Multiple Sclerosis Doctors Appointment & Lunch Date w/ Demi and Tom

all right good morning good morning everyone it is what is it wednesday september 15th uh we are on our way where are we going we are going to my big neurology doctor's appointment we're headed down in the city of pittsburgh at upmc we're going uh to see my neurologist and my whole neuro team and we're doing a big checkup on me okay demi how are you feeling about this what's going on in your mind and in your body like what are your this is like interview style yeah i'm i'm interviewing um i'm nervous honestly i have a lot of nerves with this today um a lot of anxiety i full transparency did not sleep well last night i think i finally fell asleep around like 2 a.m and i did not sleep very well i'm nervous i mean there's a lot of things that could happen today good bad all the things in between so i'm really just nervous to see what the doctors are going to say but also excited um because as of right now my treatment for my multiple sclerosis is um a daily shot called capacitor i take my shot every single day and hopefully things have been going well we get to go down to three days per week which would be amazing because shots and needles aren't fun and we would want to do that every single day you are a trooper about it you do it every day get it done um yeah well i am cautiously i'm optimistic that's how i would put it i'm always i mean that's just kind of how i am but i hope things go well we get some good news and we will keep you updated though uh as the day goes right yeah so tom tom is in charge of filming today which is going to be the whole adventure in itself but because i'm the patient i'm obviously not going to be able to film things so i'm not sure exactly what this appointment is going to entail but we will try to document everything i know i'll have some cognitive and some fine and gross motor skill testing just to see how my body is and how my brain is i don't think i have any mris or scans today um but yeah we'll kind of keep you posted throughout the whole thing once we get to the hospital and with my team and the waiting room all that fun stuff we will be recording everything and anything right babe yeah and we'll do it all together i'm here for you thank you we'll figure it out but yeah we'll keep you updated we love you talk to you soon yeah see you soon all right we are approaching the beautiful city of pittsburgh this is the skyline uh then what's the name of the hospital we're going to join upmc upmc which is actually right there that's the steel building now but yep we're going to the hospital we are almost there we will keep you updated as we go but i just wanted to show you a little bit of the city see where we are going those are the bridges how many bridges does pittsburgh happen about a million okay yeah just uh that's my very factual knowledge of the city all right bye all right we just got to the hospital and parked the car obviously we're in the parking garage it was kind of packed huh yeah um but we're about to walk to the elevators and head into the hospital so i guess we're starting my promise now and funny story tom's brother and sister are here oh yeah they had a baby two days ago they i think they're still here maybe we'll see him maybe ah all right we are on the fourth floor heading into the multiple sclerosis care center so ready um i had a questionnaire to fill out before my appointment to review how my symptoms have been recently kelly there were parts of the appointment that we couldn't film but this was a response to some of my reflexes as well as my cognitive skills but a lot of things we weren't able to record just due to hipaa good how about this one more on that one more on that side okay how about through the shoe can you feel the buzzing okay how about this one can you feel the buzzing okay good you're right and left hand for me with your right pointer finger touch my elbow touch my other thumb go back and forth with the same hand all right so we are just leaving my appointment it was actually a lot shorter than i thought it was going to be but it's 1 30. we've been here for what two hours 11 21. we've been here for two hours not so bad we've been in hospital for like 25 hours well i was admitted i was there for a long time but um overall um kind of inconclusive i have to get some mris done which are going to be scheduled in the next couple of weeks and um yeah so the plan is i've got to get my mris and then i have a follow-up appointment and then from there we're going to make some decisions um i think the biggest thing that we kind of realized is my cognitive has kind of decreased a little bit and um we have to kind of look at the mri scans to see what's going on what did you think yeah no i thought uh i think we'll be more conclusive when we get the mri it's kind of what i'm looking forward to next steps next steps so this is a little shorter of a video than we wanted to give you but it's hard to do everything and then i got blood work but you don't want to see that so we did it but now we're the car we must have deleted a clip by accident but tom and i decided to grab some lunch and make a day of this appointment what did you get babe i got this miso soup bok choy eggs pork all the good stuff that looks delicious [Music] taste test thank you thank you so much this looks so good and we got some pork buns i love a steamed bun i think i'm gonna have four fun first this is gonna be hot it's good [Music] but it's so good all right first bite [Music] it's fun [Music] [Music] hot okay [Music] [Music] so we stopped to get ice cream because we're just making a day of this we're just gonna make a day of it we're just making a day though have a day we'll make a doctor's appointment day a fun day yeah what kind of ice cream did you get i got pistachio pistachio yeah i threw a little curveball we almost got hit by a car because i wasn't looking yeah what'd you get i got you got rainbows sprinkles like they're like you're five years old i love them i got wild berry crunch it's raspberry and blueberry with graham crackers yeah yeah that's a five-year-old order but i respect it i like it i think it's delicious you like it i like it and i got pistachio that's like an old man order do you want i am an old oh yeah you did post that um it's about to rain so we're gonna make it back to our car finish ice cream and then our adventure is over uh-oh i'm melting my ice cream everywhere all right signing off toodaloo you
