MSI MPG 271QRX 360 HZ Review - The Best 27 Inch 1440p Monitor QD -OLED Money Can Buy

all right slide client the tech dad welcome back everyone we're back with another video for you I'm really really excited to share with you today's topic that's the MSI MPG 271 qrx QD OLED display and this thing is amazing two things run off the top it's a buy all day long do yourself a favor and this is the biggest advice that I can give any person that I've actually given in the last like two or 3 months in regard to Tech if you're in the market for a QD OLED display at 1440p 360 HZ or just your budget is at $800 just buy it right away like you don't even got to watch the rest of my video I mean I appreciate if you would because we're going to talk about some interesting and fun things about it but that's all you really need to know just go out and buy it buy it right now because the waiting list is very very long the second thing that I wanted to mention too is from me my perspective I am not this is not going to be like a commercial it's not going to be detailed in terms of what the gamers are and the the lighting I think that know that's for the space for someone that's pretty bit a little bit more technical than myself to be able to share that with you but the one thing I do have going for me that I want to make sure you all know I currently own five different OLED displays in my home I know what I see I know the comparisons to each one so I'm going to be able to give you a perspective from that that standpoint and we'll have fun fun too so you know next thing that we're going to really talk about we're going to get into is the fact that we're going to talk about a variety of different things when it comes to this piano cuz there there's a lot to it obviously we're going to talk about gaming performance and if you're someone that does handheld gaming or you're someone that you know uses your your handheld dock to a display and this is the best you're going to get really I mean let's this this is the best you're going to get I mean I'm just going to let you know right now so we'll talk about the gaming and how that works and I might even show you a couple of videos of me uh doing a couple things on it we're going to talk about what I like about it we're also going to talk about what I dis dislike about it things that I think that could be improved in the next uh iteration of what they have and lastly we're going to talk about you can now actually use hook a a 4K Blu-ray player up to this monitor play your 4K disc and down sample it to 1440p now if you're a physical movie collector like myself we have not been able to do that you know some people like to watch their physical Blu-ray movies at their desk I am one of them but you know at the same time you know if that's something you're interested in like we we'll have a little bit of information on that for you too so kick back relax I'm going to tell you again you're wasting time pre-order this device and let's get this video started so this is my setup this is how I've been using this MSI qrx 27inch display and on the right side at the bottom you'll see my trusty GPD win Mini Works fabulously with this with this setup here had some Bose desktop speakers below and then I have the RTX 49 he's sitting behind the panel gets enough room so it can breathe but this setup has worked perfectly for me so far and I'd be a little little bit of remiss if I didn't mention the fact that this glossy panel I mean the glossiness of it and I was a skeptical of glossy panels I was always into matte panels for any monitor that I bought in the past but this has changed my mind completely and it's just just look look at those strawberries look like they want to jump off the screen there all right let's kick off the gaming segment of this video with nothing other than ghost of sushima first of all this game just looks outstanding in general and they did a great job with the with the Trans over to pcing our home but this is pretty much self-explanatory and I'm just glad I'm able to share it with you now keep in mind now this will be downscaled once it gets to YouTube I'm filming this directly from my Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra phone but man it looks it looks gorgeous to me we are at sunai against an army fighting to slow The Invasion today and just so you know too another another thing is we're in HDR we're running on high settings and just the the inky blacks and the Reds and the shadow quality this monitor really really does a great job at that courage especially this scene here hon this guy's pretty badass they are what make us we are the Warriors of sushima we are Samurai [Music] go break their Spirits so let's look at another game that's certainly demo worthy we got cyberpunk here we have high settings and we have raate tracing going too so as you can see look at the reflections on the ground here this MSI MPG 271 qrx display really does a trick in this also a game I recently beat this year so pretty happy about that let show you this as well when you get a glimpse of what the scope looks like and everything around it it just really the separation of color and the blacks from outside of the scope just look phenomenal as you can see here so the next topic I want to discuss is OLED buron now OLED Vernon is one of the biggest deterrents that people have when they're doing their research and thinking about potentially Place uh purchasing an OLED piano and I I get it there there are countless videos out there talking about buron there are people who put videos out there doing tests but I'm going to tell you I'm going to give you the biggest advice not only on this MSI qrx panel but any ol panel don't be a dope don't leave it on if you get up to go to the bathroom turn your screen off if you want if you go downstairs to the kitchen you you pick up something out of the fridge because we all know going to the bathroom going in the fridge going to do an errand sometimes it takes a little bit longer than we expected next thing you know you have your monitor on for 15 minutes or a half hour because your your mom your spouse your you know your wife asks you or your husband asks you to do to to go walk the dog you forget that the monitor is on next thing you know you're you're treating it poorly so that's the biggest advice I can give you and the reason why I feel confident in this advice I just want to break it down a layman's terms with you because there's so many technical aspects that people try to share with you and I'm just telling folks folks just treat it treat it well you know be proactive be proactive in turning it off and you know and trust me I'm a dope all the time I'll go I'll go downstairs and I'll open up a cabinet and then 10 minutes later my wife is looking at me and she's saying again you're leaving the cabinet open but it also goes hand in hand because sometimes I I'll come in the house from a long days long days work and