expected to reduce travel time from tagum city to digo city from 3.5 hours to 1.3 hours once it starts operating in 2022 the mrp tdd is expected to not only make travel faster but also safer more convenient and comfortable for passengers in the sid corridor the mrp tdd segment will have eight stations namely tagum station located in barangay mankilam tagom city carmen station in barangay singh carmen davo del norte panabo station in barangay datto abdul davos station located in langob davao city battle station to be located in barangay battle to real davao city santa cruz station to be located at barangay zone 4 santa cruz davao del sur and daigo station in barangay digo city upon project completion the dotr expects the daily ridership of the tagum davao degu segment to increase to 134 thousand sixty by twenty twenty two the department projects the daily ridership to further increase to two hundred thirty seven thousand twenty three by twenty thirty two and three hundred seventy five thousand one four by year 2042 [Music] the mrp tdd segment was initially proposed as two-tracked electric powered rail line however upon serious consideration from neta board it was downgraded to single track diesel type railway system with provisions for future tracks and electrification upon recommendation of the house committee on internal affairs during the 2021 budget hearing last november for it to be eventually upgraded to two-track electric powered railway system in the future the committee also approved a resolution directing the national economic development authority and the department of transportation to submit a feasibility study on the project to be conducted simultaneously instead of face by face department of transportation under secretary femuty john batan told the salons during the previous hearing that so far only phase one of the project has a detailed feasibility study a detailed visibility study which cost tens of millions of pesos according to asekbatan is needed before actual construction can take place to give an idea of the needed funds the national economic and development authority previously made a baseline feasibility study on the envisioned three-phase mindanao railway project which cost the agency 50 million pesos the department of transportation said that the initial proposed three-phase mindanao railway project was further subdivided into 10 proposed segments the said railway segments which will be built in stages will connect major cities in mindanao via circumferential railway and spur lines connecting outlying cities and provinces the mrp circumferential line spanning over 800 kilometers and eventually form part of the circular loop will be built in five stages mrp phase one is the 102 kilometer rail segment which runs from talgum city towards davao city and terminating indigo city mrp phase 2 will be 150 kilometer rail line connecting digo city general santos city and marbell mrp phase 3 will be a 214 kilometer rail segment connecting tagum city and butuan city mrp phase 4 will have to be decided as options being considered and total length yet to be determined nmrp phase 5 spanning 170 kilometers connecting bouton city and kagayandi oro city meanwhile phase 6 to 10 will be the construction of 899 kilometers mrp spur lines namely 216 kilometers cagayan the oro iligan pagadian segment 242 kilometers pagadian cotabato kabakan digus segment 122 kilometer pagadian di pollock segment 222 kilometer pagadian zamboanga segment and the 97 kilometer boutus segment according to dotr under secretary timothy john bataan it may take 10 to 15 the combined terms of at least two philippine presidents before the whole mindanao railway project gets completed [Music] plans for an island-wide railway dates back in the 1930s and the railway was reconsidered in the 1990s but it is only in 2016 upon the election the first mindanao and philippine president rodrigo duterte win minded our railway project was seriously considered and given priority as one of the flagship project under the build build build program [Music] once completed the mindanao railway project will not only expand the country's railway network and provide reliable efficient and convenient mass transport system for the mindanao ones but also will boost inter-island connectivity and will enable increased trade
