all right so we got some fun it's jumping I was talking to a guy right and I might sound creepy for some people who died soon first time my church like he was talking to the lore like it wasn't like we was sitting at a table well we were I was at a table actually anyway so X God I was like yo who you want me to say to the people what he want minute and literally he said this he said I want you to tell them that I love them like thrilled so you need to receive that like God literally told me to tell you that he loves you like through so I'm except the music today was great too y'all notice that gateway got some of the best lip syncing you ever gonna find anywhere come Cash's amazing I was like wow just lines up perfectly it was great man so what I'm gonna do basically is I'm gonna tell you my story but I'm a I'm a I'm gonna recap a little bit of my story and I'm gonna pick up with some things that I didn't tell you cuz story is still happening so when I was 7 years old for those going on when I was seven years old my grandmother used to force me to go to church and it was miserable you couldn't laugh at church she's not the place laugh surgeries is miserable one time I laugh this lady was jumping around in her wig fell off stuff was the stearic where I'm seven years old I go to church dude is on stage and he is angry at everybody and I figured he was angry cause he had some phlegm caught in his throat cuz at the end of every sentence he would always try to get it out he'd be like the Lord said oh my grandma you need to gargle or something grandma I don't understand what's going on he had a Bible in his hand - he kept playing like he was going throw it at people we'd be like if everybody would get scared it'd be like hey man hey man I realize now they were saying hey man I didn't know bro I was seven years old alright fast forward 14 years old instead of forcing me to go to church my grandmother did some different she asked me if I wanted to go well let me back home first there's probably some people here we already mess around with church too much because the people were weird or they a lot of hypocrites at church it's true it's also a lot of hypocrites at Walgreens they all over the place here's what Zig Ziglar said right Zig Ziglar was dope dude was dope right he said um let me see if I can give you a visual to go along with this he said if you allow a hypocrite to come between you and God the hypocrite is actually closer to God than you are anyway so I'm glad you're here that's all I'm saying is I'm saying so fourteen years old my grandmother first me go to his church right but right around fourteen I should say she gave me an option to go she was like would you like to go to church I was like no sanas I ain't going to church I just hung out with my friends we just hung out a dis stuff we had fun I remember I wanted to accident figure because we was broke it's kids we're gonna had no money like we had no money like we was like for real like we had no money anyway so when we go got money you get creative I wanted to accident figure my dad hands me a box on my birthday I opened it up it was empty he said it's Invisible Man I play with that thing for three weeks man - my brother hid it from me come find a nowhere man hung up posters and everything we had some games we had the game operation right remember operation we had no batteries so my cousin came over right he figured out a way how to plug it into the wall right so whole another game now bro no operation roulette that's what we called it it was operation roulette cool we also made a deal me and my man one of my boys made a deal - we wouldn't curse anymore let's be real you don't remember Jesus soon as you lead a holosuite 14 years old your boy that's kind of what you do like by mommy I love you I'll see you later but baby baby baby so we did it so we had a deal we would incur see more like we concurs in fact this was a deal if he heard me curse he could hit me in the chest hard as he wanted to and he vice-versa had to just stand there and take it dukkha hit hard I stop cursing immediately we did play other games so we play games like slug bug remember slug bug if you're from the East Coast they call the punch bug here's how the game works if you see a Volkswagen bug you get to hit your friend those are order instructions in my neighborhood they would take this game a little too far they would add to the game you're playing uppercut firetruck football minivan body slam you ever played a game it was always one crazy dude in a group will make up games on the spot like itching or throw tall building you play too much man you play too much also notice that this age right I was struggling my reading now I knew this beforehand but I ain't here but now I'm noticing Earl's and I want the girls to know I'm struggling my reading so I'm sitting there and uh like I would struggle like by the way I refine now like the signs over the door to say excite I can read that so this lady's just our praying for me she's like Laura he still don't know he not reading I was good at math though I was good at math if I had a nickel for every time somebody told me my math was wrong I'd have two dollars and eighty three cent if you didn't get that last joke the old map is wrong too so I was troubled marina I couldn't sound words out phonetically it just didn't work like I I couldn't