what's up y'all welcome back to another video my name is miles out of holiday world in dallas texas and today we got in this 2022 keystone avalanche 390 ds i'm sure most of you by now already know this is the most popular fifth wheel in the entire country we're gonna take a look at why it is so dang popular the ds in 390 ds stands for dual suite or double suite so it's gonna be a two full bedroom two full bathroom plus it has an additional loft space that could technically be like a third bedroom with how dang big it is so we're gonna take a look at all that and then i do have a 2021 right behind it so we can look at some of the differences between the 21 and the 22 and we're gonna look at everything about this thing so let's go welcome back to another video y'all if this is your sure i get recognition for the work that i put in to get these videos out to y'all so let's start out with looking at the differences between the 2021 and the 2022 so this is the 2022 that we have right here in front of me and the 2021 is actually right here next to it so you can see the differences in color right away this avalanche and the 2022 went to a blue and silver scheme with the decals the decals also have a you know pretty significantly different design so that's pretty interesting as well to look at and let's see if you can see how like the decals on here i think these looked like a little bit more you know they had more like sharp edges and stuff on those decals where these are a little bit more flowing so it's a pretty interesting change going to the color i definitely didn't expect them to change the colors on this scheme but i think both of them look good so let me know down below in the comments which one you like better do you like the 2021 or the 2022 color scheme better let me know down below and then that's gonna be change number one change number two is going to be just like all other keystone products this year the 2022 is coming with a 200 watt solar panel on the top so you can see it right up there you'll have your 200 watt solar panel keystone is definitely being a leader in the solar solutions out of the factory they are the only brand that i know so far that is coming out with solar panels standard across all of their different lines like i said that is going to be a 200 watt solar panel that it comes with and you're also going to have a solar controller up or a solar charge controller up front over here and in the um up front storage compartment which basically is going to be connected to the battery and it is going to keep track of how charged your battery is and make sure your battery doesn't overcharge since that 200 watt solar panel is basically going to be making sure that your battery stays charged and doesn't run out of a charge with that solar controller that's in the pass-through storage as well it does link to an app where you can monitor all of that from your phone so pretty cool tech wise as well and as far as changes i think the only other change that i'm aware of is going to be inside so i'll point that out when we get in there but we'll go around the exterior here and take a look at everything on the outside one of the first things i like to point out whenever i'm showing this unit one you can see all the windows back here so it's really cool all the windows that you get and then how they achieve this floor plan which is pretty unique to what it is is you can see up front this is something they do on pretty much every well every fifth wheel that would be considered a full profile fifth wheel like this one is they're gonna drop the frame underneath here so you see how the frame comes down below the line of the trailer it's considered like a drop frame construction and you can see it stops right about right there but on this model so usually you see it where they just drop the frame up here that's nothing unique but then you come back here and they actually dropped the frame down below the axles here all the way down to the back of the trailer so that frame is dropped down there that is something to be aware of you can see they tapered it off right here so it's not squared off which i actually i'm curious that that's a change on the 2022 to the 2021 let's go look real quick let's go see okay y'all this is another really exciting change actually that i just noticed see how this just goes straight back so what people were worried about with this floor plan is with this frame being dropped if you're in predicaments where you're like say you're towing and you have to go up a hill they're worried about the tail end of the trailer scraping along the ground this does make the clearance a lot lower but look on the 2022 what they did let's run over there so you saw how that was just squared off they angled off the tail end of this which is gonna help significantly with what people were worried about as far as that hitting the ground if they were in tight predicament so you can see they actually angle it off now so you have more clearance on the 2022 model than you did on the 2021. that is crazy i did not notice that as i was walking around the trailer i literally just noticed that as we were looking there so pretty cool change that they did there i think that was definitely needed because a lot of people have been worried about that bottom end hitting or dragging like if they're pulling it into their driveway or something like that so that is another change that they did that we just figured out and something that makes this particular model really unique is you have the rear entrance so you're gonna have the second rear entrance into the uh second full bathroom and has a really nice text design on here i love the avalanches uh just exterior scheme as far as how they make their trailers look i feel like they always look modern and really clean so i like that you have your 50 amp power supply plug right here on the back end and then we'll keep going around to this side and you have a ladder as well to get up to the roof now looking at this this is also where you