i am going to describe each character as fast as possible for beginners who are just starting out in the game and want a quick overview of the characters shang tsung is a very high tier character he has a lot of mids mids are really important in this game he has a lot of distance control he's able to whiff punish you easily with his special moves he's able to again control distance he has a lot of combo potential and he is generally a pretty easy character to play is one of the worst characters in the game because he has flawless blockable gaps everywhere flawless blocks appear to be hard when you start but eventually you get used to them this is something that you can very easily exploit other than his flawless block gaps he has really solid damage he has a 50 50 right here this attack if he grabs you is a 50 50 and when you try to duck that attacks and sets a high he simply follows up with an attack like this he has extremely high touch and his interior is one of the best in the game frost is a very solid character she thrives in the neutral meaning she needs a little bit of space to work mostly she covers a lot of distance has a lot of tools to keep you in the neutral for example like this her special cancels are great this is actually plus on block meaning it's still her turn to hit you up close she has plus frames this is plus five meaning still harder to hit you mean that this is guaranteed she has great combo potential and is overall a very solid character night wolf is a good character he has a great auto shimmy an arushimi means an attack that looks exactly like a crab this doesn't look like a crab right now in practice but when you're fighting someone the arms extended like this especially on this side looks pretty similar to this night wolves game plan is to jail you gelling means you do a ducking attack and it prevents them from doing anything else but block so if you press anything he chills you and then follows up with gobbles he has one of the best projectile in the game this is a mid meaning that you can't duck it he can hold it you can even cancel it meaning that if you block it he can cancel it and continue going for a grab or simply going for a mid he also has a little sneaky overhead in there this looks slow but it's pretty hard to react to online he has hit confirmable moves meaning that he has a lot of time to hit you and react to his attacks touching to special cancel joker is one of the best characters in the game he thrives because he pretty much has no weakness in the neutral he has very long reaching normals that make it very hard for you to come in up close he has a quick mid which still has impressive range he has hit confirmable moves that allow him enough time to react to special cancel he has 50 50s this is an overhead this is a low and he has the best drop in the game for example a trap means that you are forced to block after you wake up if you don't lock you're gonna get hit also he has a launcher with his fastest standing one meaning that if you get punished by joker he's going to launch you for a massive combo he is top three in the game some argue that he is the best in the game and that's pretty hard to argue against that's not my position but i respect people's opinion when they say that johnny cage is a character that thrives in the neutral is someone that commands a lot of distance with his normals a lot of his things are highs unfortunately a lot of his pressure has been nerfed too but he's still a solid character that takes a lot of skills to play and a lot of effort to play he is a very honest character even though he good johnny cage used to be one of the best in the game is now just good sonia is a good character she was actually the best character when the game came out but she got nerfed sonia is a 50 50 type of character because of three things notice the overhead no this is the low this is unreactable and there's a low right in the middle here she probably has the highest damage in the game which makes her extremely extremely dangerous here i'm going to show you what damage is without a bar there's no bar nothing to spend 336 and if i'm angry and i do this the comeback potential is absolutely insane so when sonia hits you in the face you have to pray that's almost half your life with no bar the weakness of sonia is that almost everything starts with the high so how you beat sonny is by poking her she has a few moves that are mids but they don't lead to full combos so for example this one the completion of this attack is 164 and then she also has this move which on block is interruptable and if you want to special cancel it it's 196. so that's her weakness she's just a good character now cassie cage is another character that used to be one of the best in the game she's now just good she's a character that has a lot of good mids she can whiff punish you very often her staggers are very very strong her damage potential especially now with customs is incredible or two bar meters she got 355 damage which is pretty solid she has one of the best anti-air in the game back three it's an amazing anteater she has an auto shimmy one one one which is extremely strong in other shiny means that a grab resembles this attack so people let go of block thinking a grab is coming but really you're comboing them and since there are three hits it means that you have enough time to react to actually open them up and go for full combos she has an amazing projectile this is a mid and she low profiles a little bit so cassie cage is a very solid character all around but she is honest you need to work really hard with her to make it work jax is a good character he has some of the best tigers in the game this one here also this one unreactable in my opinion he also has pretty good command grabs this is a high but it can lead to a massive combo that's a couple massive damage it's pretty hard to