however we physicists say that the Universe was created in a big bang 13.7 billion years ago but then the question is why did it bang what set off the bang [Music] for as long as we've been studying science and the history of our universe the Big Bang has been the explanation for it all there have been hundreds of studies thousands of scientists have worked on the research and from what data has always said the Big Bang has been the leading theory that proved How the Universe was made that energy is dark energy there is an energy source even bigger than galactic and dark energy is the energy of the Big Bang is the anti-gravitational force that's creating the expanding universe but science today is a lot different than what it was back in the day and with technological improvements come new theories and more often than not we find out that things we believed to be 100 True are far from it and well it might have just happened again Michio Kaku is finally talking about it the Big Bang has officially been debunked as the James Webb Telescope has detected 750 new galaxies and they're nothing like what they should be join us as we dig deeper into what the James Webb Telescope found and how it changes everything we thought about the way the universe came into being first glance the images of the new galaxies that were taken by the jws telescope look absolutely breathtaking in a good way you can see hundreds of galaxies all in the same frame and the sheer power in the photos is something you just can't ignore but that's what things look like to the average person for researchers things are the total opposite these pictures are surprising to say the least they don't match what scientists thought they would see based on their theories in fact they're seeing way more galaxies than expected and these galaxies are different in some surprising ways they're smooth smaller than imagined and really old all these surprises are causing a bit of a panic among the scientists one paper even starts with the word panic in its title so you know things are serious the galaxies look nothing like what they're supposed to scientists have put forward the Big Bang Theory as the leading explanation for the origins of our vast universe according to this theory around 14 billion years ago the universe came into existence through some sort of mysterious Cosmic event it's the ultimate birth story of the cosmos the surprising nature of the images captured by the James Webb Space Telescope has challenged scientists understanding of the universe's Origins the hypothesis that these images directly contradict is the Big Bang hypothesis which has long been regarded as an unquestionable Truth by the majority of cosmological theorists these galaxies appear to be too small too smooth too old and too numerous when compared to the predictions of the Big Bang hypothesis the small size of the observed galaxies entirely contradicts the expected behavior in an expanding universe according to the hypothesis as the universe expands objects should appear larger with increasing distance yet the jwst images show galaxies that are two to three times smaller than similar galaxies observed using the Hubble Space Telescope this discrepancy challenges the notion of an expanding Universe our universe expanding we don't actually Envision that the universe is expanding into some pre-existing container there's also the fact that the smoothness of these galaxies is totally unexpected The Big Bang Theory suggests that galaxies should exhibit irregularities and variations in their structures due to the Dynamics of their formation and evolution however the jwst images reveal galaxies that appear unusually smooth lacking the expected level of complexity and roughness which is what you'd normally expect to see in the images the age of The observed galaxies also seems to be incredibly strange here the jwst observations indicate the presence of galaxies that appear to be unexpectedly old this challenges the expected timeline of Galaxy formation and evolution within the framework of The Big Bang Theory plus there's also the fact that the abundance of observed galaxies is a lot higher than what it was supposed to be the big bang hypothesis predicts a certain distribution and density of galaxies based on the expansion and evolution of the universe but the jwst images show a massive number of galaxies which raises questions about the accuracy of the predictions made by the hypothesis according to the Big Bang Theory at the very beginning of the universe all matter energy and the building blocks of the cosmos were compressed into an extremely tiny and highly concentrated point this point is called a singularity this is a point where infinite density exists when we say infinite density we mean that the matter and energy within this Singularity were squeezed together to such an extent that their density reached an infinitely high value the concept of a singularity comes from our current understanding of the laws of physics particularly the equations of general relativity proposed by Albert Einstein within the singularity all the matter and energy in the universe existed in an extraordinarily compressed form the extreme density implies that an enormous amount of mass and energy was concentrated within an infinitesimally small space while the space isn't much of a problem here when there's so much pressure and density you've got unimaginable heat the temperature within the singularity would exceed any temperature that can be observed or reproduced in our current understanding of the universe the energy stored within this hot dense point was the seed from which the entire universe would unfold that's why the singularity marked the beginning of the universe as we know it it was the origin which everything in our Cosmos came from after the initial Singularity the universe started the Journey of expansion and inflation this process occurred over the course of approximately 13.7 billion years shaping the universe as we know it today the expansion of the universe started with an extraordinary burst of Rapid expansion known as Cosmic inflation during this phase the universe expanded