sound words out like everybody else had to look at the word differently so my mind would start to scramble so I'd have to look at the font size the color the positioning what's in front of it what's behind it how people responded to it I actually came up with seven different ways to look at a word to determine what that word was then I got really good at it to the point in high school people didn't know I wasn't really reading I was just working it out really really fast now as an adult I read just fine but I still have this ability to look at words and people in situations seven different ways almost immediately in fact it's the primary place that I pulled my comedy from so they're very thing from my past it looked like it was a handicap it seemed as if I was dealt a bad hand God did not cause it but he's used it in preparation for he asked me to do it's almost as if I was practicing even though I didn't know I was practicing let me say this again so you can hear what I'm saying that thing from your past the fact that you never met your dad before your mom was alcoholic you were molested as a child God did not cause that but he'll use it in preparation for he asked you to do chances are you've been practicing maybe you didn't know you were practicing I'm here to let you know you've been practicing and for a lot of you guys is game time but you have to be able to hear the coach's voice or you'll get in the game and not know what to do and end up just practicing some so as a result of my practice I find funny everywhere I meant it I'm at the grocery store a couple days ago well two weeks ago right and his lady I buy my food right about to lead the ladies like hey would you like to give some money to the poor hungry who's you'd like to give money for hunger I was like that's what I just did I just did that just now thank you i'ma leave you know mom take take my food I just walked off to she was like I did my part I did my part so always sit back and I pay attention to people 26 years old right 26 years old I moved to New York City I hope you're tracking with 714 26 the reason I moved in New York City is cuz this point I'm doing comedy in Michigan where I grew up and in and I want to go to New York to find out if I'm funny because in New York if you're not funny the way to let you know is they'll say something like you're not funny so there's a comedy club in New York called a comic strip live and it's it's a really hard Club to get into they have an open mic on Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m. where comedians who are new in town start lining up at 6 o'clock in the morning so they can do 90 seconds in front of the manager in hopes that the next month they get to do 3 minutes it's really really really hard to get in this club I think you do 5 minutes out of that it's really hard to get in this club right so it's finally my turn to perform at the comic strip live and right before I get on stage a comedian named George Wallace walks in who's really established and he walks in which means whoever's next gets bumped um next I know I'm about to get bumped the manager is already walking over to me I'm about to get bumped I'm about to get bumped but no this is where guy shows up for the first time in my life well this is where I noticed them the manager walks over he says Michael listen George Wallace is here would you like to go on before him or after him that never happens I was like before him please and I go on before George Wallace and I got New Yorkers laughing but not only are they laughs and he comes in and he's laughing - after the shoulders a bunch of comedians are all around them excellent questions he leaves them and he walks over to me and he says wow you're really funny I was like oh snap thanks man and then you say hey you're clean it's like let me ask you a question he was like why don't you curse I was like oh no if my grandmother walking in or something my grandmother ain't coming to New York what else was I gonna say my friend might hit me in a chest I'm a grown man he said you're funny and you're clean I love you to do a show with me and my best friend in a couple of nights I was pumped I was excited I know his best friend was whatever I don't matter I get to the show right it's me George Wallace the Jerry Seinfeld no you know we do two shows I get two standing ovations I rip I'm the man I'm like yeah after the show the club manager it's a different club dude walks up to me said Michael you got a great set hey let me ask you a question you won't go to church with me tomorrow I just got two standing ovations why are you messing this up right now man nobody going to church man mic up please owner Church then 20 minutes later his fiancee asked me the same question but she was fine I'm talking about beautiful she had some kind of accent - she's like Michael jr. would you like to go to church with us I was like I was just looking for it sure the other day so I'll go to the search for the wrong reasons right I can't find these people I can't if I'm sitting in the back and his due comes out on stage I just just walks out on stage and he's talking about Jesus that's it he's just talking he ain't screaming and yelling he don't got no perm do was just talking about Jesus then he did this thing right where'd you like an altar call he said when he's in your life I have to do is believe in