Filipino telenovelas often feature the "anak-mayaman" or rich kids. We see them as the "queen bees" or mini socialites in their fictional international schools, which are, of course, exclusive to other rich kids like them. Take, for example, Senior High by ABS-CBN, featuring Northford High. Or for fans of western series, there's Gossip Girl, showcasing the lives of the high school It Girls and socialites of Upper East Side Manhattan, Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen. But all of that isn't just fiction or something you see in telenovelas or series. There is a real-life school exclusive for the sons and daughters of the rich and famous. Dubbed as the school of the rich aunties or rich titas of Manila. It's no surprise because one of the core focuses of education at Poveda is social graces and etiquettes, which are essential for our titas. Aside from social graces, Poveda high school offers elective subjects in Digital Arts, Robotics, Biochemistry, Applied Voice, and Malikhaing Pagsulat (Creative Writing). Poveda is also academically competitive.
The tuition fee of around 130,000 to 160,000 pesos per year is worth it due to its Advanced Placement Program, where students can take university or college level courses in subjects like World History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Literature and Composition, English Language and Composition, Statistics, and Calculus. So if you're a high schooler watching this now and at this early stage of life you want to become one of the Rich Titas and enjoy snacks at Mary Grace or breakfast at Manila Pen with your future amigas, then convince your parents to send you to Saint Pedro Poveda College. Another all-girls Catholic school made it to our list of the most expensive high schools in the Philippines. Yes, our 9th most expensive high school in the Philippines is Assumption College San Lorenzo in Makati City. Assumption College, also known as AC, is an all-girls Catholic school in Makati. When Assumption was first established in Ermita in the 1940s, it became the go-to school for the Manila elites for their unica hija due to its similarity to elite high schools in Europe. The Neo-Gothic architecture of the campus on Calle Heran in Ermita also attracted the Manila elites. Up to this day, Assumption College remains a school for the elites. Aside from its proximity to exclusive subdivisions in Makati, such as Dasma and Forbes, many members of the alta sociedad (high society) study at Assumption. And why not? Only the elites can afford the hefty price of an Assumption education. The middle school program at Assumption starts at 179,000 pesos and goes up to 183,000 pesos. Meanwhile, the total school fees for the senior high school program range from 215,000 to 380,000 pesos Assumption is known as the school of Filipina politicians and socialites because it instills class and refinement in its students. Two presidents of the Philippines were educated in the halls of Assumption College. Of course, our two female presidents are former presidents Corazon Aquino and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Other notable alumni include senators Loren Legarda and Grace Poe, former senator Jambi Madrigal, and former DENR secretary Gina Lopez. As a school for socialites and celebrities, its alumni roster includes Isabel Preysler, first wife of renowned Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, celebrity doctor Dr. Vicki Belo, Isabelle Daza, Georgina Wilson, Ella del Rosario, and Bianca Manalo. We've probably thought at some point that when it comes to education, Montessori schools are often mentioned for their higher quality of education, hence their higher cost. And that is true for our 8th most expensive high school in the Philippines, OB Montessori Center. OB Montessori Center, or Operation Brotherhood Montessori Center, is the pioneer Montessori school established in the Philippines in 1966. The school's teaching philosophy is based on Dr. Maria Montessori of Italy. OB Montessori offers advanced subjects in accountancy and business management for their junior and and senior high school programs. Because of this, OB Montessori alumni include many successful company executives. However, they also have a fair share of celebrity and high-profile graduates. The one and only Lea Salonga is a product of OB Montessori. Currently, OB has five campuses in Luzon: in Angeles, Fairview, Greenhills, Las Piñas, and Sta. Ana. For 170,000 pesos per year, you can experience real Montessori education from OBMC. Every school we have featured so far offers college-level advanced courses to prepare students for university or college. BUT! What better way to prepare oneself than by experiencing it? And that is what our 7th most expensive high school in the Philippines offers. None other than De La Salle University Senior High School. One of the BIG 3 universities in the Philippines, DLSU is renowned for its reputable college programs. Experiencing it early on in high school certainly gives any La Sallian high schooler an edge when they reach college. The instructors at DLSU High School are all veteran college professors. Like