[Music] [Applause] hi this is Picasso with the biker protocol Channel and I'm here again with Hollywood today today's video is going to be all about the differences between MC's and RC's I get asked this question an awful lot in the biker Community from people that really don't know much or maybe they just see us on rides and they have questions about patches and uh we're going to do another vide you know about specifically about patches on on Cuts or colors or Rags or vests or whatever anybody wants to call them but many names many names right so but we do get asked this question I don't know if you do I I get asked this question quite a bit what's difference between MC um a lot of times when we get like uh just people interested in hanging out or just riding along with us uh we we kind of give that explanation from the start if they don't know you know RC MCA or MC and um and just understanding that it's like a grow process I guess you know RC is there's not a lot of rules and restrictions and it gets you you know your your feet wet or however you want to call it right uh into the the community and um we kind of just take it from there and you know with experience of riding around showing them what what the differences are I mean kind of like going off on a tangent a little bit Yeah well no but I mean like like so like RC's are and it's kind of like what you're saying it's kind of like for people that want to kind of dip their feet get their feet wet a little bit into more the the biker community so to speak than people that just ride casually um you know I think the most uh the most prominent RC people are familiar with is like the hog group right because they're sponsored by a lot of the just motorcycle uh company clubs there's the Indian writers and right um there used to be the victory writers no longer exist that's all anyway but that's that's all true so you know I think um you know most people don't really understand the Dynamics and we're going to do it like a a whole video on patches and colors and everything we'll explain all of that but but a lot of with the RC Community it is more of like casual riders that want to get together um some Prospect although most RC's I've seen don't and and if they do prospect it's like a a week long couple rides and then something and then you buy your patches and you're in right so a lot of times RC people are those that just like want to go on ride once in a while they get to know faces every once in a while in the group and stuff but you know and there are some very big RC's I I know some in Vegas here that are quite large um I I I I don't know if this is dating the the the video but uh 2020 I called it the RC r RC year cuz there was a lot of them that a lot of them but I mean everybody's out riding so why not get together and a lot of them turned into MC's and and that's the process we can talk about as well yeah a lot of the thing with with RC's it's more about the individual writers whereas with MC's it's more about the family and so when you look at people start putting on MC patches it's when they're starting to take things up another level and there are different types of MC's again we're going to talk about that in another video there's 1% clubs there's three patch two patch and so forth um all of those make a difference and the more you understand the dynamic of the different types of MC's it'll start to come together a little bit but with MC's it's more about family and that's why a lot of MC's do prospecting um I know some MC's are a little more formal and a little more casual than others right it's it's kind of like the the level of seriousness that's involved like RC is like maybe weekend riders or just someone that want kind of ride with a group of people whereas MC like you're talking about as family uh you're a lot more connected it's a lot more work so you respect it more and and so forth right and and that's really kind of what it comes down to um RC's are more organizations where the primary also the interest is writing whereas with MC's the primary interest is more family that with the commonality of this we ride motorcycles right and that's that's kind of the difference um a lot of things with RC's is patch members typically don't they don't Prospect um some do I have seen some that do but it's again like you said it's kind of casual you know so I I I don't come from a background of RC's I I joined an MC that was my my first Jo uh jump into the community um so I'm not sure on the familiar familiarity like bylaws we were talking about we were going to do a video on that um but like dues I don't even know honestly if if RC's charge dues um I think some some don't yeah and I I guess you get equated to like something like a I don't know like an Elk Lodge or something like it's it's just a organization to be a part of and I guess yeah you to run it sometimes you need the money so there's dues involved right and I know a lot of times like like I do know obviously for things like patches and things like that they have to buy in and buy those things because there's cost involved um but yeah it kind of depends on the the complexity of the club and you know a lot of those things um and you know also with RC's even though it is more like a casual thing we recommend a lot of times and a lot people are not really completely familiar with this when they start to form an RC is that it's still a good idea to get permission from a dominant Club in the area um anytime you're throwing patches on no matter what um it's always a good idea to contact your local dominant Club we're going to do a video on that too and if you don't know who your dominant Club is maybe you need to rethink about patching up anything right um because we've seen that happen before with some not so good consequences so uh yeah they so the process uh and and maybe you can touch on this little the process so for and maybe this is diving into too deep into it but the process of being starting not starting MC but or RC but joining RC versus MC too there's a there's a little bit of a a difference there a lot a lot more work involved I guess as well yeah so um so if you're joining in RC like I