[Music] [Music] as you know I'm going to Bonneville I've just left for the airport it's I've been driving for an hour now it's around midnight plane leaves 7:45 in the morning but I'm driving electric and that's great for my daily commute not so great for longer trips like this certainly not when it's cold outside so so this is my first charging stop and there will be at least one more maybe - probably two second charge stop I'm in Oslo now we're thinking about names for a bike inspiration has been lacking moped dick ah the flying Norseman maybe not so bad my favorite so far is experimental test vehicle one ok I'm in the airport so first challenge of the trip is speaking public to the camera I wish I find kind of in Pleasants as of yet I I'd imagine that will change after this trip okay let's see if I can find my chicken and get checked in there made it through security so now my mission is to find a bar so apparently there's no serving of whiskey or run until one of bummer taste it with my first choice though better okay cleared security in Heathrow now it's self-defining my gates and I'm a bit late because or the plane was a bit late so I had a career so welcome to you on the wheel here's the crew hi I'm Jim Jim dan down so these are the guys who have put this whole thing together basically or Jim is the big looks quite sure what you call it the original driving force the spark for this ad and so I'm here finally it's been two days of flying almost and we're starting to get things out outside a camper here and ready to assemble the bike [Music] like his almost together and ready for a test start Dalton Jim are has gone out to pick up some food just admit I am struggling with talking to the camera in front of people so that will have to change now yes I will have to do that for the rest of the week that's why maybe it's a little bit strange now in the beginning okay I'll bring you back when it's sampled and ready for our first startup here in the United States so wish me luck thank you it starts we were struggling for a bit there with getting it to fire it turns out we needed to purge the engine more than we thought at first then it fire up sorry for not filming the start I forgot to turn on the camera again we're now trying to find a place where we can test it on the road bike is loaded on the truck and we're ready to start looking for a place to run it I spent about an hour assembling it when they restarted I believe at least half now oh it's in the evening and we started this morning so it took much more than an hour but it's ready and we're going to find a place to see if we can test it so we give them a short bit down the road here and we found a piece of road that's not in use at the moment because the refinery is closed it seems we have no fast permission it might be a stupid idea we'll see what happens it's not venture [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] a sterling finding out okay battery it's a Saturday morning I'm I'm on my way to the toilet and brush my teeth and we're heading to Wendover soon and over the small city next to the Bonneville Salt Flats and we're probably going to try some testing tried perform some testing on world air today see if the shorts do battery built and I'm going to see if if advancing the timing helps as I said mentioned in the last video 22 on the right eye [Music] that of water come Speedway Road so we just arrived at the salt flats now and as you can see the conditions aren't exactly ideal there's a lot of water it's been raining a lot even when we got there it was raining but hopefully it will dry up in this is Saturday and the race starts racing starts on Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday so there's a chance of this drying up hopefully hopefully Sunday and yesterday we got the news that the world finals is canceled for this year so now we have no purpose here at all we're actually going to try test the minutes right as it tries and testing of the bike maybe out on the salt if that's possible or on some roads here so and we're trying to get a hold of tech and maybe we can get the bike tickets for the next year's events so say hello to Travis he's joined us hello we're nothing yeah we're good times in the camper so we're currently making breakfast and it's kind of crowded here because somebody put a lot of bikes in here for some reason yeah so that's that's a bummer but we're making the best of it and next year we'll beat them all I'll try to be slower with my panning here now okay we're all crammed into Travis's van and we're heading out to the track to see if there are some people there from tech inspection preferably so that we can get it looked at and maybe try and running it we just got out here and you can see why they closed forecast it's it's a lot not for more now yesterday now it's the guys over there said that tech inspection should hear some time in Spain house so this stuff all this information here would come out of the rule book okay Matt so if it said a 50cc is correct yep okay so a gas 50 cc's AG 50 yeah so and then you would put the that classification in the engine displacement there's also codes that relate to those we can show you how to get the book and you'd put those here and it's important and now remember to ask the inspector right make sure because you know it's a rookie right you're just here for the first time you want to make sure that stuff gets filled out and then you'd fill this area and then at the end when we turn you loose you have to sign the release here and the inspectors in the side make sure that your injury not entry number and class designation on your number plates would be correct and then also if you have a driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement yeah do you have anything to do you have a need because my only driver's license is 450 cc so you just want to make sure you get you get you get going over 125 awesome it doesn't give you an se da WA yeah well on the front you have a pin through the hole yeah and the nut so I can't I can't turn it off