yo welcome back nick he's here adam um we're an absolutely gorgeous place in stafford at the moment massive nice house which is here uh we're changing over old 12 volt down lights in the bedroom and in the bathroom over to 240 we've got the jcc fire guards white bezels and what we're gonna have to do we're just nipped up there and had a look we've got all the stuff and i forgot to pick up the down lights from the unit i've got one in the box and we have already been there we have already been to the unit just i just left him on the side so i'm going to knit back adam will take you up into the loft and he's going to show you the different wiring system of having it on a 12 volt and we're going to convert it across we're going to be using the ideals and the ideal boxes to join through where the transformers are then across in the bathroom there's one of the old massive spiral transformers the centralized ones that will inspire the web off to the down lights so he's going to show you that while i nip the van and go get the down lights uh we've got some stuff up there we've got some sheets adam's gonna get a mask for in the loft try and get a bit of footage to show you guys he's gonna take a hammer and uh some clips up there as well because the caves have been slung over what we usually see in lofts people just don't take the time and effort to do it properly and uh look at this tidy this out yesterday mate happy job i did this thank you very much adam did this yeah i put a picture on instagram um i'll take your uni light up as well mate so uh yeah adam's gonna hopefully get some footage fingers crossed and uh i'll be back shortly right so i'm in the loft now um they just nip to the unit together like to figure out um so i've got the what is this massive uni slr 6000 the beast literally like daylight up here so yeah that's the big transformer there next one about um which obviously you can see all the little spiders off to each down light um but yeah so this is like pretty much the way they used to do it just sting the cables across some people used to take care and attack it but some people just sling them across so i'm just going to try and knead it all off of it and then yeah they're the other transformers the ones just that white box which is just there so they're the newer type 12 volt ones and then that's obviously the old one but luckily for me this is the boarded side and then this isn't boarded so it's easy to access so what i'm doing first is power's obviously off because the loft lights off and all that so i tested it it's all off so what i'm gonna do is strip out that get all those drink together that'll mean all the little spider webs which interconnects so in there you'll have a feed and a switch wire and then obviously um the spiders to reach down light just gonna do that and then i'll see just push the lights down for a change not pull them down push them down obviously pull in the springs and then push them down and then go downstairs and re-terminate earth leave it get it ready for nick all right so i just took the lid off so what we've got here at the top there you can see it says mains input voltage so that's obviously our feed and then down it don't know if you can see uh it says 12 volt 12 volt just under the um under each terminal so we've got one two three we've got six 12 volt outputs yeah so i'll say the six type down lights in the bathroom so yeah and then this is where the this little jb here i think that's for the switch wire all right so just been downstairs got the ideal strippers some sleeving and some ideal like the puts uh leave your connectors uh so another thing is noticed as well is the earths are all cut off so you can see the copper sticking on so there's no cpc on any of these lights um i think they've even yeah even on the main the feed i've cut it off so yeah i'm just gonna return it this but just found out i picked up the wrong ideal box so i've only got the um your connector ones which only go to like a size five different ways where i need let's just need seven so i think they do an eight way so right so yeah i've stripped all these back just need to rip off the transformer now i think she's got one screw in it so yeah you can see the pressure stephen over on everything and then collected all we wish on here and then this here i have to move that light a bit so you can see because it's too bright i've just labeled up the feed so helps whoever goes in the juncture box next so you can obviously identify which is a feed then the others are just alps to their downlight so yeah just little things that make a bit easier for the next person that's here well i'm back now after what 45 minutes because everyone seems to want to get fuel still i'm blocking all the roads up so nice one idiots um obviously adam's done some filming he's brought the things up he's linked him through he's sleeved it all and labelled up what your feed is we're going to double check because there's a a pendant that's just loose let me come across here a minute there adam snipped out we're using the ideals i'm gonna put some boxes on in a minute we'll get a few tacks in it just make it a lot better than it was we'll jump down and then i'll start second fixing the fire guards while i'm just carrying up here oh there's a jb as well yeah so the customers said they had this fitted about 20 years ago these down lights um no cpc either was it not linked through i've done a redo alone that's why it's taking longer because yeah look they were just like that yeah they all just slipped off i did show the camera yeah so it's just the way people used to do it and being 12 volt as well i think they were class two fittings i think the old ones um because they're only 12 volt brought to it so it didn't really need a a cpc but the new ones do as we share the new ones i think even the fire guards the class two but there's an earth terminal in it to link through i'll double check that in a minute when we look at them so uh but point over at the dog i'll just look to the doctor it's probably not doing a fat lot of god all that is it you got an inline fan here below you've got another one here and they're linked through on a join i haven't got my shoes on because we took off shoot adam's put his hand up in the loft but yeah so we might actually ask customers if he wants to neaten this up a bit because that isn't going to do anything about me that joint as well is full of water so you've got what you can see here i'll zoom in there with the noise so that is a um not even an elbow it's a three-way adapter but that's actually a piece of drain pipe that they've taped it to and it's on the angle so we'll see if we can just rejig that a little bit just down the bedroom now so i've been to the unit what i'd normally do when i buy a big batch of these anyway is i take them out the box took all the box away put all the recycling bit i've got the unit and then this is all ready for me to come just because there's nothing worse you come to a customer's house and you end up unboxing everything having more rubbish you either end up putting in their bin or putting it back in the van which sits there for a couple of days so trying to be organized that's that we've ended up getting some of the down light the lamps never used these before but we'll give them a go uh brought these from a local wholesaler so these the arm egg i've seen a few people use them now they have a magnetic cup at the end sorry magnetic cup at the end that holds the screw so i bought a box of them we'll see how they are i've heard a few reviews that are great and then a few people saying that the co actually ends up slipping back and getting stuck but we have to try and then this is the