your heart confess with your mouth stand up come forward Jesus is yours yo and I really wanted to do it like I really really wanted to but I was like I got to read the pamphlet first cuz I didn't know what all this stuff was about cuz I've know a couple Christians and they was creepy it's some creepy Christians out there if you don't know any creepy Christians is you you are a creepy Christian your friends no one acts out so I told myself I read the Bible before I gave my life with Jesus now you don't have to do this I just wanted to cuz I didn't know if it was a catch or something cuz some Christians you ever talk to somebody regular conversation see the game the other day the good game wasn't it and as soon as I start talking about God they voice change can I tell you about the lower what is wrong with your voice dude so I told myself I read the Bible before I gave my life over to Jesus you don't have to do this I just wanted to I even have a Bible then three days later I'm gonna hear an airport and this lady but never met before just hands me a Bible that's it she just handed to me walked off we didn't even talk she's like The Lone Ranger or somebody I don't know what she did Bible Slayer I don't know who this lady was so I'll get the Bible I'll open it up the Bible first thing I read was the copyrights I don't know his thing came from the Bible was made in Grand Rapids Michigan me too so I'm reading the Bible going to church reading the Bible going to church I remember when I got to the part in Matthew where they talked about how Jesus died for me I even know so I was 27 years old is used to die for me literally I didn't know already right I had no idea right there in Matthew he died I didn't know you know what the reason I didn't know because I've been in church before or dude was screaming and yelling I saw the cross saw the same thing on a rappers neck got all these women around him I don't know if this stuff me but I'm looking at right there and it says Jesus died for me I even know it so I read it up Matthew then turn to mark and he died again I'm like what's going on I thought Jesus died four times when I read the Bible for those who don't know there's like four different accounts people telling their story in the Bible I didn't know that nobody told me I'm sitting there reading in the next I'm like oh no Jesus they're gonna do it again get out the garden get out the guard get out the garden like I didn't know so I'll give my level of Jesus now understand stuff I you just think I was funny now understand I'm funny for a reason like there's purpose behind me having a sense of humor and there's purpose behind you having a talent skills resources and even some of the setbacks even all of the setbacks that you have God can use all of that so I'll get some celebrities some that you would know who actually questions about God they say stuff like how is it I can do all this stuff that I'm doing and you know what I'm doing no and one do we was in the green room talking to got women feed them grapes why are we talking am i do can we hold a conversation or you just know eat grapes you say how is it I could do all this stuff that I'm doing you know what I'm doing how is it the people still say that God wants a relationship with me how is that possible that's mrs. bry explaining I said and this isn't even close to how awesome God is my god is like a navigation device we need your car here in a car with a navigation device before you're gonna a car before we could start there people you are in a car god it's like being in a car with a navigation device if you punch in the corners that's where you want to go and it says go ten blocks and turn left did you go ten blocks and turn right it doesn't abandon what you're supposed to do it recalculates what you need to do to get to where you're supposed to be based upon where you are only problem is if you keep making the wrong turns the role conditions will be different they may be rougher and you're running out of time so you have to be sensitive to listen to that voice so you can make the right choice about where you're supposed to be and that voice sounds an awful lot like a coach because you haven't been practicing for nothing it's game time so I moved to Los Angeles after that right because New York is expensive seven hundred fifty dollars a month for a couch so in Los Angeles is the number one comedy club in the country it's called the comedy magic club it's so prestigious I can't even physically get into the club but George Wallace is in town and he cost me up he's like hey you wanna go to come at your club I'm like yeah I'm leaving right now what date you talk about going like I'm excited so he gets me into the county magic club he can't get me on stage you can only give me inside the club so I find myself in a green room now with some soldiers in comedy there's George Wallace was myself George Wallace Garry Shandling Jay Leno soldiers in comedy right and at the time they're working on a joke some of you guys may remember a football player got hit an eye with a flag and he was suing a league for like 400 million dollars now all of these guys are working on that joke subject for Jay Leno's monologue on The Tonight Show on NBC I ain't singing nothing I'm just happy to be in a room sharing french fries with these dudes but the Bible actually says your gift will make