but that can theoretically you can hold the nut and a bolt can turn out so we will have to do reveal and safety wire this side - yes yeah or or have a flat a stop on the flat here so we I installed a solenoid the post we weren't sure if you jump the m50 last yeah so there's a there's the fuel solenoid okay in this fire sheets been in line for for entering the entering event and the tech inspection now but as its canceled we're not but we got a tech inspection in last night as you saw all some of the guys to do that and also pretty cool that yeah this is a tech inspection guy was a fan for my channel and I've been talking to my mail didn't realize it was here yeah so now I'm going to take a shower and we're probably hundred miles an hour Wow the record is about 90 okay it produces quite a bit of power you I'm stuck with dirt yeah yeah a lot of guys that build super banshees oh yeah yeah power yeah yeah yeah yeah I thought there was a time that I thought when I first did this place to run this is an air-cooled engine and I couldn't keep it cool on the salt so when I decided to finally go liquid cooled by God okay those Banshee guys they've been doing this for a long time I'll just follow suit they're often left-field those guys are trying to - two strokes like four strokes to many wheels yeah so I went into that down that road and what yeah but but you're I've been wondering about this so you're running a tank Walter tank yeah I fill up this back section with water and ice the whole thing here yeah around so this is just a like itching transfer yeah they exchanged the chain that has just so this little pumpless cheap-looking function is circulating that it circulates through and it just comes back out circulates and the whole tank leaks and so it lasts about one run which is just fine but yeah so this plate heat exchanger every it's a two millimeter spacing yeah and every other one is either engine coolant or okay so it's there's a ton of cooling area I used to run to motocross radiators kind of the same thing where I saw a knitter lit up with water yeah you know so it wasn't it was still water to water exchange and that worked well and I set a record that year with that but then my buddy who's a plumber he came over one day and he's like why don't you use a plate heat exchanger what the is that I don't even know what you're talking about but it works so slick and how can I get rid of any breakers I don't have any room for a radiator exactly I was thinking about the radiator now and it's in such a tangle a ducting and probably with an edge to push it in the wind it drags all that stuff so yeah that would say no should and we need a tail section it's allowed with at 8:06 means anyway and yeah and I try to keep it on gasoline I try to keep it under what say 140 that by the time I'm done with my pass that doesn't work out that way all the time but if I thought everything right then it's 140 yeah if I can keep EG teased about 1290 1280 a happy that's a head yeah yeah I've seized out there so many times now that I've seized out there more than on his eyes that kind of my limit was like 1215 1250 cause I'm I know 1300 then it's starting to get really really toasted on this bike LLL go 12 9 12 9 as soon as I hit the hundred it seasons yeah exactly I mean if that's where it is exactly that's where you have to be it oh yes yeah there you have to and I've been through like looking at that timing light going oh I can do it I can jack up the trunk of course I love the hard stuff so yeah and this one goes with me everywhere I just throw out the back of the truck it always runs instead of the bodies yeah it's just a fun it never gets any love but it runs every time I pick it over so it's yeah it's tick tick great but I got this track bike yo this is my long-distance guy you know this is another Rd this has this is an RD 350 but it's not one of my land speed engines and oh it's actually like 424 oh yeah so it makes way too much power it's a little bit scary yeah there was never meant to have that much I don't know the first thing because I originally felt it with a 350 engine just when I was starting to play with you know two strokes and stuff so it's just learning how to port it came out okay and it made okay power and then I did this and the first thing I did is I came home and put that steering damper that was really cool yeah bull taco I did maybe two years ago that's cool too two sides yeah yeah well nobody paints like that always joining something that just with everybody I said lots of people fish around that's probably bikes $2.00 that's probably my favorite dish it's so so minimalist and yeah yeah I love fine this I was just gonna run in the harbour race this year and just ran out of time I guess racer up her eye and all it needs is got put the carburetors on pipes are hanging up I mean it's ready to go it just needs a little bit of time that's what I like my killer is always time that's never having that time anybody it's so busy building parts for people that trying to do my own these are Pistons in different states most of our murse I think scrap I think these two are backups for what's in there so they don't have the trapped ring but could you show me how you let me make those rings I was wondering to ask to machine those yeah I did so I just machined them yeah and these ones I had chrome-plated but I haven't had a chance to finish them and try them no I know how if I make a fixture to follow what I did is I I've made this fixture so I'm machine him and cut him off yeah and then I just break them yeah and then I put him on this fiction this I spent a bunch of time I had to make I don't know probably ten of these maybe not that many six of them yeah to get the size right then I just yeah goes up to 2100 degrees but I only get these up to about 1700 yeah so I put these in and I stack them all up and then of course there this one now his is set open yeah but you know really I've got a you know kind of press them on and then I just fire them up and then I just put a threaded rod in there and take it out