start to see the uniqueness of this floor plan this slide here looks real small compared to the other ones but it's sitting underneath the loft up here so that's what kind of makes it work the way that it does and giving you a full second sweep back here try not to get wet from the hose all right come over here where all your water hookups are going to be so you'll have your exterior shower it does come with this coil hose and then you're going to have all your tank valves and it'll have everything here that you need to fill up your city water connection fill up your freshwater tanks your black tank flush and then you'll have key tv which we talked about quite a bunch but or quite a bit across a bunch of the other keystone videos i have but basically what key tv is first of all it's going to be your wiring system for your tvs that go to all your different tvs to give them their own channels if you have a satellite hookup so you can see here you have this blue knob basically right behind here is your satellite cable that is running up to the roof so the wiring job for that cable has already been done by keystone out of the factory so you don't have to pay for the labor of that being done if you do put a satellite on here basically if you did put a satellite on the roof it would just plug in at the roof this cable would plug in right here and then this is going to run to all your different tvs allowing each tv with its own cable box to get its own channels and signal so super easy system that's pretty much everything there and what i really like to point out with how they do this also there's a lot of times where you'll see like your water bay area here and it'll be it'll have like a flip up sort of door that you have to crouch underneath and you have to break your back to get down in there this one here you can see your slide out box is plenty tall it's about six five six six so plenty of room to stand underneath there and there's nothing that you have to bend under to do and work with this comfortably so i really like that i think that's a good thing that avalanche does in making sure that's really easy and accessible this is going to go to your pass-through storage so we'll look at that from the other side when we get to the other side as well you're going to have your two propane bottles here in this compartment so they'll be side by side with one another you'll have two 30 gallon propane bottles and then looking at the specs here you can see the unloaded vehicle weight is 14 520 and i don't think this has the true length on it unless i'm i could be missing it but i don't think it does but it says it in the door so we're gonna go look at that as well and then you'll have your controls for your auto leveling system right here which these are compatible with the smartphone app so i haven't actually tried it yet but you should be able to just do everything that this machine does here with your phone so that's pretty cool too i would love to be able to try that out and actually test out how it works but i have not got to yet but it can do that then coming up under here you're going to have the road armor pin box so the road armor pin box basically the most important thing about this is you're going to have this rubber gasket right here which as you're going down the road this head pivots so that's going to give this head the ability to pivot back and forth this rubber gasket is going to absorb a lot of the shock that your hitch pin here will feel sitting in the hitch as you break and accelerate so it's just going to make the towing a little bit smoother and help absorb some of that shock so it doesn't transfer straight into the unit and shake things around too much and whatnot let's get up underneath here it does have a plastic handle right here that will hold that in place so that will keep it up you're gonna have your power cord here you can see you have a nice dividing wall here to keep your electrical stuff separated from everything going on over on this side so you're gonna have your power cord and then up in here you're going to have like a battery disconnect so you can flip that switch to just kill all the power to your batteries you're going to have this inverter and then you have your solar charge controller up here which basically that solar charge controller is going to be what is running to this solar panel to keep your battery charged and that's just about everything on the outside let's finish going around here you can see you can also add other solar panels here to the outside if you wanted to have like a portable one plugged into the side your battery terminal here will be able to house two batteries in there and on this side you're gonna have the slam latch doors so really high quality slam latch doors also another thing for the 2022s they have these different latches on them now where when this goes in there's a pin that just locked into place there so this door won't move it will stay up and then basically you have to just pull that latch and then it will release it so i like those doors they're definitely going to stay up better than just having a traditional magnet and then again you can see the size of the pass-through storage is really really large and it's going to be a good storage space on the outside i think that's just about it let me make sure i didn't miss anything else all right and the last thing i wanted to point out is you have the road armor suspension that'll work in unison with your road armor pin box to give you the best towing experience but basically the suspension system having the rubber gasket on top and on bottom here is going to give you six inches of travel so it has three inches of travel up and three inches of travel down and those gaskets they're going to absorb a lot of the shock as you're going down the road to make sure things aren't shaking around too much in your rv and things like that so that is pretty much everything on the outside here give you one last final look at the outside before we venture inside and show you