Midnight's and Paris is going to buy and written by Woody Allen this is a 2011 film quite a while ago and I finally got the chance to watch it once again it's a very heartfelt film and this film stars Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams they are an engaged couple and they're quite different if I would say so myself Owen Wilson plays the role of Jill he is a screenwriter and he's forced to confront the relationship between himself and his fiancee and who I would describe as quite materialistic to be honest she just forces him to do stuff they doesn't really want to do go places that he doesn't really want to go he likes to be by himself quite a bit and which explains why he takes all these midnight strolls in Paris they are visiting the place in Paris and one night he takes a midnight stroll which allows him to travel back in time to the late 1920s and so this film explores the themes of nostalgia and which is why his character goes back in time in the nineteen twenties he believes that the 1920s is the Golden Age of that era it is the golden age is where he would most likely be in and that's the best thing about this film this film perfectly describes what nostalgia can do to a person because like all of us I am sure that most of us would love to go back in time or the future but the present is just the present present can be quite dull and just sort of ongoing and nothing really is going on that's how old Wilson feels in this film he wants to go back because he believes that the 1920s is the best error much like how all of us would feel as if the past would be much better and the people that he surrounds himself with are just incredible the actors that portray these roles are just fantastic I saw Tom Hiddleston for example playing scott Fitzgerald and that was great that was a really exciting time because I'm a huge fan of Great Gatsby and it was great to see that and screen and Tom he wasn't perfectly and saying old sport and it was awesome that was that was fantastic there were people like with Scott Fitzgerald and Pablo Picasso and TS Eliot's an Ernest Hemingway and it was just it was just a very it was a very interesting take on how the 1920s will be and I just loved how original and unique this film was Woody Allen is known to be in my opinion quite inconsistent when making films one time he would make a fantastic film and then another one not so much and then another one it's okay and then it just comes back we would with a classic film like this and this is one of his finest films of his entire career it's fantastic I love this film Owen Wilson is so good in this film watching him just go back in time and saying wow 1920s you know parish so beautiful when it's raining I'm just working on am working on a novel right now you know and whether hey my you know it's in the 1920s Wow Hemingway like do I love all your book you know all of them that way girl yeah that's pretty name yeah it's a pretty name I don't know if I should keep that no that's good I'm keeping that yeah there is one scene in in the film where he is with scott Fitzgerald and Zelda as well both the Fitzgerald's and they go to this entertainment place a pub a bar and over there he sees the character of Josephine Baker who who was and dancer and entertainer back in the day was a singer as well back in the 20s and he has his facial expression the whole time about ten to thirty seconds is just him just going [Music] that made me laugh that we did make me laugh because I would do the same thing but because there's Owen Wilson it just brought another an element to it that was even more funnier and so much more relatable because he's so likeable in his film you just can't help but just get behind him already the relationship in his chemistry with Rachel McAdams is so different and just they're just so unlike each other and sometimes it can get quite frustrating because a person like Owen Wilson's character would not be with a person like Rachel McAdams it's so deep when you look at his cardona's background the fact that he is a very successful Hollywood screenwriter but he's quite creatively unfulfilled he doesn't want to go back to that he doesn't wanna go back to America he wants to stay in Paris he wants to start a new life he wants to be a writer he wants to write novels and he looks up to these legends in the 1920s era because he's so unfulfilled in his present he just wants to run away to the past and it's that's that idea that's what makes him like one because it's so relatable the theme of nostalgia is just hinted at so perfectly in this film that's why this film is loved by so many people in it and it's got a massive following this film made me want to just go back and read the history of the 20s it makes me want to go back to and read the issue of arts and you know look at what Pablo Picasso did and what kind of relationships that he had with a person of Adrian who was played by Marion Cotillard she does an incredible job in this film she's stunning and the chemistry between her and Owen Wilson is so it's done so beautifully and it's just so pleasing to watch that these characters on screen and there was one character that I was quite excited to see actually he was a Salvador Dali when he keeps laying le Dulli yes yep the remember I was I was I was really entertained by that and it was just so great to see the Spanish so surrealist be in his film because I studied film and I've studied a lot of surrealism and most of his films have been the main subject of that and it was just really interesting to just watch that on screen one of the main reason as to why Watson's character is so likable is because he just gets absolutely negative stuff from his fiancee who never never wants to agree with what he is saying that never wants to be on his side she just wants him to not move to Paris not do any of that go back to his successful Hollywood screenwriting stuff that he just doesn't want to do it's just so incredible for him to react in this way of interacting with all these great people from that era and then go back and wake up in his present era and say no and actually happened you know I was talking with him and you know Wow and I think one of the main things that I got that I agree with but I I relate to and it was just told so beautifully and that's one of the things that I have to just give massive props to dialogue in the screenplay is flawless is perfect I loved it it was just so soothing to hear all these characters say these beautiful things but that's the point that one of the big things that I really got upon this film Joe's character loves the 20s that's his era that's that's that's the era that he looks up to but then everyone else thinks that the late 1800s is the place to be and that's the message that that I got then the matter whichever you're from you would always want to go back to the past or even the future and see how things panned out not really no one really wants to stay in the present and it was just told in such a fantastical way having said all this I do have one particular flaw with the film and I can't in good conscience about it unless I go into spoiler territory so for the people who have not seen his film I urge you to go see it and right after I give my grade I will talk about that floor but having said all of this I think Midnight in Paris is a beautiful film and I'm gonna give Midnight in Paris and a but having said all this this film is almost perfect in my opinion I just think that the ending so spoilers by the way the ending I think could have been handled just a little bit better don't get me wrong I love the ending I think it's perfect I think well what I did was absolutely correct but I think in terms of emotion the way they closed out the relationship between Rachel McAdams character and Owen Wilson's and how they break up was just a bit too sudden and I think more emotion could have been poured out to it the way that Rachel McAdams character leaves and is written out could have been handled just a little bit better I didn't really expect it to just end all of a sudden and although I understand why they did that because no one really particularly likes the audience would not particularly enjoy Rachel McAdams as character no one really liked her which is why they made that choice but I'm talking about that ending between Owen Wilson and the girl the the the lovely the lovely girl who he meets and who he likes I wanted one more scene I just wanted one more few more minutes from him because I was really enjoying it so if you haven't seen it already please do watch it it's a very different film and it's a very it's just a very unique one and I just really enjoyed watching it I've been thinking about it for quite some time some of the quotes in the film are fantastic I love them thank you for watching guys and I'll see you very soon you
