Mrs Wills Kindergarten class tour 2013

hello this is didi welcome to my classroom I'm going to give you a little tour and walking in from the door I turn this direction you can see my student cubbies it's my file cabinet where I keep all of my materials these are some buckets that I had storage inside I have one or two months worth of materials and I brought them down one day and discovered that my kids like to sit on them so we made some cushions to match that'll be my fine motor table when I'm not using them they go up above my cubbies over the summer my fabulous mother made curtains for me so those cover up my read aloud books that I want to keep away until that particular month comes out so I have them covered up before there was kind of ugly you can see my before and after pictures that's the pocket chart that's where will reconstruct poems throughout the year I have going to try not to make you sick you can see I have a little area there where I can hang the poems and then they take them out and put them in order here is our Writing Center I'll back up a little bit so you can see it and I don't have any papers in there yex we haven't started school yet but there's my writing station for August and September again that's where my storage units are this is where i'll have my words of the week and my letters of the week I don't have my pocket charts put up there but we've also do a sort and poetry station down below you see those green papers hanging below that's what we'll hang our published writing there's my word wall yay Erica Bohr made these great circles and I love them and there I have my color words and Cheryl south made those I love those this is where I put my anchor charts for reading so I have my student desks I was working on getting the journals organized work in progress and that's where my math stations are going to be kept and this is my math station area the bins are empty but I'm ready to fill them I'll fill those up tomorrow and this is all my math manipulatives the labels are all askew so I'm going to pretend like they look perfect but they don't there is my palm tree Deanna jump has those directions on her blog I'll try to put a link in there let's see what else I want to show you will show you the library over here is our library those are all of my student books and those pillows I made last summer and they were directions on my blog I'll try to link that also so you can take a look at those know how to do that so this is my library up here is the banner I had it from last year because our open house isn't until tomorrow and I wouldn't be able to get the banner app so I sent the pieces home and parents are bringing their each each child gets a letter and they bring it back during open house and then I can make the banner so I put last year's up there just so that it wouldn't look naked and then I'll just replace the letters as they come in um Abby Mullins has that super cute banner in her store this is my teaching oh those are my reading strategy cards I'll try to get those in my fan freebie bucket in the next couple of days it's just something that is our language from our school so I'm not selling them but you can go ahead and get those if you're not opposed to green um this is my small group area and then my desk behind there nothing really super fancy and my mom Kevin my mom is like an angel but she covered my chair for me because it was nasty ugly so let's see there's my there's my desk area down there and the purple bucket that's where I keep all my assessments so each child has a folder I'll talk about these bins in a couple of days when we talk about organizing for instruction there is my calendar area all of my good numbers are in there on the wall there's a naked spot right there I don't know what happened to my clock it's somewhere it's in a safe place I hope I find it before Wednesday because we'll be getting ready to go down below I do have my books ready for the first day school we have our name poem ready excited overhead station is ready we have a specialist class called exploration so those are ready these are my literacy station buckets and there's my work board no pictures yet because I haven't seen my little sweet baby yet right when you come in the door let's see what I want to show you I want to show you up above I have something says ready for the hall which I thought was kind of fun I put box tape on there and looks a little tacky but it'll work for kindergarten and then this is where I keep all of my games for rainy day I just keep them my hair by the door in little plastic bins and that way the boxes don't get demolished let me go this is my classroom I hope you enjoy it have a great year