everything on the inside so as we head inside one thing i want to point out real quick is we are a priority rv network dealer here at holiday world basically what on the road so that you don't miss time camping that you had scheduled already so huge service benefit that comes with being a holiday world customer and it is no charge is it just part of being a holiday world customer that you automatically become a member of that program where you get front of the line service if you ever have an emergency on the road so that's going to be one of the big reasons we have a 4.9 star rating with over 1100 reviews here at holiday world on that among many other things but as we come inside here you're gonna see it is a beautiful looking floor plan and a beautiful looking design from avalanche very modern but doesn't feel like too farmhousey or anything like that i really really like the look of it let me close the store just so you can get a feel for what it looks like with that door closed so you're gonna have a huge size island kitchen i like that they offset the island here so you can see you're gonna have a a dual basin sink with your one big style sink and then gosh i always forget how oh these things are heavy i always forget how heavy these stone uh little covers are for the sink get that back on there there we go and then you're gonna have your smaller style sink right here but look at all the countertop space that you have next to the sink that's what i really like about how they lay this out and how they give you that offset sink to give you all that countertop space to the right and then same thing with your stove you're gonna have all the space next to it for the countertop space and then in addition to that you have all your countertop space right here for things like your insta pot your air fryer your keurig your coffee pot all that sort of stuff so you also have a ceiling fan in this floor plan as well so you'll have that right up here and then one or two things really that i like to point out about the size of the avalanche because this thing feels humongous when you walk in here there's two reasons why one it is going to be a hundred inch wide body construction so most of your fifth wheels are gonna be 96 inches wide this is a hundred inches wide so that four extra inches of width definitely does make a difference and then your slide out boxes here they're gonna be six foot ten for their height so from the floor to the ceiling is six foot ten which is definitely significantly higher than your average fifth wheel where the average fifth wheel slide out box height is probably about six foot three or six foot five somewhere in that range so it gives you a lot bigger feel as soon as you walk in and definitely is noticeable when you come from a unit that does not have the same build structure as this one does so here you're gonna have your dinette table and this dinette table will expand out so you do have a leaf on there and you do have storage underneath there as well so this will come out just like that expand out for you when you do need that extra table space and then i have had a lot of people talk about this with this floor plan where they wish there was more seating and i do want to point out that you can see you can sit six in here so as it sits right now you can sit six comfortably comfortably not to mention you can put bar stools right here to sit even more so as far as sheer seating capacity this actually maximizes your seating as much as you could ask for i would think now what you can do if you would prefer a sofa here this table is just mounted to the sidewall so it is screwed into the framing back there it would be very easy to take this out and put another piece of furniture right there you could even take this and the recliners out and put a whole new piece of furniture right here if you do want a different seating arrangement so that is something that you can look at doing that would be very easy to do if you don't like this particular seating arrangement however i do feel that the only other option they could have gone with out of the factory is a three cushion sofa right here which would still only give you seating for five whereas with a stable it gives you seating for six so it's a toss-up in the air which is a better combination for what you may want and what you may prefer but just keep in mind this table can come out super easily if you wanted to and you can put a you know sofa here or whatever you want so coming around to the kitchen side you're going to have a really large tv i think this is going to be a 50 inch tv looks about like 48 to 50 inches there so it should be a 50 inch tv and then you'll have your fireplace it will have four different colors on it it does put out heat and then you're gonna have all your sound system controls here for whether you're watching a movie or listening to music or whatever it may be and then this will also link to your outside speakers where you have different zones for that let's start going through the storage in this kitchen space so you have really deep storage up in here next to your microwave you're gonna have more storage all through here all of these storage compartments are pretty deep [Music] keep opening things up here again these are going to be pretty deep down here as well and then you'll have this storage compartment underneath oh you know what wait a minute no way i just realized another thing they added to this unit this was not in a 2021 i know it wasn't you have soft closed cabinets wow i'm actually really surprised by that i did not expect that i literally just noticed that as i was closing these up i bet you the drawers are not soft clothes but the cabinets are and i'm dang near certain that was not in the 2021. so i'll have to go check and confirm that real quick i am in the 2021 it does not have soft closed cabinets so definitely right about that and then i'm going to show you up here as well no additional grab handle so those are definitely two changes in the 2022 model having the