JMU just like it is played around AMU so to only look at it from the prism of religion I think is flawed okay and besides that in my opinion you know when it comes to Muslims joining the political system you know we uh we tend to focus a lot on the big leadership roles but we forget that there are a lot of roles on ground grassroot level CER level and even the district level you know in which Muslims are playing a very significant part we just fail to see it in media we just fail to talk about it and and therefore we oh the Muslim is invisible from politics in India I don't think that is the case especially in utar Pradesh and if you even see Kerala you see Tamil Nadu you see Karnataka you know I mean it'll be wrong if I don't take these St names of these states hyra Telangana you know Andra Pradesh there are so many Muslims at the ground level who are part of the political system so if you're only looking at Big leaders then I mean you're really making politics like you know you're just making it like a black and white you're not seeing the other colors that come with it okay I think please go ahead and I'll let sh sidik close you are not AUD you try and make your point I'll summarize go ahead you make your point I'll summarize go ahead sorry I'm so sorry even I even I'm not able to tell what you're saying my apologies for that but shik I'll give you the last word I want to come back to the original point the Muslim vote let me say and I've been saying this for decades that there's nothing like a Muslim vote it's a myth Muslims have voted along with other the majority of the voters in every state in 1977 Muslims were voting in North India against Congress in in in South India with Congress in in as the changes took place as new leadership emerged in Bihar and up samajwadi party others Hindus were also voting for them Muslims were also voting for a karuri takur or a mulam Singh or a maati and in Bengal with CPM and when CPM went down May m Muslims voted with her so to this talk about Muslim vote I think is again a you know dog whistling saying that they are a w bank they are all sheep they have no mind AR but aren't legitimate but sh sadiki aren't there legitimate questions to be raised about representation Muslim voter I'm coming I'm coming I'm I'm coming to that I'm coming to that yes Muslim Muslims have you see as as minority mus I've always raised this question that Muslims have been denied the represent their representation in most political parties in the country secular or so-called not secular but BJP has made it a crime to even talk of a Muslim representative and and if there's a Muslim candidate in a constituency they go Whole Hog attacking him as a Muslim not as a member of the party they don't attack samajwadi party or they don't attack Congress they attack the the the uh person as a Muslim the party as a Muslim and try to mobilize it such a way that every party the whole environment is so you know negative about Muslims that it has become I I agree with Zer that they have been marginalized politically they have been marginalized and they have no option and they have realized that they have no option but to but to work in in the social field in the education field and I have been saying the same to them and but at the same time I'll say today they are trying to close down all the madrasas in up all the madrasas in Assam have been closed down People Like Us are working day and night to modernize madas to bring and madasa M are today very keen very very keen to have modern education in the madrasas those madrasas can be turned into best institutions of Education like churches have been done what are St suas or St zavas or St stens they were they were mother Christian msas who were turned into modern institutions and I believe that the same Muslims should be doing the same and we are working for it day and night but but every step hurdles are being created the idea is to push them into the ghetto then they say you are in a ghetto first you push them into a ghetto first you make them insecure and when they go into the ghetto they say look they are GH they are ghetto people they don't come out they don't that is the problem I was going to close but I saw your hand go up don't go ahead no what where I'm coming from and that's politics Poli let's do that and the best J is J for Education okay I think on that last note we can all agree though there can be disagreements on the enabling environment needed to actually uh launch a mass movement for Education uh in communities that have typically you know being socioeconomically backward we have the such a report that's another politically contested uh report so that for another time uh I will say thank you sry and to zenov thank you so much and the debate continues the jury is out it is election season there'll be more noise and less light but we have tried to shine a light in this program and we look forward to more such civil but always robust debates in our democracy in our argumentative Indians culture which I think can never go away thank you very much uh everybody and to our audience thank you and see you tomorrow Mojo story has always
