Motorola Moto Edge (2024) Unboxing & First Impressions!

in today's video we're going to be taking a look at the new Motorola MOTO Edge 2024 Edition stay tuned all right everyone hopefully guys are having a good day hopefully everyone is safe out there I just picked up this device yesterday uh I picked this up at Best Buy for $549 after tax this device is going to be on the dot in California $599 so basically $600 $ after tax on this device and with that we get 8 GB of RAM we get a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 inside of here we also get a 5,000 mAh battery 68 wat charging in this device as well and 15 wat wireless charging on this device as well however there is going to be no charger that is provided inside of this box with this phone as far as the display as well we have a ped display 1300 nits Peak brightness and instead of 120 HZ refresh rate we're going to be getting 144 htz as far as our update policy on this device we're going to have two operating system updates and 3 years of security patches and Android 14 out of the box as far as our IP rating we do have an ip68 water and dust resistance so that's nice to see on here and as far as our glass protection it's nothing special it's going to be Corning Gorilla Glass 3 without further Ado let's go ahead and unbox this device all right so let's go ahead and open this up with the phone on top right here we're going to go ahead and put that to the to the side and take a look at what else we have inside of here and inside this box we have our USB type-c to type-c data cable we have our quick start guide and legal and safety information and last but not least we have our Sim ejector tool right here all right everybody so let's slide this phone out of its little plastic protector right here this phone actually looks pretty nice this is the midnight blue color a lot of people aren't going to be able to tell the difference between this and black but this definitely has a nice look to it it definitely looks elegant I feel like it looks pretty sexy to be quite honest of course first and foremost we have that little emblem in the middle for Motorola it's kind of like a darker blue or a darker Indigo so it's definitely matching that midnight blue it looks really good and we have this faux or vegan leather or Eco leather cuz so many people have an issue with me saying vegan leather obviously I know this wasn't made out of an animal I don't know how many people said that but yeah back of this is basically like a rubber material super grippy definitely nice feeling in the hand I really really do like this it's super thin super lightweight but also it feels pretty substantial at the same time as far as the cameras go we have a dual camera setup our main one is going to be a 50 megap wide camera and our secondary is going to be a 13 megapixel Ultra wide and we can record up to 4K at 60 frames per second and that is our top resolution we also have our LED flash right there as well right side of the phone we have our power button and just below that we actually do have weirdly placed a noise cancelling mic and of course above both of those we have our volume up and down rocker spaced of course and these buttons are going to be very very tactile and clicky at the top of our phone we have absolutely nothing but our noise cancelling mic right here and the left side of the phone we actually do have something right here and this is going to be called our quick button you can basically toggle applications uh to either a single press or an action for a double press for it to do something so really cool if you guys use an application a lot of the time and you just want to press that as a shortcut maybe for it to open up your camera or use it as your shutter button we'll take a look at that in a second but I thought that was a really cool thing that they did on this phone and of course the bottom of the phone we have our speaker this is going to be utilizing of course the headset so we are going to have dual speakers on this phone we have another noise cancelling mic and to the left of that we have our USB type-c port and of course to the left of that we have our SIM tray and with the SIM tray we cannot expand our storage via micro SD card however we do have a full 256 GB of storage on this phone so very very Ample Storage the other thing is if you guys want to use eim on this phone eim is going to be compatible with this device as well but I'm going to go ahead and boot up this phone really quick and I'll let you guys know if anything interesting pops up but of course we're going to have kind of like that 1.5d display on this device that waterfall effect um so you're going to be able to use Edge lighting and things of that nature so we'll check that out in a second all right everyone so I actually did just set up my fingerprint sensor on this device we are going to have an indisplay fingerprint sensor inside of here so nice to see that not the craziest in the world but we can go ahead and tap it boom and it should open the phone also we have facial recognition on this phone as well so we're going to go ahead and take a look at this boom swipe up very very quick as well so nice to see that we have that for our security features on here of course our front-facing camera is going to be hitway at the top just below the headset right here and we're going to be capable of 32 megapixels with a wideangle mode on this as well and as far as the cameras go we'll give you a little bit of a tour in this video right here but um we're not going to show too much until the full review and the full camera review as well so so far looks pretty good pretty stock Android type of setup right here we have all of our toggles right here in the drop down menu we have our Bluetooth our auto rotate device controls we also have Smart Connect and Moto unplug so if you guys do want to um cast something to a screen you guys can actually do this for work so if you guys want to use this for productivity or entertainment that is going to be a cool thing to use going on we have our hotspot we have a native screen recorder and screenshot we have our Quick Share we have our GIF maker as well right there we have NFC in this device so if you guys want to use that for payments at checkout you guys can use that we have our screencast our QR code but so far very very smooth refresh rate right here as I said before 144 Hertz um I am recording this video at 1080p 30 frames per second so it's not going to give it justice honestly I would definitely check this device out at Best Buy if you're thinking about buying it because it's going to look much much better and as far as the display goes I did actually have to set the 144 htz refresh rate up it's not going to be on automatically it's actually going to be on auto for smart optimization up to 120 HZ and if you guys wanted to for whatever reason you can lower it to 120 or 60 HZ as well now as far as our Moto folder right here that we get um obviously we have our Moto setup folder it was kind of giving me this when I booted up the phone for the first time and basically with personalize um you guys can actually change your themes you can change your wallpaper your fonts right here your icon shapes the colors or the color way of your applications and phones and how it functions so that's a really cool