think you hit on it is a lot of it is just mostly finding some people that you like riding with and it could be around a common theme you know the Harley groups or the you know motorcycle groups some of them might have a common theme around um maybe their church maybe it's just a bunch of friends that get together you know I I've seen a lot of RC startup because Five Guys just ride together all the time you know and so they decide well let's let's make a club right and so you know you start they call those popup clubs a lot where it's just you know every weekend there's a new club in town but uh there's a certain element of complexity that sometimes goes into some larger ones because when you're managing a group of 100 plus members you know it can almost sorry to cat up it's almost can be considered like a business too in lot aspects so that's where the seriousness comes comes around with the MC uh versus RC so RC you just kind of hanging out maybe you pay maybe you don't maybe there's bylaws and and even officers um some RC I mean I think most RC's have officers but I don't think they're as strict from what my experence the Sergeant at Arms and an RC is going to be different than a sergeant yeah they're not definitely not going to do the same same type of stuff but um so I guess that that goes along back to what I was saying like the seriousness of it too so the difference between MC and RC would be like how serious do you want to be in a club if you just want to hang out RC maybe and then if you really want to get into it get in the life style the culture MC is probably more of the way to go right and and M when you decided that maybe you found an MC that's right for you um you need to really kind of think this through a little bit I think sometimes people don't understand the seriousness of joining an MC not in the sense of necessarily the formality but it's like it's almost like you're joining a family I mean it almost literally is uh I mean I I talk to our to our members on a daily basis we're always communicating whether it be Facebook cell phone calling all that stuff same here and and quite frankly uh you know I actually have me well have all my club members are they're TI tighter as family to me as some of my actual family members have been um one of the things we actually have I don't know if you could show this we have we wear this on our cuts and it's Latin um and we kind of this is our club motto is uh you know it's uh blood makes relatives uh loyalty makes family and that's kind of our motto because it's there's a lot of Truth to that and so when you're becoming an MC member there reason a lot of MC's Prospect and we're again do a whole video on prospecting but prospecting is something that I think people don't always understand when people hear well I got to be a prospect and I'm 48 years old and I'm too old for that crap but you know there there's so much value to it that that can't really always be explained but it's understood once you've gone through it we've all done it right I have you have and so the the value of it isn't like to be treated like dirt and it's not like a hazing ritual in a fraternity the reason people Prospect is for two well a lot of reasons but the two main reasons is for the club to make sure that the individual going to be the right fit but it's also for the individual make sure that they're going to be the right fit for that group because it's essentially like spending time joining a family and that's why we we have learned I can't speak for black patch but I know for our club we started learning that the longer we Prospect our members the better members they become so that's like a whole video on its own right exactly I mean we could we could talk for hours on on prosp we'll definitely be you know putting something together that uh going back to the the RC thing um so way I've I've seen it uh again I didn't I I didn't join an RC in the beginning but RC's can also be the stepping stone to becoming an MC so it's like weeding out I don't want to say the the weak ones but you know uh the ones that aren't as serious so again going back to the serious aspect of it so the RC is you guys get together want to wear a patch want to feel cool you know and and and you know know not trying to insult any disrespect but um and and then the ones that actually become serious and actually carry before and I've seen it myself with certain RC's where they became an MC and you see those ones that were really into it almost usually the ones that kind of start the RC and they carry it through and then the ones that drop out so it's kind of like that uh that growth stage it's like the the first stepping stone to to well it's all true I so like my road Captain came from the RC World okay and so and he was a road Captain for his RC right and he's amazing yeah and so a lot of the you know that kind of that Stepping Stone comes from people that are they they become RC people and they love it and they love the camaraderie and they love rioting and all that but they just feel like something's missing and it's just something that an RC necessarily may not provide for them and and again I'll probably preach this a lot is it it it definitely goes down to uh I I my personal opinion seriousness of it because you know just like family it's serious you want if you're going to spend your time and effort and time is is all we really got in this world uh is is you go to the MC cuz you want want to want it to be worth something so yeah long story short why I joined uh was I wanted to be part of something bigger you know than myself like I I didn't want to you know RC again and not making fun of it or anything but uh it's kind of just like get together have fun ride motorcycles in my my Outlook uh but I wanted more than that and I think that's where a lot of people go to become an MC 100% agree I I think also it has to do with long-term commitments too so I you know with most people in RC's and that's not always true I mean I see people on rides all the time that have RC patch you know vests on that you can tell they've been wearing that thing for 20 years right totally get it but I think for for but that's kind