get the crushing glow though but let's say that i got it i just put the easy crushing blue on just because it's super hard to get but when you get it look at this damage 350 for two bar for a grab his grub is a high which is duckable but jax is a solid character he does carry but he's a mid-tier character spawn is a good character he is someone who has a lot of range in his normal a good spawn will probably keep backing up often because there's a big incentive to do so there's no hurt box on escape meaning that you if you if you hit the cape nothing's gonna happen but if his cape hits you then he can open you up his damage is some of the highest damage in the game in this execution for basic combos is not very hard 338 for one bar so let's say i go for another one says squeeze out two bars 400 damage for something that's extremely extremely easy so very very high damage good character scorpion is a good character he's pretty noob friendly if you're just starting out with the game you might want to consider using him he's pretty good in the neutral and has some tools as well up front and the neutral back one is an attack that you really want to go for it's hit confirmable to keep yourself safe and when you get them when they're not blocking it's easy to special cancel his combos are very very very easy he can get some decent damage not too high not too low his back three is an overhead that's quasi unreactable online and it's safe and he has a starting low as well which makes it a 50 50. a scorpion that backs up if you don't care about the enjoyment of your opponent you can always back up and throw a spear and if you see them through a projectile you teleport he has teleport cancels as well which makes it very strong you can cancel it grab cancel it cancel it back dash into back one there's all sorts of things you can do with scorpion his back is four three stagger is unreactable in my opinion a solid character not too good not too bad just a solid character noob cybot is a good character he has an auto she means two one two in my opinion this one opens up people often he is someone that is more of a neutral type of character he wants to whiff punish you he can hit you from distances that you can't hit him he uses a lot of his special abilities to combat you to combat you interesting his staggers are good but again his staggers are used to pretty much with an issue he wants to back dash pretty often he's also an anti-zoner if you zone him he can always go and grab you from up there his damage is really really high for not a lot of work look at this here 254 for one of the easiest combo in the game so a solid character baraka is a good character he has amazing amazing damage but his weakness is that he has a hard time getting in his range is not good except his ford four which covers a lot of range but doesn't lead to full combos so for example if we look at some of his damage here this is variation one that was for one bar 326 his fastest standing one which is seven frames leads to an immense amount of damage and a crushing blow which is almost 400 damage for one bar it is absolutely amazing his sweep is great he has an overhead as well it's safe he's relies on his crushing blows for a lot of things but when he gets in and he damages you he does a lot of damage so he's good also has a nice projectile which is very strong raiden used to be one of the worst in the game but now he's been buffed and he's pretty strong he has a 50 50 and his back one two one plus three this is a high you can either do this or do it with that but that's pretty unsafe both of these options are counterable which can lead to full combos ryden is generally a good character he can cover a lot of distance he has amazing staggers this is -7 but the problem is that even though it's supposedly unsafe in his normal he pauses which looks like when he staggers and he was recently bought from the ultimate patch now this used to be unsafe the overhead is now safe i think there's a flawless block up there is but this is usually pretty pretty good he has a starting low he has a starting overhead this is unsafe but leads to a crushing blow he can uh what whatever that thing is he doesn't scream now which sucks he can cancel that actually he has good range actually i think raiden is a pretty good character no matter where he has the best support in the game some good text when you condition people to react to your teleport because when you teleport you lose your turn you technically have to block but if you're quick enough of course or if your opponent is low enough you can always to steal your turn but if your opponent is good at reaction you can always teleport farther away and punish them when they just hit the air so raiden is a solid character jackie briggs is the best character in the game in my opinion she is at least top three if you disagree that she's the best character in the game the reason why is simply because of her extremely high damage she's safe on almost everything she has unbreakable damage as well her staggers are nuts so for example she can keep doing this you don't know when the follow up will come this is plus plus two this is a mid it's a super fast mid with nice range 11 but look at this range all safe extremely safe since this minus two this means that you can stagger it non-stop because minus two is extremely hard to react to for a stagger or four threes and nine frame mid nine frame mids in this game are very strong a good character unbreakable damage is extremely high that's all unbreakable you can't do anything 315. and if they don't have bar you can always do something like this 312 that was only one bar if you have two bars you can always go for the extremely high damage like this 357 isn't that nice jackie breaks the best character in the game in my opinion sub-zero extremely difficult to beat online very good online offline