other senior high schools, DLSU offers programs for ABM, HUMMS, STEM, Sports Track, and Arts and Design Track. Senior high school La Sallians not only have access to college-level educators and programs but also to the facilities of La Salle University. This includes the very Instagrammable Henry Sy Building of La Salle. As for tuition and other fees? Prepare around 190,000 to 195,000 pesos per year. We are only at the 7th spot on our list of the most expensive high schools, but we are already entering new territory. Because starting from our 6th spot, international schools will take center stage. And before the international schools take center stage, make sure you are subscribed to the new offering from The Competitive Investor Channel! If you like videos or content like this but with more impact and more power, check out and subscribe to The Universalis Channel! It will bring you powerful English documentaries about politics, business, and famous personalities! The first international school on our list is Southville International School and Colleges. From 200,000 pesos per year, we will jump to 390,000 to 450,000 pesos per year. Why is it this expensive? This is for the IB Diploma or International Baccalaureate Diploma offered by the school. The IB Program is offered by schools for students who want to study at universities abroad. Typically, graduates with an IB Diploma pursue their college education at competitive schools abroad, such as Ivy League Schools. Additionally, IB Diploma students are required to study an additional 6 subjects and a curriculum core. Southville International School and Colleges is one of 21 schools in the entire Philippines that offers the IB Diploma. Southville International School and Colleges also offers a regular high school program. Tuition fees start from 185,000 to 198,000 pesos. As an international school, Southville follows the National Curriculum of the United Kingdom for its subjects in Math, Applied Science, and Social Living. One of the advantages of Southville International School is its research-based curriculum. So, a university thesis? That might be easy if you are a graduate of Southville International School. For the schools we mentioned earlier, their alumni include politicians and socialites. At Southville, you will get to brush elbows with their celebrity ambassadors like Going Bulilit child star Nash Aguas and Mika dela Cruz Other celebrity ambassadors of Southville include Liza Soberano, Julia Montes, Gabbi Garcia, Khalil Ramos, and Heaven Paralejo. Entering our top 5 schools, starting off with Reedley International School in Pasig City. While the schools we've mentioned earlier base their educational programs on US or UK standards, Reedley International School combines the curricula of Singapore, the US, and the Philippines. For Science and Math subjects, Reedley follows the Singaporean Curriculum. For English Language Arts, it uses the Common Core Standard of the US. For Social Studies, Reedley uses the AERO Common Core Plus Standards of the US. Reedley also maintains a strictly small class size, adding to its exclusivity. Each high school class can only enroll 27-30 students. How much is Reedley International School? Tuition fees start at 313,000 pesos. One product of Reedley's well-rounded education is the twins of Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villaroel, Cassy and Mavy Villaroel. The twins pursued business in college before following in the footsteps of their showbiz royalty parents. As a country with the oldest Chinatown in the world and with a significant portion of our population being Chinoys, Chinese-based establishments are not new to us, including schools. Topping our 4th most expensive school in the Philippines is the Chinese International School in Taguig. Established in 2007, Chinese International School Manila (CISM) is one of the most prestigious schools in Taguig. Mandarin and English are the primary languages at CISM. For students who plan to continue their studies here in the Philippines, they have the option to study Filipino subjects. For senior high school, CISM offers the IB Program curriculum. As a Chinese school, CISM naturally excels in Mathematics and related subjects. Surprisingly, it also offers a well-rounded education with an American Core Curriculum and facilities and studios like a drama studio, library, and design technology area. If you are not Chinoy, don't be intimidated. You can definitely enroll at CISM, just prepare 558,000 to 579,000 pesos for your tuition fee! And finally, first on our big three. Just as the collegiate level has its BIG 3, which are the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, and De La Salle University Manila, of course, we also have our big three in high schools. And they are even more leveled up! Because not only do they offer optimum education, they are also quite expensive! First up! On our top 3 is Brent International School Manila. So far, the schools included in our list are nestled within the Metro. After all, where would be the homes of these rich kid students but in the exclusive subdivisions of Makati, Taguig, and Quezon