MONTREAL - OTTAWA: Renaissance Cars Last Run! Plz Like & Share! #viarail #railways #railfan #trains

welcome aboard for another video thanks conductor Keith I'm currently standing on one of these things only taller it's taller and this is one of the transit trains now the reason why I was standing up there was to capture this train from Quebec city to Montreal it was the last run of the Renaissance rail cars in the Quebec Ontario corridor except that according to an earlier VIA Rail release the Renaissance cars would stop here at Montreal and then everyone Bound for Ottawa would change trains to a new Seaman set and carry on except there was a change of plans so the Renaissance car is carried on so I was super surprised to actually get on them I was only standing on the platform to capture this video what I thought would be the last time Renaissance cars would pull in under Revenue Service in the corridor well but then I actually got to ride them home when I was on the train I spoke to a crew member who confirmed this was the last run of these rail cars and that there had been a change of plans Montreal station is underground except for the top of the Concourse roof all the streets around and the buildings around have built up over it later in this video there's some cool action where I combine some Trackside video of this train passing anyway I thought this was the very final moment of the Renaissance cars oh so happy to be wrong here is the top of the building poking up above everything built up around it all right so this is special because this is going to be the last trip of the Renaissance cars and I'm on one these are the ones made in the United Kingdom in the 90s and this trip I'm in Montreal station we're about to go it's underground and we're going to Ottawa this is a very exciting trip for me very exciting day sad day in a way these rail cars have done a lot of service on VIA Rail but this is the final run you can kind of tell they're old school I mean they even have curtains the accessibility issue is you know you have to step up step up to the seats and they're getting old in the long in the Toth so we're just exiting the station now [Music] so right now we're being backed around y we had to back out of the station of Montreal and we're being backed around to Y so then we'll turn and go forward again back to Ottawa now what are the chances we meet up with Renaissance cars as part of an empty move of via rails the ocean where they still use Renaissance cars but in a non-commuter Trin Corridor configuration and they're going to use these Renaissance cars on the ocean for at least a while more and here of course are some classic 1950s bun cars which are easier to make accessible because they're so much bigger and the floors are level here's a set of empty rail cars and some more Renaissance [Music] cars good evening everyone [Music] so we're just about to pass St polycarp here and here we are crossing that was the cpkc main line our next stop will be Alexandria station and approximately 10 minutes I will be opening the gate between car number three and 4 if you leaving us in Alexandria please make yourself available between car 3 and 4 we are just coming into Alexandria and Alexandria is a namesake of the one myself and my I haven't set it up yet [Music] yes I that's what I'm going to do tomorrow I dropped it and I've got a case on [Music] well hello everyone this announcement is just to give a little update on the schedule next stop final stop auto station is now SCH 7:00 so the train left Ottawa a little bit late and my family's already at the station in Castleman to watch this train go by but uh we're supposed to be passing through Castleman now we're not even at Maxville yet we just passed through Maxville this is the west side of Maxville meanwhile while I was just recording that my 8-year-old son was with his mom in castan where we liveed recording this these are the trains replacing the Renaissance cars we were supposed to take the siding in castan and let this train pass but instead we were late so this train took the siding and we passed it [Music] almost [Music] there's the train taking the siding now we'll see it again when I pass by it so we're just approaching a town Village of moose Creek when we were moving here to eastern Ontario little less than a year ago we the other house we were really looking at was here in Moose Creek so we almost wound up in Moose [Music] Creek this is the number one Highway now we're entering Castleman and we're about to pass the train in the siding there it is used to be a very very fast Flash by of my family and there they are there they were I don't know how good that was but there they areke now we're about to cross a bridge and it's the only real significant bridge on the way to Ottawa now this is the South Nation River of course I slowed the piece of film after so we could see them there he is recording with Mom's phone while she covers his ears now let's watch the video he took of us passing [Applause] view of some of the train all right I'm not in here to use the washer but these rail cars are not near as quiet or as smooth as the new Sean Ventures rail cars you know I'm getting fairly bounced around in here this is definitely an everybody sit to PE situation [Music] over on that side is Russell Road and we are just about to pass through Carl bad springs so there's a golf course there at Carl bad springs Carl's Bad Springs is really tiny so this road crossing we're about to cross is pretty much it there a little bit on both sides complete stop at the terminal please retrieve all your personal belonging before you exit the train and for the passengers whove got check Luggage in the baggage car you will be able to retrieve your personal belongings on the platform by the engine up ahead on behalf of here Canada and apologize for arrival we're a few minutes away from stopping in the station in Ottawa [Music] well the era of the Renaissance car on the Quebec Ontario Corridor is coming to a close [Music] well there's a train about to head out with the what they call the Hep cars but they are the bud cars from the 1940s and early 1950s and we have a lot of and [Music] [Music] [Music] thank than thank you thanks thank you so there they are [Music] so they're all taking pictures of each other with this rail car so platform on the very front of the train once again passengers arriving on train number 37 your check luggage will be available on your arrival platform at the very front of the train found out after that these folks are stage performers actors heading to Vancouver to do a show so the trip just ended here at Ottawa station