not as good but still good sub-zero is the easiest character to play and he's the character that carries the most in my opinion he has an overhead starter and a low starter as well these are pretty hard to react to in theory 13 frames and 19 frames should be reactable but in practice this is extremely hard to react to he has the best reversal in the game with the slide 11 frames that's the best other than jay's nitro running nitro kick but that's just the execution is really hard to get so we'll say the best reversal in the game he has some range but that is technically his weakness because this can be poked so footsies is his weakness but he is a 50 50 character probably the strongest 50 50 character in the game in my opinion and some of his staggers are pretty insane but they're not the craziest so he's just he's good he also has the amplified ice ball this is a mid usually this is a high so the tech is that you duck you dunk your duck and then eventually he throws one like that and also the mid which is amplified destroys any projectile so if you trade with him he will win and when he freezes you it's long-lasting very long-lasting so he has time to go in and do some damage sub-zero is a good character kano is a mid-year character he's not good he's not bad he's just medium he's a grappler this is a high command grab it ticks as well meaning that the opponent blocks you can whoop you can still grab them he also has an acid which looks ridiculous but when you start to understand how piano plays this is actually really really important for him to have especially in poker bars you know you're poking like this and then he throws acid in your face when you try to respond when you react at your that his don was on block so kano decent damage not real high um he's just medium honestly cabal is one of the most underrated characters in the game he's high tier he's pretty good he's solid everywhere he's safe on almost everything his range is absolutely insane his staggers are insane he can touch you from here that's only minus three minus two he has 50 50s and some of his variations but his best his best things are just his ability to debate safe on pretty much everything um and his staggers as well look at a completion of a combo is minus two which means that he can down to you if you're not fast enough to down to him first so cabal amazing amazing amazing underrated character all sorts of abilities and a crazy fiddle blow if you're far away if you're in the full if you're full screen you're always one block because this happens really quickly so cabal very good character very very good character underplayed and underestimated since the start of the game lukang is one of the best characters in the game he's top three that's for sure the reason why he's so strong is that his staggers are unreactable in my opinion the difference between this and this is almost impossible to see his pressure is nutty and it all revolves around his staggers that are in my opinion unreactable to a certain extent he has options at the end of each string so it's always a mind game his weakness though is that he can get out spaced but he does have some amazing projectiles he also has a reversal punish and his flying kick which is also amazing lukang one of the best characters in the game top three with customs probably top one some argue but i still think that's uh jackie briggs but that's pretty much liu kang for you kitana has been nerfed recently in this patch she's not as strong as she was at least not in the highborne version too after she needs a little bit of space to work she's a whiff punisher especially her back too which is this her problem is that she's tied up in all sorts of dialing strings meaning you have to input the whole thing for the string to come out if you look at my inputs on the right i to input them all if i just put half the second one doesn't come out right it only comes out when i put it all and that's to make the move less strong the problem with that is that if someone rolls you're gonna get really punished katana she has her air lift which um i'll show you in a second katana has a low meter launcher which is amazing because her moves are very hit confirmable it's gonna hurt a lot and that's her best move in my opinion she has a great armor breaker which leads to amazing damage let's say we go with breakaway fast he's gonna break away as soon as he can it's gonna be a trap okay at this damage 416 just for breaking away so katana is a good character even though she's been nerfed i used to love highborne now our born is dead um good character pretty good zoning good spacing struggles up front but it's generally a good character kung lao is a solid character he's actually a pretty difficult character to play in my opinion one of his best move is the hat simply because it leads to full combos and it's also good in poke wars it takes one bar of offensive and defensive meter unfortunately he has pretty decent miz he's pretty head confirmable he's just not the easiest to play for some reason i just find him a little bit difficult but it's uh just a pretty solid character his staggers are good ford one is almost unreactable he has really high damage when he hit confirms so good character jade is a great character as well in my opinion jay carries because of the back three this is the back three she has a lot of option her pressure is undeniable the completion of this combo here is plus five meaning it's still her turn she can still touch you with other high reaching stuff her staggers are crazy the back three this is only two and it's hard to react to meaning that this is highly highly likely to actually work in variation two and jaded our pressure is even stronger plus three i think that this is guaranteed i'm not guaranteed but it's gonna touch this touches as well if your opponent's slowing his reactions you can always keep