soft closed cabinets and that grab handle so i'll show you these these are all going to be the same size storage drawers right here but you have four of them so lots of room to store lots of stuff in this island kitchen you'll have your spot that pulls out for your double trash can here your trash can and recycle bin whichever you feel is most appropriate and then more storage underneath there plus in addition to all that this area here is going to give you so much additional storage these again really deep compartments that you have here you may need a step stool to get to that top one but i tell everybody that's buying a fifth wheel you're probably going to own a step stool as well and then you'll have your two storage compartments here i like how it looks really symmetrical so as far as how they lay this out you can see very symmetrical looking i like when they do that and pay attention to making sure that it's symmetrical because there are some where they just things are just not looking the same on both sides and i appreciate when it actually is done right then you have these pull out drawers going to be about the same size as the one in the island so all kinds of storage throughout this kitchen definitely would feel like you'd have no problem finding storage for everything that you need plus you have a nice wine rack up here so you can use that and huge refrigerator and with the solar panel now on the 2022 because this refrigerator is running off the battery this is going to make sure that your refrigerator is always staying operating with that solar panel help to keep the battery charged and then this will be a tray that just slides back just like that so it's almost like a two two drawer type of freezer when you open that thing up yeah so that's everything in your living area now let's get up into the loft because the loft is probably the most impressive part about this fifth wheel coming up into here you see you have a ladder to get up here and then this brings me to another change for the 2022 that is going to be they added a second grab handle so on the 2021 there was only a grab handle right here but none over here definitely made it feel awkward even for me as like a grown adult it felt a little awkward so being a kid getting up there with two grab handles gonna be a whole lot easier and as we come up here this loft is humongous it is 33 inches tall which i'm gonna get up there in just a second and show you exactly how i fit in this loft space it's gonna come with three of these teddy bear mattresses but you could put whatever you want up here i mean i could see a lot of people getting you know how mattresses nowadays come rolled up and they're really compact i could see a lot of people just getting one of those up here and popping it open and having actually like a full-size mattress so that's something to keep in mind as well but yeah a ginormous space you have tv hookups over here plus this count um like ledge right here that you could put a tv on or other stuff on so really neat space let me go get my equipment so i can get up in here and you can see how i fit in this space up here so all right so the reason i do this is because i want you to see the amount of space that i have in here i'm 6'2 and you can tell i mean six two and look at how much like there's so much room up here it's ridiculous i mean i would this makes me feel like a kid again getting up into the space i could only imagine being someone you know ages like five to 15 like how exciting this space would be for a camping trip but i mean another thing i like to point out i can crawl around on all fours so very easy to get around and it's the biggest loft space i've seen by far there's definitely nothing close to it and it is just massive i mean even if i want to sleep this way i got plenty of room if i want to sleep this way i got plenty of room i mean it's incredible it's got to be nearly 10 feet no not quite 10 feet probably like 8 to 9 feet long i mean it's incredible so i want to get up here play around in it so you can see i mean i could almost sit up straight so yeah this is definitely the most exciting part about this floor plan right here is this loft plus you have all the windows all the way around so one two three four five six letting in all this natural light and it just i mean it just makes you feel like a kid getting up here i love it so want to get up here and show you how i fit in this space and then also wanted to point out you do have two ac ducts up here so you will get your ac flow coming into this space and then you have your tv hookups with your outlets here as well so you will have power up here and again you have your rail up here with all this you know shelf space essentially that you can put stuff on and then your view down into the fifth wheel so really really cool spot i'm sure kids will absolutely love it i mean they have been already every kid that sees this just falls in love with it and then you have blackout shades across all your windows so you can black it out up here and have nice little nap time okay now that we got down from there i want to point out one other thing real quick they did put different light fixtures in the 2022 real small change but you have different light fixtures in here and then nice little decorative pieces those aren't different but they just look nice so i wanted to show them coming into your second suite here this is going to be the step down because you have that drop frame construction and then you're gonna have i believe they actually put different headboards on the 2022 as well so gonna be a different headboard than they had on 2021 this is going to be a queen size bed in here and then you're gonna have all your wardrobe storage over here so it's not going to be quite as elaborate of storage as you'll have in like your master bedroom but still a lot of space these will all be the same size pull out drawers that you have there and let's see yeah these are all the same as well same thing soft closed cabinets on these as well so