time ever ticking away each moment here for an instant than gone forever there's probably not one of us who at least once hasn't wished to go back in time and relive a treasured memory Colorado resident Betty Darnay was no different but unlike most of us she was given a chance to miraculously find something infinitely precious that she had left behind a long long time at age 30 Betty was well established in her career as an efficient and well respected deputy sheriff working in western Colorado Betty loved her work was absolutely caught up in it to the exclusion of just about everything else thoughts of marriage and having her own family were pretty much pushed aside someday maybe but deep down that he still carried emotional scars of her own childhood early on a Tuesday evening Betty was doing some household chores when a deceptively innocent event set a miracle in motion as an abused child and product of a broken home Betty was made a ward of the Midwestern state where she was born and raised at age five she was placed in a series of foster homes while a lengthy court procedure determined her legal custody the first people she was placed with was a childless couple she remembered only as Frank and Mary they were the first loving mother and father she recalls though the authorities moved her to other foster homes and she lost all contact with Frank and Mary the memories of those happy times never left especially her young foster mother's words of faith and hope the clouds must burst and rain my dear before we see the rainbow clear sometimes we have to go through a storm first to get to the things we really like then everything is all better again over the next few days Betty experienced something that's happened to us all sometimes with a song lyric or a phrase or simply a musical tune it sticks in our mind and plays over and over like a broken record for Betty it was the remembered words of foster mother clouds must burst and rain my dear before we see the rainbow clear they tried to dismiss the repeated recollection but days passed and it still stuck with her sometimes just when she thought it wouldn't return there would be an encounter that pushed it to the front of her mind again ah Bobby how can you eat those things next week schedules in you're off the sixth and seventh any problem with that okay six of seven it's must burst and rain my dear any problems no the seventh are fine are you alright yeah no I'm fine I just got this thing about rainbows keeps popping out can't seem to get out of my mind Albert Pass don't sweat it officer officer officer I guess I must have rolled through that sign without stopping all the way if my mind must have been on something else I'm sorry well there's a lot of traffic at this intersection let's try to be a little more careful next time yes yes I will I'll do that Bangkok for more than a week it seemed like everywhere that he went where she looked it was rainbows she just couldn't clear her mind of it she was beginning to think it had some larger meaning but she hadn't a clue as to what it could be three days later events took another unexpected turn an elderly couple traveling through Colorado pulled off the interstate before looking for a campground for the night they decided to find the nearby laundromat to wash several loads of dirty clothes they shouldn't take too long about an hour I think if you're going to be a while I'm going to try to get a nap in I guess don't forget to lock the door okay at 2:30 Betty was scheduled to pick up paperwork at the courthouse although she knew the way practically blindfolded she had inexplicably taken a wrong turn Betty pulled over the weight retracted to clear so she could turn around once again she had an unexpected encounter with another rainfall you were looking so much better they tell me you're gonna be fine have you been behaving yourself well again the nurse tells me you're doing just fine today just a little too much smoke in my lungs he is doing just fine thanks to you well we're just lucky I happened by when I did I'm not usually on that Street like you say there's usually a reason for these things just another storm for us to effort that's all the clouds must burst and rain my dear before we see the rainbow clear I didn't get your names yesterday I'm Frank mayor and this is Mary how did you Frank it's our Betty they took you away from you so much oh Jesus miracles take place for timing and events inexplicably fall together beyond probability but clearly not without reason there does seem to be a grand design and purpose as to just when and where these wonders work and the selection of who deserves
