Most Boost The Shopping Go-Kart Has EVER Made!

[Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] guys as you saw we brought the shop and go car out of retirement and we buttoned up a couple things since the last video we redid the fuel system completely we got the regulator remounted kind of down we're out of the way and we redid all the lines we have a proper return going into our tank as well we actually swapped out the fuel pump on this thing too because the one that came with the EFI kit when I first got all that stuff originally the pump was kind of taking a crap on us it was you know cutting in and out there was times it wouldn't even work so we ended up ditching that old fuel pump and we just got one on Amazon that's you know for a car and this is a pretty high performance fuel pump so it should have plenty of fuel to run our single cylinder engine here I'll turn it on real quick you just hear this puppy cranking that is a beefy fuel pump for a shopping go-kart but uh yeah we got that done so the fuel system should be good to go um we had to integrate the oil pump into the fuel pump switch so now the oil pump runs on its own as well you guys saw we got all these lines changed out feeding the turbo oil to an so hopefully we have no more issues with those also the brakes work again because we do not have brakes working last time we drove it so we got those pumped up and working again so I think today we're going to do a little tuning on this thing and see if we can't get her making some boost on the fuel Tech and uh see how it goes hopefully don't blow it up foreign wide open but you can figure out a better product s I wouldn't be surprised if it made like 10 pounds yeah sounded pretty alive oh yeah there's the power eight pounds eight PSI I bet you that's an eight pound gate in there a PSI out of the shop and go-kart and it holds it all the way across well six pounds in the top up six ish six seven pounds going through fourth dude that's pretty sick though that's pretty it's holding it solid and I think it's just so spiky since it's a single cylinder it's probably just oh 97. wrapped her out to almost 10 000. 8.5 pounds of boost oh well one of them was 8.9 it's pretty sick 8.9 pounds was the peak it's so funny because it's a single cylinder so like you can see literally every pulsation of exhaust stroke where it affects the Boost number yep yeah for some people that were asking what is this canister for um it's basically a boost capacitor is what we call it since it's a single cylinder since this engine isn't going to be on a power stroke every single stroke as well as a multiple cylinder engine is always on some sort of Power Stroke um this goes dead in between each stroke since it's only a single cylinder and this basically stores boost into it so the turbo doesn't have to re-spool every stroke there's a calculation to make this the certain size that I did it was in a video a while back it's like over three times the volume of the displacement of the engine and I guess on a single cylinder that's what you need to do to make it work but yeah just a boost capacitor there not bad up top needs some fuel so right there 23 correct when I glanced at it it looked like it wasn't too off just because of how the map jumps but when it jumps up to eight pounds it adds a lot and then when it goes back down to seven pounds it doesn't need it so it's kind of it's gonna be really hard like such a small engine is very difficult to get it smooth dude and that's not bad and where was my TPS because with our homemade throttle cable yeah we only had 50 throttle yeah dude it's so much quicker right now pretty sweet dude it might make more it might make over 10 pounds if it actually has 100 throttle I mean according to rough injector data I have in there too we're only at 70 80 duty cycle on the injector so so we should have enough injector to go yeah should we try it again yes 8.9 pounds of boost boys out of the shop and go cart with only 50 throttle per hour of fuel dang freaking moving that's pretty sick okay well I'll try it again we got 100 throttle now [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] it looks like he might have been leaning out a little bit damn 13 pounds I saw it it's because the throttle cable wasn't working as good we need more fuel probably dude oh hold on so and it was lean you can see it's way lean yeah we're at our Max correction yeah hold on to that 13 PSI Mark that little turbo is ripping yeah right there 13 14.2 pounds out of the shopping go-kart holy crap yeah the first time we didn't have the uh throttle blade opening all the way so it only made about eight pounds yeah she was leaning that we just try to go in there and bump up the fuel or is the injector Duty already maxing out uh it's up there it's like 90. dang but I can give it this 35 and then see if that gets us closer to our Target yeah just give it the rest give it as much fuel as we can yeah everything that little injector has yeah yeah all right guys the shopping cart made a whopping 13 PSI boost which is pretty nuts I did not think it was going to make that much I have no idea what this wastegate is rated for apparently it might be right around 13 pounds or more I didn't think it was that high I thought it was like maybe eight to ten pounds spring in there at most but I guess not she made 13 PSI which is crazy that's the most it has ever made for sure we need to upgrade either the injector or see if we can bump up the fuel pressure because our injector is maxed out we looked at the tune after those last few passes and it was starting to lay over really hard um on that last little test run because once we got the throttle pedal working it was making more boost and it was just demanding more fuel that it just did not have so a couple other things we need to do is hook up our boost reference to the regulator right here that nipple on the regulator needs to go to this guy so for every pound of boost we make in here it will bump our fuel pressure up a pound which will in turn help the injector out and then we also might set the base pressure a little higher just see if we can squeeze a little bit more out of this injector I did say that when I put this thing originally together when I first built it I wanted to put PVC over the tires and make it a drift shopping cart for going downhills and stuff now even though it has a motor that doesn't mean we still can't do that we looked up some PVC online to see how much it would cost to get some 10 to 10 and a half inch inner diameter PVC to slip over these go-kart tires and stuff's really expensive it's like 70 bucks a foot I guess which isn't too bad but I think we're going to test the concept first and we found that five gallon buckets actually fit pretty darn good so we got this guy cut right here and we already tested this earlier we put that guy over it and inflated the tire and it locks on there now the five gallon buckets do have a slight taper to them so it's not perfectly flat and they are very thin so these probably won't last long but before we get you know the real deal PVC on the way we're going to go ahead and