transformer that was brought out of the bathroom lights so where you just have a loop in the loop out and then it's all spidered off for the 12 volt so i've kept this tidy because i'm actually going to send this across to um big clive and see if he wants to uh do a little video on it and unravel it because obviously you've got your massive coils of copper in there it'd be quite cool to pull apart see how much coffee can get from it but with him as well obviously what would be ideal is he does a nice really cool video that gets 1 million views and then they go oh who did he get out from nick bundy electrical go and check his youtube channel and then i'll get million subscribers and everyone else could bow down to me because i'll be the king but that's probably not gonna happen we can only wish and hope and dream so i'm gonna get all this unbox put all the lamps in the 16 downlights to go in we brought ourselves a 18 volt 18 volt 12 volt transformer for the extractor light that's going to go in to change the lamp over and once them cut all these off up there i can start changing them over but uh just hoping i need to measure the hole to make sure that hole's not too big for my lamps to be honest because these are the old tiltable down lights i have run to an issue so because these are tiltable down lights in the ceiling they're cut out to a lot bigger than normal ones and that's my fire guard on there as standard well you could get away with it with a bit of decorating maybe a bit of cork or fire seal around it which we've had to do before in some of the icr properties for each stage and but here i'm gonna have to go to the local old state let me just get these changed for tiltable ones but the holes here are big i'll show you the difference so there's the two types that one was from the bedroom i've got a tape measure up here as i'll tell you some measurements but then that's the bathroom one and substantially bigger so they're cutting out in the ceiling is i'll show you the difference all right i've just asked if there was any of the you know the bezels the plastic bezels that actually sit on the ceiling so the downlight clips into it so it makes the hole smaller but they only have bell down lights and they don't have um and he's for the jcc so i'm going to get a measurement and then it's wholesalers again and see what they've got unfortunately because my bad i should have either took a measurement of the hole before we quoted the job but there's me losing money on the job now aldernick first job back up ah yeah i'm wiggling down adam just said he was in the loft and he was just poking the down light down from the top and as he pulled the spring round and whipped back up and he said he had about two minutes to himself up there just quiet didn't you just uh a few tears coming down yeah it's been sharp so yeah it's one of them has cost me more on this job i'm not gonna put this on the customers it's my this is my fault where i've already bought and paid for these lights months ago when i've ordered stacks of stacks of them so in my head in my theory lights have already paid for themselves because i've already paid for the materials months ago they've been sitting the unit this is what we try and do with the unit buy in bulk get a little bit cheaper and then we have a good stock to use and when we can so i've already paid for these lights so realistically the the money on this job would be more profitable because the likes were paid for months ago by myself but that's the way my head logically works to me anyway does that make sense to you or not yeah yeah so a bit weird like that so the difference between the lights now so these are the normal jcc fire guards this is just one with an ip-rated bezel the glass that's the size and these are the bigger ones with the tilt um you see the size differences quite substantial really on the front so they'll fit in quite nicely which can turn around back down what's good about this as well which is different to the normal downlights that we do normally we obviously just bounce from light to light to light which is normal what we would do in a normal day new build or a retrofit we would take out what's there but here they're linked throughs what has done is used ideals linked out what what the where the transformers were and spidered it across so we only have one cable at each fitting which adam's world just about because that's the way he likes to do it and then in here same thing the downlights will fit in here just the bigger ones these are huge live films so it was just my mistake when we came into quote just say laziness really walk around with the customer i should have had the tape measure out i should have measured it so for you guys in the future if you're new to it go around just double check this because it doesn't cost me money um i'm not going to pop the customer it's a lesson learned again you know why i've done this before years ago um but yeah i haven't learned something you guys have learned something from it so i'm going to get that wow yeah i'll um we'll get a few of these in and then we'll we've got some outside lights to do as well there are air will change now they're all over we've got a few let's paint someone where this is where someone's painted the old downlights to see them we run the knife around but sometimes it doesn't work you see here just drop that too in that pocket oh i've changed that to a 12 volt led we need to change the driver i think you're going to jump up in a minute finish the connections and clip in i'm going to have a bit of a tidy up in here it's what i mean when the amount of rubbish from the in the hole that and all of that is just from the down lights obviously i'd already got rid of this all from my own lights at the unit it's just preparation it probably spent about 20 minutes unpacking everything and put the lamps in which i'd already started to do but never mind and uh yeah your final bit and then we'll look at these outside lights i've something else i haven't recorded it because it's hammering it down but this is the combi whisker 304 which is the new round which i'll show you up here there's some ideals in it bend it round but it's got a twisty lid which is this one that goes on twists and lock shut jcc 30 watt pir touch round it's nice little finish that's a little bit lighter on we've done our dead test adam's just doing a zed what is that s don't say that easier the last fit in the bathroom the extractor one on they don't match but the extractor one is the 12 volt moves his head there we go he's on and uh bedroom nice so i'm going to film literally the last couple of things to fill on the ipad i'm just going to go in the loft now take a video for the customer to see the extent on the duct tin and um just see if we can sort that out another day so right we're back in the van now we just absolutely hammered it down while we're packing away so uh customers are happy the lights worked out well only advice i say to you lot quoting is just triple check everything because it's cost me a bit of money there it is what it is yeah like i said earlier you could put it on the client and say these bits have cost extra but i feel it's my duty to give a correct quote to start with if we found loads of things that weren't right with the house and the wiring but this is something that i should have checked to start with so it's on me so we're yeah nice little video it was a good job it's afterwards nearly three o'clock now it's a school run so everyone's getting mental i'm gonna go and try and get some fuel because i don't have a lot left and uh yeah everyone's going crazy but uh thanks for watching and we'll see you soon bye [Music] [Music] [Music] you