going the back three so jade a solid character incredible pressure overall very good and she carries in my opinion robocop is the second best owner in the game in my opinion the first one is sichuan variation one he's not good up front he's one of the worst characters in the game actually but um when he's far this attack here for example if you get them on hit it launches them pretty much almost full screen like this is pretty nuts so you just get them with one of these and then he has the mids and when you're stuck up front what you want to do is you want to jail and choose one three one one three one one two one i mean jail like that congested with ford for two which is his launcher his only launcher i think in the game that's one of his combos so with robocop you just want to honestly run away and zone if he says owner if you like zoning robocop is the character for you scarlett is both a zoner and a neutral heavy type of character she is unfortunately one of the worst in the games because she has slows blockable gaps almost everywhere like this one here and that really really kills her but in the neutral you can still do a lot of good sting things with her that's where you want to be as a scarlet you don't want to be in their face you want to be right here and special cancel into all sorts of things this is a gel no she has really high damage too doesn't take a lot to lead to high damage for example that's gonna be one bar look at this damage for one bar pretty nutty and if you're full screen this is one of the best projectiles in the game the tongue it's a mid and the tongue can also use unblock it's safe so solid character nah not really solid um you can be solid with her but she's considered one of the lowest tier characters just because of her flaws blockable caps but if you play her in the neutral like this it's very hard for people to come in against her so that's girl for you she's still good even though she's considered low tier aaron black is a low tier character in my opinion only because i don't think he leads to a lot of damage a lot of people disagree with me about that it's kind of a controversial opinion to say like it's not very strong but he has some decent mids he's tied up in all sorts of um diamond strings for example like it's either two one or two one and you do the whole thing to get it if i just do this it doesn't come out right he's all right um nothing too crazy this is plus three i think he's kind of hard to play especially with the gun here um right there's a lot of inputs to learn it's back two two two is unsafe and it's a diamond string so you can't even really stagger it properly so even the back two is just as minus stands for one of them so i don't think aaron black is very strong just keep in mind that is a controversial opinion and a lot of people disagree with me on that people think aries iron black is really strong he has this boot thing here it's a 50 50 that's an overhead and that's a low it's the overhead is safe on block and you can amp it as well but the low is not safe on block he's alright he's not horrible i just i don't think he's like he's probably like beat here in my opinion he's just not that good but he's not horrible either and a lot of people are good with him online which is why i think that people think that my opinion about him not being that good is trash but that's my opinion devorah is decent she's not good she's not bad she's just normal she is someone who wants to be right here she wants to be in a neutral she can hit you with many different normals for one for two when she's up close her staggers are pretty good the the one two one two it's a high though but this is hard to react to compared to this because of the pause right here this attack like a typo rush is amazing this is unsafe but it gels significantly meaning that he didn't even have time to attack again that's because it's a significant shell it's plus 13. maybe not that significant but significant enough she has 50 50s her sweep is nice the 50 50s i mean is from jumps jump one down two jump one you can do jump one back three come on like that or you can do jump one four four that's an overhead it's unsafe though but it's all it's unreactable it might be almost unreactable in my opinion her damage is not high she really has to work hard for it but she really thrives at poking you she pokes you to death honestly devorah player if you really like distance control having long range moves just keep in mind that when you're up close she doesn't have a close fast mid she has this which is slow so you'll really want to poke a lot when you're up close and if that's not for you another ball right now also in terms of traps she has one of the best traps in the game this move here in variation one two of these bugs gonna come out even if the vora gets hit usually if you just do it normally and someone hits you it cancels the bug but if you have it two of them are gonna come out so in terms of of uh the trap here if you grab them and it hits them it's a guaranteed combo for you so that's interesting they have to take though and they'll be out of it so that's the war for you she's not blood she's not good she's a spirit here kotol khan is a decent character he's someone who has nice really nice range the best normal in terms of range in the game for two look at this distance that's a nutty starter and it's hit confirmable as well he has the most health in the game actually as well he has two type of variations he has one where he has totems and one where he has a command grab this is a mid command grab it's down back to which is extremely easy for mid command grab mid command grab me that you can't duck them right if i get hurt a duck not this it doesn't duck so you have to jump it which is really hard and he has a tech on it so he can either do that it takes right so she's blocking it ticks it grabs