hi welcome to motorcycle tours to Spain top tips today packing going to do a full packing video for you it's something we've been asked for a few times and I've been meaning to get done so here it is now this is what I take when I go away you can obviously adapt it and adjust it to suit what you want to take with you but this is going to be everything that I take on tour going to start off with my clothes and what I put in the top box when I pack my top box I do it in two parts Mars I have a ferry bag which I want on top so when I'm on the ferry I can just whip that out now already in my Ferry bag I've got a set of trainers they're in plastic bags and I've got a sweatshirt now when I go on tour whether it's for a long weekend um or two weeks or even three weeks I always take the same amount of stuff I only pack enough clothes for four days and I'll explain how I manage that in a minute now I'm wearing what I would wear on tour so I've got socks on I've got trousers on I've got a bass layer t-shirt and underwear so that leaves three sets to pack I'm only going to pack one set of socks and underwear in the fairy bag the others go in the top box three spare t-shirts put one on the fairy bag the other two in the top box spare base layers depending what time of year it is depends on how many base layers I take with me I'm wearing one let's say we go early or late season I might take a spare pair they go in the top box the trousers I take are not dirt jeans I find them too heavy too bulky and definitely too hot when we go over there so I like these cotton trousers with the zip off legs so I can turn them into shorts if I want to and I'll take two pairs of those I may ride in them as trousers or I might ride in them as shorts it really depends on the weather and that's my spare pair that goes in the to the top box I'm might take a uh smart shirt wear that on the ferry it might not be too warm on the ferry so I've got a rugby shirt I'll put that in it as well flip flops I don't need my flip-flops on the ferry so they're going into the top box travel towel don't need that on the ferry that's going into the top box razor I'll need that and I need to be able to charge it that goes in the ferry bag couple of travel plugs so when I'm on the ferry I can supercharge everything my razors my power pack my cardo they go into the ferry bag I have here a bag of spare charging leads um that I'll go in the top box I don't need that on the ferry spare pair of glasses or contacts don't forget those that goes into the top box I've got a little emergency sewing kit there in case a button pops off that goes into the top box a small a small bottle of shower gel that'll last me two weeks and we're not in the middle of nowhere I can always buy some more if I run out don't need that on the ferry that goes in there toothbrush toothpaste in there a multi-tool Leatherman that goes in the top box comb not that I use it very often cotton buds sunation small bottle underarm tweezers nail clippers any medication I've just got some painkillers in there and some uh hay fever tablets and a couple of nail files I might need those on the ferry so they go in there that fairy bag then goes on top of my other stuff in my top box and it's not busting full that's level but there is a bit of a recess at the Top If I wanted to put something else in there and that's the top box done when I get to the ferry open her up bag out covered that in another video and I'll put a link to that down below so we now need to do the rest of the kit right I've just moved the boxes about a little bit I've got my top box there which is now packed one of my Piers is already packed and that's got the tent and sleeping bag in it that's all that fits in that paa which leaves this one you don't have to take it I always take a stove with me I like the Coleman's multifuel stove the reason why I take that is because I do like a cup of coffee in the morning and sometimes I'm awake at silly o'cl before the the cafe at the campsite selling the coffee or is even open so I've got my little plastic cups and sweeteners and these all-in-one coffees excellent lots of different flavors I've already got 20 of those scattered around the bottom of the top box so we'll add that to it let's not forget the lighters to light the stove with then I put my pillows in I've got a an air pillow and a nice fluffy pillow let's get those in there my bed old habits toilet roll baby whites my Kettle doesn't go in here that goes on top of my top box and I secure that down with a cargo net stool I always carry some pedal bin liners just so if I'm at the campsite I hate leaving rubbish got to walk up to this to the public bin so I'll have a little bag with me make a rubbish bag in the corner of the tent and that's just just then I carry a collapsible bucket and you're thinking what the hell does he carry that for is to do some washing in now I'm not going to have enough gear to do a full load of washing and I don't want to do a full load I hav't got the time or the inclination to stand by a washing machine but in the evening every couple of nights every two or three nights when I'm having my shower uh I'll fill that up and I'll add a laundry detergent sheet and they come there's loads of different brands they come like that now I don't take a full bag with me what I do is I'll take them out cut them in half and put them in a little ziplock bag like that so I'll just take half a sheet out and they dissolve really easily stick them in there with some shower water put my Smalls my t-shirt in there squid it up while I'm having a shower rinse it out from and it's dry the next day every every tour we do there's going to be at least one campsite where we're there for consecutive nights sometimes two nights sometimes three nights even on the Portugal tour where we're heading down into Portugal the Pyrenees where we're heading All the Way East at least one campsite Midway through we're there for two sometimes three nights and that's plenty of time to do a little bit of washing hanging up and it's always dry perfect so that's got to go in there with my laundry sheets the last thing that goes in there is my waterproofs I put these in last so they're always on top and they're always handy the mount paa is not busting either there's still space at the top the other thing I'll take with me is a picnic blanket it's just comfort that doesn't go inside anything that joins the kettle on the top box underneath that elastic cargo net the only thing left is what goes in my tank bag this is my little tank bag I find I don't need a big one this suits me just great little zip on this side I just get that uh baby wipes and few plastic bags for some rubbish in there this little zip on this side's got a shoulder strap and I'll put some euros in there as well if we open it up um I've got a phone pocket there which I don't keep phone in that what I've got in there are glasses wipes just buy these from any Supermarket they're really cool really handy and cheap as chips in the lid in this ZIP I keep all my personal documents I've not got them in there now and I've keep them in a seasick back because a seasick bag is waterproof so uh passport driving license Ferry tickets breakdown tickets that kind of stuff ghic card will be in there and that's in the lid nice and safe and also doubly protected and dry cuz it's in a seasick bag now when I'm riding uh I have my stuff in here I need to charge and there's a hole in this tank bag here that I can plug into my USB ports on my bike I'm lucky I've got four USB ports so these are all the cables to keep stuff charged like my phone like my power pack super useful that means that overnight when we've stopped I've got power supply with those three USBs for my cardo my torch more GoPro batteries that kind of stuff rechargeable torch GoPro batteries dis lock we've seen this before this is my little cable lock at my uh neck what you call these um buff is that a buff twing gum lipol and some more uh some more glasses wipes oh and a spare lighter that's the tank bag that's about it that's almost everything I pack I do have two small crash bar bags on the bike and they permanently stay on the bike on one side I've got a first aid kit on the other side I carry extra tools I've got selection of tools in there as a mechanic I'd like to take a trailer with me and fill it full of stuff but I can't so I've got some basic tools there I've got a compressor and I've got a punct repair kit for tubist tires I can can sometimes not always depending how bad it is f a punct if you got it in a tubist time it's tubed that's a different matter Al together because we've got to remove wheels and we got to take tires off and we'll have to call the breakdown services to cover that one I've got gaffet tape in there I've got wire tires in there um latex gloves so I don't get much one thing I would suggest is that if you're traveling try and make sure your tool kit has got the ability to slacken off your rear spindle so we can do chain adjustment um not all manufacturers toolkits Supply that so have a quick look and if you haven't it's worth carrying that with you now I can't carry and guarantee to have all the tools to be able to tightens everybody's chain I just just don't got the space so um even if you aren't a mechanic it's worth making sure you can slacking your back wheel off so even if you can't adjust your chain somebody else might be able to and about it guys thanks for watching ride safe catch you later