of a rarity I think for most people when they're joining an RC versus an MC it's um about the commitment right so you're joining a RC it's a more of a casual commitment whereas with an MC it's a lifelong commitment or at least it should be should be yeah definitely should be I 100% agree that you you pi and that that's a good point of joining RC get your feet wet decide if you want to be a commitment somewhere else whether that club becomes an MC or even if you stick with an RC your whole life but uh it it you shouldn't be popping around because that just Waters it down Waters kind of like the Outlook of of you personally if you're just jumping around because then how do we how does the community see that person serious about anything really at that matter oh it's true um and so you know the one thing about MC's is that you know it's more structured right so as opposed to RC's which are more casual MC's are more structured the com ality with MC's is that mic motorcycles is like the commonality but it's really about the family um we've noticed that the title we' our club has gotten we've notice we do less rides which kind of like is a little bummer sometimes but we do more community activities I I'll agree with that too you know it does seem again I'll go back to the seriousness again uh because with the MC there's so much more than just the motorcycle aspect you you know now you have uh the bylaws the the meetings the the events you have to attend the the the Mak face with everyone and sometimes it can feel like it's now no longer about motorcycles but you know it it you kind of it's kind of like meshing two things together I guess like and you know you can't have 100% of two things together correct no you're right and and even down to the roles of your officers are kind of different too I know like our sergeant-at-arms plays a much different role in an MC than it would in an RC yeah um they're much more formal there's a lot of formalities between how clubs have to interact with each other again we we'll do a video on that too but you know how clubs meet each other at a gas station is a little different you know right even even just those little protocols but even RC's you know they they should have a little bit of that knowledge as well because uh you know let's be honest some patches I can't from a couple feet away I can't tell it say RC MC or do like single patches and you can't read yeah no totally so you know someone that might be in you might be in a territory that might not be so friendly if you don't know anything about it they could be unfriendly to you so very true and you know and like we mentioned with RC is that you should definitely get permission from your dominant clubs to form an MC you absolutely have to that that is an absolute requirement and you know you need to get blessings and and we're again do a video on that but but you know when you're meeting with a 1% Club there's a there's protocols involved and so you need to be able to get all that done um also with you know membership in an MC it's going to start usually as a hangaround process then you're going to Prospect and the club will tell you what the prospecting process is right and they kind of it's basically peeling the curtain back a little bit so you can see how they how they're operating yeah and then you become a full patch member so and and kind of uh this is a whole another topic as well I mean there's so many topics subtopics and everything uh RC if say you wanted to start a club RC is probably the best spot because then it also gives the community a way to to view how you guys car yourselves corre and again like going back I think that that's the general process RC then the RC can graduate to MC and then be part of that community and that that world right and and the other last point to make on this is with kind of the difference between MC's and RC's is for lack of a better way to put it RC's patches are generally purchased MC's patches are generally earned yeah that's that's a good definitive you definitely keeping that uh uh distinguishing aspect if there's ever a better way to put it I think that's kind of it right so and that's true I mean one you're earning your patches and and once you go through the process prospecting period and you do learn your cut you know your your vest and your your colors and everything um it's a whole different level of Pride that you have and and it's it's there's a lot of merits of prospecting through a club so yeah on the yeah on the note of the buying the patches that just like the the Hog Riders I mean literally you buy a motorcycle you get a patch I mean oh yeah I I just bought a Harley like a couple months ago and it's like congratulations you're a hog member I was like it really really truly and I was like wow I didn't know I was a member of that okay cool oh yeah they sent me the pin and the oh yeah did they send you patches sign up for yeah uh no patches but I think they once I started paying dues I guess or something they probably give that but yeah I got a road pin and like all they sent me a whole kit I was kind of surprised you to pay dues at the Hog Riders too after buying the motorcycle well I don't no I think they give you like your dudes for a year for free when you buy something like that you know but oh no I got this big box it was pretty funny yeah good example that like you bought a motorcycle they're like welcome to the club welc to the and that I mean that's cool on its own too like if if aside from if you have no interest in being part of the motorcycle club in uh world it's cool to be part of a group of you know like-minded people nothing wrong that and and especially hog perspective right it's smart because it keeps you in the family and their family right and so you buy buy more stuff from them CU yeah why not so but it's all good so uh we hope we covered enough topic enough on this topic um if again you have any questions please mention in the comments we'll be happy to address it uh like and share this video it helps us to build this channel we would really appreciate it so click on the notification down below we're going to do a shot as we do with all the at the