cut this other five gallon bucket and cut this section out of it and slip these guys over the tires and see how she drifts a small sacrifice to pay for some drifting the Home Depot bucket R.I.P Home Depot so we just aired our tires down slipped them over and now we just pop them back up fires right up [Music] bucket Wheels [Music] foreign crap it was working so good for like two seconds [Music] hey no bueno well you get about 10 seconds of use and then they fall apart rip I guess watch it just get the legit PVC for it [Laughter] you almost had it [Music] I think it's breakfast brother [Music] foreign way better that time yeah sounded like it was Dripping pretty decent I saw like 11 6 the whole way down there I don't know how much boost it was that time yeah we'll take a look I'm bump in the fuel pressure up definitely helped yeah I gave it a ton of fuel in the tune and everything so airfield's actually pretty good there yeah we'll see what the correction was and I did a little power shift into second and popped the baby over there yeah how'd it feel though is it feeling like it's making power or does it just feel like yeah I don't know if it I know he pulled a lot of timing out of it I don't know what it was running before but oh my God pretty decent we've got her dialed in now we're looking a lot better now she's only correcting one percent before I was trying to correct 35 and it was still going lean we bumped that fuel pressure up about 20 pounds an hour right where we need to be and you know you can do the same thing on a car too but if your pump can't keep up with that amount of flow you might have an issue but we got a tiny little engine here and a very high volume pump for what this engine is so we could probably Crank that pressure as high as we want and we know we're not going to run out of any sort of volume there if we start getting up into like the 80 psi range though the injector has a chance it might not be able to open under that much pressure but looks like we don't need to go anymore than where we're at no it looks really good all right we're making pretty good progress here we were able to make 12 pounds of boost that time and the fuel did not run away from us and we have the timing really dumbed down right now just so we don't blow this thing up hopefully but we're slowly adding some more timing back into it so it should be making a little bit more power here but I threw some headphones on because this thing's kind of loud not gonna lie this ear was ringing a little bit foreign [Music] foreign [Music] well you feel better that time oh yeah yeah yeah timing helped yep heck yeah we need to clean up that Idol and stuff yeah a little bit and then there's still a couple hiccups I think it really only has the most issues in first gear and more low throttle stuff it's still kind of Jumpy but once it comes into Booth she starts to take off I think it's faster now than it was for sure yeah it starts to really get going it's definitely running way better on this setup and more consistently than it was on the other EFI system for sure at least we're able to fire it up and the corrections we're doing on the fuel Tech actually are contributing whereas the other ECU we had on there we would make changes and it would seem good we would change nothing about it and then all of a sudden everything's way off for some reason so I think we're heading in the right direction here that fuel Tech's the way to go all right we're gonna go for a top speed run all right foreign [Music] we have 45. foreign pretty solid that was pretty good so I hit a top speed of 45 45 and I still had to let out because that four-way stop up there kind of comes in kind of comes up pretty fast yeah that and the brakes are pretty shady yeah they still work but they're getting soft again so I hit 45 and by the time I was doing it I was like right here and then I let off and just coasted the rest of the way I still had a couple more left in it but like I said I already know it goes about 49. yeah I was pretty sick yeah dude she's working she's making some boost I think it's a unit not many people can say they're out here tuning their turbo shopping cart on a fuel tank dude this thing has a nicer computer than the freaking NSX on our shopping go-kart for real yeah the fuel tank is working way better it's running pretty good right now I do want to put it on a Dyno one day and see if we're making a significant gain but dude the Boost is for sure adding to it that's sweet that first gear launch it got a little out of control it was up on the back bumper you can see it in your face oh I was about to let out but I was like let's go that was funny yeah this thing's a ripper dude a couple more tweaks definitely still needs some more low-end tuning but otherwise yeah it's pretty solid perfect but it's definitely way better than the day we got it together so we've just been messing with it for the last couple hours now trying to get her dialed in and it's on this should we do it right now yes all right do it while it's hot we can lower the garage door get some see the flamage buddy that whole time out there was 13 pounds of boost dude the go-kart is taking some boost up here where was our where are we heading rev limiter probably up here somewhere and that's 10 000 at the limiter freaking dude just holding three for the entire grass session there that little motor from ching chong who knows where is just taking a beating dude well guys to end this off we are going to set up a two-step through the fuel Tech and uh see if we can get some cool flamage out of the little turb ski here but that session in the grass really tested her limits but it's good still making boost nothing blew up she lives for another day unless we blow it up right now on two-step thank you got it look at the exhaust pipe oh Lord he is glowing boys hey she's still running though all right do it again don't put that do it again do it again all right I'm gonna shut this door more all right and get a killer shot foreign [Music] cool down there this thing is nuts that's by far the best two-step it's ever done it sounds so rowdy [Applause] oh right when he told me to leave it running sorry I'm gonna clean up the idle because it's really rich now because we up to fuel pressure a bunch yeah hey that was one oh the two-step but an idle for a minute to cool down hit it with the leaf blower but we also yeah we got the shot on the DSLR so you guys could hear it better that was nuts overall great day with the shop and go-kart she's running really good on the fuel Tech now and dude I don't know what do you think we I think we should throw this thing on E85 yeah squeeze a little bit more out of her but we could push the timing like another five degrees probably yeah yeah we'll have to get the injector on the way and yeah we do the injector and then we'll turn it up man we dial in the steering a little bit more and a good throttle cable like I think it's ready for a Taco Bell run whatever take it to Publix and go get some groceries in our shopping cart we'll get a little trailer I could sit on the trailer you know like a little garden trailer