her even though she's blocking and if she jumps this is the attack then i pop pop her up in the air and i damage her so chocolate has great damage and his other variation which i will show you now he has totems all right so he has a totem to buff his damage which is you know surprisingly fast you can set up in all sorts of ways the one to nerf his damage damage that he takes that totem is slower 64 frames compared to 42 frames so i suggest you just go for the damage buff but anyways that's always when you go you want to always think about damage in this game of you attacking not you defending so i told him his damage can be absolutely insane when he has always told himself let's look at a simple combo 387 wow for one bar because they stole them and still does last long so i would say that cooligon is a very good character he's good the only thing that he really misses is a fast mid up front because this mid is just not very fast his low is 17 frames so he's just when he's up front he needs to poke a lot which is fine right now we have uh jails that are that work properly so coral khan very very good character actually so that's what i have to say about him good control of the neutral struggles a little bit up close but not too bad and damage is extremely [ __ ] high the shogun queen is very interesting because in all her different variations she has all sorts of different attributes where she struggles is that she barely has range the two attacks or three attacks that have ranged is their sweep that's how you come in or back three which is an overhead and what else and her fourth one which is that but they don't lead to four combos right it's just one attack and one attack and this is one attack she wants to be right in your face and she has all sorts of options variation three she has unreactable 50 50s her stuff is very very hit confirmable meaning you have time to react if you look here her frames are amazing this is -2 this means that you can either finish up like that or you can simply interrupt and go for down one it's very hard to react to especially since there's a pause shiva very good very good character this move here is really annoying to some people but stop especially in variation one since you can control where she drops so many if you move forward or backwards she's gonna land on you so she's a very very good character in variation too she has a reversal punish and in variation one she has an ntr that has no hitbox on her arm meaning if you jump and hit her this is not gonna hurt her [Applause] the arm has no hitbox right so you can kick my arm but i'm still gonna grab your soul ntr's are important in this game they're pretty bad in this game so for her to have it into her is great and she was she was always good at jailing especially before the the poke buffs that was always her attribute and she's still pretty good at it that's what you want to do you always want to jail before you go for combos with shiva so shiva is a good character rambo is a solid character he has bids on almost everything his damage is generally pretty high he has anti-zoning tools which are really impressive so rambo is generally a good character i mean there's nothing else to say he's a pretty good character generally speaking terminator is a good character he's a 50 50 character probably one of the best characters in terms of 50 50s other than sub-zero some people might see he's better than sub-zero maybe um he's pretty he's safe on everything so it's like a 50 50 character that's safe on everything he has a solid mid to start except this mid has no range you really have to be right in front there's a mid he has 50 50s that's what's the frames here 18 frames compared to 19 frames it's unreactable so unreactable 5050s that are safe isn't that incredible so yeah terminator is a 50 50 character his mobility is not the best it's kind of slow a little bit not too too bad i think people exaggerate but uh yeah crazy mix-up character that's robocop for you not robocop got them at terminator garris is an excellent character who used to be actually one of the best in the game but got nerfed so now he's not considered one of the best but he's still pretty good he's a grappler he has command grabs for example this can i get it this is unblockable you have to jump it it's a mid you can't just crouch it ticks as well meaning with some attacks it will still grab it has extremely high damage his crushing blows are absolutely insane in terms of damage for example look at this one 247 for a question below where he struggles a little bit is that he needs to get in his range is not the best like the i'm showing you moves that are good but when you want to combo someone you have to get in in terms of mids he hasn't missed everywhere at this guy his mids are really really good he has 50 50s that's a low compared to a high which leads to a full combo let me show you and it's super high damage so his damage is extremely high he has one of the best anti-zoning tool in the game someone zones you and you want to stop that zoning you can go ahead and get him because of this move here so garrus very very very good used to be one of the best but now just considered really good collector is a normal character he's alright he's not very good not very bad he's just normal he's someone that you probably want to be around here to use this move here but when he's up close he has tools as well ford one which is an amazing amazing stagger only minus one so the difference between this and then people grab like that they can go ahead and do this just don't complete it because it's unsafe it's unsafe on both he has hit confirmable stuff which is pretty easy to react to um he has a mid command grab about this like this this one is a mid command grab i think it ticks it does stick so he's just a good character he's all right he's not bad but you will need to work with