hey everyone it is Sara today I'm going to do a part two of my New York City's worst scams video and that's because when I did my part one video so many people wrote in and told me about new tourist traps and new scams which sucks so I want to make sure that you don't get stuck in those so let's go uncover all the new ones that are happening today see you there [Music] fake lungs man this one really upsets me because it's disrespectful to the Buddhist culture it's these people that dress like Buddhist monks and they offer you a little cooling but what they're really giving you is nothing they show you a piece of paper that people donated money to which they really wrote those names and then they asked for money in exchange for the coin as a donation but the thing is the donation what is the donation their pockets they're just taking the money from you you see a lot at Times Square you also see it in Central Park so watch out for those areas those are where the fake monks are don't fall for it one of the most common scams you'll find here are fake purses and fake luxury goods you'll find it here around Chinatown now the thing you have to be careful for is them telling you that it's real but it's actually fake and they'll charge a lot of money for it just make sure you do your research in advance because none of us up here is real it might look real but it's not so please don't pay the price you would pay for like a Louboutin bag for a bag here it's not real this is real bags or these are real okay okay but these aren't real are they no make up you know they're fake but they look look good quality music happy and they said [Music] in the Time Square and Midtown area you're gonna see a lot of fake electronic stores it looked like the one behind me which I can't even get close to because when I get close to it the owner comes out it yells at me since he doesn't want me to show what this is really and it's a scam what they do is they have signs outside that show a an electronic whether it be like a phone or a camera or a laptop or something like that for a cheap price and you go inside you'll ask for that item and they will be out of stock and sell you an item that's better for what you need in the moment but the problem is that these are not valid stores so when you buy a product here it's not going to be a good quality item they don't have warranties so they fully rely on tourist sales because tourists come here for a week and then they leave and then they can't reach the store people like locals don't shop here because they know they're fake and with and they won't even tell the locals because they know that will come back and complain and demand a refund which tourists can't do so don't go to stores like this instead go to companies like B&H that sells really good quality items and they offer warranties don't do it it's a trap you're just going to waste tons of money sorry [Music] so I personally never encountered this one I've heard it happens so that's why I want to warn you the Staten Island Ferry is a free way to see the Statue of Liberty it transports people from Manhattan to Staten Island but some sneaky scammers have learned that tourists will buy fake tickets to Ward the Staten Island Ferry but what you need to know is it is always free so there's no reason you should ever pay a ticket just get on the Staten Island Ferry at SRI honestly though I don't recommend seeing a touch of Liberty this way it's filled with so many tourists it's dirty it's gross just do a classic Harbor line cruise about a mile up but honestly it's the best way to see the Statue of Liberty subway beggars now this is a category that's kind of sad because a lot of them are drug addicts and that's why they live but they come into the car they tell a sob story about why they need money normally they say something like I only need five more dollars I only need ten more dollars or whatever it is but the truth is that story is completely false and they're drug addicts so I don't recommend ever giving anyone money when you're on the subway plus it's also illegal to bank so there's that part just know that they change their story every single day every day it's a different sob story it's not real they just are going to use your money to buy drugs so please don't give the money the train that you'll see these beggars on the most is the S train normally because it literally goes back and forth all day so they get a turnover of different people literally every minute so that's why they stay on this train and they'll do that all day long and they normally switch their story so watch out especially when you're on the S train but really any subway train you'll see these people doing this a really common scam are fake taxes from the airport's now I feel really bad for people that fall for this one because honestly like it is really hard to tell what is a fake taxi and what is a real taxi the best way to determine which one is real which one is fake is just get in the taxi line right here come to the taxi line and you're guaranteed to get a real taxi don't catch a taxi if it's not in the taxi line because they'll definitely charge you more if you're going to a show at Madison Square Garden make sure that you buy your tickets in advance because people sell tickets outside and some of them are real but some of them are fake scalper tickets and this actually happened to my friend he wanted to go to a show here it was sold out so he found a scalper outside selling tickets bought it and then the ticket didn't scan and he lost I think was $300 so don't buy tickets by the scalpers outside make sure you buy them from a legitimate source online before coming here to Madison Square Garden [Music] thanks for watching if you like this video remember to subscribe follow me on Instagram with Sara punky and watch my other New York City videos I have tons of them on things to do eat see and much much more I'll see you next time [Music]