at an unimaginable rate far exceeding the speed of light it's like the fabric of space itself was stretching and stretching taking everything within it along for the ride Cosmic inflation played a massive role in shaping the large-scale structure of the universe it smoothed out irregularities homogenized the distribution of matter and energy and set the stage for the subsequent formation of galaxies stars and other Cosmic structures as the universe continued to expand the rate of expansion gradually slowed down but with this information it's important to note that even though the initial period of cosmic inflation ended the universe continued to expand at a measurable rate this ongoing expansion is known as the expansion of the universe or Cosmic expansion scientists have observed the effects of this expansion through various observations such as the redshift of light from distant galaxies the redshift indicates that as the universe expands light waves get stretched and shifted towards longer wavelengths shifting them towards the red end of the spectrum while the expansion was happening we basically had all the stuff that makes up our universe squeezed into an incredibly small volume it was clear that matter cannot survive in space like this so something had to give as the universe expanded and cooled down Transformations took place particles such as protons neutrons and electrons began to interact with light and energy in their surroundings these interactions played a pivotal role in shaping the formation of matter in the universe during the first few minutes after the big bang There was a process called nucleosynthesis this process involved the creation of lightweight elements like hydrogen and helium the extreme temperatures and conditions during this phase allowed for the fusion of protons and neutrons to form these simple Atomic building blocks hydrogen the simplest and most abundant element in the universe was formed primarily during this early period helium the second most abundant element also emerged during this time these elements were instrumental in setting the stage for the formation of stars galaxies and more complex elements that would come later in Cosmic history the synthesis of these Elemental building blocks was a significant milestone in the evolution of the universe from a primordial sea of particles and energy the early Universe transitioned into a state where matter actually began to take shape this process was what laid the foundation for the rich diversity of matter and the vast Cosmic structures that eventually came into being Now The Big Bang Theory might seem like wordplay is supported by a lot of compelling evidence uh the Big Bang was an interesting event but not the first event in the totality of reality one of the most significant pieces of evidence for the Big Bang Theory is the discovery of the cosmic microwave background the CMB is a faint radiation that fills the entire universe and represents the Afterglow of the Big Bang this Cosmic radiation was first detected in 1965 and has since been studied extensively the characteristics of the CMB align closely with the predictions made by The Big Bang Theory providing strong confirmation of its validity The observed pattern of the CMB radiation including its uniformity and temperature distribution supports the idea that the Universe was once in an extremely hot and dense State before undergoing expansion which as we've discussed earlier on in the video was one of the main things that happened during the Big Bang the presence of the CMB provides a remarkable glimpse into the early stages of the universe serving as a direct echo of the initial moments following the Big Bang its Discovery and subsequent analysis have played a crucial role in cementing The Big Bang Theory as the perfect explanation for the origins of the cosmos in addition to the CMB other lines of evidence further proved The Big Bang Theory you've got things like the observations of the redshift of light from distant galaxies that provide evidence of the expanding Universe too the observation that galaxies are moving away from one another in all directions suggest that the universe is continuously expanding as predicted by the theory the abundance of Light Elements such as hydrogen and helium found throughout the cosmos is also consistent with the predictions of The Big Bang Theory but not just that the large-scale distribution of galaxies which is something that was revealed through astronomical surveys matches the predicted patterns emerging from The Big Bang Theory as astronomers have meticulously observed and mapped the cosmos they have discovered a striking pattern the clustering of galaxies and the overall structure of the universe galaxies tend to congregate together in vast groups clusters and super clusters forming intricate networks that extend across the cosmos this observed large-scale structure aligns with the predictions made by The Big Bang Theory we can also unlock the secrets of the Big Bang according to the theory the universe began as an incredibly dense and hot State and over time it expanded and cooled as the universe expanded gravity played a pivotal role in shaping the distribution of matter and the formation of galaxies the gravitational effects predicted by The Big Bang Theory are consistent with what we observe today gravity draws matter together causing galaxies to Cluster in certain regions and form intricate filamentary structures that connect them these structures reveal the cosmic web-like pattern of the universe the presence of these Galaxy clusters and the interconnected web of matter provides strong support for The Big Bang Theory the formation of galaxies and their distribution Across the Universe aligns with the gravitational effects expected from the initial dense and expanding state posited by the theory the clustering of galaxies the cosmic web-like structure and the distribution of Galaxy clusters all come together to support the idea that the Universe has evolved from a primordial state of extreme density and has undergone expansion over billions of years so when you take another look at the size of the galaxies