Midjourney Relax Mode vs. Fast Mode Explained

you might have come across the terms fast mode and relax mode in mid-journey and while fast and relaxed sound like pretty good words to me [Music] using relax mode can be a massive Game Changer so in the next couple of minutes I'll explain exactly what they are and I'll also show you how you can benefit from them [Music] you may have noticed that your mid-journey account comes with a certain amount of so-called fast GPU time well the gist of it is generating AI art requires a lot of processing power and gpus rather than CPUs are what is primarily used for AI models so what else does this remind you of that's right Bitcoin mining so does that mean AI art is killing the planet foreign good question but that's for another day anyway so every time you enter a prompt some of that precious GPU time is being consumed how much exactly well according to estimates about 0.85 minutes for every imagine command about 0.28 minutes every time you generate additional variations about 1.1 minute on each upscale and if you upscale all the way to the max it's about 1.48 minutes holy so since your free trial only comes with 25 minutes and the basic plan also only comes with around 200 minutes chances are you won't get very far and this is exactly where relax mode comes into play whenever you're using relax mode none of your commands will use any of your fast GPU time so in other words you can generate an unlimited amount of images that's right as many as you want and guess what it's not even that much slower but I'm afraid there is a catch actually there's two catches first of all only standard and pro members have access to relax time which will cost you around 30 to 50 dollars a month furthermore relax mode is not meant to be used for upscaling sure go ahead and give it a try but you're going to have to wait for a very long time hmm so here's what most people do they use relax mode to experiment with various prompts and once they find something they really like they switch back to fast mode for upscaling and that is literally the most efficient approach okay okay I get it but how do I switch between fast and relaxed mode well that's actually super easy to do to activate relax mode simply enter front slash relax and to switch back to fast mode enters front slash fast easy enough isn't it technically you could also do this via the settings panel but that's really kind of slow so now you know the difference between fast and relax mode if you're still on the fence whether you should upgrade to a higher plan or not don't worry there are other ways to save your precious fast GPU time and I share some of these methods right here on this channel take care foreign [Music]