thing that you guys can do you can also change the fingerprint animation on here as well so there's so many customizable options on here so if you guys do get this device I would definitely go into the Moto folder and go ahead and set this up straight away we also have something called Edge lighting which is really cool as well and basically when you get notifications or you have an alarm set right here it is going to show you when it's faed down on the side of this display since it's kind of has that waterfall effect or that edge lighting effect it's going to show you the color that you guys put on here so of course we have a ton of different colors to choose from I thought that was a cool feature as well we can set this up on dark mode that's probably something that I want to do I usually have my phones on dark mode we also have gestures on here and if you guys aren't familiar with Motorola this is kind of their whole stick they have a bunch of different uh quick launch features like whether it's your camera you go ahead and do that twist it opens up the camera or you chop of course for flashlight um you guys can set a bunch of different gestures on here to open up a bunch of different um applications and features of the phone so this is something I would check out when you guys set up this phone it's kind of the reason why people get a Motorola phone um I'd say that uh the cheaper price tag and of course the stock Android type of look as well without being a Google device but as far as like a little bit of a tour of this camera section right here of course we have our video up to 4K at 60 frames per second we have our slow motion uh we have your portrait mode your PR mode if you guys want to change your ISO or your white balance or your aperture we have our scan which is basically scanning a document we have spot color night vision Panorama Ultra reses which say you utilize the full 50 megapixels out of the main camera inside this device we have dual capture for video and for photo as well and um yeah going to go ah and take a quick photo see how this looks I don't think Motorola is the best in the game especially at the $600 price tag but I think most people are going to be able to get by um with this camera right here and as I said right here we do have a little bit of computing processing power or whatever um but this looks decent it definitely looks super natural and it's super clear as well so I feel like this is going to be a decent camera for the majority of people out there again I am going to do a full review on this camera so definitely subscribe and stay tuned for that but we're looking good so far we're looking good in studio lighting I also did want to go ahead and check out that quick button right here so if you actually press this quick button or hold it down it's going to take you to the quick button menu right here and you guys have two different options you have double press to open or you have single press to open so for a double press to open you can actually turn this off if you don't want to use it but we can actually choose an application to open up when we do hold down this button for a second and the one that I have it set for is calculator so we're going to go and test this out we're going to hold this down for a second boom opens up the calculator definitely like how that looks and of course we have the double press option as well let's go hold this down go back into the menu and for a double press we actually do have the option of uh basically performing a task so the first one is going to be streaming an app so it opens foreground app upon PC our second is file transfer copy and edit phone files on PC we have our mirror phone webcam and Smart Connect right there as well so those are the options we have for double press and we also have the walkie-talkie function on here so if you guys do have a subscription with teams um you guys can actually use this with other people that have a Motorola device so that's really cool to see um I feel like a decent amount of people are going to use that still a cool future though definitely something that iPhone has so it's nice that they brought it to a mold Rola device all right guys so next thing I want to go and do is test out the video on this phone we have a 4K 60 Fram per second video on here and of course this has some pretty decent colors on this device and um some decent sharpness and fluidity as well so let's take a look at this video on this phone [Music] [Music] all right everybody so the video looked great uh we have some great colors on here some decent saturation the blacks are pretty deep the rest of the colors look pretty great so um I feel like for a $549 price tag this is a beautiful display all right guys last but not least we're going to take a look at those stereo speakers on this device and see how they sound [Music] thinkning you out heart [Music] all right everyone so as far as these speakers go they are very very loud as far as like the quality and stuff we have some pretty clear speakers on here I don't really have any tin on these speakers so far I feel like for the majority of the sound and the bass and everything it sounds pretty decent it sounds very similar to a flagship device maybe not anything like the Galaxy s24 or anything that great but honestly it's pretty close so it's pretty up there I would definitely say it's comparable to some Flagship devices from a few years back so decent speaker on here decent base decent sound I don't really have any complaints with it all right everybody so that was my unboxing and first impressions on the new Motorola MOTO Edge 2024 Edition honestly so far I definitely feel like there's a lot going on with this device we have of course a beautiful display on this that P LED display 144 HZ refresh rate a very bright display at that too 1300 nits we have an ip68 water and dust resistance 256 GB of internal storage 8 GB of RAM not the greatest processor in the world but a decent one with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 4K 60 frame per second recording on this device 5,000 Milah battery of course we don't get a charger in the box but we get some decent charging rates with the 68 W charging rate wired and we have the 15 W wireless charging rate on this device as well with this of course we get all the other Motorola features and we get this great form factor in this beautiful looking and feeling phone all in all definitely like this device so far I am really excited to see what this device looks like as far as the video goes and um we'll definitely have some more videos on the channel soon also that quick button was kind of a cool feature as well uh shout out to Motorola for actually putting that on a phone but yeah that was my unboxing and first impressions on this device for $54 $9 I definitely think this is an alternative to a lot of other devices of course the OnePlus 12r being first in mind um we also had the pixel 8A that just recently came out at a $500 price tag as well so that's very close but let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below I am impressed so far with what Motorola did I think they come a long way from what they've created Kudos Motorola for making something pretty cool I definitely like the way this phone looks so far um and it's definitely an alternative to the 1200