I'll look at the TV my old screen in the living room and there's a static image on the on the screen I'm like the same look she's giving me when leaving the cabinets open I'm like what is going on um so it goes hand in hand but like I said you know I think everyone Falls in that category of you know sometimes being a little bit careless about how you take your certain things or just particular Ed etiquette in general but if you want your piano to last and I have five of them the main thing that you need to do is be proactive turn it off don't leave it on follow the manufacturer's instructions if it pops up on the screen and in this MSI one I believe it's three to 3 to 4 hours it actually requests that you do the panel refresh do it don't wait you'll have your your beautiful monitor like I have my my other my five of them for for years to come all right one of the things I'm really excited about this monitor is the fact that you can play 4K movies from a 4K Blu-ray player now you might say okay what's the big deal about that well the fact of the matter is we haven't as physical media collectors been able to use monitors like this that have OLED uh technology to be able to watch our movies well now we have it here with this MSI display now it doesn't actually show 4K content what it does is it down scales it to 1440p but it still utilizes the hdr10 on it and I'm telling you as you can see here it looks fantastic and if you are physical media collector and you're someone that actually likes to sit at your desk and watch a movie with your Blu-ray player hooked up to it look no further here it is in all its Glory okay so I'm going to talk to you a little bit about as promise so some of the things that I don't necessarily like about the monitor but I think what will do is it'll take the opportunity to kind of take a little walk around you know I actually I like the fact that you know this has the ability to go up and down pretty functional that way tilts up tilts in if that's what your preference is also too if I swing the monitor around here I'll give you a little glimpse of the back side now these are pretty much standard uh mounting the Visa FAA mounting bracket but I'm actually using the stand not not mounting it at all and one of the best functions that it has is the ability to swivel this way and it's a really really neat Fe feature however if we zoom in here underneath here this is actually the worst part about this whole experience in this monitor when I say that it's difficult and challenging to get these in here it's it's very challenging and not because they don't fit it's because it's they're just really really awkward every time I need to plug something into these ports here I need to go underneath use my cell phone as a flashlight usually takes me at least a minute to find the one that I want and it's it's just a pain in the but to get there so as you can see here we have the the headphone jack we have the HDMI 2.1 ports that we talked about we also have the 1.4a display port we have the USB C Port here too with the 90 W power delivery we'll talk a little bit about that later also too here is the usbb to a port which utilizes the built-in and Messi software and then we have two USB USB a USB 2.0 ports and uh yeah they work great you know my only beef is where these things are so we also have the power adapter cable here too and that's pretty standard across the board but you know overall you know solid solid display solid stand I mean it's nothing flashy at all it does have some RGB going on in the back that lights up that you can control within that MSI software but overall No Frills and doesn't stand out in a in a weird gamer way so you can certainly use this display as an office setup and utilize it with your your um your day-to-day work activities so as you can see the list of things that I dislike about the display are very very short you know all I really have is the fact that you know the port placement underneath the monitor is tough to get to but you know with that being said let's talk about some of the awesome things about it and you know you've been hearing me talk about you know the colors and things of that nature the display is just something I really the only thing that I've seen that's that's very similar to this is the Alienware aw 3424 DW display that I have as well it's the ultra wide it's actually the first generation of the QD OLED displays and um that's the only thing that that's close this this one's a tad better it's not dramat dramatically better but in terms of appearance this one's a tad better so I have to say this MSI MPG display is the at 27 in 1440p it's one of the best displays I've ever ever had the pleasure of of using and and owning to be quite honest with you I think my favorite of all time though is the LG C2 which I have um uh in this office too right behind where I'm I'm filming the camera but not not too close behind is this this MSI monitor but also one of the things I really really like about it too is the USBC Port underneath the display and that offers 90 wat power to it which is a game changer because when I use my GPD win mini or any type of laptop I can get power directly from that and when I first got it because there was an option to get um the another model the the m model of this particular display the thing about that why I did this because it was only $50 more but also it actually had the capability of firmware updates and also this 90 wat power delivery that was missing on that mag model of the MSI so I decided to go with with this one instead and I do not regret it one bit I never thought that I was going to need to charge my cell phone while I'm you know in the middle of gaming or hooking my my GPD window mini or laptop up to it while I'm in use for it it it's it's really a game Cher and if you would tell me that so the difference was $50 if you had told me now that I need to pay an extra1 150 to have that I would certainly get it so the fact that we get it just for a $50 upgrade it is wonderful the other thing too you know we we talked about this already you know the fact that you can use a 4K Blu-ray play with it too first of its kind as far as I'm concerned if you've heard different you know let me know about it and just the overall General usage of it you know I was very pleased with the MSI intelligence software that came with it it's very intuitive I did my first firmware update to I believe it's uh firmware 010 uh it actually came box with uh z u 0.09 I think so it went up a number but it was pretty seamless I had no problems with it at all no issues so I like the fact that the the the ability to to do the firmware updates is is easy and seamless too and um I'm just ecstatic about it I mean this monitor is phenomenal so you know I I want to make sure I mentioned too you know if you like what I'm doing and you like the contact that I'm bringing please give me a like And subscribe I know some of my stuff
