reacted to popular monster which i really liked a lot that was great um this is an orchestral rock version of the song the drug in me is you now howie behind the scenes producer editor fact finder [ __ ] i call him an [ __ ] all the time but he's not an [ __ ] he's a great guy i actually really love how and we did meet in person and he's going to show you the video right now i'm filming the meeting so we can show everybody guys this is howie he's got his yarmulke on but it's actually a mess we've never met before he's my favorite person i've never met but now we've met in person i can't give him a hug because i could but it's the whole kobe thing now i believe he's actually real howie thinks like ronnie sounds like uh brendan urie from panic at the disco okay let's check it out let's see if he's right i don't know let's go it's a snowy night in december the piano is outside which is weird and there's a woman oh man i opened it to find that staring in my face [Music] this guy has a really beautiful voice voice the voice of an angel wow i hear the same influences certainly as brandon yuri and uh but he sounds like himself this is a great song [Music] go i guys this coffin [Music] just in case [Music] wonderful productions and shivers down my spine adrenaline kicks in your secrets certainly freddie mercury influenced snake every single time you roll with crooked eyes i felt the darkness [Music] great melody you know when you hear a voice and you think that this human being should be doing what they're doing this is what this guy should be doing with his life it's really moving the voice is uh it's really attractive like meaning it draws me in it draws it do it it does exactly what he wants it to do and the melody is fantastic and he must be freezing out there snake guys every single time you roll with crooked eyes i felt the darkness as it tried to pull me down great range [Music] he's a good piano player you guys i lost my goddamn mind it happens all the time i can't believe i'm actually meant to be here trying to consume the drug in me [Music] [Music] i want to say something about song production album production i want to talk about compression for a minute not to get geeky but there's a lot of compression on his voice meaning that the short version of that is there's his voice there's no dynamic range meaning the compressor takes the high points the high peaks and lowers them and makes it all more even and so the voice sounds really forward and in your face all the breaths all of the all of the lines every word sounds as equally present as the as the last and if you would look at his the vocal that he recorded there's probably a lot of peaks and valleys there definitely are so what you're hearing is compression used in this case as a as an effect so we can really get every note and his voice is just coming right at us and i'm so high on mystery can't you see i've got these questions always running through my head so many things that i would like to understand if we are born to die and we all die to live then what's the point of a living life if it just contradicts i felt the darkness as it tried to pull me down the kind of dark that haunts a 100 year old house i wrestle with my thoughts i shook the handle down running from my pasta [Music] it happens all the time i can't believe i'm actually meant to be [Music] trying to control the dragon oh my god [Music] this is a gorgeous song with a gorgeous voice and a gorgeous melody and this song is really the one that's making me a fan at this point i love the other song the popular monster song was a freaking jam but this is uh it's a much different color palette here and he his voice is super angelic and um and soulful and then he gets into the more uh that more angsty thing and he does it so seamlessly great control and if you notice too his vocal technique is phenomenal he's using his mouth to make sure that all of the words are coming out and in tune and uh and you can understand every word he's singing [Music] i'd love to hear a live performance of him doing this just he and a piano can we find that howie [Music] um [Music] me [Music] i can't believe i'm actually meant to be here trying [Music] misery so that was totally unexpected and really really awesome you knew that was in there when you have a vehicle like music to express what's going on in there that is so special that is a gift that's been given to me in my life i treasure it every single day and i'm guessing that he does too because he does it so well his music is really expressing what is going on and he found the way to write songs to play his instrument to form a band to write lyrics to write produce and perform music that really expresses what's going on it's honest and true and that's why it's so powerful i love it love love is the word here [Music] [Music] town huh very anthemic [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] that's so good how he did that he's a player this dude can do everything that's my review i'll do it again when you guys put in capital letters you must do this song and i and it happens hundreds of times i know it's gonna be good i trust you guys now you guys that was my one of my favorite songs that i've heard and reacted to since i've been doing this the channel came up in june 2020 that's one of my favorites i will remember that one i thank you for
