Microphone pre amps on drums. Do they make a difference?

hello and welcome to Stein's youtuber mic preamps on drums do they really make a difference in this video I will be testing six microphone preamps all from pretty cheap to not so cheap [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] on the kick drum snare drum and two toms and we'll see if we can hear the difference I will not talk much in this video I will let the drums do the talking [Music] just what Nick just said so I'll hope you enjoy this video please click subscribe and comment in the comment section which one you preferred on different drums [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] what I wasn't gonna say much but as usual I can't help myself I've tried six different preamps and also a line in my audio interface and the line in it sounded nice a bit flat and dull but it's acceptable sounds good enough if you have good enough microphones and nice tuned drum it's good enough the behringer ad a 8000 was a little bit better but something in the top and the bottom and sounds a bit artificial it's not bad this is just something there I can't put my finger on as I said sounds a bit artificial the 88 8200 sounds like this it's an improved version of the 8000 and it sounds better a bit warmer not too bad it works the army fireface audio interface sounds really good it has four built-in mic preamps so it's good enough for a lot of everyday recording and demos and pre productions and stuff it's good enough and the Focusrite sounds well just about the same as the fireface and that one has eight mic preamps so those two combined really powerful home studio tool it will make your drum sound good if you have good microphones and the drums are well tuned of course the universal audio solo 6/10 it has a tube inside and it sounds really nice maybe a little bit boo me but for kick drum sounds really it sounds great my favourite preamp of all these were actually the old TC I don't know what it just a little bit more juice to the tone so I'm definitely going to use that on the snare from now on on the main mic on the snare because when I mic my drum set I triple mic both my kick drum and my snare drum so the main microphone on the snare drum will be through that easy so there you have it I hope you used headphones or at least some decent speakers please comment in the comment section if there was anything you noticed or which one you like the best and please click Subscribe and you know all that so I'll see you next time thanks for watching but [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music]
