That was AMAZING. I used to hand-cut stencils for spraying, and it never occurred to me how easy this would be with my Cricut. Time for some new wall art!

[Music] hey guys today we could paint what we'll be doing is creating some graffiti style stencils which you can use with any image or any portrait or creating some of your own awesome hard work so with my scruffy t-star stencils if you look at your Torres online they use Photoshop but I've got a much easier and better way for you to do it if you got online and jump onto a website called stencil creator all what this does is makes some really awesome stencils for you and it's really easy to use if you just click the Create new stencil button here you can upload a picture of your choice for this project I'll be doing Albert Einstein as my son really likes him and be a great piece of artwork in his bedroom so let's get started let's upload that and see what it creates for us mages and looking at these four I think I'll go with the first one as it's got quite a lot of definition and detail around it so let's click next step and then you can when you get into here you can see it grieves you have a whole bunch of other inputs for you where you can adjust your image and change it so you know along the top here you have a whole bunch of other color options for this video I'm gonna stick with black and white to keep it simple the only thing I will play with is maybe the number of stencil layers so right now we've got four different colors I think I'll try five and see what that looks like so click number five and refresh and the great thing about this thenso creatives you can actually upload any image and see you and use it to create some amazing and unique artwork so I definitely think the five layer looks a little bit better the only thing I will do is maybe adjust this smoothness down here as it does look a little bit too jagged II so I'll maybe try adjusting that to 20 and see if that helps a little bit yeah it's definitely helped a little bit now that I've done that I'm pretty happy with this so we've got our base black our highlight white and three different tones of gray which I'm pretty sure I've already got the paint for that so let's go with that and then let's go the next step once we click Next it starts applying the filters I'm organizing our layers for us and also creating the stencils which is pretty cool you it's finished creating all our stencils for us it actually creates a preview before we download them so here you can see I've got my base my first Ansel and the great thing is it also tells me which color to paint it's over here we got a white dark gray mid gray and light gray and our stencil two three and four so let's download these and then we can load them up in our Cricut software and start cutting them out okay now I'll start loading them up in our Cricut design software let me just extract that and the Hardy thing is if you look in this folder it also generates SVG's and PNG files for you to load into the software which is really happy okay so let's open up our cricut software start a new project and start lower loading up our stencils so let's click the upload upload image and then we'll just go to our desktop and load our first layer so I go to layer one and let's load that SVG so we hit save and insert image and if you pull this up to the top corner and make this the full size of our cutting mat so pull this down to 12 inches so once we've got this in it down to 12 inches I think what we need to do on each layer is create a little bit of a locator so when we start painting them and applying the different layers we have something to reference on each layer to make sure that they all line up correctly let's delete this background layer as we won't need that anymore and then let's add a little bit of text so that we can ensure that we have something to reference when we apply each stencil and make sure that they line up properly so I'm just going to add this little plus here and 10 inches and 11 inches and I'll make sure I remember that and apply that to each layer that I'm cutting so probably add one here and maybe one in the top corner as well at the one inch and one inch area and then what I'll do is I'll take all my layers and then I will weld them together so I just creates one easy cut layer and that way they the file is smaller and I can just go and start making my first layer and I'll repeat these steps for each layer to ensure that they're all consistent and when I start painting them they line up perfectly and we get a nice image at the end so our first ones ready to go let's start cutting the material I'll be using today is just a thick sort of paper that I pulled out of an old sketchbook it's probably around 200 GSM but because I'm only using these stencils once I'm not using anything too elaborate just some simple paper which should do the job but the thicker mother material for these stencils the better especially when it comes to the really detailed layers like layer four and five as you'll see you later so let's load that ups which on machine on and start cutting you [Music] and here we have it our stencil is done [Music] here we have our stencil number two and here we have stencil number three [Music] Spencer were number four now that we've cut out our stencils it's time for my favorite part the painting now I'll be painting on our canvas which I've already painted black and you can see everybody got some paint on my stencils that's because I already did one but the footage was all blurry so after do it again for this I'll be using some spray paint so I've got my three different Gray's here and white as well now you don't necessarily have to use spray paint I'm just using spray paint because I like the effect and it gives a bit of a graffiti style to it you can always use a roll up or even a paintbrush if you prefer so let's get started with our layer number one [Music] and there we go there's our Albert Einstein portrait Aldo just come in with a bit of black just to clean up a bit of this overspray and you can get rid of the X's and the crosses now because you don't really need them anymore and that's it you're done