the James Webb Telescope found you can really see how the images portray a completely opposite reality to what we've always thought was our reality according to Big Bang theorists these tiny galaxies grow and evolve into the larger galaxies we observe today through a process of collisions and mergers to make it easier to think about this hypothetical scenario you can think about the individual galaxies as a magical toy car one that starts as a centimeter long vehicle but grows into a full-size SUV by colliding with numerous other toy cars gaining size as it goes but the thing is that the observations made by the James Webb Space Telescope have cast doubt on this proposed merger process if we were to believe the toy car analogy one would expect to see at least some evidence of collisions or dents if you will in the interacting galaxies the Big Bang theorists themselves anticipated observing galaxies that were mangled and scrambled due to multiple collisions however the jwst images present a different story instead of chaotic and disheveled galaxies the images reveal overwhelmingly smooth discs and well-organized spiral forms resembling the galaxies we see in the present-day Universe this unexpected observation challenges the notion that mergers are a common process in the evolution of galaxies because it's clear that these new galaxies haven't gone through any of the hardships that you'd normally expect if you were following the Big Bang Theory if there are actually just a few or no mergers happening out there it becomes implausible for tiny galaxies to grow and become hundreds of times larger this implies that these galaxies were never originally tiny to begin with along with it the optical illusion predicted by the expanding Universe hypothesis where objects appear smaller with increasing distance due to expansion also doesn't exist so everything we've been believing this entire time was nothing but a lie as we've touched on briefly earlier on in the video the age and abundance of galaxies revealed by the James Webb Space Telescope also challenged the validity of The Big Bang Theory the jwst is equipped with filters that allow it to capture images in the infrared part of the spectrum and with that astronomers can study the colors of distant galaxies a lot easier than ever before by analyzing the colors they can estimate the ages of the Stars Within These galaxies young hot Stars emit blue light while older cooler stars like our sun emit yellow or red light a star's lifespan and its ultimate fate by its mass Stars Burn through their fuel and may only live a few million years less massive stars like our sun use their fuel more slowly and stick around for 10 billion years or more so the color here isn't just an aesthetic thing it actually helps determine the age straight off the bat according to the Big Bang Theory the most distant galaxies captured by the jwst should represent a picture of the universe around 400 500 million years after its origin but the problem is that some of these galaxies exhibit Stellar populations that are already over a billion years old this is actually a major problem here because according to the theory nothing should have originated before the Big Bang itself the existence of galaxies with ages predating the Big Bang contradicts the fundamental premise of the theory suggesting that the Big Bang didn't actually happen and that everything didn't come from it proponents of The Big Bang Theory anticipated that as the jwst peered further into space and back in time the number of observable galaxies would decrease eventually leading to a dark age in the cosmos if you rewind things back far enough there should be a point where nothing existed at all but from what the recent research shows even if you go back a few hundred million years after the hypothetical Big Bang galaxies as massive as The Milky Way are common the authors of the study assert that the jwst images reveal at least one hundred thousand times more galaxies at redshifts greater than 10 than what was predicted by theorists the sheer abundance of these large galaxies within such a short time frame challenges the plausibility of The Big Bang Theory but here's where things get even more interesting based on the current body of scientific literature The Big Bang Theory is associated with 16 incorrect predictions and only one accurate prediction concerning the abundance of deuterium which is an isotope of hydrogen so the odds aren't looking great here and what's worse is that this isn't the only incorrect prediction either there's also the big Bang's estimation of helium abundance which is off by a factor of two and its prediction for the abundance of lithium which is off by a factor of 20 which is just downright massive it doesn't even end here though the theory fails to explain various phenomena such as the absence of the anticipated illusion where objects should appear smaller with increasing distance that's alarming because there's literally the presence of large-scale structures that wouldn't have had enough time to form since the Big Bang plus there are also all of the predictions regarding the density of matter in the universe and recognized asymmetries in the cosmic microwave background that defy theoretical logic these are just a few examples of the numerous contradictions challenging The Big Bang Theory despite these significant inconsistencies it's actually quite interesting that the collapse of the Big Bang hypothesis hasn't really been widely acknowledged in major media Outlets with something this massive you'd expect the blowback to be all over the news and social media alike but we've got absolutely nothing this lack of attention can be because of The Emperor's New Clothes effect you see questioning the Big Bang Theory often leads to scientists being labeled as unintelligent or unfit for their profession it's a classic if you don't even understand the most basic concept what are you even doing here thing what makes things even worse is the fact that funding for cosmology research mainly relies on a small number of government sources that are controlled by committees dominated by supporters of The