love to see that you can put a tv here on this wall or you could stand it up right here plus these will be blackout shades so you can make it nice and dark in here when you need to and then you also have two windows on each side of the bed so you can get a crossbreeds there and storage underneath the bed as well so that was something i was surprised to see i actually almost thought that they might have like storage tanks underneath there for water but you actually do get storage space as well and then next to the bed on each side you will have outlets and those actually okay yeah those are just going to be outlets and then you'll have another outlet here as well and underneath here okay that's why because you actually don't have an outlet on this side so the outlet on this side is going to be on this wall so they did think about that even though they didn't for some reason get it fit in in that space so this is in a slide out so this bed here is slid out when it is pushed in it's going to go up to the dresser here so keep that in mind but you can still access this bathroom from the rear door which where this is where you have the second full bath so pretty incredible i know avalanche does this in one other floor plan as well where they have the rear bathroom here they give you a second full bath so it really does make it a true double suite and show you the storage underneath here it's going to go back pretty far and your medicine cabinet storage actually goes all the way through so no division there or anything like that it's all open so lots of space in there you'll have your outlet underneath here as well and just a good looking space so that is your second suite let's go up to the main master suite up here i want to point out as well this is about because it's such a large fifth wheel you have the vent fan here but if you do want to put a third ac on this unit you can um it is wired for that so that is an option that you have if you do want to put a third ac you just won't be able to run all three at the same time but you can have that second ac in the living room to help cool this space down faster if you feel that's needed all of your controls in this panel here you have a nice grab handle as you're coming up the stairs so you do have that assistance coming up and that's going to be a pass-through bathroom for your master bathroom you're going to have a little bit nicer features in your master bathroom as well such as like a single piece fiberglass shower so residential style shower in here really nice looking design as far as just places to put your different soaps and whatnot and then you have your skylight up above to give you all the clearance you need for people in that six five six six height to still be able to stand in there and not hit their head then you're gonna have your black faucets that look really good this again is gonna be like a fiberglass sink [Music] and your medicine cabinet storage plus you have these narrow but deep storage compartments next to your countertop that you can put lots of different stuff in there you can probably even cram towels in there if you want to and then storage compartment underneath here so that's everything for the bathroom then let's go into the bedroom where you're gonna have a king-sized bed in this bedroom same um what's that called headboard is you have on the 22 or on the uh in the other room and lots of storage throughout here so all of these are gonna pull out you're gonna have all these different drawers for storage you have a place for a tv so you can mount a tv on this wall or you can put it on this countertop here or shelf top and plug it in up there you're gonna have all your hookups and then one thing that avalanche does is they give you this bench in the bedroom which is great not only just for putting your shoes and socks on and stuff like that but it's also storage underneath there so you have room to store things that you can keep in there as well but definitely like having the bench in the bedroom and there's plenty of space there to sit down and do whatever you need to do it's gonna have a full wall-to-wall wardrobe so that'll extend all the way across the whole wall and you'll have your washer dryer hookups in here so if you do want to put a washer dryer in here it'll go in this corner of this wardrobe space but what i like about this is with how big this thing is even if you put a washer dryer in here i don't think you would feel like you're lacking space for wardrobe storage regardless so really like that when this is closed you're gonna have a mirror there so it definitely makes this room feel even bigger and you can see what that looks like with it closed up there gives it an even bigger feeling here and then same thing as in the other room you'll have storage under the bed and a very similar nightstand and power type of setup you're gonna have no power on the in this compartment here but you have these little storage uh cubbies and then you're gonna have your outlet underneath the bed there and then on this side same thing as in the other bedroom your power will be in replacement of that little cubby spot there you do have whisper quiet ac in here so that's when you see these rectangular returns that basically means that this ac is going to sound pretty much just like your ac at home it's going to be very quiet the ac is actually up in the attic space so you don't see it protruding into your living area which is why it's so much quieter so you will have that on here as well and obviously you have your own thermostat controls in here with that ac system that is up above your bedroom you have a dimmer switch also let me point that out before we go back so you can see you can dim the lights if you want a different mood lighting in here so that's also nice that they added that as well but i believe that's just about it um we'll go one last quick little walk through around here and show you everything but i think i touched on just about everything that y'all would want to know or want to see so
