hello everyone minion here and today i'm going to be reacting to morissette singing i want to know what love is i'm super familiar with this song i actually grew up listening to the foreigner version of this song and i have heard the mariah carey cover i much prefer the foreigner version but the mariah carey version is is also very good i'm assuming that morissette is probably going to arrange it more like the mariah carey version and uh that makes a lot of sense um because it is it's got some some breakout that's a little different um plus you know bringing in uh mariah brought in you know chorus and um you know like a choir type chorus and um morissette's voice is a little deeper than mariah's on the low end so i think the soft aspects of this song she can really nail so i'm really excited to to hear this so let's get into it [Music] nice it's gonna be good i gotta take a little time [Music] a little time to think [Music] i don't think you can start this song better than that wow like i said that the richness in her tone nice deep low nice control and you just you know you feel the emotion you just wanna give her a hug and say it's gonna be all right um and again watch her eyes just she she definitely gets into character she feels what she sings and it comes across and i absolutely love that i'd adore it [Music] i don't know if i can face it against far to change [Music] nothing i know you can show me [Music] those background vocalists match up well with her and on this song so sounds really good and she's amazing simply amazing [Music] me [Music] [Applause] [Music] are you kidding me she just tears into your soul it's just she's speaking to your heart it's the the squeaks and the fall off there is just wow just wow in fact i gotta go back i don't normally like to go back i'm going back [Music] [Music] [Music] me is [Music] [Applause] is [Music] [Music] me [Music] is i'm going back do you see how she pulled away from the microphone it actually threw me off for a second um because she kind of looked away pulled the microphone away i'm like what's she doing because it wasn't a normal you know like she's belting a high note and needs to and it's going to be so loud that she's pulling it away because of the loudness in her voice and um she she she pulls it away right before and it kind of threw me off and then i i guess she was like dialing in the whistle and how long was that that freaking whistle for my gosh [Music] [Music] me just wow and to again change notes in there and hold it that long i mean i i'd have to listen to mariah carey's whistles again but it's amazing she's like a a better version of mariah carey in that regard but i think morrissette's voice is so much more versatile mariah's voices is very bright to me and she can go really high and it it's it's sounds great um but i love the fact that morissette can get down into those really low notes and then combine that with her nuances you know the little squeaks and growls strategically placed the other thing that i like about morissette is she doesn't overuse that stuff mariah carey can do that stuff and in some songs and some performances she overuses it and when you overuse it it removes how special it is whereas you know morissette really understands uh the the message of the song what she's trying to put across to the audience and where to put that i don't know if that's instinctive or if it's planned all i know is that it's beautiful and it it gets the point across and it and gets the emotion across and that's ultimately it's why i listen to music it's why many people listen to music i'm not impressed by just cool sounds um you know i need the the emotion and the lyric to be kind of supportive of that so i don't listen to a lot of pop music because a lot of pop music to me doesn't have that um and is why i've been enamored with morissette lately is because here she's singing pop songs um and she's also covered rock songs and other genres so i'm gonna get into those but um this performance was was amazing now i'm i'm still a huge fan of the original foreigner version but as far as a version sung by a female voice this is the best version i've heard and i've heard that mariah carey version um this is superior to me just because of the the range the the low breathy areas mariah sounds good but it doesn't sound great to me um this was this was spot on and i really enjoyed seeing her standing up for once she's been seated in all the other videos that i've looked at so um that was that was good to see but just an amazing performance from start to finish so i'm looking forward to a lot more more set and i got a long list to get through so thank you for joining me on this reaction and i'll see you in the next one you