him a lot to get him to give you those victories sindel is a very very good character who has really long range attacks like this some attacks that are not as long range but still pretty good some good attacks up close some pretty good staggers actually the difference between this here and this is a little bit difficult to see sometimes she has amazing cancels which makes stuff hard to see her screen crushing blow is there's best crushing glow in the game in my opinion this is a mid and it crushes on counters so let's say that melinda doesn't block the same here you have time to charge up and go for more attack and then you can use the hit advantage to keep going it's a jail he has a low and an overhead starter that's an overhead as well and that's a low so she has 50 50s but they're fair they're pretty fair sandal also has 4 2 4 4 which is a mid which is absolutely amazing one one of the best normal in the game unpunishable except for jade variation tool blazing natural kick the running stance which is actually hard to get the input is pretty hard cindel generally a very good character her damage is pretty goddamn high too [Music] so overall sadele is a very very good character melinda i would consider a low tier character she is still being discovered right now but she has a lot of issues in terms of special cancelling and also in terms of her moves i think she does have a lot of range when i was saying special counseling this move is not special cancelable meaning you can't do a roll right the only thing you can do is kick her like that which is a problem because this attack is one of her best normal which is ford one also it's the only one that jails into down three got an attack she just doesn't have time to duck but the problem is that you can only do this after or you can do this and not attack and try to get them to move because this is a gel for this right so it's not very good the back one one the mid has uh struggles with range one one struggles with range but the damage is not bad at all actually so if we do that 350 but then that's just once right she has good damage but melina in terms of frames she struggles a little bit her friends is not the best she's i wouldn't play her unless you're a pretty advanced player honestly she's kind of difficult she's not the best she's a very good auntie's owner i'm going to give her that this attacker in terms of anti-zoning is very good you can also do that in front of the distance in the in the neutral this actually can get a lot of people but it's a minute it's not low so just beware there's another 50 50 here with these two but they don't lead to four combos so really not not a very good character i would say b or c honestly so far some people might disagree i like the character but she's she's not very good she's not that strong in my opinion i might be wrong cetron is ester she doesn't have a lot of very high damage for example if i do a big condo here one bar damage 209 but she has very interesting things like high pressure she has very long ranging normals this is this is pretty nice in terms of range for standing one two one look at how far that is her mid the 4-2 that's nice range it's a nice stagger too it's a nice footsie tool so sachion is a neutral type of character that whiff punishes you often she'll do things like for example like this and then she backs up it's the backing away the back dash and four two that gets a lot of people her wall is great and full force it's also great just to control the neutral so she commands the neutral in her other variations she's a great zoner she's actually the best owner in the game variation one and variation two it's slow zoning but it's about frame traps this frame traps to enter our some of our other moves arguably top three top four top five or something like that but she's really up there and she's been up there since the start of the game fujin is a good character he's kind of hard to play he's more of an advanced type of character he has a lot of dialing strings he's really hard to uh on execution his heavy execution but he's pretty good in the neutral he's fine up front he has a great mids forward three is one of the best move in the game this normal here so overall a good character not the best but still a good character just very difficult to play not good for beginners alright and when it comes to rain ryan i would say is a fine character mid tier probably he usually needs to be pretty close to start comboing his normal so not that great in terms of range at least not as normal as that lead to combos like he has other normals like these for example that are great for spacing and range but mostly if you want a combo you have to be right up close in terms of frames his frames are pretty normal pretty good he's not minus on too many things his best attribute is just his mobility his ability to dash in and out he's pretty good like he's pretty dangerous dashing forward and grabbing you plus his grab is pretty good because it's so hard to see like grabs your shoulder so it's pretty goddamn hard here this one he grabs like your arm hard to see in tech so anyways this guy is just a really good in terms of mobility he has all sorts of tools when it comes to his special moves for example this is water ball usually good anti-zoning tool if you're able to get them and they're not ducking because it just brings them all the way over back over to you and his other variation he has all sorts of tools like this is an empty wake up tool and stuff anti gap tool this one is an empty error so he has all sorts of things that makes him really interesting so his best attributes are special moves his ability to become all sorts of things his normals are not really good uh they're not bad though and he's just uh he needs a little bit of range but if you're willing to just use special moves in the neutral like this or just one
