Mercedes-Benz Driver Assistance Package - Distronic Plus, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Assist

[Music] hello Justin here at Sears imported autos today we're in a brand new 2016 s550 4matic from mercedes-benz we're going to take a drive and I'm going to show you one of the coolest packages that mercedes-benz offers called driver assistance package a lot of different facets to that we're going to point out some of them that we can kind of see as we're moving so let's take a drive alright so we're out on the road or in our s550 and the main thing with this package that we want to show today is called Distronic plus with steering assist such a cool feature I'm just going to turn it on right away so all I'm doing is turning on cruise control and I've got it set it you know about 65 miles per hour now let's turn it up even more I'm gonna put it to 70 now I've got a vehicle in front of me obviously what's happening is there's a radar cruise control that's picking up the car that in front of me and it's going to keep me to a distance that I select from it so right now that car is only going about 63 or 64 miles per hour we're locked in right so it's going to mimic what that car does now if I want to move over in a different Lane away from that car I'm going to go over here and I'm going to go way up in speed right away so I'm not touching the gas or brake whatsoever I'm letting Distronic plus with steering assist take care of that now you asked about what is steering assist well I've got a lot of information around me I've got a car in front of me I've got lane markings that's picking up so I can take my hands off the steering wheel here and it's going to turn the vehicle for me see that and amazing now obviously we want to make sure that you're paying a little bit of attention and it will make you put your hands back on it eventually but what a cool feature now again I've got cruise control set actually bumped it up to 75 so car in front of me is only going 66 I'm going to change lanes here and the car is going to automatically pick up speed because I don't have anything in front of me we're going to go to the 75 that we wanted so you can see how effortless the driving is there's gas and brake is taken out of the equation completely in fact steering's taken out of the equation completely right so I know that this car is going to keep me dead center in this lane without touching pretty amazing I'll get back on the wheel here but that is your driver assist package the number one feature called this tronic plus with steering assist cool sup Distronic plus with steering system not our only part of driver assistance package you also have active Blind Spot Assist active lean cubic assist one of those means right what does active mean versus just Blind Spot Assist itself well if I've got a blinker on and I'm gonna say hey I'm getting a little bit of a you know an audible warning telling me you know it's beeping at me telling me not to move over into that person I'm also getting my triangle in my mirror here lit up showing me that that person's there I'm still going I'm still trying to change lanes it's actively going to kind of pull me away from that car by using the alternate side of the vehicle and it's braking systems so same thing with the Lane Keeping Assist I'm gonna get a vibration in my wheel letting me know that I'm out of my lane if I continue out of my lane it's going to give me a little bit of braking interference and kind of pull me a nudge be back to the center of my lane very smart stuff a lot of other safety functions that are built into that those are the ones that you're really going to notice on a day to day basis and they're really fantastic so huge plus in any Mercedes right driver sis package got to go with that so a driver assistance package from mercedes-benz is available on essentially every Mercedes at this point one exception mainly but we can get into that absolutely come check it out here at Sears imports my name is Justin I'd be happy to help you with any questions that you have my direct phone number here is nine five two five one two six six nine six thanks so much you