room for you so I'm sitting there and they're all working on a joke and then they got quiet and they looked at me and I was like oh snap this is an opportunity us aren't me see if I got this right he got hidden I would flag he lost his vision in one eye and he's sown a league for 400 million dollars he not gonna see half of it [Applause] like for real so here's the thing here's the thing how did I get that joke that fast under that much pressure the truth is it wasn't as much pressure as you might think because I was practicing them ever since I was a child in the form of a kid who is struggling his reading just like you've been practicing the thing that happened God will never let you go through more than you can stand it's only going to make you stronger and now you're in position where you can get what you need so you can help other people because what the other people need is they need you to be stronger and your strength is in God you have to trust us so then now become a Christian right love God still can do comedy love doing comedy and then I had a change in mindset right because normally a comedian we're all about getting laughs and God said to me simply instead of trying to get laughs from people I want you to give people an opportunity like this right here change everything if you just get a hold of this it will change your life for the good if you just start asking the question what can I give as opposed to what can I get it will change your entire life for the good and please understand if you don't articulate the answer to this question by default you're asking what can I get every time you walk into a room so if you articulate the answer it changes everything so I started asking this question I'm leaving the club one night and I saw a homeless guy outside the club I got people asking for autographs and pictures and I see a homeless dude I'm like how could I give him an opportunity laughs so we start going to homeless shelters and I was like you know what I'm gonna go to prisons - oh no exactly where that idea came from so I'll go to this prison for the first time I've been to a lot of prison since but the first time yo I was scared so as I walk in right um the warden takes my belt he's like you can't have a belt somebody might try to hang you can't they just boo me or something like regular people can't they just boo I'm in prison my pants loose it's a bad idea man I just I don't know if this is right I don't feel good about this I got seven different ways to look at this man some walking this prison and when you going to prison right they have these bars they opened in front of you you take a few steps they close there's some more bars you go like seven bars deep right and the bar and Simeon norm Tom ball welcome home anyway some walking there's prison I'm scared for real like I'm scared cuz I and normally I start my comedy out a little slow no no no I need them to like me immediately but not too much right so I'm walking this prison and I'm and I'm thinking about what joke I'm gonna start with and then we get like four rows deep into the prison the prison guards say okay man see you later like they don't go any further they're like hey you go in from here we're going way back here I'm sorry what just happen they explained to me that David for security purposes they don't go any further I'm like I don't you got it I need a manual or something this don't make sense so what they did was they gave me a little black box with a pin in it right and they said if anyone tries to attack you if something happens you just pull the pin out the little box and then we'll come help that's the plan that's what we gonna do you know the dudes in prison it's a group of them one of them his job is to hold the pan in I got seven different ways to look at this man I'm not feeling good about this and I walk in and there's a minute's prison right there's no stage there's no glass we're not doing comedy on the phone I don't know why they always do that in the movies I don't know why dough so I'm scared for real and all these dudes is in the circle it's a whole bunch of they're all in a circle right there's like 200 but they all got on pink jumpsuits you think cuz crack jokes no I said none about them jumpsuits I got nothing I'm walking in and all the prisoners there any kind of quiet there's a little hole in the middle of the circle where I'm sort of standing do comedy and I got nothing no jokes is popping up seven different ways to nothing I have one joke pop up as I walked forward but I ain't feel like I should start with it I was gonna be like you know what you guys are a captive audience I just want to say that you know I didn't feel a piece of my spirit about start with that joke so I'm scared right walking in and I got I figure I got two steps left before I got to bring the funny and or I don't know what's gonna happen because if I'm just standing here I just don't know what's gonna happen so I got two steps left take this first step nothing nothing nothing for real nothing let's just put up nothing nothing nothing I set this foot down and for real sitting right up front is a white dude with a white beer named Moses I was like thanks Lord when I said these words of Moses the place exploded in our laughter we had an amazing time I said Moses this what I want you to do when you see the prison warden I want you to