[Music] my [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] everybody i am here at the 75 chrome shop truck show 2022 and you know that i meet some of the coolest people with the coolest trucks and i'm hanging out with my buddy mitch white mitch it's great to see you again man what's up yeah hey show us around your cool truck tell us a little bit about who you are what you your family what you guys do and uh take it away my man all right it's a 79 uh cowboy freightliner i've owned it since uh 07 bought it out of iowa drove it back and then just been working on it i just like the old trucks uh my dad had started the company old time express and uh before me my brother we purchased the company four years ago just from a small fleet of trucks fifteen eighteen trucks and uh some and my brother were both driving and i've got two sons and uh one of them brought his truck down a cab over freight liner awesome we'll have to take a look at that a little while yeah all right when i'm running this is what i'm what i'm running uh it's a uh got a big cam cummins i just overhauled it it's probably got 12 000 13 000 on it and uh awesome updated the uh front axle you know it's all hub pilot pilot yep rear brakes and everything sure and i went to a new style uh 13-speed uh faster drive ratio 13 speed right it was originally a 220 wheelbase and uh i stretched it uh it's 20 inches i went from a 220 to a 240. okay i updated it with a 96 model airliner uh suspension nice went to a 390 rear so it runs down the road pretty good i mean yeah 40 45 000 that's awesome so you've updated quite a few things oh yeah and you're working the truck daily oh yeah yeah that's so cool i love it got a new drive line you know it's the bigger drive line uh pilot rears uh it's really the only thing that's old i guess you could say the cab and the uh the engine but uh sure new radiator i mean so it's it's a sound sound truck it's just got its scratches and scrapes but uh i just enjoy getting out and running the truck that's right and you know when it when a machine has a story to tell you know it it wears its battle scarves proudly you know and and you're out there putting more on it which is which is awesome you know yeah we would pull loads down to florida uh to get down here to the show this first show i've ever put the truck in you know i'm just proud of it but uh awesome we gotta load tonight to go back to uh to kentucky uh but i actually i scraped my deck plate you know before the show the other morning delivering gonna make me you know bomb but at the same time you know it's a working truck yeah i know exactly what you mean it's gonna get its scratches and stuff so yeah but that that's what my dad he started in 74 with cab overs and that's mainly what i rode in you know as a kid sure kind of grew to pretty love them you know the old training stars and the uh yeah astros and stuff yeah 100's yep so close yeah that is awesome and it's a truck and family and you said your boys are driving as well that's my me and my brother own the company and then my two uh youngest sons one's 20 one's 22 and they both have their cdl's but they started when they were 14 you know they're in the shop working you know now they're old enough to drive they get out and run but they can also work on their trucks yes so you guys do all your old mechanical work everything in the shop yeah sees i dig that so much man good for you my son if he's on the road something goes wrong you know he carries a tool box you know so he can get it back going you know most of the time but everything you know we do and it's not nothing show worthy but it's uh everything we do we do in our shop ourselves you know yeah there's a lot of pride that goes into the machine that way yeah it just saves us some money but then at the end of the day we can say we've done it yeah that's right that's right i love it so point out a few things i mean you've you mentioned that you updated a lot of things did you do the stretch yourself yes sir that is that's awesome it was right right here actually where it sliced it yeah stretched it from there back it's a 96 model and therefore it's a 79 you know yeah 390 rears and a pilot all the way around so you know i can get a lot of parts your body parts i still have to find salvage yards and stuff sure you have a problem on the road somewhere or something like that it's not an issue to find something transmission come out of 05 model trucks so yeah a lot of the stuff is uh newer uh but yeah i still got a lot i want to do it keep going you know but i kind of like the old look of it uh you know yeah i had you just pin striking on it last night i really really like that we had some fun i i love that we found some old lines that i could just follow along and so we're kind of bringing back what was originally on the truck yeah at some point yeah somebody had advanced right yeah it's found those lines and followed them i love it gives it that yeah just trying to restore what was there before and and keep the truck looking the way it was a little bit oh yeah it was fun i appreciate the opportunity to do it oh yeah i appreciate you your talent and your your ability you know just to keep keep up the work and keep doing it thanks man yeah can we peek up inside yeah that's nothing i mean nothing shows worth it like i say it's just a work truck you know it's still all original with the interior and that picture there was just a few weeks after i got it uh so that's before we had that that's awesome used to have a center there we go okay you know under the front end and yes it was shorter with all steel wheels and old tanks and stuff sure which is smart oh yeah yeah the other ones was all beat up and vented sure so what uh what's your favorite part of the truck what do you like the most or do you have a favorite maybe i should say it that way honestly either the front you know the the headlights just the old you know the old look to it and the interior yes freightliner you know used to have a pretty nice interior yeah you kind of got away from it and uh went to just more of a fleet interior and then you have a nice diamond tube yeah it can work but uh so back in the day freightliner you know they they ran right there with kenworth and peterbilt in my opinion i agree yeah that is really really cool i really like the truck you know and no power steering you know but oh is that all right manual steering you know running down the road it's uh it drives real good going down the road they don't shimmy shake vibrate or nothing yeah you get in a tight spot you don't put a trailer in a dock it gets a little short a little tight but uh no it's it's fine ac i got the ac it frees you out that's awesome yeah keep you cool now is it a is it a piece that you do you add it on for ac or it was it was already there and you just factor your factory air yeah okay it's actually in the headliner so uh they were separate back in the day yeah you know the ac was up there and then the uh uh in the dash you know i put in your compressor in the jar and stuff on it okay so you kind of rebuilt that a little bit yeah yeah yeah that's all the factory repair that's so cool yeah just and i like tinkering with a truck too you know yeah i had a new one wouldn't be able to tank her exactly well cool well i'm so glad that you're carrying on the tradition of you know what appreciating what an old truck is and where it came from the stories that it has to tell you growing up around him with your dad and now you're passing that on to your boys and you guys are getting dirty and you're doing the work yourselves and you're you're passing that tradition on i really admire that and so do the folks on this channel that's what this is about to get to run down the road you know with your kids you know doing oh yeah you know doing the same thing and then the other night you know they went in there and bought a couple lights you know they were out here under the truck you know put some more lights under their truck yeah yeah it's just neat to see that i'm really proud of it sure is yeah i love it get several miles on it i i don't have a clue how many but uh sure i'll keep adding them as long as i can right so you're not really sure how many original miles it has on the truck but you just keep keep racking them up keep on putting them on there attaboy love it well mitch thank you for the uh the tour and and it's great to get to get to know you better i appreciate it man i appreciate what you doing keep doing it all right man thank you much [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] so