City? But in our top 3, we have Brent International School in Biñan City, Laguna. Students at Brent don't see skyscrapers, business districts, or commercial complexes, but the lush greenery of the south. And, of all the international schools we’ve featured so far, BRENT is the only religious school with a focus on Episcopal philosophy. Besides focusing on spiritual life, Brent also provides a competitive academic environment through a Western Education Format. As a member of the Asia-Pacific Activities Conference (APAC), Brent students can join international competitions in East Asia. That’s why Brent graduates are admitted to prestigious universities abroad, such as Keio University, Kyoto University, Nanyang Technological University, University of Melbourne, Duke University, Columbia University, and many more. Given Brent's combined spiritual and competitive education, it's no surprise that it's the long-time school of the children of the national boxing champion Manny Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee, known devoted Christians. Michael, Jimuel, Princess, and Queenie all attended Brent. Currently, only Princess and Queenie are still in school, with Queenie expected to graduate from Brent in 2026. The new Kapamilya heartthrob Donnie Pangilinan is also proudly from Brent. And if boxing royalty doesn't appeal to you, perhaps the conglomerate daughter of the Elizalde clan, Isabel Elizalde, will. Before pursuing her college degree at Wake Forest University, Isabel Elizalde completed her IB Diploma at Brent. To be in the same study halls as the daughters of the Pambansang Kamao, prepare to shell out no less than 1 million pesos. Aaannnddd... on our second most expensive high school in the Philippines is the British School Manila. As the name suggests, the school's curriculum is adapted from England. Specifically, BSM teaches the National Curriculum of England and Edexcel and Cambridge GCSE courses. Due to this, BSM boasts a 100% IB Diploma passing rate on their website. The facilities at the British School Manila are also top-notch. They have an 8-lane, 25-meter swimming pool, a multipurpose field, math rooms, science laboratories, two cafeterias, and a building dedicated to Creative Arts. This building houses drama and dance spaces, dance and music studios, a climbing wall, an open-air auditorium, and a multipurpose theatre space. With all these labs and facilities, you might think BSM has a large student population. In fact, each class or section has a maximum of 18-22 students. Currently, BSM has a total student population of only 955 across all grade levels. Unlike the previously mentioned schools, which have a large population of celebrities' and socialites' children, or even celebrities themselves, BSM's student population mostly consists of expatriates, diplomats' children, and multinational executives' children. According to the school's website, they have students from over 50 different nationalities enrolled. At present, only Lorin Gutierrez, the daughter of actress, beauty queen, and socialite Ruffa Gutierrez, is known to have studied at BSM. For just 1.2 million pesos, you can experience British education in the comforts of the Philippines. ON OUR NUMBER 1 SPOT! Clutch your pearls and stay seated because this will truly wow you not just with the tuition fee but also with the high-profile alumni and student list. Compared to the British School Manila, ISM has a larger campus, and therefore, a larger student population. According to the school's website, they currently have a student population of 2,413 from preschool to grade school. To cater to these students, the school offers various facilities such as a 400-meter all-weather track and 3 playing fields, a sports hall, 8 tennis courts, 3 fully air-conditioned gymnasiums, 3 libraries with over 80,000 books, a 920-seat fine and performing arts theater, a design technology and robotics suite, a music wing, a fully equipped film lab, and a specialized learning support center. High schoolers can experience these facilities starting at 1.5 million pesos for tuition fees. And who might your classmates be at ISM? As the oldest international school in the metro, many high-profile students have walked the halls of ISM. ISM is also the first school in the whole of Asia to offer the IB Diploma Program. Among them are the one and only Mega Star Sharon Cuneta and her daughter KC Concepcion. According to the vlogs of socialite-turned-influencer Small Laude, her only daughter Allison Laude is also a graduate of ISM. The conglomerate daughters Kayla Uytengsu of Alaska Milk Corporation and Alicia Aboitiz of Aboitiz Group also completed their IB Diploma at ISM. As we close this video, let's be reminded that education transcends monetary figures. Expensive or not, education is important and should be valued, especially for our Competitive Fam who are still studying. Have we heard from our parents or anyone else the saying, “education is something that can never be stolen” or “education is the only thing we can leave to you”? The ability of education to change lives and shape the future is unmatched. Until next time, Competitive Fam!