look him in his eye you look him right in his eye and I want you to say let my people go [Applause] for real it's two things I want you to catch from this story the first one is I didn't know what I was gonna say or what I was gonna do until I got my feet where it needed to be there's some people watching right now at the other campuses in here even online you didn't know what you're going you had no idea but you decided to be here today you decided to watch today so you've got your feet where they need to be right now but now what what are you gonna do next the other thing I want you to catch from that story um which is really really the story I tell when I talk about having a relationship with Jesus which is the coach the Holy Spirit is the coach who talk to you explain to you what to do so I got this story that tell pretty much like this is my favorite story ax got Haiti when we do another story at the any was like nah that's how we talk you could say na na W so this is a story about having a relationship with Jesus the way I came up with this story is I was writing a joke I'm trying to joke about the good room right how many people here know it's a good room mate raise your hand okay so for those who don't know the good room is that room in your grandmother's house or your aunts house or maybe your house it's that one room it's better than the rest of the house nobody can go in there it's plastic on the furniture I swear to China's locate it it's really just for looks how many people know what a good room is now raise your hand exactly so I'm writing this joke about the good room and in the middle rightness joke God stops me and he tells me to tell this story to his people so i'mma tell you the story and stories the way better was somebody playing a keyboard so are you go you're the last service he was he was late you started running got on skinny jeans he almost started fire can't be doing that from the Schism go sir fire so cool all right this is so dope we're laughing in the middle of what's going to be a life-changing moment for some people God is different than you think some people think God doesn't want you to laugh especially in church listen what good father doesn't want to hear his children's laughter in his house and if your house becomes his house there's more laughter in your house as well anyway so let me tell you this story and this is for every campus I need you to be paying attention every campus dallas frisco former fort where all of you guys I'm talking to you please understand that if you're watching a line and it's nine years later talking to you two all right so I want everyone in here I want you to imagine imagine that you are a house imagine it's your house and outside of the house is Jesus Christ and he wants to come in but he'll never force his way in he just won't he wants you to invite them in and the reason some people watching right now the reason you haven't invited Jesus into the house is because you're cool with the way things are right now so it would seem whenever you need something whenever something happens you just walk up to the door crack it open say what you need and close the door and you go back into the house but that's not a relationship at all how can you hear his voice under those circumstances how can you understand even what the practice is about under those circumstances [Music] and your reason will let them into the house is because your house is a mess where you think you need to clean it up just a little more first where here's a side note he can see through the door his father can see through the roof but you still have to invite him in because he'll never force his way in there may be drugs or pornography in the house or maybe he just buying a bunch of stuff watching a bunch of TV just trying to be distracted from the mess or relationships you brought other people in the house hoping that maybe they could help you clean it up but they can't they just can't the only one who can clean it up is standing outside the door wear an apron with a bucket in his hand waiting on you to truly open the door then there's other people watching right now you're in here right now used to have Jesus in the whole house but whether you realize they're not even moved to him she's just one room in the house the good room have you ever notice how the good room most of the time is the one right up front with the big window it's when people look in they think the whole house is clean but it's not it is just that one room so when they hear about you coming to church they think the whole house is clean but it's not it's just that one room you quote scriptures it's just that one room you give money it's just that one room Jesus once access to the whole house and I'm telling you if you would just open his door and let him in he'll show up with a contractor named the Holy Spirit and together they'll make sure the whole house is functioning the way it was intended to you'll be able to hear his voice you can make the right choice about what it is you're supposed to do because currently you're not making the choices that you want but none of this happens if you don't open a door because he will not Jesus will never force his way in we want you to invite them in so if everyone if you could just close your eyes and bow your head everyone in this room everyone at every campus just close