in to quench it okay and then you have their harvest yeah and then I put them back in and anneal them that have like 500 degrees and I think today and they have pretty good tension like screw it around like the first yeah I got done with the Rings know if I still have them and I made them thick and they will have so much tension oh these aren't any good so I remade it all so they have a less less tension yeah less tension I think they came out pretty little ridges here digits oh those are just machines um yeah then I just machine I've just moved Benesch manually machine and I just I just cut them down and then proving tool yeah and just cut that you cut that and then part it off yeah nice so beautiful business yeah I just sold it flexor butter well so the deal is they're trapped so they have this step that you can see that on the back side so they're trapped in on that step so they only expand about 10-12 thousandth beyond what the four sizes so if you get rid of this is one of the liners out of that you get rid of the bridges out of the exhaust because the ring is too trying to fall into it yeah but it's still a test is everyone tested now when I flipped over to the dark side yeah - too many wheels right they're here and there's an intercooler or an eye radiate yeah of course there's no turbulant no turbo yet yes amount of vehicles present in the facility yeah they do specially the harness especially the home think I have a giant Honda Magnum yeah probably I would be so badass some sharper like is it question wake up the worst in me I would be flipping off people all the time I'm always happy awesome yeah how can not be like cuz I know we have a lot of wires coming and going installed yeah oh yeah we need to clean up that stuff it's a lot of them it's messing there it will be a completely new harness now with everything going into one microcontroller and just that one red light stream suggestive that just tells you like full trove we're off the troubles and that should be our fan of accessible harnesses yeah I would rather see a captured harness on the outside there yeah yeah yeah yeah I just like if you make it really neat that could be justice or maybe we could have it like to Christa yeah under it is with the new fuel tanks and it just like boiler getting slower off that fuel tank tank wouldn't like be in do a we're at Travis's shop here's Travis you probably know by now that event got canceled so we're actually like preparing for next year's event now and then talking about some changes to the bike and of the out of the casting yeah so I just looked at it in there properly not broken Hoover thought yep so you didn't even begin to know oh it's just been running here first gear should go get him remove the switches or take the switches out of the equation and see if that helps that's actually something we should have tried earlier on I think no I'm just the I like now you guys it's okay but like before that I was I couldn't film with my girlfriend there like I was set off I couldn't do it this has been like a major I've grown through this real [Music] mo mastery some how long you like land got compressed when I took out the rug bearing in like at home on the dyno so laughing maybe we've been chasing our tail with fuel and ignition all this time and it's been that it's like being dropping in and out of compression like the ring has been ceiling and not sealing sealing and at high rpm it's been like this I'm American now okay I'll replace the piston and we'll see how it goes and the big end bearing is going out again for some strange reason we're starting to think it's this cracked these cracks because this is the second time that happens the same type of crack luckily I've got an Kartik crack now the replacement crank that's a different one who's supposed to be good yep tear down time too much el Jimador yes they're nice so nice with the reason is good and it's really no other way like using the not doing it mm-hmm but then this was applied to the ball switch turn like I'm supposed to do but I think we'll just have to do that yeah beat it in there with a hammer yeah that's not true what's here maybe dear I can't yeah put a wedge in there yeah the duck wouldn't work I don't think you can get it that's true Center me yeah pull it in there yeah micro polish micro-polishing fit now no more micro-polishing when you yeah and you won't get it in there and when you heat it up no more right there lay still do Pikes Peak yeah we'll get even drive early up and ready to go and that'll be a cool experience because the highest I've ever been is I think that's I might might be less than 2,000 meters and Pikes Peak is four thousand three hundred or something it's less twice as high as I've ever been it will be a kind of cool like driving after can't do that Norway error bear country yeah is there on the side beer area I think's almost eaten just two weeks ago here [Music] I got this one load or the time yeah there's a lot of Windsor so you won't be able to hear and anything of what I'm saying I'll turn now yeah Pikes Peak let's go there that slightly lower pointin 92 Cloud City Morris okay knocks slowly back down in town yeah it's cool are they have a place to write try said that that's all all you need to have the health food yeah the trials the bar I think my bike would have been pretty shady from trial where is my camera my very worst ever yeah my tripod trials bike would be pretty bad well that's been yeah [Music] Last Supper actually dinner yeah yeah Ruby Tuesday well we get there a little early that's good oh yeah okay that's it them just checked in with the five from Denver to Salt Lake City so I'm kind of flying backwards here but that's because I'm meant to fly from Salt Lake City in the first place and it was easier and less expensive to just get another flight than to change that Salt Lake City flight anyways I guess this is it it's been a great experience best experience of my life and we're going back next year best experience without even racing yeah so next year we'll be back with a vengeance