Big Bang Theory in an environment like that those who openly challenge the theory end up struggling to secure funding for their research which gets in the way of progress in firstly their own research even if it has nothing to do with the Big Bang Theory and at the same time means that there will basically be no Headway in addressing the flaws that seem to be inherent in the prevailing scientific framework years ago if researchers were able to finance their own cosmology research as a secondary Pursuit they still had the opportunity to publish heretical papers so those who could afford to go against the grain could actually make a difference but the system would block them too those papers were often disregarded by the established cosmological Community as the crisis within the field of cosmology became obvious in 2019 The cosmological Establishment has rallied to protect the failing Big Bang Theory through censorship as it lacks alternative defenses it has now become exceedingly difficult to publish papers that are critical of The Big Bang Theory in astronomical journals so even if someone were to write a paper chances are it would never really see the light of day this brings us to a bit of a Crossroads here if the Big Bang Theory isn't actually accurate how could the universe form believe it or not there are actually a few theories that could explain the whole thing the steady state theory is one of the most popular ones that proposes an alternative explanation for the nature and origin of the universe according to this Theory the universe is in a perpetual and unchanging State meaning it has existed forever and will continue to exist indefinitely unlike the Big Bang Theory which suggests a point where the universe began the steady state Theory suggests that it's always been there one of the key aspects of the steady state theory is the concept of continuous creation it proposes that matter is constantly being created throughout the Universe to compensate for the apparent expansion of space in other words as galaxies and other celestial objects move away from each other new matter is continuously generated to fill in the gaps and maintain a consistent density of matter in the universe this idea of continuous creation serves as a way to explain the observed expansion of the universe without the need for a singular event like the big bang the process is thought to happen uniformly across the vast expanse of space ensuring that the overall structure and properties of the universe remain relatively constant over time the universe has a very delicate balance and this would be a great way to keep it all in check but that doesn't mean that this is the only explanation we've got there's also the concept of Eternal inflation which introduces the idea that our universe is just a single component within a much larger Multiverse a concept we've all recently become incredibly familiar with thanks to pop culture but there's also the fact that pop culture almost always takes an idea that does exist and adds some Flair to it according to the theory the Multiverse consists of numerous bubble universes each with its own unique set of physical laws and properties these bubble universes exist alongside each other occupying separate regions within the broader Multiverse the key feature of the Eternal inflation theory is inflation which refers to the rapid expansion of the universe that is thought to have occurred shortly after the big bang in this Theory inflation is not a one-time event limited to the early stages of our universe's existence but an ongoing process that continues to take place in specific regions of the Multiverse during periods of inflation certain regions within the Multiverse experience rapid and exponential expansion this expansion is so intense that it leads to the creation of new bubble universes within those regions each newly formed Universe within the Multiverse possesses its own distinct physical laws constants and properties resulting in a vast collection of diverse universes to address these guests Ellen invented the theory of cosmic inflation inflation describes how our universe was created from a tiny seed of a strange self-replicating substance the concept of Eternal inflation does offer a pretty good explanation for the existence of multiple universes and the remarkable diversity observed in our own universe but a kind of a mix of the two is the cyclic Universe model which proposes a pattern in which the universe undergoes a series of repetitive cycles each cycle begins with a big bang a tremendous explosion that marks the birth of a new universe and concludes with a big crunch a dramatic collapse where the universe contracts back into a highly dense and hot state in this model the Universe goes through a phase of expansion following the initial Big Bang during this expansion galaxies stars and other Cosmic structures form and the universe gradually becomes larger and less dense but the expansion eventually slows down and reverses Direction due to the force of gravity exerted by the matter and energy in the universe as the expansion slows down the universe enters a phase of contraction known as the Big Crunch during this phase the universe becomes increasingly compressed and denser leading to a highly compact state eventually all matter and energy in the universe are concentrated into a singularity a point of infinite density and temperature following the Big Crunch a new cycle begins with another big bang the process repeats itself leading to an eternal cycle of expansion contraction and rebirth each cycle is thought to be similar in terms of the physical laws and properties governing the universe allowing for the repetition of cosmic Evolution and the emergence of galaxies stars and other structures in a way this could explain the new galaxies that have been detected maybe they were part of a new cycle that we just happened to catch could this be the indefinite proof we needed to debunk The Big Bang Theory let us know which side of the argument you've landed on in the comments below if you like this video please give it a thumbs up and like always we'll see you in the next one