your eyes and bow your head I'm actually do something really really simple if you're in here right now and you need to invite Jesus into your house rather be for the first time or to give him full access to this house I'm talking to even those people in the overflow rooms God knows exactly where you are right now he knows that you're in a room outside of the church outside of the manger he knows exactly where you're seated right now sir if you're in here right now you need to invite Jesus into your house whether it be for the first time or to give him full access to the house again I'm actually do something really really simple on the count of three I simply want you to put your hand in the air don't overthink this but if you need to invite Jesus into your house or the first time or to give a full access again the count of three hands are already going up just simply put your hand in the air one two three nice and high praise God praise God I see you up top more fluid heels or Fort Worth Frisco Dallas Grand Prairie all right go ahead put your hands down and then look up at me first of all let me say this I am proud of you so when I say that phrase sometime God will give me a number on how many times I need to repeat that phrase so you can receive that phrase from a father's voice some of you have never heard this from a father's voice before so I'm gonna repeat this from a father's voice and please work on receiving it I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud of you I am proud [Music] some actually to do something else and this is for everyone who raised her hand at every single campus and even in an overflow this is for everyone who raised their hand and even those who should have raised her hand Jesus says if you will take a stand for me before man I will take a stand for you before my father in heaven so that's gonna look like right here on earth is everyone who raised their hand even those who should have raised their hand on the count of three I'm gonna want you to stand up and remain standing this is very important if you can't do it in here where we're proud of you you won't be able to do it out there so again this is so when you raise your hand it's like you're reaching for the doorknob when you stand up and remain standing and we do this prayer together it's like you're blowing a door open so Jesus comes to the house so again this is for everyone who raised their hand even those who sit of racing on the count of three I'm going to actually to stand up and remain standing so we can pray together but to help with that everyone around you they're going to applaud as loud as they can but it will not compare to the applause that the angels in heaven will be doing when you stand to your feet and remain standing one two three to stand up there were many things we stand up and remain standing both listen he'll talk to you go forward Briscoe product and Paulette Granberry Valis you need the legislature keep standing if you're standing up don't flower if you're standing don't flap just receive the applause for the people run praise God praise God I'm proud of you can probably play okay so let me tell you we're gonna do now first of all I'm so proud of those don't sit back down see the tendency continue standing the tendency is to sit down when the applauds of the man stop has nothing to do it down this is not about them this is about you and him the angels are still rejoicing right now because you made this choice right now so um why y'all start clapping you ain't no angel stop clapping I said the angels are rejoicing it's like I am I'm an angel sit yourself down you know we're laughing in the middle of a life-changing moment somewhere between this campus and other campuses there's eight people who are sitting down and should be standing so you should get up right now this is how you always do like you're always that person stand yourself up stand yourself up praise God praise God so here's we're gonna do it we're gonna pray right go into a prayer gonna make right we're gonna pray and then they always bring up a white dude to make it official oh no white Ellie's got to do that oh it today so oh no it's true I'm sure he's someone look there you go right there no they're here sure there's when I show campus to supper itself of Jelani he kind of like anyway so so here's we're gonna do we're gonna pray repeat after me nice and loud and clear and then and then listen pastor Tom who was awesome I love that dude hanging all the time he's gonna come and give you some instructions but what I have to what I want you to understand he's gonna give some instructions uneasy to listen because normally when you come to church you come to church and then you leave you walk in this way you leave that way I want you to do something different you can't do what you always do need to do something new so normally you go in that direction he's going to give you some instructions but for a lot of you guys if not all of you it's going to be about coming this direction do something different in the physical and watch what God is going to do in the spirit okay so that's Frank that's Frank your God thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to this earth to die for me thank you that he rose again on the third day I believe it and I received it come into my heart come into my house and have your way Jesus amen
