[Music] hi George my luck in here we've decided to do something a wee bit different today so we're on the banks of the River T where we're going to have a little bit of a dig around in the mud [Music] [Music] pottery beats and also a small piece of Scottish Aggie I can't be sure but I think well just seen as a piece of born fire glass and they the shadow has just come over the Sun and I'm not sure if I can see again cute little negative one forgotten and the fire finished funny shape looks like a Marvel deceiving little thing I think the horse went up a massive piece of milk glass milk glass I think it was popular you know where well I think some of these were tales for countertops and shops wait relate the tales so this is probably I know this is slightly bent so I'm not really sure that's either well I don't know maybe a big container it's kind of awkward to sheep so maybe it was gonna have molten it's bit sharp so I think we'll leave this this here to kind of finish off in the sea it's probably really probably really old but it's quite sharp and it's not really been in the sea so we've been buried between the rocks for a long time and only just kind of come to shore it's sick so it definitely it's old mm-hmm support all right yeah I know you have seen a very shiny piece of the rim of an old interesting like in the old chair yeah it's really nicely formed and really well protected as well it's one of the maze and things with things that we find in this Beach or call it a beach is that they're all really well preserved looks like a key G there or C maybe shake so Nicole's find something over here you'll see what it is an energising is the matter it looks like it might have been the surrounding of a door handle and you see it it's just okay there we go now we can see it nice and clear awesome you can see it still has a piece of paint on it and stuff yeah yeah that's really smart don't think there's any writing on it as far as I can see no narrator no it looks like well what would you if you think it's copper brass yeah brass door handles doorknobs mm-hmm yep that's nice no she was what these updates oh do you see these things [Applause] that may be part of a very heavy think nice the underside metal to do ah oh that's cool okay yeah yeah but that would be that's so you've just found something at your feet they're on a bit of plastic okay the reason I think that might be part of a bridge has to do with the fact that we are just within sight of the new te reo bridge there's a bit of a story to be told about the old T rail bridge will be have a look at that when we get back to the house I think you just found a large piece of mayor over finding a lot of mail today yeah that's of course it's we're not the seaside so I wonder yeah they're really cool pieces they just remind me of the kind of old mail fences that used to have in British seaside all right yeah the kind of thing that we still see in Blackpool today yeah I think that's a very some rocks there so we won't be taken out croc can I find a kill piece of driftwood that way nice I don't know what it's like it's an intriguing sheep some really old glass when it's covered in Augie really thick I think and I think this is part of the same kinds of structures more steampunk stuff no idea what has obviously something to do with that industry at least electricity well that's a really nice gonna pendant piece a couple of pieces of blue looks like the top of a jar oh that's really cute as well and the texture it looks slightly lavender in color just probably it was white and then the sunlight changed the manganese content in the white glass and there's no turn slightly lavender so for this weepy Safari kind of burgundy color connector see we're interesting this I think I've seen a piece over an old dream job but I'm guessing it's probably not no I'm not sure it's quite a pretty piece of pottery though looks like an old piece Johnny quick thick ceramic make a ball hit the bonfire it looks a bit like a smaller done today at the banks of the river T we're gonna head home and we're gonna take a look at what happened in 1879 on the Rio bridge over there we'll see you there it's been around a year since the last time that we actually visited that part of the T and it's been really interesting to look at the claims things that we found today it's quite different to the things that we found before we had always phoned mail objects and this part of the tear though findable appeared to be Victorian mayoral works also maybe think about the incredible engineering feats of the 1800s not least so the Tyrael bridge that stood by in this short distance from where we were today that real bridge that we see today especially the second real bridge to span the T I remember the first one a book about haunted places when I was just a child the original bridge disbanded he only stood for 18 months before tragedy struck on a winter's night in 1879 Sunday the 20th of December 1879 started off as a calm winter's day at least according to reports given by the ferry boat captain that day by early evening a strong westerly wind had picked up that was stripping slaves of the rooftops in a civil of 19 and it was blowing hard across the river take by 7:13 p.m. when the Adam Romeo train arrived at the signals of warmer on the south shore of the tea the winds had become savage the train bound for Dundee on the other side of the bridge left warm and signals traveling slowly for the signalman watch the red tea ladies disappear into the darkness with no sign of the train approaching Dundee station the same woman walked and crawled his way along the bridge as he reached the midpoint of the bridge he saw the large section had fallen and had taken the train and his passengers diving into the icy waters of the cave with it several vessels went on and searched but they failed to find any survivors from the 72 passengers and crew knowing to be aboard since then many have reported seeing a light coming across the team before vanishing suddenly into the ninety and others have reported hearing the sounds of screen is coming from the tea each year on the 20th of December if you find yourself in Dundee today you can take a walk towards the Victorian rail bridge that stands there on the path you will see a memorial commemorating the event I've just described and you'll also see the place where the first branch touched shore at Dundee if the tide is low you can even still see the foundations of the central pillars where the bridge fell into the teeth that meant between Christmas and New Year and 1879 [Music] thanks to everybody who's watched this video and especially to everyone who's subscribed to the channel it means a great
